SELECTION REPORT Selection Report for Editor, Head of Jury, Vice Presidents and Chairs of Chernihiv`18 — 12th NSC of European Youth Parliament Ukraine, 8-14 July 2018 The Selection Panel composed of Thanos Theofanakis (President of the Session), Tetiana Lavrichenko (Head Organiser of the Session) and Oleksandr Polishchuk (Project Coordinator of EYP Ukraine) convened on the 29th March 2018 to select the Editor, the Head of Jury, three Vice presidents and twelve Chairpersons of the 12thNSC of EYP Ukraine.
Editor Applications
The panel received applications from 9 applicants (6 male, 3 female) in total, with applicants coming from the following countries: Ukraine (2), Armenia (1), Greece (1), Russia (1), Slovenia (1), Switzerland (1) and Turkey (2). Two applications were the joint ones. Consequently, the number of candidates was combined to 7.
Deliberations During the selection process, every application was reviewed carefully. The panel discussed applications thoroughly, taking into consideration: ●
the applicants` perception of EYP and its values,
●
the applicants` vision for the Session as well for the media team and its accordance
with the vision of the Selection panel, ●
the applicants` perception of the responsibility of Editor as a part of the leadership of
the Session, ●
the attitude towards other officials and the Session in general,
●
the profiles of potential applicants, especially their previous media experience and
availability before and during the Session. During the discussion, the Selection Panel has agreed on two shortlisted applications. Both applications suggested very original and unique ideas for the Session, clear vision of the responsibilities of the Editor, a responsible and positive attitude towards the Session and its participants in general as well as readiness to contribute to the Session as much time as may be needed. The choice between these two applications has been really tough. However, one of the applicants has proved to be more experienced both inside and outside EYP. Moreover, the Selection panel has really appreciated the idea of introducing Cinemagraph to the Session`s participants. Selected Editor After thorough discussions and careful analysis, the Selection Panel has agreed to approve the application of Nareg Soussani (AM).
Head of Jury Applications
The panel received applications from 2 applicants (2 male) in total, with applicants coming from Finland (1) and Poland (1).
Deliberations During the selection process, both applications were reviewed carefully. The panel discussed applications thoroughly, taking into consideration: ●
the applicants` perception of EYP and its values,
●
the applicants` vision for the Session as well for the Jury team and its accordance with
the vision of the Selection panel, ●
the applicants` vision for the delegates selection,
●
the applicants` perception of the responsibility of Head of Jury as a part of the
leadership of the Session, ●
the attitude towards other officials and the Session in general,
●
the profiles of potential applicants, especially their previous EYP experience and
availability before and during the Session. During the discussion, the Selection Panel has agreed that both applicants possess all necessary qualities for a position of Head of Jury. Both applications illustrated a clear understanding of EYP, a solid vision of the Head of Jury as a part of the Session`s leadership, a deep insight into the selection nuances of the delegates, a positive attitude toward other participants of the Session and an incredible desire to contribute to the development of EYP Ukraine.
Taking into consideration the quality of both applications, the Selection Panel made its decision based on the Senior Officials` feedbacks on the respective applicants. Selected Head of Jury After thorough discussions and careful analysis, the Selection Panel has agreed to approve the application of Maciej Krynski (PL).
Vice-Presidents Applications
The panel received applications from 8 applicants (4 female, 4 male) in total, with applicants coming from the following countries: Ukraine (1), Armenia (1), Azerbaijan (1), Belgium (1), Denmark (1), France (1), Portugal (1) and the Netherlands (1).
Deliberations During the selection process, every application was reviewed carefully. The panel discussed all applications thoroughly, taking into consideration: ●
the applicants` perception of EYP and its values,
●
the profiles of potential Vice Presidents, their previous EYP experience as well as their
insight into the responsibilities of the position they were applying for, ●
the applicants` vision of collaboration within the Board of the Session as well with
chairpersons, ●
the applicants` attitude towards other participants of the Session,
●
the applicants` availability before and during the Session.
At the first stage of the selection process, the Selection panel decided to reject those applicants who did not have a clear vision for responsibilities of Vice President as well as relevant experience for this position. According to these criteria, the number of candidates was reduced to 5 individuals. At the next stage, during the discussion, the Panel outlined 3 applications that were the most outstanding and professional, with a clear vision of their responsibilities, collaboration within the Board of the Session and with chairpersons, and with a positive attitude towards other Participants of the Session. Therefore, the Selection Panel unanimously agreed to approve these applications. Selected Vice-presidents After thorough discussions and careful analysis, the Selection Panel agreed to approve the applications of Viktoriia Bilenko (UA), Emilie Lutz ( FR) and Davit Manukyan (AM).
Chairperson Applications
The panel received applications from 35 applicants (22 female, 13 male) in total, with applicants coming from the following countries: Ukraine (4), Armenia (1), Azerbaijan (1), Belarus (2), Bosnia and Herzegovina (1), Croatia (1), Estonia (1), Finland (3), France (2), Georgia (1), Greece (1), Ireland (1), Lithuania (1), Norway (1), Poland (2), Russia (1), Slovenia (2), Switzerland (2), the Netherlands (1) and Turkey (5). Deliberations During the selection process, every application was reviewed carefully. The panel discussed all applications thoroughly, taking into consideration: ●
the applicants` perception of EYP and its values,
●
the profiles of potential Chairpersons, their previous EYP experience as well as their
insight into the responsibilities of the position they were applying for, ●
the applicants` vision of collaboration within the Board of the Session as well with
chairpersons, ●
the applicants` attitude towards other participants of the Session,
●
the applicants` availability before and during the Session.
At the very first stage of the selection the Selection Panel paid attention to the general impression of the applications, the applicants` profiles, EYP experience and vision of the position of the chair in relation to the delegates. At this stage, the Selection Panel decided to reject 15 applications. At the next stage, the Panel was considering the applicants` vision for the chairs team as a part the officials team, their availability for the pre-session preparation as well as their creativity. At this stage, the selection panel decided to reject 7 more applicants. As during Chernihiv`18 there will be co-chairing, the selection Panel had to choose 12 successful applicants of 13 remaining applications. Taking into consideration that one of these candidates applied after the deadline, it was decided to give preference to the person who applied in time. Thus the Selection Panel concluded upon the selection of 12 chairpersons for Chernihiv`18. Selected Chairpersons After thorough discussions and careful analysis, the Selection Panel agreed to approve the following applicants: Alenka Gosarič (Sl), Amelia Navarre (AT), Anastasia Khairova (HR), Darius Schlaeppi (CH), David Fox (IE), Ece Çakır (TR), Kajetan Rachwał (PL), Mak Sofić (BA), Maria Skorokhod (BY), Mayia Fokina (BY), Nataliia Drozd ( UA), Rozenn Révois (FR).
The panel was grateful to receive applications from motivated candidates who showed interest in the session and being part of the Chernihiv`18 — 12th National Selection Conference of EYP Ukraine. Furthermore, the panel appreciates those applicants who have put a lot of effort in writing their applications and who presented their capacity to contribute to the session’s vision and ideas in their applications. The panel strongly encourages all the applicants to use the next opportunities to become a part of the events of EYP Ukraine! The panel guarantees that every application was discussed and considered thoroughly. What is more, the Selection Panel offered feedback for all applicants.
