Celebrate Chinese New Year LOCATED ON THE 50TH FLOOR AT FOUR SEASONS HOTEL BAHRAIN BAY, RE/ASIAN CUISINE BY WOLFGANG PUCK WILL RING IN THE YEAR OF THE DOG WITH A ONE-NIGHT-ONLY DINING EXPERIENCE WHICH INCLUDES AN ARRAY OF FESTIVE DISHES HONOURING THE SPECIAL CHINESE CELEBRATION.

The Exquisite Night Market in Celebration of the Year of the Dog re/Asian Cuisine’s Night Market will be enhanced with live cooking stations creating an authentic "live market" atmosphere in the restaurant elevated on the 50th floor. Executive Chef Brian Becher has created a one-of-a-kind menu that begins with the appetite-whetting chicken and wagyu beef soup dumplings, followed by roasted whole duckling served with bao buns. The forever favourite lo mai yurn, sticky rice with local lamb and tangerine puree, will perfectly prepare palates for “The Five Blessings” representing the five blessings of the New Year - longevity, riches, peace, wisdom and virtue - including Szechuan chili lamb dumplings, venison buuz, king crab crystal chive dumplings, beef and prawn chiu chow and roasted root vegetable dumplings. The several live-action stations will also showcase delicacies such as the aromatic roasted duckling; Chinese New Year dumplings; flat chive rabbit sausage; and longevity noodles among other festive dishes. To put a sweet ending to the Chinese Night Market event, Pastry Chef Pierre Chambon prepared a tempting Chinese rolled ice cream in green tea, chocolate and litchi flavours along with 8

his sweet fruit dumplings filled with pear, tangerine and toasted sesame. The entire evening on February 16 is priced at BD42 net per person including beverages. Served from 7pm to 11pm. The Chinese New Year Tasting Menus From February 17 to February 28, the restaurant will offer special five or seven-course Chinese New Year tasting menus in lieu of regular tasting menus that include a generous dim sum plate with chiu chow, dan dan and XO shrimp dumplings, wagyu beef pot stickers, Hong Kong style black bass served with shitake mushrooms, filet of beef Sichuan au poivre with wok fried green beans on the side, and a mouth-watering dessert duo to mention a few of the carefully-crafted festive menus. HELLO, SRI LANKA Bursting through the cloud cover above the teardrop-shaped island of Sri Lanka we’re greeted with a landscape of verdant green, where tangled jungle hugs up against long stretches of untouched coastline bashed by the incessant momentum of ocean waves. We touch down in Colombo during the worst cyclone to hit the country for many years, yet this tropical downpour marks a refreshing change from the desert climate of the UAE we’ve become accustomed too. It’s a more personalised service style than we’re used too but one that’s always paired with a friendly smile and the assurance that nothing’s too much trouble. Soaking up the tranquillity of the mountain air and a backto-nature approach, Tea Trails is more than just a boutique resort. Each of the five bungalows can be found scattered around the waters edge, but many kilometres apart, providing the opportunity for cultural immersion with a distinct luxury touch. Each bungalow has been flawlessly restored, with specially curated furniture that provides a throwback to the colonial summerhouses. Tientsin may be the most

grandiose due to spacious outside terraces, while Dunkeld presents a honeymooners delight with an outdoor jacuzzi, but the old-world feel of Norwood had us instantly charmed. Surrounded by tranquil gardens and the maze of tea plantations rising above, our stay at Norwood Bungalow offered an all-inclusive experience with a difference. A four-poster bed and free-standing bath tub take centre stage across the six bedrooms, all of which share communal living and dining areas and a large outdoor pool flanked by bamboo. Taking to the tea trails themselves is an enchanting experience as dirt paths meander through the tea plants seemingly unsure of the final destination. This is all part of the fun as we encounter school children in perfectly pressed uniforms and tea pluckers in bright coloured saris. Lost in the encroaching cloud cover amongst crumbling churchyards and nothing but the calls of nature, it’s a soul awakening experience and one that’s further enhanced by the property’s lack of television. Instead, we seek solace in fireside tales and the crackle of vinyl on an antique gramophone. With two per cent of Sri Lanka’s landmass covered in tea plants, we learn more about the process during an early morning visit to the Dunkeld Tea Factory, owned and operated by Dilmah who pioneered the concept of single origin tea in 1988 before branching out into the world of hospitality with Resplendent Ceylon. fact magazine

