DISTINCTIVE DESIGN

THE FIRST HALF OF 2017 has given us a number of firsts in the world of luxury yachts and we’re highlighting just a few of them in this issue!
A convoy of brand new water vessels has been delivered by their shipbuilders; CRN celebrated the M/Y Cloud 9, whilst Lurssen brought the 74-metre Aurora to the sea and Heesen Yachts announced a major move forward on its Project Antares. On page 42 we introduce you to the Super Majesty 100 (M/Y Nahar), which happens to be the very first superyacht to be delivered by Gulf Craft and not only that – it also happens to be the builder’s very first to feature a sky lounge (it’s as impressive as it sounds). We’re excited to see what they have planned for their first 50-metre plus megayacht!
Hadag was invited to Tuscany for the 18th Argentario Sailing Week hosted by Porto Santo Stefano, as part of the annual and muchanticipated Panerai Classic Yachts Challenge 2017. For the first time in the event’s history, however, the fleet competed in four rather than the usual three races. The formidable racing arena in the Golfo di Talamone featured courses of between 15 and 20 miles in length. All of the races were successfully run thanks to good weather and sea conditions – check out the beautiful on-sea action starting page 60.
The stars of this issue come courtesy of Riva; the stylish 56’ Rivale (p18) and 100’ Corsaro (p30), both of which have captured the attention and hearts of yacht owners and fans all across the world. Hadag takes a closer look at exactly what makes these ocean beauties so special. We also take you behind the scenes of Super Cars Arabia Club and catch up with the one and only Sheikh Salman bin Isa Al Khalifa to learn more about the first-of-its-kind club and what makes it so thrilling (p48). Be sure to check out our paradise getaway to Anantara Kalutara Resort in Sri Lanka for your next luxury getaway (p82).
Wishing you all a summer filled with nautical fun!

CRN, THE ITALIAN shipbuilder and brand, part of the Ferretti Group, specialising in the construction of fully-custom steel and aluminium pleasure vessels between 40 and 100 metres in length, has successfully delivered M/Y Cloud 9.
Following the breathtaking launching ceremony earlier this year, CRN’s latest yacht weighed anchor from the Ancona-based Shipyard’s marina just a few days ago and will now cruise the Mediterranean Sea, catching everyone’s eye with its strong personality and bespoke design.
M/Y Cloud 9 is the result of the close cooperation between CRN and design firms Studio Zuccon International Project and Winch Design.
CRN’s Technical Department took care of naval engineering, design firm Zuccon International Project designed the yacht’s outer profile, while Winch Design was in charge of the interiors and the exterior guest area. Burgess acted as Owner’s Representatives throughout the project. The final outcome is more than 1,000 square meters enriched by fine design elements that magnificently decorate all the yacht’s deck levels.
Cloud 9 is represented for charter in the Mediterranean this summer by Burgess as worldwide central agents. www.crn-yacht.com
Heesen Yachts celebrated the joining of the hull and superstructure of Project Antares, and the installation of her two MTU 8V4000 M63 engines, which took place at the facility in Oss. Project Antares is a 55m steel-hulled FDHF vessel that was sold just over four weeks ago to a very experienced American yachtsman. She will have some special features to carry out her role as mothership to the owner’s sport fishing fleet, such as the possibility to re-fuel and re-charge two sport fishing boats, allowing for several days out at sea. Moreover, Project Antares boasts a major difference from her equally beautiful sister ships: an owner’s apartment that is 30 per cent larger, having been extended from 62 to 80sqm.
Italian designers Francesco Paszkowski and Margherita Casprini are now working closely with the owner and his team to personalise the interior design of his new 740GT vessel.
The Ferretti Yachts 450 has two very good reasons to be celebrating after claiming two awards in a single month! The first accolade came at the Asia Marine & Boating Awards, which took place at the 22nd China International Boat Show 2017 in Shanghai. The Ferretti Yachts 450 was named the Best Motor Yacht below 55ft. The judges praised the qualities that make the new boat unique: graceful style, practical design, unparalleled on-board comfort and a dynamically versatile interior layout.
