Course Type: Cert HE

Length: 1 year, full-time

Entry Requirements:

> Be 18 years old or over by 31 December in the first year of study

> Have a level 3 health and social care qualification

> Supported with GCSEs grade C (4) or above, or equivalent

> Functional or Key Skills level 2 maths and English, if not included in the above GCSE qualifications

> Have some experience working in the sector (desirable but experience will be gained through placement)

> Have an Enhanced Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS check)

> Attend an interview Location:

This full-time programme is delivered over three days a week (including one day placement). It is the first year of a Foundation degree for Health and Social Care practitioners. You will be at least 18 and have a relevant level 3 qualification and ideally have some experience of working in the care sector (voluntary or employment).

WHAT WILL I STUDY?

Level 4 modules:

> Introduction to Study Skills in Health and Social Care

> Introduction to Medicines Management

> Reflective Practice in Health and Social Care

> Safeguarding Vulnerable Individuals

> Psychosocial Context of Care

> Contemporary Care Practice

> Carry out 100 placement hours in a healthcare or social care setting. Students are responsible for arranging their own placements

HOW AM I ASSESSED?

The programme is assessed through course work which includes essays, reports, case studies, presentations, and research reports.

WHAT’S NEXT?

Once you have completed your studies you can progress on to a range of health and social care programmes determined by your own area of interest – this could include progression onto level 5 (second year of programme) or into university or employment.
