BLOGGER | WRITER Dominique Ali

Fashion-Plus Blogger Dominique Ali Talks with Celebrity Publicist Ms. Lawrence What inspires you? What inspires me? Living everyday life, knowing that no one goes through struggles alone even if during that time we feel as if we do. I want to let other people know that despite the box others like to keep you in, that doesn’t mean you have to stay there. It’s more fun to Color outside the lines! Describe your life’s purpose My life’s purpose is to prove that the size of a woman has no barring on her ability to be great. Also, I want to pursue my life long love of writing, I’ve always wanted to reach out to people through it; that’s how my blog came about. What has been your biggest obstacle? My biggest obstacle is finding enough time in the day to either take care of my family, write, workout, plan my posts, and visit events. I wish I could clone myself sometimes so that everything can get done at once.

Was there ever a time you wanted to give up? Yes, there were times. But I reminded myself that nothing worth having ever came easy, and I pushed forward. What does moral obligation mean for you? Moral obligation means to me that a person, any person has to repect the integrity of their art and pursue their truth in it. If you could change anything about your life. What would you change? I wouldn’t change a thing, each success and obstacle made me who I am, without them I would lack an understanding of what people go through and I wouldn’t be able to talk to each reader and know exactly how they feel in the moments they are felt. What’s your why? My why is simple, the answer is why not. Every voice with merit , and passion for their art deserves to be heard. Background, race, gender, whatever stereotype you can think of, does not matter. What matters is the impact you want to make with your craft, and working hard to be credible with observations.

What inspires you? Trying to be a great father and role model for my son. Being suppotive for my wife and family. Being the best helicopter reporter that I can be and to keep the great people of Chicago informed. Describe your life’s purpose Simply put to be a good person. Treat others with respect and kindness. Be true to myself, my values, and my faith. What has been your biggest obstacle? Overcoming setbacks in my career and personal life, and having the patience and strength to persevere in those situations. Believing in myself at times when it seems that others may not. Was there ever a time you wanted to give up?

Only during some very brief bad moments. I am constantly reminded of how fortunate I am, how good I have it, and how there are so many people worse off than me. What does moral obligation mean for you? Trying your best to do the right thing, especially when nobody is looking. Giving great effort to my family and my work even when I am tired or frustrated. If you could change anything about your life. What would you change? I would have spent more time with family and friends, especially those who have passed away (my father for example). I also would have further my education and traveled more. What’s your why?

Jas Anderson Acting is My Purpose

Tangie Black Moore and Syleena Johnson Making their cases for television series supremacy

Both ladies stated that they wanted to show a very authentic view of relationships. They also hinted to a little flack by some viewers about the ending but stuck to their guns with why they presented the story as they did.

Interview by: Cedric Nettles

The rationale of the film conveys that in real life , people compromise more often than we realize in matters of the heart. We judge from the outside in until we find ourselves in similar situations.

Couples Therapy is a superbly conceived storyline by talented executive producer Tangie Black Moore and a tale fueled by the emotionally charged and sultry vocals of R&B sensation Syleena Johnson’s music. Couples Therapy is a story of the raw, relatable reflection of real life relationship issues. Moore praises Johnson for her music being the inspiration for the story. “The music was placed right where it is supposed to be…” Moore raved not only about Johnson’s music but Johnson’s acting debut “Homegirl slammed dunked it…. It gave me an opportunity to see how layered she was in this art.” The very unassuming Johnson got a good chuckle from Moore’s praise but they both collaborated very well to create a very engaging story that viewers responded very positively to. Later in my interview with Moore and Johnson I made the assertion that writers have to be real and sometimes make the audience a little mad in order to make the story gel. As I expected they agreed because Couples Therapy was pretty uncompromising.

“Women have stayed with men that beat them, and cheated on them in front of their faces…” Johnson says … ”People need to stop playing games.” Johnson further states with conviction in her excellent points. The one thing that is clear from this film and performance, marriage is a serious matter to the two and healing was very much a part of what the film was trying to portray. As our discussion continued we were not left lacking in an aura of irony as the whole notion of Couples Therapy being just another run of the mill ‘chick flick’ men cringed to was serendipitously debunked. “I was really excited by the response of men” She says that many men who saw the movie were very pleased with the balanced approach to the story as a whole and sexuality was only one part of the whole scope of marriage. As a fellow writer I found it refreshing that Johnson and Moore agreed with me that in general all artists have something they have to say through their work. Continue..