Another triumph came just a few days later in Europe. At the start of Internautica 2017 - in Marina Portoroz, Slovenia - the Ferretti Yachts 450 came first in the Motor Yacht over 41 up to 50 feet category at the Adriatic Boat of the Year Awards. Congratulations to Ferretti Yachts!
Lürssen successfully delivered the 74-metre yacht Aurora, which was built to exacting standards and offers an entirely bespoke design. Keeping in mind the owner’s desire to enjoy the yacht with family, the design includes many areas, which are intimate and personal. All her decks were built taking family spaces into consideration. Rich mahogany and stainless steel adorn the exterior profile, reflecting the romance of transatlantic liners and giving the yacht a timeless grace. Her interior is based on the early 1900s Art Deco era, taking inspiration from influential artists and designers from the time period.
Emirates-based Gulf Craft continues to eye global expansion amid what the company’s Chief Executive Officer, Erwin Bamps, is describing as an “evolutionary and exciting time for the leisure marine industry.”
The award-winning yacht and boat builder recently forged new distribution partnerships, and has embarked on a programme of major investments and a global strategy that puts evolving client demands at the center of product development.
More than 70 per cent of Gulf Craft’s yachts and boats are exported outside the UAE, and its masterpieces can be found around the world through its network of dealers, stretching from Europe and the Middle East, to South East Asia and Australia.
Most recently, Gulf Craft announced its exclusive partnership with Germany-based Drettmann Yachts International for the distribution of its luxury yachts in the Europe, Ukraine, and Russia.
Firmly holding its place as one of the world’s top ten superyacht shipyards, Gulf Craft remains steadfast in its commitment to delivering the same quality of service regardless of where it operates, says Bamps. Mr Bamps said: “Our dynamic growth enables us to increase our reach and take our core values to the world. For us, those values are defined by the quality of craft that we produce and our commitment to customer service.
“Thanks to growing public interest in luxury cruising experiences, an emerging desire to explore new destinations, and a market focus that is increasingly shifting from form to function, key quality attributes, such as user-friendliness, safety, reliability, onboard space utilization, and value retention, have become priorities worldwide,” he added. Gulf Craft continues to receive international recognition for its consistent ability to deliver seaworthy creations. The builder recently received the ‘Best Asian Built Yacht’ award for its flagship Majesty 155 at the Asia Boating Awards in Singapore. And now, with 35 years of experience in world-class craftsmanship, an exceptional track record, and plans to build its first 50-metre plus megayacht, Gulf Craft continues to expand both globally and in terms of its product portfolio. The builder is approaching its ambitions with a careful analysis of its assets and resources, and is doing everything in its power to ensure organic, sustainable growth. www.gulfcraftinc.com

Revealed at the world premiere in Sarnico, the Riva 56’ Rivale is already causing a stir in the world of luxury marine life for its unrivalled openyacht design and distinctive style. Hadag takes a closer look…
he 56’ Rivale combines the utmost attention to every detail with the use of the finest quality materials - the distinctive hallmarks of the brand - from the high gloss mahogany of the interiors to the natural teak of the exteriors, as well as lacquered finishes, stainless steel details, mirrored and glazed surfaces, and superior leathers.
The completely new hull further enhances the most popular technical, comfort and innovative yachting features that have led to the success of Riva craft in recent years.
A thin aquamarine-coloured line is a motif shared by the fabulous coupé models, the futuristic convertibles and the iconic Rivamare, of which the new 56’ Rivale can be regarded as the “big brother”.
The stern, whose garage houses a Williams 325 tender protected by a hatch in double shell carbon fibre, features a major innovation: during underwater movement of the swimming platform, the steps on the left become partially submerged revealing additional steps in the hull, providing a single most convenient stairway for getting into the water and back on board without having to use the steel ladder, although available for use.
In the cockpit, at the far end of the stern, there is a large sun pad. The mooring equipment is housed in compartments set in the bulwark; these are covered by grilles made in stainless steel, as is the fairlead. Underneath the roll bar, which adds a beautiful finishing touch to the profile and acts as a supporting structure for the antennas of the electronic apparatus, the main deck lounge features a spacious, forward- facing sitting area completed with L-shaped sofa and teak dining table on the left.

