Course Type: Chartered Institute of Legal Executives (CILEx)

Length: Minimum of 1 year, part-time

Entry Requirements: CPQ Advanced Stage, LPC or BPC

Location:

The CPQ Professional Stage is the third and final stage of the CILEx Professional Qualification. It is open to CILEx Advanced Paralegals or those with an LPC or BPC. You will enter the CPQ Framework as a trainee CILEx lawyer and will study the Professional Stage to become a CILEx Lawyer. This programme takes your legal education to the highest level, building on your previous study and enabling you to complete your specialist training to achieve practice rights in your chosen specialism.

WHAT WILL I STUDY?

Trainees will complete a mandatory module entitled Professional Skills. This module will require you to complete legal research on a given case study. You will then select your chosen specialist pathway module. Examples of pathways include, but not limited to, residential conveyancing, commercial conveyancing, probate practice and family practice. The modules of criminal litigation, family practice and civil litigation also have an advocacy requirement attached to them which will need to be completed.

HOW AM I ASSESSED?

You will be assessed by a mixture of internal formative assessments, case study portfolio, professional experience portfolio and external examinations throughout the duration of your training programme.

WHAT’S NEXT?

Graduates will be qualified CILEx Specialist Lawyers in their chosen legal area and receive all relevant practice rights. Graduates can choose to specialise in additional areas by completing additional modules.