Offering the luxury hotel experience with a humanitarian objective, 10 per cent of the company’s profits go into the MJF Foundation, a support centre for underprivileged children in Colombo. Tea is understandably the inspiration behind the tea trails experience with a tea-inspired dinner menu designed by Australian celebrity chef Peter Kuruvita. Think vanilla tea mushroom soup, Moroccan mint tea encrusted lamb and tea-centric cocktails (don’t miss the Dilmah Dream). It doesn’t stop there though, with bath products containing tea sitting beside tea-infused massage oils (massages are undertaken within the comfort of the rooms by mobile therapists). Our stay in Tea Trails also introduces us to the novel concept of ‘bed tea’ with cups of freshly brewed tea brought to the room as part of the morning wake-up call. After two days, we leave the mesmerising lake on a long and picturesque journey to our next stop…

WILD COAST TENTED LODGE Dark granite boulders permeate through the vibrant green tea plantations as we follow the mountainous paths carved out by cascading waterfalls. We skirt along escarpments to our next destination, the Wild Coast Tented Lodge on Sri Lanka’s South Eastern Coast, a five-hour journey by road traversing mountains and floodwaters as we journey to the coast like some long forgotten tributary. Our journey is broken by a brief stop at the Udawalawe Elephant Transit Home supported by the MJF and Born Free Foundation and an opportunity to watch the feeding of orphaned elephants. The Wild Coast Tented Lodge situated on the fringes of Yala National Park feels remote. An arid landscape with the odd flourish of green vegetation. Wiry trees with twisted bows provide shelter for roaming jackals, while crocodiles peer ferociously beneath floodwaters. Beaten by waves and lashed by the wind, the coastline is as rugged and wild as the name would suggest. On an isolated stretch of sand and accessed via a 2km track of red earth lies Resplendent Ceylon’s latest venture into the hospitality sector, the Wild Coast Tented Lodge, a haven in the wilderness. The immediate appeal of the domed architecture fashioned from bamboo components and mirroring the rocky outcrops of the landscape, is swiftly revoked by warning signs alerting us to the dangers of roaming leopards and the instruction not to venture outside after nightfall (unless accompanied by a member of hotel staff). The landscape, architecture and interiors has been designed and built by the team at Nomadic Resorts, and it surely is a feat of the ambitious. After seeing the rooms, or more accurately, the cocoons - it’s unlikely that you’d want to leave this gorgeous space in the day, let alone at night; they’re the epitome of luxury. The resort is made up of 28 cocoon-shaped rooms clustered in small groups around watering holes to resemble the pattern of a leopard paw if viewed from above. fact magazine

Nomadic Resorts have used natural materials which integrate seamlessly into the environment with bamboo and shingle imported from Thailand and the outer membrane of the cocoons brought in from France. If feels as though no expense has been spared in bringing a unique sense of luxury into the wild. The rooms represent safari chic and feature wooden chests, thick carpets, copper pipe work, heavy drapes, and a regal, copper bath tub that gives us all the instagram-worthy goals. Each cocoon is slightly raised off the ground like a mini treehouse and large windows are positioned to take advantage of the landscape and passing wildlife. The bark of a samba deer in the middle of the night signals leopards may be close by and the sound of creatures scuttling beneath our tented paradise brings some unease to this dubious city-dweller – but it’s a once-in-a-lifetime experience and I’m ALL in! Breakfast brings stories of elephants roaming into the restaurant late at night and with the current making it too dangerous to enter the sea, a brisk swim in the salt-water pool enlivens our senses for the trip into Yala. Yala National Park is home to the world’s highest concentration of leopards per square meter and the worn track beats our bodies into numb awareness but it’s all worth it for the briefest glimpse of a leopard perched high on a protruding rock amongst crumbling stupas, like a forgotten king surveying his lands. I take my picture, and we’re on our way.