“Artists don’t know any other way but to emote through our gifts… We are borderline crazy.” Johnson declares. (That got a hearty laugh between the three of us)

The dynamic duo of Moore and Johnson look forward to making this amazing story a series, and most viewers agree the case was already made with this storyline, but the case was made stronger because of the collaborative efforts by these two gifted young ladies. Take a bow ladies for bringing substance to relationships with no apologies.

Talented executive Tangie Black Moor producer e

Dear Mom; I know it isn’t, much but I’ve decided to write you a little Your so self-less, it amazes me. I asked you SO letter to tell you everything you mean to me. MANY times what you wanted for mothers day but you couldn’t think of your wants! “Get me an ink jet” I was looking for cards for you the other day, something “what do you want to get me?” that you would like, and that could get my point across but wasn’t to mushy. It’s a hard compromise to make. It’s so hard to find something this year because I realized, that I don’t give you as much credit as you So I said to myself “Self, why not make her a card?” But deserve, flowers don’t do you justice. then I was thinking about it today, and I’m not the most I want to pamper you, I want to hire an astronaut to poetic. write how much I love you on the moon. Diane Mozzone Actress & Model

Interview by Celebritiy Publicist Ms. Lawrence

Diane Mozzone Takes a Moment to Share her “Why?” with Celebrity Publicist Ms. Lawrence

Ms. Lawrence: What inspires you? Diane Mozzone: Motivated people inspire me. The energy they emit channels directly to my being, and I feel fulfilled as we share experiences and seek growth. Learning from others and hearing their stories have enabled me to acquire the compassion and determination I need to “heat the fire” at work and home. Ms. Lawrence: Describe your life’s purpose Diane Mozzone: My life’s purpose is to inspire others into believing in themselves. I feel I must help people who are open to furthering their own success. I do this through teaching, tutoring, networking for others, sharing my own personal experiences, kindness and generosity. Moreover, I believe higher education has been the most important asset I hold, as I have been taught to think critically on matters. Ms. Lawrence: What has been your biggest obstacle? Diane Mozzone: The biggest obstacle I have had to face in life is misinterpretation by others of my intention, which is to help them. I am extremely motivated and don’t believe in excuses. Learning to accept responsibility for my actions and forgiving myself and others have propelled me ahead, as well as identifying unforeseen obstacles as they emerge. Ms. Lawrence: Was there ever a time you wanted to give up?

Diane Mozzone: Never. When I want to do something, as long as I don’t hurt others, I believe I should do it. It’s what’s right for me. I have to answer to God, society and myself. Ms. Lawrence: What does moral obligation mean for you? Diane Mozzone: Moral obligation means to me that I should strive to take care of myself, others, and the environment around me. Therefore, I am in the position to truly make a difference. Ms. Lawrence: If you could change anything about your life. What would you change? Diane Mozzone: I would have liked to have immediately changed the methods I used in pursuing success when I recognized they weren’t working. Often, in the music and modeling businesses, one particular thing would hold me up, and I knew it. For example, a natural headshot. I always had pictures that illustrated an exotic, European look, rather than the natural tomboy I was. The evident solution was to pay a photographer to do what I knew was necessary, rather than him testing my pictures for free. The photos were aligned to their visions, or motivated to expand their portfolios. Now, I have learned to invest wisely, and am applying the lessons I learned to the talent industry. Ms. Lawrence: What’s your why? Diane Mozzone: The compelling question in my life is, “Why do people settle for less than what they could attain through motivation and hard work?”

KENDALL TRIPLETT I GIVE PRAISE..

