Letter from the Editor “If we had no winter, the spring would not be so pleasant: if we did not sometimes taste of adversity, prosperity would not be so welcome.” ~ Anne Bradstreet, The Works of Anne Bradstreet This is so true...without the hard times, the good times wouldn’t feel so great. The core idea behind Everyday Party Magazine is to celebrate. Celebrate the everyday, not limited to birthdays or holidays. Celebrate achievements, celebrate opportunities to try again, celebrate live and love, celebrate the everyday! Our Spring issue marks the 3rd anniversary of Everyday Party Magazine, and I truly believe I love each new issue more than the one before. The parties featured in this issue are breathtakingly beatiful, yet, easily recreated. We are currently accepting submissions for theSummer and Fall 2016 issues, as well as seasonally appropriate content for the blog, www.everydaypartymag.com.

Laissez Les Bon Temps Rouler

ne of my favorite classes in school was French. I loved my French teacher, and she was one of those teachers that loved to teach. There wasn’t anything about those classes that I didn’t enjoy. Madame used to celebrate le Carnival with us on Mardi Gras, it just made learning that much more fun. I have tried to teach my boys some French throughout the years, and even though we are not Catholic, we do sometimes celebrate Fat Tuesday. Typically it is just a small celebration at home, and we discuss the holiday and the meaning, and even what we might give up for Lent. This year, I decided to dress up our celebration a little more. I made a simple rag strip garland with gold fabric for the front of the table. I wrote our menu out on one of my old windows. I made crock pot jambalaya, red beans and rice, mini muffeletas, and King Cake bites. I also hand lettered Laissez les bon temps Ruler on my chalkboard. That chalkboard is one of my favorite decorative elements in my home, and it cost very little in time and money to make. I added a few masks I made with my Cricut to the table with some Dollar Tree beaded necklaces, and the table was ready for Mardi Gras! The kids colored their masks and devoured the jambalaya. We discussed the holiday, and how fun it would be to go to the real Mardi Gras or Carnival when they are all old enough to fully enjoy it. hen you’re in the business of creating and styling celebrations, you can’t not have a Valentine’s office party! The team at Soirée LOVES this holiday and was excited to think of a new twist by bringing the holiday of hearts to our workspace. With balloons, candy, love potion and cute décor, we couldn’t help ourselves. The holiday of love has inspired us! First, we just love our cart from Ikea. Normally this would be filled with party supplies but it ended up doubling as a cute candy cart! Decorated with confetti balloons + a pink cocktail of latex balloons, we added some of our favorite products that remind of us Valentine’s Day. The first shelf offers our office beverage of “love potion no. 9” served in pink rugby paper cups. Of course we have the best treats to follow which includes delicious toffee from our favorite shop, Sweet Bricks, ready to serve in either pink chevron treat bags or pink rugby stripe ice cream cups. On the next shelves we have chocolate + heart treats in cute polka dot candy cups and our favorite pink heart napkins which also have a stripe design on the back side. Although the cart makes it convenient to stroll through the office and offer treats to the rest of our team, we also wanted to show a desk candy take over. Here we have taken over Ria’s desk and covered it with sweets and festive decór! Now, we just have one question...will you be our Valentine?