f you told me that I’d be waking up at 7am for morning yoga overlooking breathtaking canyon views, eating some of the freshest Italian food, and zip lining after climbing 200 metres across the cliff’s edge, I would never have believed that all of this would be possible right here in the Gulf, let alone 2000 metres above sea level. Enter Anantara Al Jabal Al Akhdar, a tranquil, elegant resort where lush local surroundings blend seamlessly with elegant accommodation and world-class facilities. You can literally coup up in your own private villa with a temperaturecontrolled pool or wake up to the most magnificent views in one of the resort’s huge cliffside rooms – the choice is yours. After a comfortable two-hour transfer from the airport in one of Anantara’s very own 4x4 drives (only 4x4 vehicles are allowed up the mountain) which was decked out with soft drinks, snacks, cushions and even WiFi – handy for posting the mesmerising window views on social media, right in the moment – we arrive at the resort to a warm welcome, literally, as a hot towel and tea are presented to us at check-in. Staff are efficient and friendly and we’re whisked off by buggy to our home for the next few days – an out-of-this-world One Bedroom Garden Pool Villa.

VILLA LIFE Now, this is no ordinary villa. Anantara has gone above and beyond with the 178-square meter space. You’ll get a stunning private garden that offers a natural sanctuary for romance, a great-sized heated plunge pool with sun loungers to top up the tan and a lavish outdoor dining area where an afternoon cuppa will be just the fix you need to relax. Inside, you’ll get nothing short of pure indulgence; a majlis-style living room with an oversized cushy couch and chairs facing a large interactive LED TV, media hub and Bluetooth sound system – this is where you can perch with a good book or board games which are provided in the room. The mini-bar is another standout of this sprawling villa – it’s one of the biggest and most variety-filled that we’ve ever seen. Aside from the usual Nespresso coffee machine and tea-making facilities, we’re talking full glassware selection, some of the yummiest snacks including oreo cookies, and even a good choice of soft beverages plus alcoholic options too – I mean, do you even need to leave your room? We’re not done yet though as more pleasant surprises await. The bedroom is decked out with a MASSIVE king size bed – yes, it’s possible to roll over many times (we tried!) – another TV on top of an ornate wooden cabinet (which we would love to have in our own home) – and lots of space to walk around without feeling like you’re in anyone else’s way. 52

One of our absolute favourite parts of this villa has to be the walk-in dressing room which has ample storage to easily fit four large suitcases and many bags – your only worry has to be about getting it through the airport! The luxury bathroom with rain shower and separate bathtub is as impressive as the outdoors. Bringing in elements of its natural surroundings, the tub is one of the largest we’ve ever bathed in and the lovely Elemis amenities made taking a hot shower or soak after a day of activities and exploring, something we totally cherished! Most of all, it seems that Anantara has thought of your every need because you also get your very own Villa Host to help organise special dinners, intimate evenings and more – staying in this accommodation was effortless and the attention to detail in interiors and services is what makes this villa the ideal sanctuary for couples, friends and families alike.

THE HEIGHT OF DINING You wouldn’t be incorrect to think that being so high up and away from constant suppliers means that the food could be limited here – in fact, we were expecting food to take a back seat to the location. We were SO wrong. Some of the best cuisines we’ve tasted outside of other Gulf countries was at Anantara Al Jabal Al Akhdar. In the allday-dining restaurant, Al Maisan, breakfast is a feast of fresh fruits, fluffy pastries, winter warmers like porridge, pancakes and other hot options, plus local Arabic fare and even made-to-order eggs and super healthy juices. We would highly recommend the energising ABC juice or a creamy soy latte for a morning boost. The croissants and pain au chocolat were like biting into a cloud, whilst the fresh coconuts and full fry up were true treats to start the day fuelled up. For lunch, head to Bella Vista where you can tuck into the tastiest gnocchi, home-style pizza, seafood mixed grill and lip-licking risotto. With so much natural light flooding the venue which is located at the resort’s famous Diana’s Point, don’t forget to have a fully-charged phone or camera to capture all those drool-worthy shots for instagram. Al Maisan also serves up excellent buffet-style dinners with everything from Continental, South-East Asian, Indian and Arabic specialties. We enjoyed the paneer curry, the super crisp salads, made-to-order pastas and the incredible sticky toffee pudding dessert to name but a few of the taste-bud-satisfying dishes. If you prefer to snack, Al Baha, translating as ‘Crossroads’ in Arabic, is an amazing spot to unwind and appreciate resort life. The eatery does an impressive duck hoisin wrap and flourless chocolate cake with a range of hot and cold beverages (make sure you try the famed rose tea) – and in the evenings you can gather around the picture-perfect open fireplace in the courtyard for stargazing with your choice of liquid concoction in hand.