Interview by Celebrity Publicist Ms. Lawrence Ms. Lawrence: What inspires you? Kendall Triplett: Fulfilling the plan of God for my life. Ms. Lawrence: Describe your life’s purpose Kendall Triplett: My life revolves around ministry. I enjoy demonstrating the love of God through serving. I love encouraging others and lifting up the name of the Lord in word and song. Ms. Lawrence: What has been your biggest obstacle? Kendall Triplett: As an indie artist, not having enough financial resources to further my ministry/career. Ms. Lawrence: Was there ever a time you wanted to give up? Kendall Triplett: I have wanted to give up many times. About 7 years ago, I became so discouraged until I had thoughts of giving up on life. The pressure of wanting to be successful in music and doing everything I knew to do but still not able to breakthrough let me angry and depressed. It wasn’t until I humbled myself and surrendered my selfish desires to follow God’s plan that I found my joy and fulfillment. Ms. Lawrence: What does moral obligation mean for you? Kendall Triplett: Moral obligation cannot not be fully realized until we lose sight of ourselves and lend a helping hand to others who are in need. Following Jesus Christ through studying His word and putting into practice His principles on a daily basis is how I choose to make a positive impact in my community. Ms. Lawrence: If you could change anything about your life. What would you change? Kendall Triplett: I am thankful to God for my life. There is nothing I wish to change.

The proposed budget cuts will directly affect Connections ability to assist 200 families. The gala and other ongoing fundraising efforts are crucial. BOOK AUTHOR PAUL HUNTER

WORKING TO INSPIRE THE WORLD

Interview by Celebrity Publicist Ms. Lawrence Contact: tam@exposureassociates.com

Ms. Lawrence: What inspires you? Paul Hunter: The Hunter family history has inspired me to become a dreamer and an achiever in my family. When you come from a family of 21 children, (17 living today) 63 grandchildren, and 86 great-grandchildren, you might think that someone in the past should have accomplished success. I have always looked at our history, and I discovered that despite a low dropout rate when it comes to high school graduates, there was not a single person in the family who had a college degree or wanted to pursue higher education. I wanted to change the Hunter family paradigm, so I laid the foundation. Even though the odds were against me, I became the first child out of 21 children to complete a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration from Upper Iowa University in 2012, and told my story in my book: No Love, No Charity: The Success Story of the 19th Child. Since my success, other family members have taken the initiative to pursue an education. By the way, Lau Tzu, stated, “If you correct your mind, the rest of your life will fall into place.” Ms. Lawrence: Describe your life’s purpose Paul Hunter: My purpose in life is to assist young men and women when it comes to education. I want to make sure they are Dreaming Big, Thinking Big, Speaking Big, Living Big, Smiling Big, and never giving up. Part of my purpose is sharing my life story with the many people I encounter. As a life coach and a motivational speaker, I will have the opportunity to visit The Boys and Girls Club, Big Brothers and Sisters, YMCA, and Leadership Academy this summer.

I am thrilled because I want to change young people’s thinking process, so my purpose in life is to inspire, empower, motivate, and educate them to take their academic skills and spiritual skills to the next level. If a person like me can come from the inner city to achieve success, I believe young men and women can accomplish their goals in life as well, but they will need Faith, Fortitude and Determination. Ms. Lawrence: What has been your biggest obstacle? Paul Hunter: My biggest obstacle in life was Fear. Once I began to research the word fear, I discovered that it really means FALSE EVIDENCE APPEARING REAL. Fear would haunt me while I was studying for a test. It whispered that I did not have the skills or talents to pass the test. Fortunately, I remembered the term Cognitive Restructuring from a Psychology class at Gateway Technical College while pursuing my Associate Degree in Supervisory Management. I learned to turn negative thoughts into positive statements. For example, if fear stated that I was not going to pass my math test, I turned it around and told myself that I am going to pass my math test, which I then did. This obstacle was a challenge for me mentally, but I was able to overcome it. Ms. Lawrence: Was there ever a time you wanted to give up? Paul Hunter: There were many times I wanted to give up during my educational journey to make family history. For example, I did not have the support of my mother. She taunted that I would not become a college graduate and that I would never amount to anything in the world. She stated, “A child is never supposed to become successful until the parents are deceased.” Her words made me want to give up, but I was focused on making history in the Hunter family. Furthermore, no matter what the pedigree from which we come or path that we have walked, we must always believe in ourselves. As Russell Wilson, quarterback of the Seattle Seahawks, quoted from his father when he questioned whether he could excel to greatness, his father said “Why not you?” That’s what we can learn from my story. No matter what disadvantages you face, “Why not you?”

