Board 1 : Research
Bar Larumba is a new bar due to open in 2014 in Bournemouth, the company is a start up business so they have a small budget when it comes to the interiors. I was asked to create a screen print for the bar therefore I looked at my faveourite tapas mexican resturant Wahaca. The resturants that I have been to are mainly in London, where they have super cool interiors and murals painted on the wall .

Board 3 : Developing the print
Bar La Rumba were quite open to the design and wanted me to be in control of the whole process, however I didn’t want to waste time on something they didn’t like so I quickly did some skecthes of my idea and sent it off to them via email. When I got the go ahead I exposed the screens ready to print.

Bar Larumba briefed me on the sort of style and aesthetic they intended the interiors of the bar to be which was a fun and vibrant space full of mexican themed artwork. Through some quick research I illustrated some mexican wrestling masks, sombreros hats, spanish guitar etc. I pitched the design to the bar, outlining my intentions to screenprint and frame the artwork. They loved the illustrations and the colours inspired them to create a colour pallet for the interiors of the bar space

Board 4 : Screen print
Below are the final outcomes of the screen printed artwork. I really like the different printing effects you get from the type of paper you use, the amount of ink on the screen etc therefore I a concious effort to celebrate the inperfections of the print, I think it added a lot of charactor to the illustrations.