Kate Spade Inspired Party by: Pearls and Spice Events
W
e took the ever popular clean and bold graphic style of Kate Spade New York as our jumping off point to create this fun and stylish event. The stunning tablescape was filled with a number of DIY’s that gave the look of designer tableware but ensured we didn’t break the bank. With a few jars of gold leaf paint we transformed ordinary paper lanterns into things of gilded beauty. We used the same gold leaf to elevate ordinary wine and champagne flutes into gorgeous designer like stemware worthy of the most formal of occasion. Plain old charger plates were treated with a coat of chalkboard spray paint that gave them a matte elegant look. All of this sat atop a glittering gold sequin table cloth with bright pink runners added for a pop of color. The sparkling palette of pink and gold, accented with bold black and white was carried over to the dessert table. Stunning arrangements of roses and hydrangeas flanked each side of the table. Edible 24k gold was used on all details of the desserts which lent them an air of decadence while tying perfectly into the theme. Cake pops were brushed with gold and glitter and hand crafted sugar flowers adorned both the cakes and cupcakes. No dessert table would be complete without the ever indulgent french macaron in various shades of pink. Other highlights from the shoot include framed quotes from Kate Spade, customized menus and napkins tied in bows. Vendor Credits: Styling: Pearls and Spice

Valentine’s Day by: Cupcake Wishes and Birthday Dreams
F
or Valentine’s Day, why donut you host a sweet kid-friendly donut station that is lovely – without being too romantic? The best part of the ideas here are that they are easy to do on your own and super affordable. Nothing goes better with donuts than Milk (Tip: if you’re going to host this for adults, try coffee). Decorate a few glass milk bottles with washi tape and use donut printables to make a small topper for the paper straws. Simply punch a hole in the center to hold and insert a straw! Dress up small favor containers! You can find heart shaped popper containers online and fill them with small chocolate candies for a simple treat. Easily embellish with arrow stickers and you’ll be cupid’s bestie. Donut holes also get the arrow treatment. This is a fun idea for kids to help out with. Use hearts shaped punch, and then create the quills by by cutting small slits into a folded piece of card stock cut to size. Slide donut holes onto the middle of 6” bamboo skewers and attach the heart and quills, with double sided tape, at opposite ends, to create the look of an arrow. You can also package them in small cellophane bags and pass them out as favors or use as classroom treats! A few printed donut clip art images can be easily turned into photo props…simply attach them to paper straws and place them into a container then let little ones have fun pretending to take a big bite! Who doesn’t love donuts? Donuts are always a yummy treat. Instead of serving plain or glazed donuts, you can ice them with melted frosting and a bit of food coloring. Melt canned frosting in the microwave for just 15 seconds and dip the donuts into the frosting. Just top with sprinkles and voila! This donut idea would work great for classroom party, teacher’s brunch, or a gathering with friends and more.

Oscars Party by: Creativities Galore Time to roll out the red carpet and get together with some friends to watch the amazing (and not so amazing) fashion as well as see who are the big winners at this years Oscar’s. I am sharing some easy steps to put together a snack table for your next Oscar viewing party. To start off I chose the classic black and gold as my color scheme. Next I picked out some white serving pieces, the white serving pieces stand out nicely against the black table cover. To not stress yourself out just choose 3 simple snacks to serve your guests, I went with popcorn, red velvet cupcakes, and Brazilian nuts. For a pop of glam I used glittered gold stars through the snack table. I used them as my backdrop, to dress up my plain black popcorn boxes, and I scattered them all on top of the table. As party favors send your guests home with their very own swag bags. The ones I made contained a fashion magazine, scented lotion, lip balm, and chocolates. As you can see it doesn’t have to be stressful or complicated to throw your own viewing party, with these easy ideas you too can create your very own viewing party. Dr. Seuss Party by: A Lively Affair
I
wanted to host a fun and whimsical party for my son and a few of his friends. After a trip to Target (you know that strategically placed “Dollar Spot” section) I found some great and inexpensive mini lunch boxes, tote bags, a “Dream Big” sign and loads of classroom supplies. I pulled together the remaining decor in red, turquoise, white and silver color palette. A quick trip to the fabric store in search of a classic Dr. Seuss print proved successful and I quickly whipped up runners for the table. For a little twist, I placed runners across the table perpendicular instead of the traditional manner of placing a runner along the length of a table which also allowed it to serve as a place mat. Like a great haircut, a good tablescape is all about layering. Linen, runner, charger, plates, tableware, glasses, etc. While you certainly won’t make the same effort as you would for an adult dinner party, pulling together a few of these elements sure can make a kids party feel special. I re-purposed red plastic chargers and the glass milk bottles which are part of existing my party prop stash. Add washi tape, paper straws, name plates, tote bag and lunch box party favors and fresh flowers and the table is done! I love the retro-industrial look of good old metal lockers. I was lucky to source a free set via my neighborhood list serve (similar to Craigslist), spray painted them with a fresh coat of glossy white paint and voila! Crisp, clean lockers for the price of a few cans of spray paint. I also re-purposed red lanterns that are part of my party prop stash. Layered tassel and composition paper garlands, colorful balloon backdrop and a variety of sweet treats make any party complete. My last little touch for an extra special party were custom t-shirts for each guest. Cat in the Hat tees with their respective monogram that can be worn again for events like Dr. Seuss’s birthday. Hip, Hip, Hooray... let’s make it a GREAT day!

