“Creating spaces that maximize efficiency & enhance the customer experience.”

2.0 Biography At EV&A Architects, our firm culture centers on design to lift and improve the human experience. Our nineteen architects, interior designers, planners, technology specialists, and support professionals are dedicated to a collaborative ethos, allowing us to tackle the ever-changing challenges of the built environment. We began in 2006 as a small but passionate team of creative professionals, and from these roots, we’ve grown into a mid-sized firm that uses the power of collaboration and discipline to deliver a diverse body of work from commercial and industrial projects to hospitality and retail venues to highly complex and sophisticated healthcare facilities. We have developed a reputation for working closely with our clients blending their business needs with design excellence in every project, regardless of size. We are simply committed to our mission of serving the profession while becoming our client’s trusted advisor. Licensed in 19 states our work has transcended architecture in the commercial, healthcare, and hospitality market sectors throughout and across the country. Our hospitality projects have changed the Las Vegas skyline and provided unique visitor experiences while our healthcare projects incorporate evidence-based and

holistic design with the latest in patient care practices. We are at the forefront of commercial office design leading the way for sustainable, technologically advanced, planning and design of Class A and industrial office campuses of the future. Our leadership is grounded in the profession of architecture and service to AIA. We encourage our staff to get involved in Institute programs to further develop their knowledge and skills and to contribute to the profession we love. EV&A financially supports our team members by paying all their AIA dues, including NCARB and licencing fees. The firm also believes in the importance of our interns completing their exams to become licensed professionals by removing as many barriers to licensure as possible. We not only reimburse the costs of examination upon successfully passing each section of the A.R.E. but encourage and support internal study groups to help employees pass their exams sooner. EV&A is big on work-life balance and puts its money where its time clock is. It is staffed to a level so that people aren’t routinely working late or long. Sure, things come up and you might have to work on the occasional weekend, but as long as you get your job done and we meet our client’s deadline, that’s all that really matters. Flex-time rules.

4.3 Aristocrat Technologies Corporate Offices Nestled quietly on the desert floor near the foothills of the Spring Mountains, this pair of three-story office buildings are home to one the world’s leading gaming technology companies. Developed by The Howard Hughes Corporation, Aristocrat Technologies relocated their operations to this twelve acre site to improve freeway access and visibility while allowing for the continuous expansion of their businesses. Re-evaluating internal adjacencies for their teams resulted in a more creative environment for better collaboration and efficiencies. The pair of buildings bookend around a landscaped

central plaza area designed for staff gatherings while providing a clear sense of arrival and good place making. The design team’s primary goal was to create a unique and identifiable design esthetic to reflect and reinforce the modern design vernacular that has become synonymous with the technology company. The project’s exterior design features are replete with shading elements on and around the building’s common areas, providing welcome relief from the desert’s intense sun during the summer months.

THE LAS VEGAS RESCUE MISSION With a mission serving those in need through food, shelter, daily needs and addiction recovery, offering hope to individuals and families. The Las Vegas Rescue Mission has been providing essential services to all people without regard of race, color, creed, national origin, age, gender, religion or disability. Founded in 1970, the Las Vegas Rescue Mission started with a small storefront building that included the chapel, kitchen and a shelter that could house a few men. Today, LVRM campus takes up two city blocks in downtown Las Vegas, helping hundreds of men, women and their children daily, and provides approximately 30,000 meals each month. Over the past two years, EV&A has provided 100% of their design services to provide the Mission with the invaluable design work and website to accelerate donations for their capital campaign to completely renovate their aging campus facilities.