Blurred Sounds The National Football League’s unspoken turf war between two of the premier presenters in audio technology. By Justin Dukes

Residing within the confines of Seattle Seahakws standouts Russell Wilson and Richard Sherman’s game day lockers are a pair of Bose QuietComfort25 headphones for the former and a pair of Beats Studio Wireless headphones for the latter; and although there is no fault in team mates differentiating in their audio device preferences, the National Football League (NFL) believes this scenario to be treading along the lines of a conflict of interest. Being a marketing juggernaut itself, the NFL cannot deny the existence of the boundless opportunities awaiting its employees, so long as said employees adopt the united front philosophy projected to the public by the NFL. In context, with the NFL’s sponsorship deal with Bose Corporation, and the ever growing interests in the Beats by Dre brand by its players, the ambiguous non-compete agreement dividing both sides, the more intriguing topic of discussion isn’t who’s wrong or right, but who’s winning. With a defiant smirk on his face, and tape covering the red “b’s” branded into his Beats headphones, as he prepares to take his seat at his post-game press conference, San Fransisco 49ers quarterback (QB) Colin Kaepernick, appears indifferent to voicing his opinion on the victor in the Bose and Beats turf war, and is instead expressing it with the garnishing of the company product he has been repeated-

ly reprimanded and fined for with minor alterations. The reason Bose takes a loss in the area of appeal among players is due to the NFL’s fickle image presentation within the past year regarding numerous public controversies. Plainly, stated, players likely won’t act in accordance with the image the NFL wants to be presented when the league itself has very little concept of that idea. “We didn’t do anything, and now the players are going out and putting black tape on our logo. It’s like, I can’t believe I’m this lucky. I feel like sending them the tape. What happened there, you have a tech company that’s culturally inept. There’s no one at the company that said, If you ban these guys, you’re going to look bad to the young people, and they’re going to look like superheroes even though they’re just pure capitalists... Well they’re not pure capitalists, but they’re real capitalists and they sold that company to Apple, but you’re going to make them look like the underdog.” said Beats by Dre co-founder and record/film producer Jimmy Lovine. Independent of their association with the NFL, as well as all other competition in consumer electronics, Bose has since 1965 been demonstrating a rare combination traits such as quality and consistency that many other businesses clamor to adopt. Long before Beats Electronics existed, the substance over style focus of a Philadelphia raised sound engineer and Massachusetts Institute of Technology professor named Dr. Amar Bose was laying the groundwork for one of the most established corporations in the world. CONTINUE NEXT PAGE ...

Richard Sherman’s declaration as “the best” cornerback in football at the conclusion of the 2013-14 conference championship game in one of the more eccentric post-game interviews in recent memory in some ways shows why Bose’s identity amongst players is only a partial victory. With a large wave of players resembling Sherman’s publicly perceived and on field traits of brash, outspoken, and eccentric; the contrasting reserved and traditional approach of Bose may not appeal to 100% of their target audience.

With all due respect to Beats by Dre co-founder Lovine, NFL players and many others were immediately sold based solely on the product’s name sake, Andre Young, popularly known as “Dr. Dre”. With his status as hip hop royalty, becoming self-made through his journey through the streets of Compton, the resonating sounds from his story and his headphones rang equally as loud among a large number of NFL players. Couple those elements with a vibrant, innovative headphone design with a focus on bass performance, and you have 40% of the headphone market share. Adoration and statistics aside, celebrity endorsement, especially in sports overall has done a huge part in elevating the Beats by Dre brand just as the brand has done for its supporters. Carolina Panthers QB and Beats by Dre endorser Cam Newton’s appearance in the new Power Beats 2 Wireless TV spot, shortly after leading his team over the Arizona Cardinals to its first playoff win in nine years was no coincidence.

Neither was the looks of indifference by dozens of NFL players faced with $10,000 fines for donning Beats by Dre headphones at NFL sanctioned events just as rumors began to circulate of Beats by Dre’s parent company, Apple being a wiling surrogate for those players. While the victor in the Beats vs. Bose brand war has gone to Beats by Dre as far as promotion goes, with celebrity endorsements, vibrant technology, flexible marketing positions and highly utilized social media outlets, there still is reason to believe Bose has sustained its relevance for so long for a reason. Whatever that reason may be, it remains to fuel the quality vs. quantity argument, while those from celebrity endorsers in the NFL to casual music lovers walking the streets are left to keep the marketing wheels turning.
