CALL FOR APPLICATIONS Leadership Kharkiv'17 - 11th National Selection Conference of European Youth Parliament Ukraine. This year, EYP Ukraine organises the 11th National Selection Conference that will take place in Kharkiv from the 11th to 15th of July. For officials, the Session will start 2 days prior, on the 9th of July since we would like to have 2 days dedicated to the pre-session training. The Editor(s) and the Vice-Presidents are expected to arrive in Kharkiv on the 9th of July before 15:00 EET and the departure may be planned from Kharkiv on July 15 18:00 EET onwards.

VISION FOR THE SESSION Ukraine is a country at a critical historical moment, reaching towards European values while maintaining its own identity with strong integrity. A great many challenges lie in the country's immediate future. As a result, an open and stimulating environment has arisen, creating the ideal circumstances to organise a truly innovative session.

In Kharkiv, we want to celebrate uniqueness and embrace the fact that life is a learning experience, focusing mainly on self-development. As Socrates said: “Let him who would move the world first move himself.” EYP is all about seeking for growth and challenging ourselves. We aim the session, like no other to be able to make all of the participant whole, at the same time, having a deep hope that everyone can contribute to its collective since taking and giving is the essence of expansion. Know who you are, and be it. Know what you want, and go out and get it! Collaboration is important not just because it's a better way to learn. The spirit of collaboration is penetrating every institution and all of our lives. So learning to collaborate is part of equipping yourself for effectiveness, problem solving, innovation and life-long learning.

Eastern Europe is a place where, because of historic and geopolitical reasons, tradition meets modernity. This session will be a great opportunity to implement better solutions that meet new requirements and unarticulated needs. For good ideas you need human interaction, conflict, argument and debate. It leads to innovation, which key ingredients are the ability to challenge already existing solutions and break rules. In 2000, European Union made “united in diversity” its official motto. It means that, via the EU, Europeans are united in working together for peace and prosperity, and that the many different cultures, traditions and languages in Europe are a positive asset for the continent. Kharkiv ‘17 will be a challenge to recognise and promote a genuine diversity within its participants. Unity is not uniformity, but the challenge is to identify and maintain coherence and unity within a diverse body. Eventually, the session will be held under the umbrella theme “Securing the future”. We happen to live in an unstable and complicated world. Democratic values and an idea of integration and cooperation are facing a serious threat. It will be a great opportunity to debate and elaborate on the topics regarding social, political, technological and environmental issues, bothering and challenging us now. We need to cooperate in order to build sustainable future and create aware society.

EDITORS The Editor(s) will be given an absolute freedom in conveying their ideas. We invite them to pursue and embrace the theme of the session alongside with the building blocks of my vision while being free to choose their own means and ways of expression. Media Team Members are more than welcome to take part in academic aspects of the session: creating visual infographics and editing overview videos. In terms of that, we will aim to create an interactive website. Therefore, the ability to design websites is extremely desired. The work of the Media Team is mostly based on results. It's about affecting the session community in the most progressive way. We encourage the Editor(s) alongside with Journalists to challenge themselves in finding a new and innovative ways of doing so. Moreover, the Editor(s) will play a crucial role in the leadership team of the session, being invited to take part in the meetings with Head-Organisers and President. We want them to be fully involved in shaping the whole session. VICE-PRESIDENTS A Board of the session plays a crucial role throughout all of the session, being responsible for the academic pre-session preparation, as well as continuous support for all of the officials, putting emphasis on the Chairs Team. Vice-Presidents should not be overwhelmed with the unbearable amount of work as the experience must also be educative and stimulating for them. The main focus of the Board will be planning the pre-session preparation, Chairs Academic training and constant observation and evaluation of the Chairpersons’ performance. This will include interactive video modules and skype meetings tailored to one’s expectations. Everyone is different and the main aim should be to embrace all the various needs. The Board will aim to convey all the necessary knowledge and techniques thanks to well-prepared training strategy before the actual arrival to the session. Secondly, the President, as well as the Vice-Presidents, will focus on individual mentoring and support the Chairs Team during periodical Buddy Group meetings. Each member of the Board will be responsible for a third part of the Chairs Team, aiming to develop one to one relations so as to improve the work of the whole team through an individual scheme of corrections and strategy of personal development. Moreover, the session aims to have an external trainer who will be responsible for supporting the Board in training process, helping in creating a sustainable strategy based on everyone’s needs. The ambition about the training is to work out the common innovative training strategy, not only focusing on its form but also on

content, reaching far beyond the ordinary charing academic training. In terms of a structure of the work inside the Board, the aim is to have “flat board” where all members are equal and they work on the same level, within theirs subgroups and specific portfolios.