ADVENTURE HEAVEN If there’s one reason why you should make Anantara Al Jabal Al Akhdar your next weekend escape, it’s not just the mind-blowing scenery or even the serenity of peace and quiet (though you’ll have plenty of time for that too), it’s the unimaginably, adrenalin-fuelled resort activities. Now, you don’t need to be a fitness fiend to get involved – all you need is appropriate clothes, a will to explore and, of course, a good guide. To start off lightly, we would highly recommend the Three Village Walk after breakfast where you’ll pass the rich foliage of Jabal Al Akhdar whilst weaving in and out of charming streets, past

the historical irrigation system and traditional houses of the most friendly and welcoming Omani people. Our Mountain Guru guide was Thilina who brought the treasured local stories of days gone by to life. From March end to mid-May, the cliffs around Ash Sharayjah village are adorned in Damask roses in full bloom, used to produce Omani rose water. As you traipse past abandoned houses and come across the most quaint, character-filled doors, fronting the few homes that are still occupied, the contrast between old rural lifestyle and the new world will leave you yearning for a more simple way of living (sans smartphone and social media – but, alas, if you don’t put it on Snapchat, did it even happen?). The areas mild climate is ideal for explorers, whilst the mountainous terrain provides diverse climbing, hiking and biking journeys. Probably the most thrilling of them all is the Ultimate Jabal Activity Wall. We were NOT ready for this, but LOVED every second. You’ll snake nearly 200 metres across the cliff edge across one of the highest climbing routes in the Middle East, on the way to Oman’s first mountain zip line. Safety is number one for this activity. The Via Ferrata steel cable allows intrepid climbers to use their hands and strategically placed metal steps to traverse the vertical rock face, before navigating jagged rock formations, ladders and vertical stairs. We have to give a HUGE shout out to the man of the moment, our cool, calm and collected guide Thilina. Hailing from Sri Lanka, Thilina is an absolute pro. His chilled-out yet motivational approach as well as patience and guidance throughout the climb, is the main reason why we were able to complete the exhilarating hour-long climb and two zip lines with confidence. Views of the mountain and vast canyon are simply magic when doing this activity and flying through the air at the end is the icing on the cake for thrill-seekers and novices alike.

When you’ve had your fix of outdoor fun for the day, or worked out at the gym, let your muscles soothe at the incredible Anantara Spa with its five luxurious spa treatment rooms, including two couple’s suites, a hair and nail beauty salon at The Jasmine Lounge and separate male and female thermal suites. Lay down for an hour-long signature massage where you can choose an oil to suit your mood and a professional therapist will tailor a massage for your exact needs – from pressure to technique and areas of concern – our therapist knew exactly where the tight knots were and worked so flawlessly that we fell into a deep slumber within minutes of lying face-down on the comfy treatment bed. Arabian cleansing rituals will help restore your flow and after some hot ginger tea, you’ll be left feeling refreshed and ready to tackle whatever comes next. The club was launched under the patronage of Shaikh Isa bin Ali AlKhalifa who visited BIC for the event and was accompanied by Hasan Al Nagoor, a shareholder in Chelsea FC. The launch of the club was initiated by Abdulrahman Almoayed, a Chelsea fan and member volunteer. As a part of the launch the Club organised a screening of the Chelsea versus Brighton match at BIC.

