Two years – Level 3 Extended Diploma

This three A Level equivalent programme in Policing is specifically designed for those students who already aspire to join the police force. Students will build specialist knowledge, skills and behaviours related to working in the police service in areas such as leadership skills, physical fitness, and equality, diversity and inclusion, which will prepare them to progress on to a Professional Policing Degree or the Police Constable Degree Apprenticeship route.

Alongside your studies, you can also complete additional qualifications such as the Duke of Edinburgh awards and first aid.

What will I study?

Learning through a mixture of theory and practical work, you will cover the following units:

• Prepare for a Career in the Police • Develop Leadership Skills • Develop Physical Fitness • Equality, Diversity and Inclusion • Preparation for Higher Education • Mental and Physical Wellbeing in the Police • Crime Scene Investigation • UK Legal Systems and the Police

The course is assessed through nonexamination methods such as written reports, presentations, group work and observations of practical competency.

What’s next?

The course is worth up to 168 UCAS points and is designed for progression to university to study a professional policing degree or a similar degree. Alternative routes include the Police Constable Degree Apprenticeship.