This convivial area continues through to the forward section with a raised dormeuse, on the left of the new bridge, equipped with control, monitoring and navigation systems featuring touchscreen displays, including MAN-Boening’s innovative wide version engine data display.
Behind the control station is a cabinet unit set along the bulwark, which houses a fridge, ice-maker, grill, sink and bar equipment for at least six people. As with the Rivamare, there are practical containers for separate waste collection as well as various storage compartments running all the way to the helm seat and integrated into its base. In case of bad weather, or if the owner simply wants some shade, the electro-hydraulically operated bimini top can be opened as can the clear side shields, offering excellent shelter and protection for the whole area.
Below deck, the 56’ Rivale offers its guests the comfort of a very elegant lounge-dinette, where mirrored surfaces alternate with varnished mahogany, dark lacquered woods and dark leather coverings. The resulting interplay of different colours and materials is the “signature” of Riva interiors.
Sofas and ottoman seats are covered in fabric created by Ivano Redaelli, an Italian company that supplied the decorative cushions and tartan blanket too. The wall-to-wall carpet is manufactured by the Dutch company Van Besouw.
The galley, situated on the port side, is partly invisible thanks to the mirrored walls - where the TV screen is located - and the sliding lacquered surfaces covering the sink and work tops. It features a host of storage cabinets and, in the fridge area; a unit equipped with the bar set includes a special compartment for storing a Champagne magnum.
Quality materials, distinctive design and attention to detail are all at the forefront of this yacht.
A glass hatch cover, in addition to the large hull windows, ensures there is abundant natural light in the galley.
The independent day head, accessed directly from the dinette, makes it possible to exploit the full potential of the open yacht for day cruises, as guests can use this facility without entering cabins and bathrooms used by those staying overnight.
The sleeping area features two en-suite cabins in which you can admire the same interplay of colours and materials found in the lounge. The master suite has the head on the left side, while the VIP cabin situated in the forward area features many storage compartments and a starboard side head.
The heads décor consists of different woods, light and dark lacquered surfaces, mirrored surfaces and white Corian.
The crew cabin has a single bed with bathroom with separate access from a hatch in the cockpit, concealed by the dormeuse. It can be replaced by a third guest cabin.
The new open model is fitted with twin1000 HP MAN engines, or with twin 1200 HP MAN engines.
In both cases, the propulsion system is V-Drive. With the standard engines, the 56’ Rivale can reach a cruising speed of 31 knots and a maximum speed of 35 knots. With the more powerful engines, performance increases to a cruising speed of 34 knots and a maximum speed of 38 knots respectively (preliminary data).
Access to the engine room is through two hatches on the bridge, one in the centre of the cockpit and the other at the far end of the stern on the left. On request, a Seakeeper stabiliser can be fitted to minimise roll in open sea and at anchor.
An open yacht where every single feature has been executed with great attention to detail – we love it!

The Riva 100’ Corsaro has been winning over the boating world since yacht lovers got a taste of the vessel at its first-ever première against the exclusive backdrop of the Aberdeen Marina Club in Hong Kong. Since its unveiling in Asia, the first for any Riva yacht, the new maxi flybridge yacht has captured the hearts of owners and fans alike. Hadag explores…
he 100’ Corsaro is the new intriguing chapter in the history of this iconic brand that in 2017 is celebrating its 175th anniversary. A descendent from legendary models, the new flybridge yacht is the perfect blend of comfort, performance, style and safety. Its majestic size is complemented - in an exceptionally balanced way - by a sporty look distinguished by a sleek outline, metallic colours in dark shades and broad expanses of glass.
The majestic spearhead is impossible to ignore; so easy to desire. The very name of the 100’ Corsaro hints at a daring and powerful buccaneer, full of the pioneering promise of its predecessors, to the joy and passion of yacht owners and enthusiasts. With looks as sharp as a spearhead and with its grand spaces and liveability, this is a new maxi flybridge as only Riva could design, combining the thrill of sporty performance with the pleasure afforded by pure luxury.
