Luxurious Hospitality at Mondrian Doha Designed in collaboration with famed international Dutch designer, Marcel Wanders, Mondrian Doha has 270 rooms boasting exceptional design and luxury along with eight innovative bars and restaurants and an exclusive and immense spa. Five-star status just got a little more stylish with the opening of the stunning Mondrian Doha. SBE, a leading privately-held global lifestyle company, brings the iconic Mondrian brand to Doha for its Middle East debut. Bringing the up-all-night intensity, energy and Sunset Strip vibe of the original Hollywood Mondrian right here to the West Bay Lagoon neighbourhood of Doha, guests will be opened up to a fantasy-like environment and a new world of endless possibilities. Designed by internationally famed Dutch designer, Marcel Wanders, along with South West Architecture, Mondrian Doha was created with a mission to evoke an environment of love, filled with passion, and to make guests’ most exciting dreams come true. The hotel will buzz with the instant gratification, the perfect provocative moments and confident cool that Mondrian is known for worldwide. A parallel universe of perpetual possibility, Mondrian Doha luxury hotel, is situated in the luxurious West Bay Lagoon, and at the gateway to Qatar’s next major city destination, Lusail City. Mondrian Doha will express the beauty of local Arabic culture with a modern twist; the essence of One Thousand and One Nights influencing the interior spaces, which is both detail-orientated and complex, creating a fantasy-like environment that is true to the signature Marcel Wanders design. Structurally, the building of Mondrian Doha is shaped like a falcon, with many references to the national bird of Qatar also found inside; from paintings and portraits to falcon headpieces and ornaments. Mondrian’s famous lobby scene, the soul of the hotel, recreates the see-and-be-seen vibe of the original Mondrian concept and will be the place to meet of all hours of day and night. Further majestic highlights at the hotel include the mesmerising stained glass dome skylight on the 27th floor, and a striking custom-designed four-level high spiral staircase to no-where; an awe-inspiring sculptural piece that gives the impression that the stairs extend to the sky and acts as a focal point of the atrium which leads guests up to one of the most beautiful viewing platforms of Doha’s skyline. Sam Nazarian, Founder & CEO of Mondrian, said: “We are delighted to open our first hotel in the Middle East in Doha, Qatar which is one of the most dynamic cities in the region. I know that Mondrian Doha will be an incredible destination for international and local travellers alike,” he added. “Mondrian Doha represents exactly this - you need never leave this luxurious destination hotel as we have all your desires catered to. That said, the city outside is remarkable - a thriving artistic centre, brimming with innovation and possibilities.” ✤ GO: Visit www.mondriandoha.com for more information. 8

From oil paint to watercolour, acrylic paint, pens, pencils and sketchbooks, they stock a full range of artist supplies that are suitable for all ages. As with all Cass Art stores, the interior was designed by leading design agency Pentagram. “When we were approached by Qatar Museums about opening a Cass Art at the Fire Station, we were deeply impressed by their vision to develop art and artists in their local community and beyond,” said Mark Cass, CEO and Founder of Cass Art. “Our ethos has always been to encourage creativity at every level, wherever it may be, and to inspire people to discover the power

of art. We look forward to helping local talent grow.” The Fire Station: Artist in Residence programme, which started in September 2015, sits at the heart of Doha’s thriving art community. The residency programme is open to local Qatari artists and residents of Qatar, and runs in nine-month cycles. During the nine-month residency, artists across all disciplines receive production support, mentorships and curatorial advice, enabling them to develop their artistic talent. At the end of the cycle, artists’ accomplishments are celebrated in an end of residency exhibition held at the Garage Gallery in the Fire Station, which showcases selected works from each of the artists. Visitors are able to view the artists’ work in a public gallery every June, as well as visit the cinema, restaurant and art store, all housed at the Fire Station. ✤ GO: Visit www.qm.org.qa/en for more information.

