Two years – BTEC

Applied Science is a two-year course covering aspects of all three core sciences: biology, chemistry and physics. The course places emphasis on coursework and practical activities and will help you develop the skills needed for working in the science industry. This Applied Science course is widely accepted by major universities and is ideal for students wishing to work in fields such as healthcare, petrochemicals, telecommunications or energy generation.

You will be learning in our purpose-built, state-of-theart laboratories, and we have an experienced lab technician based onsite to support you with practical tasks. You will be taught by an experienced specialist in science with backgrounds in all three subjects.

What will I study?

You will learn many skills and techniques such as colorimetry, titrations, energy content analysis and chromatography. You’ll also develop many transferrable skills like independence, time management and self-confidence. You will be covering key concepts in biology, chemistry and physics. these include microscopy, chemical properties and production, and waves in communication.

What’s next?

Some of our most recent students have gone on to study nursing, criminal forensics and applied computing at university. Others have progressed on to science courses, midwifery and primary education.