The Riva 100’ Corsaro is the result of a joint effort between Officina Italiana Design, the studio founded by designers Mauro Micheli and Sergio Beretta, which is exclusively responsible for the entire Riva fleet, along with the Product Strategy Committee guided by Piero Ferrari and the Ferretti Group Engineering Department.
The mesmerising yacht is the successor to many legendary yachts with that extra special touch of class, the essence of Riva.
The very name of the 100’ Corsaro hints at a daring and powerful buccaneer, full of the pioneering promise for passionate yacht owners.
Just shy of 100ft (98ft precisely), the new 100’ Corsaro is reportedly the largest 100’ boat currently on the market.
A quick glance reveals the many features that immediately remain impressed in your mind, starting with the massive amount of space, including a huge private area for the owner on the main deck with a wide body master suite, as well as four suites below deck, and a generous totally customisable sundeck. The large, attractive windows stretch along the hull and superstructure, giving this yacht unforgettable impact and offering wide-angle panoramic views from inside.
Just shy of 100ft (98ft precisely), the new 100 Corsaro is reportedly the largest 100’ boat currently on the market, and unsurprisingly, very stable on the water. It has stabilising fins to reduce drag, which increases efficiency on the water to help it cruise at a maximum speed of 28 knots. The fins can be replaced by gyroscopes on request, which helps to remove even more of the boat roll.
The 100’ Corsaro is the only flybridge model in the Riva’s fleet at the moment, sporting a fibreglass hull with sleek metallic paint. Uninterrupted views, come through!
Downstairs on the main deck, where you’d usually find the Master Suite, is the notably alluring feature – a private lounge where you can do everything from sing karaoke to play video games and watch films whilst the cabinet next door plays home to a wine cellar, fridge and ice-maker – cocktail anyone?
So, where’s the bedroom? The Master Suite is placed one deck below, where it features a vanity area and a sofa on both sides, with a king-sized bed facing a hidden flat screen TV. There’s plenty of storage space in the wardrobe and cabinets, all upholstered with natural leather and white lacquering.
There’s also a VIP cabin with a double bed, and a double cabin with two twins — all rooms are accompanied by en-suite bathrooms and showers – plus comfortable crew quarters to accompany. In the back, a new operating system, patented by Ferretti Group, allows the garage door to be tilted down diagonally to create a ‘beach club’ of sorts at water level. As this happens, the garage is flooded so you can launch the tender and jet-ski. In addition to water activities, it makes for a nice area for guests to relax in the water as well.
Versatility is what the 100’ Corsaro is all about and if you like the sound of that, you’ll love this beast and beauty of a boat.

Gulf Craft has delivered the first Majesty 100 superyacht (M/Y Nahar) to its new owner. The luxurious 32-metre craft made its debut back in March at Dubai International Boat Show, and now the first person to order one at the event has taken delivery of his second Gulf Craft-built yacht.
THE MAJESTY YACHTS brand epitomises innovative engineering, craftsmanship, and state-of-the-art technology. Distinguished by immaculate exterior styling and exquisite workmanship inside, it is the signature line of Emirates boat builder Gulf Craft, which celebrates its 35th anniversary this year.
“The Majesty 100 is a dream for entry-level superyacht owners, whether they want to unwind by the marina or venture out onto the ocean,” said Gulf Craft’s CEO, Erwin Bamps. “Its delivery marks an exciting new phase in the model’s milestone, and we’re thrilled to see our team’s efforts come to fruition.”
At 32 metres the Majesty 100 is Gulf Craft’s entry superyacht and the very first to feature a sky-lounge – a more comfortable version of the traditional fly-bridge. Amply accommodating relaxation areas, a wet bar, electric barbeque, and even an optional Jacuzzi, it enables passengers sitting in the lounge to take in fabulous views as they relax inside. It also has two balconies, one on each side of the rear seating area, and a huge raised wheelhouse where guests can sit back and watch the captain in action up close.