Bateel’s New Location

Sculpted Torus at Doha Festival City Doha Festival City is yet again enthralling its visitors with the installation it’s first art piece. Created by visionary artist and sculptor, David Harber, the bespoke ‘Sculpted Torus’, is now pride of place in the mall’s Centre Court. The impressive sculpture, four metres in diameter, will wow guests visiting the Mall when it opens on April 5. The piece is an adaptation of David Harber Ltd’s iconic Torus and is part of a series of five variations that will be installed at Doha Festival City. The unique Sculpted Torus is made from mirror-polished, marine grade stainless steel and will sit alongside a succession of smaller, two-metre Toruses – all of which will be slight variations of the original design. As with all David Harber sculptures, each of the bespoke Torus commissions for Doha Festival City will be designed and handcrafted in his Oxfordshire workshop, in England. By April 2017, all of the pieces will have made the journey from the British countryside to Qatar. The installation of the sculptures forms part of the finishing touches to the mall, as Doha Festival City prepares to open this month. With over 500 local and international brands and more than 100 places to dine and relax, there will be an unparralled choice of indoor and outdoor entertainment attractions unique to the country. ✤ GO: Visit www.festivalcitydoha.com for more information. 12

How can a n a r t i s t ta k e b a c k v i s u a l r e p r e s e n tat i o n s ? ” The current social climate is the main driving focus behind the attentiongrabbing work displayed in Anima Gallery’s newest exhibition; Paratopia. This body of work, by artist Charbel Samuel Aoun, is about a parallel perception of reality where the nature of the medium is changing due to a paratopia of natural laws resulting from the current social climate. In the reign of cement, covering every positive and negative space in the city, stones reach the moment of expression, polarity of their atoms line up in one direction, they are fleeing as a result of the magnetic repulsion from the social sensitivity. It’s a displacement/paratopia where natural laws of the city and that of the medium are no more the same. Social happenings, human sensitivity, people’s confrontations, all led to the departure of nature, into a paralife where they become free. External conflict and its repercussions is readily apparent while internal struggles with basic infrastructure exacerbate the situation. In contrast to the lack of public utilities, unchecked capitalist investment in highend development invades the cities. On top of the humanitarian and infrastructure work that needs to be done there is also an urgency to protect cultural heritage buildings, initiate more green spaces and create projects benefiting the whole population. As a visual artist, inundated with advertising and marketing campaigns for luxury goods, Aoun deeply feels the schizophrenia in the current crises. How can an artist take back visual representations? How can art generate conversation about present issues? Reinterpreting this feeling through materials, he darkly reimagines the present and future of the city with a few slivers of hope. While the concrete landscape spreads out further from the city, Aoun is surrounded by nature that is slowly being encroached on. The everyday materials around his studio add another layer to the story: dead pine needles of trees cut down, rocks from the local quarry where part of a mountain is shaved away, tar from street work, cement of new buildings and the wood that forms his “canvas” scavenged from construction sites. The rejection of store bought materials and paint produced in foreign countries, is implicit. “The medium is the message,” he says. There is visceral and sculptural nature of the work that is present even in the treatment that exudes emotion. The pine needles suffocated in cement have a broken nervous energy. fact magazine

LOCAL Arts

The thick tar is used like paint to depict urban landscapes with towering black buildings, rendered with a perfect perspective coming from his days as an architect. These monster buildings even go so far to trap nature, harnessing the environment. The dark landscapes have an occasional protagonist too, that’s disguised in the unlikely beige stone or brown earth. This stone, in reality, was extracted violently, from the interior of the mountain. Contrastingly, when it’s used in the work it introduces a natural and poetic dimension inside this world of cement, adding a movement and visual lightness to the pieces. It is displaced or trying to escape the urban landscapes.

LOCAL Arts The stones are used ironically enough as an ephemeral form, sometimes as a cloud, sometimes as hope that bubbles through a dark flume of smoke from trash fires or explosions. The brown earth of the mountain in the skyline also leads the viewer back to nature and away from foregrounded problems. The physical weight of the pieces allude the heavy nature of the message. Stones, in some cultures, have a history of life giving or medicinal properties, here it takes on a lightness that is a soul of the work or perhaps of humanity. ✤ GO: Paratopia is on display at Anima Gallery, 30 La Croisette, Porto Arabia, The Pearl – Qatar until June 6. JR – Répertoire Qatar Museums (QM) celebrates the work of French artist JR with a spectacular display of work on show at QM Gallery.

