Forever Young By Cedric Nettles After nearly 2 decades, musician Terrence Young Is Still Killing It Congrats, we selected you to be recognized for your stellar career and commitment to community impact through your music. My uncles were all musicians and they were my biggest influences. I started playing at 10 years old and they always encouraged me to make a career out of it, but know the business first and foremost. I took their advice later and created 2 successful groups Finesse Band which is a Corporate/ Party Band and my solo jazz group The Terence Young Experience. This year 2020 is 18th anniversary with my groups.
Exclusive with Terrence Young How did your music keep you going? Music kept me Going in many ways. For one, imagine doing what you love to do and making a great living out of it. Music is my hobby, vacation and job all in one. It’s an escape from life challenges and stress and I can express myself emotionally through my music. Could you talk about your most memorable concert? My most memorable concert is when I opened for the Legendary Motown Duo Ashford and Simpson and technically ended up playing for them. Their band got stuck in a Snow Storm in New York so they ask me to be the music director and having to learn their entire show in 3 hours along with rehearsing with them. That was a nervous, stressful and an awesome experience.
