Two years – BTEC

Choosing to study engineering is a fantastic way to open up a wide-range of future career opportunities. Whether you want to work in industry, specialise in a particular engineering area or just gain an insight into the sector, this exciting qualification provides a broad basis of study as well as developing specialist work related skills that are in demand by many employers.

Students must take either A level mathematics or physics alongside this course.

What will I study?

Learning at both Bede Sixth Form and NETA Training, a mixture of learning strategies will be used in your studies, including problem-solving activities, group work, independent work as well as significant hands-on practical experience.

You will study a broad range of topics related to engineering including engineering principles, safe engineering processes, product design and manufacture, computer aided design and maintenance and condition monitoring.

What’s next?

Engineering opens the door to a wide range of further study and career options, including all of the fields of engineering, science, business and industry. You could choose to continue to university study or you could pursue a higher level apprenticeship. Several of our students studying at Bede have secured higher level apprenticeships with global employers such as PD Ports, Johnson Matthey, Fujifilm.