J

R is a French artist turned photographer who maintains anonymity. His work combines art and engaged actions through large-scale outdoor installations, films, photographs and videos, using the streetscape as his canvas and his inspiration, which he claims as the largest art gallery in the world. Since beginning his artistic career at the age of 17, JR has created monumental photographs that he pastes around the world, catching the attention of people who are not typical museum visitors. JR creates Pervasive Art that spreads uninvited on the buildings and slums around Paris, on the walls in the Middle East, on the broken bridges in Africa or the favelas in Brazil. He doesn’t explain his work, allowing the subjects, protagonists, spectators and passers-by to raise their own questions and interpret his work themselves. JR – Répertoire, which is made in collaboration with Galerie Perrotin, will feature some of the key series that have made the artist famous around the world, and the show will also include a video lounge where selected video works can be viewed. 60

“We hope that this exhibition will spark creativity amongst young Qatari artists and residents in Qatar, who will visit the show, interpret JR’s work in their own way...” Khalid Yousef Al Ibrahim, Chief Strategic Planning Officer at Qatar Museums, said: “We are extremely proud and excited to present the first show in the Middle East of internationally acclaimed artist JR. This exhibition brings to life our commitment at Qatar Museums to display works by world-class artists that inspire an indigenous culture of creativity and innovation. “We hope that this exhibition will spark creativity amongst young Qatari artists and residents in Qatar, who will visit the show, interpret JR’s work in their own way

and inspire enthusiasm and engagement in our community,” he added. JR’s best known works include Face 2 Face (2007), which saw the artist paste onto both sides of the separation wall and in several Palestinian and Israeli cities, with large portraits of ordinary citizens with the same occupation of both ethnicities and religions, forcing the viewer to question who each individual person was and whether a difference could be made. In 2008, he launched a powerful project titled Women Are Heroes, that showcased poignant and powerful portraits of physical and emotional survival amidst atrocity, documenting the dignity of women in conflict zones and violent environments. In another more recent project in 2016, the artist covered the streets of Rio with giant art installations representing athletes, each turning the city into their own personal playgrounds. Now, it’s your tune to get up close and personal with this incredible, globespanning work. ✤ GO: JR – Répertoire will be on display at QM Gallery Katara, Building 10 until May 31. Big Screen The Fate of the Furious What’s it about? A mysterious woman seduces Dominic Toretto and lures him back into the world of crime. Dom betrays those closest to him while they try to bring home the man who made them a family. The crew faces trials that test them like never before while they trot the globe to stop an anarchist from unleashing chaos on the world.

Director: F. Gary Gray cast: Vin Diesel, Dwayne Johnson, Jason Statham Why it’s worth watching? Get ready for a wild ride as the Fast and the Furious franchise returns with an explosive new installment. While the movie has all the makings of the ultimate Fast and Furious experience; big stars, cool cars, action-packed sequences, and great explosions, it also features unexpected twists and some fresh new faces. We see Dom (Vin Diesel), Letty (Michelle Rodriguez) and the crew leading a pretty peaceful life until a cyber terrorist named Cipher (Charlize Theron) lures Dom into a life of international crime. The fast family and federal agent Hobbs (Dwayne Johnson) crisscross the globe to convince Dom to become the good guy again while saving the world from Cipher’s vicious motives. The Fate of the Furious is the first in the series to hit the streets of New York City along with insane action set in Berlin, Russia and Cuba. Fans will also get to see a surprising cameo by Helen Miller - a breath of fresh air for the 15-year-old franchise. Expect explosive sequences, a crazy-good cast and lots of car crashes.

Highlights “The Fate of the Furious is the first in the series to hit the streets of New York City along with insane action set in Berlin, Russia and Cuba... Expect explosive sequences, a crazy-good cast ensemble and lots of car crashes.”

The Lost City of Z What’s it about: Based on a true story, Percy Fawcett journeys into the Amazon and stumbles upon previously unknown evidence of an advanced civilisation. He keeps returning to the jungle in order to prove his theory which ultimately leads to his mysterious disappearance.

– The Fate of the Furious

“James Gray truly cements his position as one of the most distinctive and laudable living filmmakers.” – The Lost City of Z

Director: James Gray cast: Charlie Hunnam, Robert Pattinson, Sienna Miller Why it’s worth watching? A tale of extreme courage and passion for the knowledge of the unknown, The Lost City of Z tells the story of an explorer driven to the verge of obsession. Starring Charlie Hunnam as Percy Fawcett, the film is a compelling true story of a British military-man-turned-adventurer. Fawcett discovers evidence of a lost civilisation in the “green desert” of Amazonia and becomes fixated on proving his case right. His theories are dismissed by scientific organisations but he continues on his quest, determined. Also starring Sienna Miller and Robert Pattinson, the film is an immediate classic and unlike anything we have ever seen before. James Gray truly cements his position as one of the most distinctive and laudable living filmmakers. It might not be for everyone but its delicate and methodical narration is definitely worth the trip to the cinema! fact magazine