Over the Rainbow St. Patrick’s Day Party by: Everyday Party Magazine

hat is more fun than a party? A party with unlimited cupcakes, frosting, and toppings! That was the inspiration behind Stefani’s St. Patrick’s Day celebration for her littler guys and their friends. All of the decor was in her “magic garage” or easily made at home. The table square is a fabric scrap, and the cake plates are candle sticks with white dish-ware on top. The backdrop was made by sewing round pieces of rainbow paper together. It’s such an easy, but it makes such a fun statement! She baked cupcakes and popped them into cute little cups, but left them undecorated. She made rainbow colored frosting and added one color to each bag, securing the bags closed with adorable striped bag toppers. Then she added a few small bowls of toppings (of course she included gold coins for the end of the rainbow!) and let the kiddos decorate to their hearts content! The kids had a great time, and it was a relatively stress free St. Patrick’s Day celebration. Vendor Credits: Styling, printables, and photography: Stefani, Everyday Party Magazine

Vintage Garden Baby Shower by: Carmen Navarro Designs
A
s an event stylist, I design fabulous parties for everyone. But when I design a party for family, I literally pour every ounce of my heart and even more in to it. When deciding on a theme for this baby shower for my soon to be sister in law, I knew it had to be Girly. The mother to be “Caila” is in the Air force and is surrounded by masculinity on a daily basis. So girling it up was a must. Mother loves flowers, so instantly I thought garden. I threw in the vintage aspect, since we had a lot of cool vintage pieces, and lots and lots of lace. This is where Vintage Garden came to life. There was so much attention to detail in this shower. The overflowing of floral used everywhere, dessert table, centerpieces, chalk signs, there was literally flowers everywhere. Custom made linens were hand made for this shower, and were made with love by Carmen. One fun feature from this shower was definitely the dessert table. It was a show stopper and the first thing you saw when you entered the shower. Immediately being drawn in to the cascading Sheer curtains, where the bird cages laid filled with treats. The handmade baby “Hailey” name sat in front of the also handmade fabric backdrop. The diaper cake sat perfectly on a cake stand. And the cake itself was delicious, a red velvet with a cream cheese frosting. And the scent of flowers filled the air. It really was a dreamy garden shower. That all guests still talk about. It was an honor to design this shower for a hard working woman who proudly serves our country. We know when Baby Hailey gets older, she definitely will have some amazing photos of her shower. Easter Cookies by: P retty P retty Pastries Easter is one of my favorite holidays for so many reasons! The meaning, the pastels, springtime, and of course, the parties. A tradition in my family was always an annual egg dying party. This year I decided I wanted to try my own spin on that tradition with my daughter. A cookie egg “dying” party. A little less messy and just as much, if not more, fun! I attempted to outline a few designs on the cookies using edible markers for my daughter, which may work great for older children, but my toddler is definitely a color outside the lines kind of girl. My daughter had so much fun painting these! I even got in on the fun. And the best part is I can now add my daughter’s beautiful creations to our dessert table at our Easter brunch Vendors: DIY and Photography by Heather Anne Naples from Pretty Pretty Pastires
Supplies: Egg shaped sugar cookie covered in your choice of color royal icing. (Let the icing dry overnight before decorating to make sure it’s hard enough) Tray for “paints” Paintbrush Assorted gel food coloring Clear Vanilla Extract Optional: Edible Markers Add a small drop of gel food coloring in a tray compartment. Easter Celebration by Everyday Party Magazine