Mercedes Benz can’t seem to put a foot wrong as they produce first class roadsters fit to compete with any luxury vehicle in the segment.

e at FACT love Mercedes Benz. I mean, what’s not to love? Every time we receive the privilege of test driving one of their vehicles, we are always hugely impressed by both the craftsmanship and performance. When Al Haddad Motors offered us the keys to the 2017 Mercedes Benz SLC 200, we couldn’t get to the dealership quickly enough. Previously badged as the SLK, the renamed SLC is a luxurious two-seat roadster boasting both high performance and luxurious style. The master craftsmen at Mercedes have been developing and upgrading this sports car since the original offering in 1996. Sleeker, faster and with far more features to enhance the driving experience, it seems these automobile giants have forged this creation to near perfection. Car enthusiast will be familiar with the SLC, however it takes an up close inspection to truly appreciate the improvements made on this vehicle. Always sleek yet bold in appearance, this Mercedes looks the way you want your car to look. Its mere presence screams success and power and makes one itch to get behind the leather steering wheel. The front end has been redesigned to further improve aerodynamics as well as to provide an even sportier presence than its predecessors. The new diamond radiator grille sits eloquently at the extreme front of the long bonnet, announcing the work of art following closely behind. The sides of the vehicle, complete with 18” AMG 5-spoke light-alloy wheels, are crafted with smooth lines that effortlessly connect the front end to the rear. A well designed backend is finished off by the new chrome wing as well as the dual

chrome exhaust system. Slipping inside the vehicle, the pure comfort on offer made us feel instantly at ease. The seats are firm yet comfortable. Although one sits close to the ground, the position of the driver’s seat is perfectly situated to take ownership of the driving experience. All the materials and trimmings used are up to the usual high standards set by Mercedes and no space has been wasted in the cabin area. There is storage space on offer in the form of a decently sized glove box, door bins, a centre storage bin and cup holders. Despite all of these positive attributes, one cannot help but feel the interior could be upgraded even further to reach its full potential. The infotainment system seems a little dated by Mercedes standards, however it is easy to navigate and offers the desired operational support. A fantastic optional feature of the SLC is the panoramic vario-roof which offers a clear overhead view. It also allows a lot of natural light into the vehicle. Another available option is the Magic Sky Control that changes the glass from tinted, to transparent with just the touch of a button.

At FACT we cannot resist a good brunch, so, when Links at the Royal Golf Club announced the launch of their Thursday Night Brunch, well, lets just say it didn’t take much persuading to throw on our gladrags and have a goosey-gander. fact magazine

s true brunch devotees we are spoilt for choice in Bahrain, however, it’s usually reserved only for daytime hours on a Friday, whereas we’ve always secretly coveted a Thursday evening brunch in which you can enjoy an evening meal with your partner, under less obtrusive drinking hours and expectations. Links has got this notion executed perfectly with a selection of varied international dishes and unlimited artisanal drinks, suitable for even the pickiest of palates. Step inside the Royal Golf Club and make your way to the mezzanine floor to discover the finest in international cuisine at Links restaurant. There’s an outdoor terrace for you to unwind in, if you so wish, however, the floor- to-ceiling windows offer patrons spectacular views across the golf course. There’s also the lounge with its trendy wooden panelling making the perfect backdrop for welcoming your weekend in style. We were pleasantly surprised by the high turnout for the debut of the Thursday Night Brunch in Links restaurant. As we commandeered their brunch we were treated to a real buzzing atmosphere. The team didn’t crack under pressure either, and the staff merely continued to interact with guests without it jeopardising the quality of service or food - result! First up? A cosmo to start the weekend. It arrived quickly, and it was drank pretty sharpish (hey, it’d been a long week!) so we perused the menu whilst we ordered an additional selection of flavoured cocktails and hops. Their cocktails are made lovingly from the long bar and served up with flourish, as they’re all extraordinarily pretty! The server was kind, and knowledgeable of the menu (bonus points), and was quick to respond to our questions surrounding the menu - mainly about portion size. We were advised that we can select as much as we like from the menu and it would be served directly to our table (extra bonus points). This was well received on account of one of the team 86

wearing ridiculous heels and it also allowed for the evening to feel more refined without worrying about venturing across the room for your next course. We were there for the duration of the brunch and all our servers were incredibly accommodating without being bothersome. They continually topped up our drinks and attended to our beck-and-call seamlessly. We ordered the mezzeh buffet to start, a sampling of marinated vegetables, dips, garden leaves and bread. The spreads come with the most amazing, enormous pita bread, which is seasoned with oil, salt, and spices and served piping hot. It’s the best pita bread we’ve tried, perhaps ever. We live for seafood, therefore we also sampled the Baked