Age of Anger By Pankaj Mishra

The Ride

By Nelly Furtado

From I’m like a bird to Maneater, Nelly Furtado’s music has always managed to move us, thanks to her non-traditional voice. Get ready to go ‘Whoa, Nelly’ all over again as her sixth studio album is LIT! While in the past she’s heavily collaborated with various artists including the likes of Timbaland, The Ride, surprisingly, features no collabos. The album follows a modern pop-alternative theme and definitely establishes a whole new niche. Islands of me is an offbeat synth-pop anthem while Cold hard truth is infused with punk and bounces along on a beat and is reminiscent of her iconic partnership with Timbaland. Pipe Dreams, a hazy, mellow song has a much more airier and lighter sound. The album solely focuses on Nelly’s own music and lyrics - which we LOVE. Fans looking for an extension of her previous chart pop odysseys might have to look elsewhere as her newest offering is a production of John Congleton with the tracks being a middle-ground between her Whoa, Nelly and radio-pop-centered days.

If all this talk of politics has got you all rattled and confused, Pankaj Mishra’s Age of Anger can help you understand process the situation better. Covering everything from ISIS to social media hostility, Mishra sheds light on how anger and violence have influenced the modern society. This deeply challenging read will make you rethink about the society we live in and the factors affecting it. Mishra uses widelyranging sources to re-examine the modern world divided by beliefs. The more you know, the more you’ll understand!

Automaton By Jamiroquai

It seems to be the season of comebacks as Jamiroquai, the British funk and acid jazz band is also gearing up to make waves in the music world with their eight studio album, Automaton. Adding new life to a dying music genre, the London-based band returns with a new electronic sound- a transition we certainly approve of! The title track, a sci-fi electronic number with an air of disco-funk, initially sounds very different from their previous work. The music goes into a heavily electronic direction with some cyber-rapping towards the end. Cloud 9 has a future funk sound accompanied with a disco groove and stunning vocals. According to the band, their latest music is meant to represent the rise of artificial intelligence and technology and forgetting to appreciate the simpler things in life. After a seven-year-long hiatus, our expectations were high and the musicians certainly hit the nail on the head. Go, give it a listen and tell us what you think!

Fiction

Behind her Eyes By Sarah Pinborough

Adele, the troubled wife of a local psychiatrist bumps into Louise, a single mum who also happens to be the mistress of Adele’s husband. Adele and David’s picture perfect marriage soon starts to unravel before Louise and it becomes very clear that something is very wrong with their relationship. Pinborough’s exquisite storytelling is addictive and consuming while nothing can prepare you for that explosive ending. The slow building suspense is beautifully written. The story will shock you and leave you in awe of the writer’s genius.

Not so much at the Shangri-La Hotel Doha. This opulent 5-star property ticks the box for great location and business meetings but also goes above and beyond the cold, clinical vibes that you often find in central hotels. You’re greeted by the friendliest staff – no one’s in a rush – in fact, everyone from the doorman to the bellboy, the concierge and those on the front desk, are all polite and happy to engage in light conversation whilst being attentive. It already feels like home! It’s the unique mix of Asian and Arabian hospitality that stands out here. The large lobby area is adorned in intricate floral-inspired design with touches of white, gold and deep browns complementing the various flower arrangements and murals, beautifully. We also love the artwork on the walls and the spacious hallways with elegant décor, giving the hotel a welcoming character and true Gulf charm. fact magazine

CLUB LIVING When we tell you that it’s worth booking yourself a Horizon Club room – believe us, it’s MORE than worth it. Our first thought – it’s BIG! Warm earth tones blend with contemporary design to create a comfortable, luxurious home. The sweeping city and Gulf views are the focal points of the floor-to-ceiling windows. This room is ideal for business travellers who want an exclusive retreat with the added benefits of homely comforts. For us, it was the small things that made a lasting impression; there were lots of plug sockets (YES! You can charge all your devices at the same time), the inviting Shangri-La signature bed which utilises patented body-contouring technology (we had an excellent night’s sleep), and the large shower with lovely L’Occitane amenities which made getting up in the morning and slipping out of the gorgeous bed, a little easier! Wi-Fi is fast, the views are incredible and the TV has been designed to accommodate wherever you’re viewing from – the bed, the cushy sofa-chairs or even the desk. However, there is one reason why this room type is a clear winner; guests receive access to the exclusive Horizon Club Lounge with its full range of privileges. This stunning executive lounge offers 360-degree panoramic views of the city as well as being a quiet haven for those who want to get some work done, read a good book, snack on delicious treats and 68

more. A fabulous room with a breathtaking lounge to enjoy – total bonus!