When operated at a speed of 12.3 knots, the Majesty 100’s fuel consumption is impressively economical. It allows a cruising range of 1,050 nautical miles and can sail at up to 23 knots thanks to its two powerful 1,900 horsepower MAN engines.
V-Drive propulsion offers a smoother, quieter ride, as do the ingenious fin stabilizers. The Majesty 100’s sophisticated remote-control steering system offers an easier, more efficient way to maneuver the superyacht, making docking a breeze.
When passengers wish to step back on dry land, an innovative sliding mechanism lowers dinghies right onto the water, a process that was designed and engineered by Gulf Craft’s technical and design departments.

Hadag meets the man behind the motoring mayhem as we catch up with Sheikh Salman bin Isa Al Khalifa to talk about the famous Super Cars Arabia Club that he started with Auf Al Delaimi and Talal Fakhro.
How did Super Cars Arabia Club start?
We started it in the beginning of 2014, we used to catch up as friends in a group and we’d park our super cars next to each other and ride around. Around 10 cars at least.
Then the idea came, as we know each super car like Ferrari or Lamborghini, they have their own clubs and activities as each owner has a membership. However, they’re each limited to only one brand.
So, here we had the idea to start a club that can gather all the fancy super cars under one roof as event management company. It began as a whatsapp group between our friends in Bahrain and KSA and we reached to 30 cars.
We decided as we went all around Bahrainwhy don’t we visit Dubai? But because it’s too similar to Bahrain, we decided to tie the Dubai trip with visiting Oman as well. Then we come up with a standard and rules so the owner of the super car can join us on the trip along with some photographers. That was our first overseas journey.
What kind of preparation is involved for the trips?
Each activity in the club takes up to eight months of perpetration as we can have about 35 cars and to travel we have to set accommodation for the drivers and the helpers and the shipping of the cars. We even send some support cars in case of any accidents. We also do a mock up test for the trip before we approve it just in case of any bad roads or off roads.
So we send leading cars that we follow and then our super cars and then the support cars following us, almost 40 cars and 60 people.
What kind of activities do you do on these trips?
Some times we visit more than one country, and in each country we do a visit to something related to super cars like a factory or a circuit and nice roads.
Tell us about your favourite trip ?
My favourite trip was to Europe as the roads and scenery was great. I love Cannes, as it’s my favourite spot. I loved the mountains an all. Every year we have two trips; one is regional and the other international.
The first one was called desert run and it’s the one from Dubai to Oman as i mentioned before and the other one is Euroabia and then we did the one in Oman and we called it Omana, which visited Yas Marina Circuit in Abu Dhabi and Dubai too.
Then we did Europe again but this time a different route. We started from Sweden as we visited the factory of the fastest car on the planet and it’s called Koenigsegg and it’s hand made.
We have sponsors and of course each driver has to pay for the package. That’s it – we take care of the rest – the safety and all the travelling check list. All they need to do is come and ride, and enjoy.
I love boating and being on yachts – I’m a big fan of the sea, but I don’t go fishing. All I like to do is be by the water with no mobile phone and completely disengage from the world. The sound of the water and the beauty of it helps me to calm down and relax.
Officine Panerai continues its extraordinary commitment to promoting classic sailing with the 13th edition of the leading international circuit for the grandes dames of the sea. Hadag took a trip to Italy where the 18th Argentario Sailing Week was hosted by Porto Santo Stefano in Tuscany.
THE PANERAI CLASSIC YACHTS Challenge has long been acknowledged as the leading international circuit for classic and vintage sailing yachts. Celebrating its 13th outing in 2017, the circuit spans 10 of the world’s most fascinating and maritime tradition-rich regattas on a calendar that has become a reference point for lovers of the stunning beauty, glorious history and absolute uniqueness of all classic craft.
At the Tuscan round, it was the yachts Moonbeam of Fife (1903, Big Boats), Linnet (1905, Vintage Yachts), Ganbare (1973, Classic Yachts) and Raindrop (2014, Spirit of Tradition) that emerged as winners of the Panerai watches. In all, 47 boats from 10 different nations competed in the second Mediterranean stage of the Panerai Classic Yachts Challenge, which is being sponsored for the 13th consecutive year by the luxury sports watch-maker, Officine Panerai.
