Dear delegates, Congratulations! If you are reading this, it means that you have been given the opportunity to participate in Kyiv 2017 Regional Session of EYP Ukraine! After more than five years in the European Youth Parliament I can say both from my own experience and from the people I have met, that this conference has the potential to have a great positive impact on your life. Whether it will be the start of a long journey or just a single event, this is your opportunity regardless, and it is up to you to decide how to make use of it. I have seen EYP as a place to connect with people from all over Europe. It is an opportunity to find like-minded, other-minded and open-minded individuals, who will teach you about yourself, about your differences with other people, and about the impact you make on them. It is a place to make friends who will inspire you like noone else . And between us: especially EYP Ukraine is known as a place to have fun ;) My role at the event will not be to judge you, not to agree or disagree, not to tell you what to do, how to work, or who you should be. Instead, me, my Vice-Presidents, and my Chairs Team are determined to create the best learning environment for you, to give you the space to make a positive contribution, and to help you get the best out of yourself! Therefore I will not be asking from you to behave like the “perfect delegate”, or to show your capabilities, but rather to have an open and constructive attitude towards those around you. This way, I am convinced that you and all those around you can use this opportunity to get everything out of this experience! I wish you good luck and mainly a lot of fun while preparing for this conference and I am looking forward to meet you in Kyiv! Yours sincerely, Samuël David Nelemans (NL) President of the Kyiv Regional Session
PRESIDENT OF KYIV RS
Dear delegates of Kyiv Regional Session, It is my utmost pleasure to welcome you all to the session and this journey which will hopefully change something about the way you see the world in one way or another. As the Editor of the session, my responsibilities will be to oversee the work of the Media Team and to ensure that the content we produce reaches you, the ones you know and all the ones you don’t. What do I mean by that? Well... Our media team will not only aim to produce content with purpose but it will also aim to produce content which is insightful and meaningful to those outside the bubble of EYP just as much as those within it. Therefore, we will aim to have our content reach not only you but those you know outside of EYP and people like us outside EYP in general. We, as the Media Team do not only want to produce content for you to look at but we also want you to have an input on this content. What would you like to see at the session? What are you curious about? How can we orient our content in a way in which it would interest you the most? I am genuinely interested. Therefore, please feel free to contact me any time before the session with any questions or input as it is more than welcome within the concept of our Media Team. I would like these upcoming 3 days to be as much a learning experience for all of you as possible. Looking forward to meeting all of you, Much love, Ali Okumuşoğlu
EDITOR OF KYIV RS
Dear participants, On behalf of the Organising team, I would like to congratulate you on being a part of this conference. For many of you it will be the first EYP session, for others an important stage of your journey, therefore we do our best to provide you with the best conditions to ensure the highest quality of this experience. My journey with EYP started in quite a weird way. The first time I came here I fell in love with the main principles and ideas of this platform. However, I was too young to take part in any of its events. Two years later I was pushed to go to my first session by my teacher and I had no clue that the conference I applied to was organised by EYP. Moreover I wanted to quit EYP after my first session. Fortunately, I had a right person by my side who made me continue my journey. Since then my involvement in EYP has been growing. By telling you my story I want to highlight that EYPmay be the best thing happened to me regarding my professional and personal growth so far. EYP is a family! A big, diverse, and always loving and supporting family! Each experience is unique and opens an unlimited amount of opportunities. It is not only about debates and discussions but about sharing. Here we like to say that “Sharing is caring”. It has different meanings: you can share emotions, ideas, moments and take care not only about a person next to you but of the future of the whole society! The Organising Team will do everything to make your pre-, postand in-session experience as pleasant as possible. For this, there are a few steps that should be taken by you: -- Read all booklets carefully in order not to miss any important information. In the booklet you will find all the important information to get ready for this small but very exciting journey!!! -- If something is not clear, do not hesitate to contact organisers. We are more than happy to help you! -- Find something you like and focus on it! EYP provides you with dozens of opportunities and spheres to develop! -- Prepare and plan in advance. You don’t want to submit 3 forms, a committee introduction and a position paper research along with your university or school tasks in one evening.
HEAD ORGANISER OF KYIV RS -- Eat and sleep well because there is no reason for you to stress about basics things -- Stay positive — you always can benefit or learn something from every situation -- Get hyped before the session!!! It is so soon!!!! This session will not be what we give you but what you will take from it. Therefore, I would like to challenge you to get the most of yourself, be confident, be involved and enjoy this experience! Truly yours, Victoria Bilenko Head Organiser