SHANGHAI CLUB When hunger strikes, look no further than the hotel’s newest culinary addition – Shanghai Club. Located on level 43/44, with its sleek stylish interior and dramatic chandeliers, Shanghai Club offers a mindblowing vista of Doha, teamed with a newage combination of chic restaurant and lounge/bar, providing the city’s cool crowd with a glamorous venue at which to dine, play and be seen. Not only is the venue a sight for sore

eyes, the staff provide knowledgeable and friendly service, but it’s the food that outshines everything else. When at the bar, go for one of the sweet mocktails with the beef bao – simply divine. The creative fusion bar food and selection of mouthwatering drinks is ideal for after-work meet-ups with colleagues and friends. For dinner, be prepared for palate-pleasing Cantonese cuisine. We love that each dish has a story and some level of interaction for the diners; try the Chinese style sashimi salad with salmon, seared tuna and a bit of both, all mixed at the table, and our favourite part of the meal – the sweet ending. fact magazine

The Melting Mandarin Orange (check our insta @factmagazine to see what it’s all about) – is unlike anything you’ve ever tasted! Chinese food lovers will adore the authentic dim sum and sumptuous soups, bbq, noodles and more. It’s also one of the only kitchens in Doha with five master chefs, each specialising in one of the country’s regional cuisines. Together, they offer the bold tastes of Sichuan and a carefully curated selection of classic and contemporary dishes that highlight the Shanghainese and Cantonese traditions. SO DELICIOUS!

REST & RELAX The hotel’s seventh-floor Health Club features some of Doha’s finest recreational facilities. Guests can work out at the state-of-the-art gym, relax in the steam and sauna rooms, or slip into the curving outdoor pool with a swim-up bar. But, the real sense of rejuvenation lies in the luxurious treatments at CHI, The Spa, which features eight private treatment rooms, an outdoor hydrotonic pool, and a team of highly skilled therapists. Opt for one of the CHI Signature Massages, which have been designed to completely relax the mind and revitalise the body. Firstly, let’s talk about the robes at the spa. They are hands down THE COMFIEST, most hugging bath robes you will ever wrap yourself in. We also loved that the treatment rooms come with their own private changing area and shower/restroom facilities with doors leading directly out to the hydrotonic pool – talk about personal service and pure indulgence! The treatment itself was spectacular, especially because of the palm-pressure technique which targets aching muscles – so.much.bliss. Though the Shangri-La Hotel Doha is located in a lively, cultural hub, its gracious Asian charm teamed with genuine Middle Eastern hospitality, elevates the hotel to being a luxury business stop and a sophisticated weekend retreat all in one. FOR MEN Stake your claim to the good life in laidback menswear with a quietly competitive streak. Relaxed shapes sport striped trims and performance fabrics – such as neoprene and bonded jersey – to keep would-be rivals on their toes. Impressive details like rubberised zip cords and bungee-style pullers are pointedly placed in the spirit of one-upmanship. Raise a few eyebrows with offbeat, chalky tones. Cloudy petrol and dusky pink, accented with bright blues and outrageous reds will set curtains twitching all over town. Texture is highly sought-after this season, with a hankering for suede bomber jackets, nylon outerwear, mouliné, and link stitching on knitwear that borders on obsession. Printed linings attract jealous stares, with enviable depictions of meticulously trimmed gardens making for a cause célèbre. Bags fit right in with the sports luxe trend with their rubberised leather finish. New scuba fabric shapes are a tantalising addition, the branded webbing and orange contrast zip pullers the subject of fierce fascination. FOR WOMEN Ted’s womenswear causes a stir with brazen femininity and unabashed romanticism. Classic silhouettes boast pristine lines and architectural folds across pieces in which to see and be seen. Soft shades of silver grey, cream and pretty pink form a delicate palette, accented with audacious pops of shocking pink, canary yellow and cobalt blue to pique one’s interest. Textures are beyond reproach, with all the juicy details dished out and placed just so: sheer burnout organza, lustrous satin and printed jacquard embellished with 3D flowers, a few of the gossip-worthy highlights. Prints are unrivalled, with hand-drawn manicured gardens, enticing pearls and layered oriental blossoms – nothing short of sensational. Accessories demand attention, with Ted’s signature bow snatching the limelight on strappy stiletto sandals and structured handbags featuring daring statement clasps and timeless top handles. Challenging the status quo are an equally elegant selection of backpacks in a new softer, rounder shape and available in scandalous pastel pink and desirable floral. ✤ GO: Shop Ted Baker’s SS’17 collection at Lagoona Mall. fact magazine

foodie corner

The unassuming Adagio Premium Aparthotel West Bay is nestled between Intercontinental Doha The City and The Gate Mall, and you may have bypassed it on many an occasion without stopping. This time, we took a trip inside to dine at the lovely restaurant Al Dirwandi.