Spring is here; flowers are blooming, gardens are growing, birds are chirping, and the air is fresh! Spring has always been one of my favorite seasons, it’s a chance for new beginnings. Our Easter celebration was inspired by my sweet friend, Kori Clark’s water color bunnies and carrots available in the Cricut Design Space Store. Our table was decorated with our very best rustic vintage wood crates and boxes, and metal buckets. Flowers and fresh veggies with stems helped soften the palette. Moss covered rocks and simple glassware added a little more charm too. We served delicious treats, tasty fruits, and crisp veggies; including a naked chocolate cake, “dirt” brownies with butter cream grass and Starburst candy carrots. The printable party suite from Kori’s design for Cricut was easily customized to create bag toppers for bunny tails, straw flags, food labels, and even iron on embellishments for shirts and tea towels! Having all the designs so easily available and editable made designing this party a cinch! I hope you have a Hoppy Easter, filled with blessings for your fresh new beginnings! Vintage Country Birthday Celebration by: Cupcake Wishes & Birthday Dreams
W
hat an amazing journey of life to be able to reach your 70th birthday! Our family had the honor of hosting a birthday celebration for my Mother-In-Law. As a nod to her growing up in the rural south and her love for cooking baking, I chose to work with a vintage style country kitchen feel. Inspired by a floral patterned placemat and napkins purchased from Ikea, I worked with a pastel pink, green and white color scheme. Our dinner was going to be very informal so, the goal was to go simple with the place setting. I covered the table with a lace overlay and only placed gold chargers onto the table topped with a napkin and tableware. Then I decorated the length of the table by shopping my party stash. I set out small ceramic birds and created groupings of florals, by placing small bunches of flowers in beaded glass jars. Four our dessert station, I placed copper molds on the wall to create some visual interest and a backdrop. My husband made her favorite yellow cake with chocolate buttercream that I topped with a paper topper. The buffet was also decorated with a small banner to coordinate with the color scheme. We welcomed a host of relatives for our dinner. My mother-in law was surrounded by her, great grand-children, grand-children, nieces, sisters and her three sons! The most wonderful moment was seeing how proud and honored she felt to be surrounded by so much love and I know having all that attention on her didn’t hurt one bit! oming up with an idea for my daughter’s 1st birthday theme was a no brainer. I am enamored by fantasies and fairytales, so I chose to style an Enchanted Forest party. For this celebration, the color scheme consisted of shades violet, green and gold. Moss was an important element in this project to evoke a feeling of fresh dewy woods. Since it was around time for Easter, bunnies were key focal points. I also created beautiful floral chandeliers and coordinating floral initial letters for the birthday girl. There was also a bar cart just for the grown-ups. At the end of this fabulous fete, guests walked away with whimsical treat bags filled with goodies. A few party details to look out for are the matching cookies (The Baked Equation) and invitations (House of Creative Designs). Honeycomb tassels were provided by Glam Fete. The fairy centerpiece was designed by Ten 23 Designs. Favor tags, water bottle labels, and a birthday banner was designed by Hostess With The Mostess. A few of my personal faves were the bunny shaped Rice Krispie Treats and chocolate covered Oreos created by Sweet Fixx STL. The delightful birthday cake was made by Pum’s Sweets. Finally, the name lollipops were by Vintage Confections. Sugar & Spice Baby Shower
by:Tutus and Bowties Events

o you want to know the way to an expectant mama’s heart? Well, it’s treating her like a royalty and feeding her delicious treats with just the right mix of sugar and spices. Celebrate the mother-to-be in your life with a “Sugar and Spice” theme shower just in time for baby’s arrival. We styled this popular theme with chic florals and chalkboard elements for a fun twist. We were inspired by this classic and sweet scalloped baby shower invitation from Tiny Prints. The invitation is adorned with the popular phrase, “Sugar and Spice and Everything Nice” which is perfect theme for baby girls. I thought it would be fun to play on those words and sprinkle in baking and cooking elements in throughout our design. You will see hints of the theme as scroll through the photos from this beautiful shower. We used a clean and simple tablescape design. As a lover of all things florals, we layered in a runner with a floral print plus a gorgeous garland of beautiful florals to add a pop of color to the center of our table. Each guest’s setting included a textured platinum charger, spotted patterned dining plate, and a set of beautiful aqua and blush pink dinner napkins. We loved sneaking in a few of the baking elements with our flour pot name cards and chalkboard styled menus that compliment the invitation. To add the final detail, we created a beautiful yet simple backdrop of our letter mylar balloons to spell out the word “Baby”, which you can find our shop. A gorgeous chalkboard backdrop dressed with
