The 14th National Selection Conference of EYP Ukraine will take place in Lviv on July 14-18th for delegates, July 12-18th for officials or July 11-18th for the leadership and organisers. The President is expected to arrive in Lviv on the 11th of July before 12:00 EEST and the departure may be planned from Lviv on July 19 16:00 EEST onwards. July 12-13th will be dedicated to pre-session training of all teams. The Leadership of the Session is also expected to have a brunch with the Board of EYP Ukraine on July 19 around 11:00 EEST in Lviv and share first-hand feedback regarding the Session. The Session President is also invited to join one of the Organisers’ weekends via Skype or in person.

Head Organisers` Vision Umbrella topic focusing on industry, innovation and infrastructure The EYP Ukraine umbrella topic for the year is “Laying a strong foundation for a sustainable society”. It has the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development as the groundwork, yet it focuses on three certain goals. Lviv NSC will be aimed to elaborate on the goal No.9 – industry, innovation and infrastructure. “To reach this goal EYP Ukraine will encourage the discussion on inclusive and sustainable industrialisation, explaining the necessity of resource-use efficiency and adoption of clean and environmentally sound technologies and industrial processes. We believe that fostering of investments is essential to upgrade infrastructure and retrofit industries to make them sustainable. We will support the research on quality, reliable, sustainable and resilient infrastructure, including regional and transborder infrastructure.” We give the freedom to the Session President to phrase the session’s umbrella topic and committee topics together with the Chairs’ Team with a strong emphasis on the mentioned SDG. The President is also expected to take care of the academic aspect of the event at all stages.

Mental and Physical well-being The organising, as well as the officials’ team, will work on creating the safest, most trustworthy, pleasant, and welcoming environment to open everyone’s full potential during the session. This will also be achieved by holding first aid training during CJO days. Therefore, we would like each committee to remain a healthy environment for each participant’s personal comfort, growth and wellbeing. We are eager to minimise the gap between and bring closer delegates, chairs, MTMs, organisers and leadership as well as between different committees in order to give everyone an opportunity to find a certain path in EYP, get to know as many people as possible and improve together.

Educational emphasis As we consider EYP a perfect platform not only to socialise and develop but also for informal education and academic growth, we are aimed at putting a strong emphasis on giving this opportunity to the delegates. Comprehensive understanding of the EU politics in general and complete involvement into the resolution drafting process requires basic knowledge of the European institutions and governing bodies. Sadly, the latter is often superficial among the delegates, and among firstcomers from Ukraine in particular. Trying to overcome this gap step by step, we wish to bring innovation to EYP Ukraine events by adding Understanding Europe Crash Course in the schedule of the session. The primary reason for it is to give participants an efficient academic boost and to increase their knowledge of the EU institutions. We would be glad to elaborate on the right scheduling and delegates allocation for this part of the session with the President.

The selection criteria: excellent English language skills; academic ability to engage with a wide variety of current European issues; high sense of responsibility, strong motivation and commitment to further EYP’s objectives; extensive relevant EYP experience and a solid understanding of EYP; excellent planning and organisational skills; excellent leadership skills and an advanced understanding of group dynamics as well as the ability to provide feedback; ability to work as a member of a team and with individuals from various cultural and socio-economic backgrounds; ability to facilitate and work together with different teams;a strong personal vision for the Session and role; motivation to preside the particular session;extensive training experience: an ability to plan, run and evaluate training modules; a sense of awareness of one’s own strengths and weaknesses; ability to be an innovative, supportive and active leader; a positive record of pre-session and post-session reliability.
