Understanding Europe The EU Compact Courses offer pupils an interactive introduction of European politics. The courses are 4-hour-long introductory courses into the European Union, targeted at secondary school students between 15 and 18. The course encourages young people to talk about the EU and to work with European topics in an informative and interactive way. The course content concentrates on three core topics: Why does the EU exist? – Milestones of EU-History Who is the EU? – EU Institutions What does the EU do? – Areas of EU Competence and Policy Domains This project has been initiated by the Schwarzkopf Foundation in the run-up to the European Elections 2014, and is carried through with the support of the European Parliament and the Mercator Foundation.
Understanding Europe and EYP-Ukraine We believe that the EU Compact Course is a great chance for your organization to recruit participants, to reach out to more target groups and to enlarge a network of young active multipliers who will make a change. This is why we want to spread a word about the EU Compact Courses. We want to work together with Ukrainian Youth NGOs who are interested to implement the EU Compact Course in their activities, especially, in regions, since EYP-Ukraine works on implementing the project in Kyiv.
Who are we looking for? We are looking for 20 participants (representatives of Ukrainian NGOs) who want to build up an EU Compact Course trainer team within their organisation, to realize these EU Compact Courses in your region. We look for 1-2 persons per region who are willing to introduce this project in their respective regions.
Understanding Europe is a project of the Schwarzkopf Foundation in partnership with the Zeitbild Media Group, made possible by the European Parliament and the Mercator Foundation.
