Two years – BTEC

Applied Human Biology is a twoyear course covering microbiology, infectious diseases, health issues, biomedical science and the key diagnostic techniques used by the NHS.

The course has a large coursework component so is well-suited to independent learners and those who enjoy the hands-on approach to learning.

What will I study?

You will learn about many common health issues, their diagnosis and their treatments. You will create NHS style documents detailing this information using facts you have independently researched. You will also carry out investigations into microorganisms, identifying them and suggesting how they can be treated.

What’s next?

This course is perfect for moving on to a career in the NHS such as nursing or paramedic science.

It’s also an excellent springboard to university courses such as microbiology and biomedical science.