5.3 A Culture of Giving Back Continuing the firm’s commitment of giving back to the communities it serves, EV&A has partnered with St. Jude’s Ranch for Children. They along with their consultants are providing more than $100,000 in pro-bono design services for the new Healing Center project in Boulder City, Nevada. ST. JUDE’S RANCH FOR CHILDREN HEALING CENTER Leveraging more than a 50 year history of providing residential care to children and young people that have experienced complex trauma, St. Jude’s Ranch for Children will create the Healing Center, the first of its kind program for the specialized care of child victims of sex trafficking. The Healing Center will offer trauma specific treatment to victims with a goal to have them move along the continuum of healing, from victims to survivors, and then thriving in our community. Due to the complexity of emotional, physical, and sexual trauma experienced there will be an array of treatment modalities to meet these victims where they are in the healing process. Through this program, victims will receive treatment and services to address safety needs, gain a deeper understanding of the victimization they have experienced, improve self-esteem, develop and/or enhance motivation for change, improve life skills and empower them to reach life goals.

5.4 Supplemental Project - Magnolia Bluffs Sited just below the historic Roth Hill in Natchez MS, Magnolia Bluffs Casino was built over the Mississippi River to comply with State’s strict gaming regulations. The project is supported on nearly fifty steel piles giving patrons the feeling that they are floating on the river providing a real connection to the site often overlooked in typical casino designs. Utilizing locally produced materials and taking cues from the local vernaculars in the area, the design team collaborated with the Natchez Historical Society to recreate an early 20th century cedar mill

that had been located here nearly a century before. A municipal pedestrian river walk winds itself around the building’s riverside perimeter providing access to the casino’s “Back-Porch” amenities complete with fire pits and stunning views of the Mississippi and her majestic sunsets. Supplanting this project within an established and historically recognized neighborhood was an intricate process. The design team worked closely with the Natchez historical commission, held public workshops, and facilitated open houses throughout the design process.

314 South Water Street, Henderson, NV 89015 June 18, 2021 2021 AIA Western Mountain Region Honors Award Jury c/o Ms. Diana Smith, CAE Director, Local Chapters AIA Arizona 30 North Third Avenue, Suite 200 Phoenix, AZ 85003 RE: 2021 AIA WMR Architecture Firm of the Year – EV&A Architects Nominee Members of the Selection Committee, It is with honor and respect that I support EV&A Architects for the 2021 AIA Western Mountain Region Architecture Firm of the Year. I am a peer of Ed Vance’s and for over two decades as a colleague, competitor and friend, I have witnessed the firm’s transformational leadership, passionate services and limitless advocacy within and for the American Institute of Architects at the local, state, regional and national level. I have been fortunate to serve with many talented architects with the Institute, and I can unequivocally state that EV&A Architects led by Mr. Edward A. Vance, FAIA is one of the finest firms for their approach to practice, service and impacting the professional experience of students and emerging architects. The firm is a very successful practice in Las Vegas—no small feat in of itself—while simultaneously dedicating countless hours toward successfully serving and advancing the Institute. When Ed Vance was a national representative of our chapter and region, he put boundless energy to craft, advocate and implement initiatives and special projects with the Institute that have more strongly unified and aligned individuals and components. His leadership has also placed architects and architecture more soundly at the forefront of policymakers and the public. When I served as one of Nevada’s champions for the AIA 150 Celebration, Ed played a vital role as committee chair and in organizing our 24-hour Town Hall efforts. The results were so well received by our legislature that Nevada State Senator Steven Horsford reached out to AIA Nevada to help investigate solutions to diversify the Nevada economy. Ed stepped forward, offering to lead the AIA Nevada task force as Chair. Through his efforts, the book Envisioning Nevada’s Future was published. This volume has helped state leaders craft a framework for future legislation that is based soundly in AIA values of sustainability and creating livable communities. This endeavor simply would not have been successful without Ed’s tireless commitment, enthusiasm and public advocacy skills. Other examples of Ed’s significant contributions include creating and authoring websites, directories, newsletters, awards programs, committees and books that unify and expand membership and celebrate milestones for the Institute and its professionals. In addition, he has mentored countless students and emerging professionals through his lectures, presentations, YAF participation, IDP leadership, NCARB, advise, counsel and practice. My support of EV&A Architects is rooted in complete respect for its leadership, impact on our profession, the Institute, their quality of architecture and service to the community. I strongly encourage and support the selection of EV&A Architects to receive the 2021 AIA WMR Architecture Firm of the Year award. Regards,

