How To: Grow A Hemp Plant by: Morgan Magda

There is so much information being formulated and passed around about the benefits of hemp. The reasons to grow and support hemp are seemingly endless now a days. With the passing of the new farm bill most people, in most states, are now able to grow hemp. Whether you want to be a large-scale hemp farmer or take care of a single plant there are some basics you need to know first. Purdue Universities article “Hemp Production” provides growers with fool proof facts about how to grow hemp. Hemp is so versatile it can be grown in a variety of climates and should always be planted after the last frost. Hemp thrives in warm weather and well-drained soils with a lot of organic matter. Brian Gilkison spoke to the New York Times and said, “If you want something that’s going to yield good, put it on good ground.” The seeds can be directly sown into the earth about .75- 1.25 inches deep. The rate varies depending on variety. Hemp is mostly drought tolerant but during the first six weeks of cultivation the seedlings require plenty of rain. Regular nitrogen inputs are required of 100-130 lbs. per acre to ensure fertility. Hemp plants are an annual plant meaning they are harvested need to be replanted each spring and are harvested in Autumn. If we pay attention and give what is growing tender care we grow healthier plants and healthier lives. We reap what we sow. source: https://dev.purduehemp.org/hemp-production/

Hempseed Oil & CBD Skin Care by: Morgan Magda When it comes to skin, natural, plant-based products are always the best move. CBD and hemp-seed oil skin care products have grown in popularity amongst people who crave naturally healthy and revitalized skin. While CBD is derived from Hemp, and both are beneficial for the skin, they are not the same thing and can have slightly different effects. They are both wonderful staples in one’s skin care routine and paired together they become a naturally derived powerhouse for skin health! Using Hemp-Seed Oil on Skin Ministry of Hemp explains, hemp-seed oil contains all nine essential amino acids. Amino acids help the skin to generate collagen and elastin and allows skin to retain more moisture. including omega 3 and omega 6 making it ideal for moisturizing. Omega 3’s can actually restore our cell-structure and rid our skin of toxins.

Hemp-seed oil also contains Vitamin E, C, and B. Vitamin E is an antioxidant that encourages healthy skin-tissue growth. Vitamin C aids in skin elasticity, tone, and brightness. Lastly, Vitamin B firms the skin by providing fatty acids. Using At a comedogenic rating of 0 it will not clog pores. Instead it will reduce redness of pimples and prevent further breakouts. On the body, hemp can ease and reduce muscle pain and inflammation and can treat skin conditions such as eczema and psoriasis while providing anti-biotic and anti-fungal protection. Using hemp-seed oil on your skin is more than safe it is nourishing and healing! Many conventional skin care products are made with crude oils that are harsh on the skin and even harder on the environment. Hemp-seed oil is completely renewable, making it an environmentally friendly option for skin care. Using CBD on Skin A lot of skin issues today are caused from inflammation. Due to its strong antiinflammatory effects many people are turning to CBD for skin care relief. Rachel Lapidos of Well and Good, reports on the increased use of CBD for healthy skin and cites an important study that backs it’s anti-inflammatory powers. This study breaks down CBD and skin-health. The endocannabinoid system in our body is responsible for maintaining homeostasis in our bodies. By interacting with many of our bodies systems it detects and regulates pain and inflammation, hunger, mood, memory, and more. Many things effect our endocannabinoid system causing it to become imbalanced or inactive. Ingesting and/or applying CBD restores balance to this system. The healing and balancing effects of CBD on the skin are numerous. CBD topicals ease inflammation, reduces acne, prevents wrinkles, and alleviates dry skin. CBD is suited for all skin types and will not clog pores. Its anti-inflammatory properties soothe skin of soreness, itchiness, and puffiness while gently moisturizing making CBD a perfect addition into your self-care rituals. Whether your skin is craving a drink of moisture, relief from inflammation, or overall long-term healing CBD and Hemp can be relied on as an eco-friendly natural product for all your skin needs. sources: https://www.wellandgood.com/good-looks/i-tried-cbd-skincare-products/ https://ministryofhemp.com/blog/hemp-skin-benefits/ https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/PMC4151231/