hand written calligraphy served as a functional masterpiece! We love designing stations that encourage event guest to mix and mingle. A waffle bar is a simple way to accomplish this and is the perfect touch of sugar and spice. Ask guests to pick their favorite spices to sprinkle into the waffle mix. We used some of our seasonal favorites including cinnamon, pumpkin, and vanilla spices…YUM! Once the waffles are grilled and ready, an assortment of fun toppings were waiting for guests to the perfect touch. We used candied rainbow sprinkles, fresh fruit, mini marshmallows, powered sugar and whipped cream. Remember when I mentioned we would sneak in a few cooking and baking elements? Well check out the beautiful teal mixer that served as the pot for our gorgeous array of florals and the mini season shakers and flour pots! I know simply genius! Thank you for checking out our Sugar & and Spice Baby Shower. We hope that you are inspired to plan a baking theme shower of your own. Kate Spade Birthday Party by Two Penn Studio

ith the {adorable} Kate Spade clothing line for young girls, we are getting more requests for Kate Spade parties. It was immediately what Charynn’s daughter asked for her 9th Birthday, and we were happy to accommodate! The birthday girl had specific requests for her party: sparkles, pink, and a chocolate fountain! We went with a hot pink, black, white and gold theme, with lots of multicolor sparkles. Using clean, classic lines and fonts to mimic the style of Kate Spade, we styled a long dining table for all of the girls, a dessert table, a food table featuring mini foods, a chocolate fountain bar, and a mock-tail cart for the girls (that quickly was taken over by the grown-ups). The dining table was dressed with white linens, a black and white stripe table runner, and hot pink gerbera daisies and roses in custom vases. The place settings were white with hot pink napkins, with a simple black spade in the center of each plate. Each setting had a glass adorned with the sample black spade. Single domed glass cupcake stands finished off the table. The girls absolutely loved the mini-foods that were created for the party! They all wanted to make them for dinner at home. The favorites were mini mac-and-cheese bites, mini hot dogs, mini grilled cheese with tiny cups of homemade tomato soup, mini meatball subs, and mini chicken and waffles. The dessert table included a selection of custom-made desserts: a 3-tier cake with gold spade topper on a custom glittered cake stand, mini spade cheesecakes, a display of different (glittery!) cake pops, framed spade and sparkle “9” sugar cookies, cupcakes, gold and sparkle macarons, milk and cookies, chocolate covered oreos, and popcorn cups in custom gift bags for each girl to take home. The chocolate fountain bar held an array of “dippable” items, like mini
donuts, pretzels, fruit, cream puffs, marshmallows, and more! A custom, foiled art print with “Eat Chocolate with Everything was an added special touch that the birthday girl wanted to keep for her bedroom. Each girl went home with a personalized lucite tray, desserts, and custom bow bracelets, all in a Kate Spade treat bag. Ava’s Wild Giraffe Party by: Blessed Events - The Gift of Giving
A
child’s favorite animal makes for a great birthday theme. Susan of Blessed Events - The Gift of Giving took this little girls love of giraffe’s and created a fun party had by all who attended. Good food, sweet treats and activities are a recipe for a great kids party. Giraffe print in colors of tan and cream were highlighted against the other party colors of pink and blue. The main table was draped with pink and blue tablecloths. A tan runner down the middle topped with grasses and pink giraffe’s hinted of the plains of the savanna in Africa where the giraffe’s live. The centerpiece of the table was a wood giraffe with the birthday girls name on it painted in the colors of the party by Glitter Girlz Events and Designs. Lollipics with the birthday girls picture on them were placed on the giraffe print plates for the kids to enjoy at the party or take home as a favor. The birthday girl wore a crown created by Shawna Brockmeier Styled Events. The crown incorporated