Oysters that were drizzled in garlic, accompanied with chorizo and finished in breadcrumbs - what an absolute masterpiece. The duck definitely didn’t disappoint either with its rich yet flavourful taste. The Roasted Tomato and Sweet Pepper Soup made its entrance in an industrialised mug, ideal for your inner millennial, and this was drank with a series of smacking lips ‘um-ing’ and ‘ah-ing’ in unison around the table. We ordered the Anwwwgus Beef Sliders, which were filled with red onion relish accompanied by pickled cucumber and mustard aioli. It was perfectly toasted and the meat was warm and juicy inside. The Royal Golf Club has inevitably upped the stakes in the culinary game, hosting their Thursday Night Brunch from 7pm to 11pm. Our evening finished with a delectable cheeseboard and clean plates. A Taste of China Having become somewhat of a foodie institution in Bahrain, China Garden restaurant at the 5-star Gulf Hotel Bahrain Convention & Spa, remains a firm foodie favourite with locals, expats and visitors alike. t’s nice to walk into a restaurant and see natives from that specific cuisine’s country, eating there. There’s a reassuring feeling that if it’s good for the home team, it's definitely good for us! At China Garden, we find a few Chinese businessmen savouring a lunch feast, and visibly enjoying it – this spurs us on even more to take a seat and tuck into the food. Bringing flavours of Mainland China straight to your table, China Garden is all about wholesome, delicious food. There’s no gimmicks, it’s just a beautiful space, decorated with ornaments and interiors that are reminiscent of an elegant and traditional Chinese palace of the days gone by. We particularly love the sitting Buddha and various other gold-covered creatures that no doubt represent the significant Chinese New Year association with different animals. The restaurant retains its modern, oriental style, and whilst you sink comfortably into the cushy wooden chairs, the culinary team will worth their magic, preparing a varied selection of food that is influenced by distinct Chinese regions creating Cantonese, Szechuan and Peking specialties. Signature dishes, including Chinese dim sum and Peking duck, are traditionally prepared by a team of renowned Chinese Chefs under leadership of Chef Ding to bring the authentic tastes straight out of China and into The Gulf Hotel Bahrain. We begin our epicurean expedition through the country with The Great Wall, starting at the appetisers as fresh Prawn Spring Rolls with a lush savoury dipping sauce come to the table. Excellent for sharing (though you might not want to after biting into one and knowing how good it tastes), these rolls are the most blissful balance of crispy on the outside and succulently chewy on the inside. Fabulous start! Next up is the Dumpling Soup – a fantastic winter warmer that is delicate and lights with cute chunky dumplings. The soup will not only alleviate you from any congested sinuses, it will soothe the inner you and satisfy your

taste buds all at the same time. Highly recommended for anyone who might be feeling a little under the weather during their visit to China Garden. You can’t come to a Chinese restaurant and not try the dim sum, right? And at China Garden, it’s a total must. Go for the juicy Prawn Dim Sum which transforms into pockets of gratifying belly-fillers once dipped in soya sauce – it’s traditional Chinese food done to perfection. The Chicken Pancakes with chilli sauce are a major hit at the table. Resembling a gyoza-style dish, they’re packed generously with the tastiest filling

