A NOTE FROM THE GENERAL MANAGER CONTINUED
A heartfelt thank you also to those homeowners who so selflessly gave of themselves to make PG what it is. I am not going to mention them by name because there are too many, but you know who you are! I have served six different Chairs during my tenure, and I have had the privilege to learn from the best there is. Thank you so much to all the boards who have supported me during my time at Prince’s Grant. I will be forever grateful to you all. Lastly, I wish to thank all the Prince’s Grant residents for making this estate what it is - without you there will be nothing. Thank you for entrusting me with your beautiful place for the time you did! So, not goodbye but see you again. Kind regards

textures and shapes. You can also create a table centrepiece in a similar manner. Whenever I’m creating floral decor in my home, I like to look at what’s around me first. Most of our gardens have a colourful selection of succulents, which will last for weeks. Here are some pictures of local, readily available succulents and aloes that would work well for thefestive season. Now for some tree ideas! Each year, I like to create a tree that I can plant after Christmas. On Prince’s Grant, this means going indigenous all the way!

SUMMER FESTIVE GARDENS CONTINUED
A wild olive is a wonderful example of an indigenous Christmas tree. Pop it on your sunny patio during the year and then bring it indoors for Christmas. Our magnificent yellowwood trees also do well as pot plants and make fabulous Christmas trees. Remember, it will do best outdoors for the year and only move it indoors for Christmas. Here are some fun ideas to get you all into the Christmas festivities, SA style! Don’t forget all your garden chores while creating Christmas decor: 1. Keep on top of your garden weeding! I cannot stress this enough. 2. I am sure you are all tired of hearing me
say this… MULCH, MULCH, MULCH! This not only creates a wonderful soil and plant garden ecology, but it also helps keep weeds at bay. 3. Fertilise lawns during the lovely rains. May the festive season bring you and your loved ones happiness and green fingers!

FINANCIAL ANALYSIS SNAPSHOT Month Ending September 2023
• There are outstanding receivables of R148 000 after provisions at the end of September. Most of the outstanding balances have been recovered after the reporting period. • Cash and equivalents totalled R10,9 million. The cash levels have reduced from the previous year-end closing balance due to the payment of certain outstanding payables as reported, as well as Capex investments during the financial year. Cash reserves are expected to be replenished during the December trading month. • Revenue was slightly lower than budget, due to the less-thanbudgeted levy stabilisation fund income as well as reduced water collections. Food and beverage sales outperformed the budget, although the margin ratio is less than budgeted. This is mostly attributable to food cost inflation and a bigger than

anticipated uptake of the discount provided to residents. The golf sales budget was increased rather aggressively from the prior year and, unfortunately, sales are slightly under budget. ATG is however making strong inroads into wider golfing markets. • General overhead was lower than budget due to a better-thanexpected spend on generator fuel. This is due to management interventions to ensure more effective use of fuel during load shedding and solar and backup systems installed at the sales office, pool and beach bar, as well as less-than-anticipated load shedding. • Staffing costs were slightly higher than budget due to additional staffing requirements to handle increased food and beverage sales. The Year to Date September 2023 Financial Summary can be found HERE
