SELECTION REPORT Selection Report for Editors and Vice Presidents of Kharkiv'17 — 11th NSC of EYP Ukraine, 10-15 July 2017 The Selection Panel composed by Maciej Krynski (President of the Session), Tetiana Lavrichenko (Project Coordinator of EYP Ukraine), Valeriia Nikitenko and Oleksandr Polishchuk (Head Organisers of the Session)​ ​has concluded the selection of two Editors and two Vice Presidents.

Editors Applications

The panel received applications from 5 applicants (3 female, 2 male) in total, with applicants coming from the following countries: Ukraine (2), Austria (3). Four applications were the joint ones. Consequently, the number of candidates was combined to 3. Deliberations During the selection process, every application was reviewed carefully. The panel discussed all applications thoroughly, taking into consideration the experience and personal motivation of the applicants, English language skills, creativity of their vision for the session and its accordance with the vision of the Selection panel, the profiles of potential Editors, previous media team experience as well as their insight into the responsibilities of the position they were applying for. As far as one of the candidates had a lack of sufficient EYP media team experience, not excellent English language skills and insufficiently disclosed the vision for the session, the choice was reduced to two candidates. These 2 applications illustrated the equal excellent level of English language skills, nearly the same experience ​ (both general EYP experience and media team experience), ​ high level of motivation and explained their vision in detail. However, the Selection panel have not understood fully one of the candidate’s visions. While the other vision demonstrated the outstanding ideas, truly inspiring and perfectly matching the session's vision. Moreover, this concept was introduced in a original way - a ​ 360-degree video.


Selected Editors After thorough discussions and careful analysis, Head Organisers agreed to approve the application of ​Jannis Betschki (AT) and Maria Fedoruk (AT)​ .

Vice-Presidents Applications

The panel received applications from 9 applicants (5 female, 4 male) in total, with applicants coming from the following countries: Ukraine (2), Azerbaijan (2), Switzerland (1), Portugal (1), Romania (1), Armenia (1), Poland (1). Deliberations During the selection process, every application was reviewed carefully. The panel discussed all applications thoroughly, taking into consideration the experience and personal motivation of the applicants, English language skills, their areas of expertise with regards to training, the profiles of potential Vice Presidents, their previous EYP experience as well as their insight into the responsibilities of the position they were applying for. In addition, candidates’ strengths and weaknesses were weighed in order to ensure a balanced team of individuals who are ready to complement the team’s synergy and can contribute to the successful implementation of the vision for the session. At the first stage of the selection process, the Selection panel decided to reject those applicants who have not demonstrated excellent English language skills and had a lack of previous experience ​ (in the role of a Chairperson and/or a Vice-president)​ . According to these criteria, the number of candidates was reduced to 5 individuals. At the next stage, the Panel assessed directly the answers for the question. 3 applications were the most outstanding and professional, with a clear sense of awareness of one’s own strengths and weaknesses in the role. Taking into account that all of three applications were relatively equal, the decision was made judging by the feedback from the previous senior officials of the candidates.


Selected Vice-presidents After thorough discussions and careful analysis, Head Organisers agreed to approve the applications of ​Klara Birchley (PL) and Marsel Szopinski (CH)​ . The panel was grateful to receive applications from motivated candidates who showed interest in the session and being part of the Kharkiv ‘17 — 11th National Selection Conference of EYP Ukraine. Furthermore, the panel appreciates those applicants who have put a lot of effort in writing their applications and who presented their capacity to contribute to the session’s vision and ideas in their applications. The panel strongly encourages all the applicants to use the next opportunities to become a part of the events of EYP Ukraine! The panel guarantees that every application was discussed and considered thoroughly. Moreover, the panel assures that the confirmation and the invitation process was monitored carefully and with complete confidentiality.