T

he Arabic ambience of Al Dirwandi can be felt as soon as you enter the doorway of the restaurant. Dark wooden lattice-style carvings adorn the walls and ceiling, and large, golden lampshades hang above your head, casting an ethereal glow on the surroundings, even in the full light of day. Cosy tables are segregated by a large buffet area in the middle of the room, which is perfect for events and helps give the modest-sized restaurant a feeling of space. Outside, a large open terrace showcases panoramic views of the sky scrapers of West Bay from an angle that we have never seen before, with large, private booths at either end which can be booked for parties and social gatherings. We vowed right there and then that I would return with a group of friends one evening to take advantage of the perfect weather and enjoy the view of our city from a new perspective. Back inside, the waiting staff allowed us to pick my table, and we sat back to peruse the menu. Remaining predominantly Lebanese and Middle Eastern in composition, Chef Assaad Saad who originally hails from Tunisia is curating a brand new menu which includes traditional North African and Mediterranean dishes from his childhood. On Fridays, gather the family and enjoy the new buffet lunch at Al Dirwandi, served from 12.30pm to 4pm. A wide selection of starters, main courses and desserts along with live cooking stations and special activities for kids. QR120 per person, kids below six-years-old eat for free, and kids aged between seven and

Heavily laced with aromatic spices and including large chunks of lamb and chicken, as well as Merguez sausages, this is a celebratory dish which is eaten on very special occasions in North Africa. The mouthwatering Fillet of Hamour and the beautifully-cooked Duck Breast a L’Orange, were also major standouts. With the launch of the new menu, Al Dirwandi is set to receive the recognition it duly deserves on the Doha dining scene. Adagio Premium Aparthotel West Bay Part of the French group Accor Hotels, this is the first apartment hotel under the brand in Qatar. As part of their expansion the group is planning to extend its territories to open nearly eleven hotels in Qatar by the end of 2020 in parallel with the distinctive expansion in the Gulf region for more than 70 Hotels. Refresh and Renew Having indulged in exquisite treatments at The Westin Doha Hotel & Spa’s aptly named Heavenly Spa, FACT’s Sofia Graniello gives us the lowdown on why you should, too.

A

fter getting back from vacay not too long ago, some welldeserved relaxation time was on the cards for me. With the stresses of travel and different time zones, I wanted to make sure that those pesky knots in my neck and shoulders were long gone before returning to work. My desire to get rejuvenated led me to Heavenly Spa for the first time. I was intrigued yet excited as to what The Westin Doha Hotel & Spa’s haven of relaxation had to offer with its modern facilities. As soon as I walked in, the venue spoke modernity, comfort, and space with a sleek twist to its ambience. But also, the spa offers a certain zen vibe for its new and loyal customers to enjoy and feel at ease. The lovely staff members were quick and helpful at reception and I was swiftly taken to their stylish and contemporary changing rooms where I slipped into a more comfortable robe for my 90-minute treatment. you, it’s by far one the biggest and yet roomy hotels in the city, offering a myriad of dining experiences, entertainment and much more. Furthermore, the spa is located on the mezzanine floor of the prestigious hotel and holds designated male and female zones with wet relaxation areas, saunas, steam rooms and hydrotherapy pool facilities. I was taken to my treatment room for an all-pampering session, and I started off with a full body scrub that my professional therapist explained would help to sooth those troubled areas in no time – she was right. Later, I stepped into a quick shower to remove all residues and then began my facial treatment – clean and smooth. My facial consisted of pore cleansing and moisturising to bring elasticity back to the skin, ending with a wonderful soothing massage. And to top it all, I ended my treatment with a quick manicure, perfect for any girls on the go who need a change of polish on the spot. After what seemed to be an entire day of pampering, I was ready to tackle my workload, the outside world (and the Doha traffic) with much more positive energy. ✤ GO: Visit Heavenly Spa at The Westin Doha Hotel & Spa.