all the birthday colors and patterns and had a cute little stuffed giraffe in the middle. The dessert table was dressed in a pink and blue tulle skirt by A Special Touch Events Planning and was topped with a variety of sweet treats to choose from. The show stopper on the dessert table was definitely the two-tiered animal print cake by the birthday girls mom, Tutu Bella. Other delicious treats to choose from included chocolate covered Oreo’s topped with cute giraffe faces and pink bows by Kima’s Konfections, giraffe face cookies with the sweetest little expressions by Sweet Factory, cupcakes topped with cute fondant giraffe faces by Kima’s Konfections, and almost too cute to eat giraffe head cake pops by Sparkling Sweets Boutique. A make your own s’mores bar was available as well. After filling up with lunch and sweet desserts the activities began. Giraffe ears and tails were provided for the kids to get silly with. Stations to get your face painted and nails wrapped in Jamberry giraffe print were set up for the kids to enjoy. The girls loved the nail station but the boys
passed on that one and just got their faces painted. Favor boxes with tags to match the party theme created by Swishprintables were filled with candy, cookies and Lollipics. After the boxes were filled with sweet treats they were tied with giraffe print ribbon. Hockey Birthday Party by: BellaGrey Designs
E
ach year my son requests a sports themed birthday party! This year was no different, he chose Hockey! Out of all the sports out there, is one is my personal favorite! I decided it would be great to have the party in an actual locker room. I know it smells, but it’s a Hockey Party after all! I contacted our local Dr. Pepper StarCenter Ice Arena to start the planning process. This is my first time not having my son’s parties at our home, so it took a lot more planning and communication with the staff. As soon as I saw the locker room, I started styling it in my mind. I knew immediately how it was going to look. I got to work! First, I needed to gather all the props. I borrowed jerseys and sticks from my brother-in-law and one of our friends. Hockey skates and a helmet were also provided. I purchased this fabulous Stanley Cup, which by the way, is actually a popcorn maker ~ how awesome is that?! I used one of my son’s mini Hockey nets on top of the table and a few used pucks, as well as his Dallas Stars foam finger. Since we had the party at the ice arena, I wanted to provide some warm beverages for our guests. I created a Hot Cocoa Bar complete with some must have add-ins, like soft caramel candies, candy canes, regular and peppermint marshmallows. Hot Apple Cider and water bottles customized with the birthday boy’s age, first initial and “Shoots and Scores” labels, were also an option! Of course, you can’t have a Hot Beverage Bar without some seriously awesome stir sticks! The mini hockey player stir sticks were a hit! The aroma of the popcorn and our welcome sign, led our guests into the locker room to change into their ice skates for a little fun on the ice before settling down to eat pizza and enjoy cake! The main table hosted many mini bites of goodness, such as, Hockey sticks {pretzel rods}, Pucks {mini Oreos}, Ice {ice blue rock candy}, Hockey sticks made out of candy canes, Snowballs {cotton candy}, and few fruit options that are the birthday boy’s favorites. Can not forget the
main attraction, the Puck birthday cake and Hockey Skate cookies! Both were delicious and gone in a matter of minutes. The table set up for the kids to eat at was covered with a tablecloth that looked like a Hockey sheet of ice and decorated with the party favors. At each setting, a goalie mask was set upon the dinner plate and napkin. I randomly scattered current Hockey Trading cards on the table along with mini Hockey sticks, which the kids took home as their party favors along with a few trading cards. Because Greyson loves the Dallas Stars, I incorporated a few of his personal items into the party, to make it even more special, such as his Seguin’s jersey and foam finger. The room was decorated with grey, black and green balloons along with a few banners that read, Happy Birthday Greyson and Concessions. I placed the jerseys on hockey sticks and set them atop of the pegs around the room. This party was a huge success and the kids had a great time, as did a few of the adults! Once I wrapped my head around not having the party at my house, everything flowed very nicely. I hope I inspired you to have your own Hockey Party!