J. Windom Kimsey, FAIA

I have been following their work since the founding of the firm in 2006, and in fact, was consulting with Ed Vance about his ‘starting out’ in the months leading up to the opening of the office. Knowing Ed for about 8 years at that time and understanding his dedication to building a better world, I had no doubt his venture would succeed. Our firm has collaborated on a few projects over the past 15 years as we share a common vision of practice: the thoughtful delivery of client focused design solutions, care for the health of our planet and our communities, and especially for the professional development of our staffs. Their practice model is establishing EV&A as a sought-after firm for design excellence. The work of EV&A is beautifully executed and provides warmth and value to an increasing variety of users and patrons. Perhaps as important, EV&A provides opportunities for staff to excel in their growth as leaders in the firm, within the Institute and in the community. I trust that the jury will find EV&A Architects’ contributions to the WMR and the Institute as a whole deserving of recognition as Firm of the Year for 2021. Sincerely,

The American Institute of Architects Western Mountain Region 2021 Honors & Awards Program | The Firm Award

Honors & Awards Jury Members, It is my great honor to add my enthusiastic support to the nomination of EV&A Architects of Las Vegas to receive the Western Mountain Region’s 2021 Firm Award. I have known the firm, its founder, and their work, since its beginnings in 2006. The quality of the firm’s work in service to its clients, its support for the community it calls home, its commitment to its staff and their engagement in advancing the profession sets amazing examples for other firms and practitioners to follow. EV&A has earned the acknowledge and accolades that come with the Firm Award. From its founding, EV&A has complied an extensive portfolio of exceptional, award winning projects. From healthcare facilities to multi-family housing, from master planning to recycling centers to corporate headquarters to casinos the firm has designed for a wide range of clients. With staff members licensed in 19 states they have completed projects far afield from their Las Vegas base for clients who sought the expertise and skills EV&A offer. Their projects have been recognized with 29 awards from AIA components and other industry organizations. A signatory of the AIA’s 2030 Commitment, EV&A’s projects have received 3 LEED certifications and 2 from Green Globes over its 15-year history. Certainly, an impressive set of achievements for a staff of 19. The firm recognizes that their success is tied to the success of their community. Every member of the staff is encouraged to find a cause they can engage with in the community. They are supported to be active participants in programs and activities of the organization. As a result, more than 21 organizations receive support from EV&A and its staff throughout the year. School and University programs, cultural institutions, youth organizations as well as professional organizations are amongst those organizations supported in this wide-ranging circle of support. Support for the profession through AIA a particular passion for EV&A staff. Leading the way is firm founder Ed Vance FAIA. Having served at all levels of the Institute Ed’s service as Chancellor of the College of Fellows, on the National Board of Directors, and as an organizer/presenter at two National Conferences deserves special acknowledgment. With a majority of the firm members of AIA, they have served the Institute in regional, state and local components as board members, committee or task force members and volunteers. The firm encourages and supports their service to the profession, valuing the continuing education and learning opportunities available through the Institute as an extension of the firm’s commitment its employees. Knowing the firm’s most valued asset is its staff, AIA support is but one aspect of support offered employees. Staffing levels are carefully monitored relative to workloads to assure that work – life balance is always maintained for everyone. Mentoring of each staff member encourages them to seek licensure through organized study groups, access to ARE study materials and reimbursement for successful passage of the ARE. The success of that program is evident as 7 of 19 staff members are licensed architects. Given its commitment to quality projects, client service, community engagement through staff mentoring and growth EV&A demonstrates the best an architectural firm can be. Their successes deserve our recognition and praise as WMR’s 2021 Firm Award recipient. Thank you,

The firm’s 15 years of work is impressive and reaches beyond architecture through service to the community and the profession. EV&A’s culture is based on the collaboration of individuals to create distinguished architecture and contribute significantly to the Institute, the profession, and their community.
