VERGINA – NAME, LOCATION, GEOGRAPHICAL FEATURES Vergina is a small town in modern Greece , part of Veroia municipality in Imathia Central Macedonia. It is the ancient site of Aigai, the first capital of the kingdom of Macedon. Vergina lies on the south west edge of the plain Macedonia the foothills of Mt Pieria. Its papulation is about 2.000 people and its altidude is 120 meters from the sea.
VERGINA – FAMOUS ATTRACTIONS • The Museum of Royal Tombs in the ancient necropolis of Aigai. Aigai is protected by UNESCO as a World Heritage Site. In the tomb, it was found the golden larnaca with the Macedonian star on top, containing the bones of King Philip II and the golden wreath the dead man wore.

VERGINA - PEOPLE Vergina has 1242 inhabitans. Some people are engaged in livestock farming, others with agriculture, which is very developed due to the plain and especially agrotourism.
