We provide free exchange of ideas and intense cultural interaction. Today, EYP-sessions are taking place in more than three dozen countries, and there are over one hundred events every year. However, it’s quite easy to get lost in this overwhelming jungle of EYP. That’s why we prepared for you a very unique guide that will help you to find your own way in EYP. The European Youth Parliament (EYP) was founded in 1987. The aim of international organisation is to encourage youth all over Europe to be active European citizens. The EYP experience encourages students, future citizens to acquire first hand information and knowledge of other peoples and their cultures, to appreciate their differences, and to co-operate with representatives of other cultures in reaching common goals. The European Youth Parliament extends beyond EU borders creating a forum in which young people can genuinely express their own opinions without political pressure or resorting to role play. Students are encouraged to explore current events and the democratic process, to think independently, and to take initiative. However, EYP is much more then politics. The international sessions are event where cultures meet and friendships across borders are formed.

EYP-Weekend
is a twoday event which aims to promote the organisation and trains youth to participate in bigger EYP-events such as the National Selection Conference. Despite itsrelatively brief format, the structure of a mini-session is similar to the structure of international EYP events and includes Teambuilding, Committee Work and the General Assembly. The main advantage of mini-sessions is

the possibility to organise them in many regions of the country. During the AllUkrainian Inter-Rail tour, mini-sessions occur simultaneously in many cities united into regional “chains (North, South,West, East, Centre etc.).
Regional
sessions
of the European Youth Parliament are held throughout the year in different parts of Europe. And, usually, gather nearly 70-100 participants (delegates, journalists and chairs) from different European countries. During 4-5 days delegates in international committees discuss political, economic, social and cultural issues that are on agenda of the respective committees in the European Parliament. The result of the session is a Resolution, which contains ideas and solutions, discussed in committees and approved at the General Assembly of the session.
National Sessions
in Ukraine occurs once a year and aims to select its best participants for the Ukrainian delegations, which will represent EYP Ukraine at International Sessions abroad. National Sessions are held in all 38 national committees of the EYP. National Selection Conference usually lasts 4-5 days, during which delegates work in committees discussing political, economic, social and cultural issues that are on agenda of the respective committees in the European Parliament. National Sessions usually gather 100-130 participants, together with international committee chairs, journalists and the Board of the session.
Types of the sessions International Forum
represents a type of Regional Session with a greater extent of international participation. Geographical diversity of the participating countries makes International Forum a platform for intercultural communication. In terms of programme and number of participants International Forums are similar to Regional Sessions, though some details may vary and depend on the particular event.
International Session

During 10 days delegates work in international committees to develop solutions on political, economic, social and cultural issues that are on agenda of the respective committees in the European Parliament. The result of the committee work is a Resolution, which contains ideas and solutions, discussed in committees and approved at the General Assembly of the session. Those resolutions, which are approved at the GA, are passed to the European Parliament as the European youth initiative. To participate at the International Session one has to take part at a National Session and be selected to represent the National Committee.

CJO: who are they? The participants at any session are devided in two parts: the officials and the delegates. The officials are the people, who have already gained experience in EYP Sessions as the delegates and are ready to share it with the newcomers. Before and during the session each of them are working to raise the quality of the session itself and their own one work. Delegates are generally newcomers, students aged between 15-22, who would like to get inroduced to and discuss the topics that are currently important in Europe. It goes without saying that the session is considered to be well-organised when the whole official team works in coordination.
The Chairs team. These people hold a considerable amount of
responsibilities towards their committees and guide them through the various stages of the session. Chairs play a key role in ensuring the academic progress of the session. Do you want to stay in the first-hand contact with the delegates? Apply as a chair to an EYP session!
The Journalists team. The media team of a session is one which
fortifies the memories associated with EYP session. They provide a lot of materials, including photos, videos, and written issues, all of which contribute to making the session an unforgettable experience. You can usually find this work published on the respective Media team’s Facebook page during and after the session. Being a journo requires a great deal of creativity and flexibility – it might not be everyone’s cup of tea.You can’t know without trying, though!
The Organising team. The organisers are responsible for
ensuring the smooth and stainless progress of the session. Organising an EYP event is a uniquely rewarding experience that offers some challenges, from easy tasks – to work with all the logical details, such as keeping the session on schedule, and being on hand to answer any questions. It requires many other skills such as long-time project management, PR, fundraising. Almost every senior alumnus of the EYP has contributed to the organisation of a few sessions in his or her past. Have you enjoyed EYP and want to share this opportunity with others? Then being an orga is exactly for you!

The most visible task is chairing debates in GA, but a great deal more goes on behind the scenes in supporting and accompanying the entire chairs’ team, especially with the training modules prior to the session. To apply as VP, one should have considerable chairing experience.
