LVIV DEVELOPMENT FORUM ‘19
SELECTION REPORT Selection Report for Editors and Vice-Presidents of Lviv Development Forum - International Forum of EYP Ukraine. The Selection Panel was comprised of Maciej Kryński (President of the Forum), Sofia Bilenko and Viktoria Bilenko (Head Organisers of the Forum) and has concluded the selection of one Editor and three Vice Presidents.
EDITORS Applications The panel received applications from 6 applicants (5 female, 1 male) in total, with applicants coming from the following countries: Ukraine (1), Austria (2), Poland (1), and Armenia (2). Two applications were joint ones. Consequently, the number of candidates was combined to 4. Deliberations During the selection process, every application was carefully reviewed. The panel thoroughly discussed all applications, taking into consideration the experience and personal motivation of the applicants, creativity of their vision for the session, and its alignment with the vision of the Selection Panel. The Panel also looked at the profiles of potential Editors, their previous media team experience as well as their insight into the responsibilities of the position they were applying for.
Two candidates lacked a sufficient understanding of EYP media team and insufficiently disclosed the vision for the session. Hence, the choice was reduced to two candidates. Two out of three applicants illustrated nearly the same level of experience (both general EYP experience and media team experience), high level of motivation, and explained their vision in detail. However, the Selection panel did not fully grasp one of the candidate’s visions. At the same time, the other vision demonstrated outstanding ideas which were truly inspiring and perfectly matched the session’s vision. Selected Editor After thorough discussions and careful analysis, the Selection Panel agreed upon inviting: Maciej Kuczyński (PL)
VICE-PRESIDENTS Applications The panel received applications from 5 applicants (4 female, 1 male) in total, with applicants coming from the following countries: Ukraine (1), Ireland (1), Portugal (1), Cyprus (1), and Latvia (1). One application was submitted late; however, the Selection Panel decided to consider it. Deliberations The panel was grateful to receive applications from motivated candidates who showed interest not only in the session but also in being part of the Chairs’ Team. The Panel also appreciates the applicants who invested a lot of effort into their applications, especially the ones who put a considerable amount of thought while answering the application’s prompts. The Panel guarantees that every application was thoroughly discussed and considered, taking into consideration the experience and personal motivation of the applicants, received evaluations, the profiles of potential Vice Presidents, their previous EYP experiences as well as their insight into the responsibilities of the position for which they applied. It also believes that the “blind discussion” helped with ensuring the transparency of the selection process. In addition to that, candidates’ strengths and weaknesses were weighed to ensure a balanced team of individuals who are ready to complement the team’s synergy and can contribute to the successful implementation of the vision for the session.
At the first stage of the selection process, the Selection panel decided to reject those applicants who have had a lack of previous experience (in the role of a Chairperson and/or a Vice-president). Keeping this criterium in mind, the number of candidates was reduced to 4 individuals. At the next stage, the Panel directly evaluated the answers to the questions. All of the applications were outstanding and professional, with a clear sense of awareness of one’s strengths and weaknesses in the role. Taking into account that all three applications were relatively equal, the decision was made based upon the feedback and evaluations from the former senior officials of the candidates. Selected Vice Presidents After thorough discussions and careful analysis, the Selection Panel decided to invite following individuals: Rose Cantillon (IE) Margarita Smouridou (CY) Laura Teixeira (PT) The Panel was thankful for the applications from motivated candidates who displayed interest in the session and being part of the Lviv Development Forum - International Forum of EYP Ukraine as well as presented their capacity to contribute to the session’s vision and ideas. The Panel strongly encourages all the applicants to use the next opportunities to become a part of the events of EYP Ukraine! The Panel guarantees that every application was discussed and considered thoroughly. Moreover, the Panel assures that the confirmation and the invitation process was monitored carefully and with complete confidentiality.