and wrapped in a lovely thin pancake pastry. It was, however, the Orange Chicken that made all the tired faces at the table, jump for joy. Think literal bursts and pops of beautiful zesty orange flavour and the crisp texture of the batter-coated chicken – we were in culinary heaven. Loaded with various crispy veg, the textures of this dish were seriously giving us hashtag food goals. The Sweet and Sour Hammour followed and we enjoyed the presentation of this dish very much. It allowed for all of us to break off our favourite parts of the fish, dip it in a lip-licking sauce and voila! All gone! Crunchy on the outside and luscious inside, any seafood lover will appreciate this. It’s no wonder that China Garden has been awarded several accolades including Best Chinese Restaurant in Bahrain 2017 at the Citi FACT Dining Awards Bahrain. The team of expert chefs keep the menu exciting, fresh and full of magnificent flavours – all while staying true to their Chinese roots. The venue also aims to keep it innovative for Bahrain’s diners and will be bringing a Celebrity Chinese Chef, Jeff Tan Seng Han to celebrate the Chinese New Year (read all about it on p16). Recently I was invited to a family wedding by two of my clients and of course it was a fabulous affair with everyone in gorgeous gowns, eating great food, and enjoying a great atmosphere and music. And, of course, my clients were looking gorgeous. Now most of the guests hadn’t seen them since they’d had their children and were in awe of how they looked. They had questions flying at them left, right and centre with regards to how this change came about and how they could achieve the same results, and this is when they turned around and pointed at me. At our next session my clients told me that with all the enquires with regards to their weight loss and new bodies, people were saddened to hear that it was hard work and it took months and not a few weeks to their transformation. Unless you go under the knife the only way to get the results you want is to work for it. It’s time to stop believing in false headlines such as “Six Pack Abs in 2 weeks” or “How to get Toned Legs in 7 minutes”. There is just no replacement for putting the work in to get the results that you want. This means eating right, taking on enough water and getting enough rest. My clients had goals and gave themselves enough time to achieve them. So if you want that bikini body this is the time to start working for it. ✤

I love Valentine’s Day. Ok, I have to admit, I haven’t always loved it. As a gal rockin’ the single life I found it to be slightly sickening - all tacky teddies and flowers with no fragrance in staged social media snaps. But all that changed when I met a man who likes to splash his cash on the most romantic day of the year. And who am I to argue? So if you, like us, are planning on living large on Valentine’s Day this year, here are some ways you might want to spend your special eve. 1. Sundowners at the Blue Moon Lounge. This stunning space on the 50th floor of the Four Seasons boasts the best views in Bahrain. More importantly, their bartenders take mixology to a whole new level, making it the best place to kick your evening off. 2. Steak at The Meat Co. Cocktails completed, you now need to head over to Adliya to treat yourselves to a pair of succulent steaks. Be sure to book a table on the rooftop - and if the weather’s chilly, you’ll have another excuse to snuggle up to your loved one. 3. Ice-cream at Baskin Robbins. To finish up your evening, take a gentle stroll down shawarma alley and grab your good selves some BR cones topped with your favourite flavours. The richer and creamier the better. As Saint Valentine comes knocking at our doors yet again to remind us that romance isn’t dead, it becomes imperative to realise that love comes in all shapes and sizes. A holiday that is increasingly targeted at loved up couples and the idea of romance, it can be a somber occasion for those flying solo. Does this mean you turn a blind eye to all the heart-shaped chocolates and rosyhued decorations? Absolutely not! As much as Hollywood loves to portray V-Day as a sacred holiday that only couples can enjoy, it is so much more than that. Instead of flinching at the thought of being alone, make it a day of self-appreciation and selfish splurges. Treat yourself to a spa day, gather your group for a girl’s night out, spend some time with your folks, snuggle up with your pet or simply read that book you’ve been wanting to for so long. That being said, it doesn’t necessarily have to be all about you. Share the day of love with the important people in your life and appreciate those who care for you. Show some love to the people who make life a little bit easier and show them how thankful you are for their presence. It is important to understand that the day is not just for lovers, but for all kinds of love. Do something nice for yourself or those dear to you. After all, love is whatever you want it to be! ✤

Bahrain, although a small island, has been my second home for 10 years now, my wife and I love to go for sunset walks by Bahrain Fort, and my dining favourites are endless but breakfast in Lumee, lunch in Saffron and dinner in Haji near Bab al Bahrain would be my favourite local trail.

What are some of your personal and professional goals for 2018 in Bahrain? 2017 I had a bucket of resolutions, one thing I learned is that with the pace and movement of todayâ&#x20AC;&#x2122;s world, I would rather set shorter objectives and celebrate more achievements! Keeping up to date with all the latest marketing tools is a top priority; the digital world is evolving so quick that you need daily goals to keep up with it!