For the first time in the event’s history, however, the fleet competed in four rather than the usual three races. The formidable racing arena in the Golfo di Talamone featured courses of between 15 and 20 miles in length. All of the races were successfully run thanks to good weather and sea conditions.
Moonbeam of Fife, built by the legendary Fife yard of Scotland, won the Big Boats category in all four races, outdoing her Fife siblings, Hallowe’en (1926) and Cambria (1928), in the

standings. The 25-metre gaff cutter, also known as Moonbeam III, has competed in all the leading classic sailing events of the last 20 years since undergoing major restoration work in England in 1998.
Linnet swept the boards in the Vintage Yachts at Porto Santo Stefano. Luna Rossa boss and former America’s Cup challenger Patrizio Bertelli’s 13.2-metre gaff sloop is a New York Yacht Club 30, a one-design of which just 18 examples were ever built. Linnet beat all comers in her category, including illustrious racers of the likes of Spartan (1913) and Chinook (1916). All three yachts were launched by the Herreshoff yard of Bristol, which produced hundreds of boat designs that contributed to some of the most glorious pages in racing history.
With three victories and a second position in her class, Ganbare, the 1973 One Tonner that secured Doug Peterson a place amongst the great designers, dominated the Classic Yachts standings. The 10.49-metre will, of course, be attempting to repeat the season victory she delivered in her class on the 2016 Panerai circuit. Her closest rival at Argentario was Ardi (1968) aboard which Italian sailing hero, Admiral Agostino Straulino, used to compete.
As happened in 2016, the little gaff sloop Raindrop won the Spirit of Tradition class, ahead of another Wianno, Wind & Wine, and Tabasco 5 (1981).
Other notable victors in the sub-categories into which the Argentario Sailing Week fleet was divided included Rowdy (1916) in the Vintage Marconi A, the same category in which Officine Panerai’s 1936 ketch, Eilean, was competing, Skylark of 1937 in the Vintage Marconi B and Naïf (1973) in the Classic A.
That fact that the placings were spread so widely between the various boats in the first round at Antibes in France and Porto Santo Stefano in Tuscany leaves the battle for end- of-season honours wide open in all the various categories of the 2017 Panerai Classic Yachts Challenge.
As per tradition, the Panerai Classic Yachts Challenge rounds in France (Antibes, Cannes), Italy (Argentario) and Spain (Mahon on the island of Minorca) comprise the Mediterranean Circuit. The yachts participating in each of the events on the Circuit build up points which go towards winning the overall Trophy. In the run-up to the next round on the Mediterranean Circuit, at Mahon in Spain between August 29 and September 2, the next Panerai-sponsored event is set to take place at Cowes on ht Isle of Wight in England. The Cowes Panerai British Classic Week is a stand-alone regatta staged in one of the most iconic venues in international sailing history.

Figment is the highly anticipated third chapter of ‘Portraits of Life’, an exuberant exploration of the second cycle of the Amouage narrative by Creative Director Christopher Chong. An expression of elusive beauty inspired by Chong’s enduring fascination with Bhutan, the Land of Happiness. In Figment for Man, Chong artfully contrasts and juxtaposes scents to explore the nuances of these illusions. Teasing the imagination to the possibilities of the unknown, he suggests serene beauty with floral and fresh top notes of Lemon, Geranium and Pink Pepper. A luminous heart of Sandalwood dramatically entwines with Animalic Accord and Vetiver for facets of leather and smokiness to tantalise the subconscious. Capturing a mystical aura, Figment for Man intoxicates with a base of Labdanum, Guaiac Wood and Earthy Accord for woody and balsamic tones laced with notes of musk to complete the continuum of wonder.

The new model further extends the boundaries between an ambitious sports car and a comfortable cruising car with technical highlights such as rear axle steering, electromechanical roll stabilisation and a three-chamber air suspension. Meanwhile, inside a completely new display and control concept greets the driver and passengers upon entry. In many areas, touchsensitive surfaces replace classic hard keys, and high-resolution displays merge into the interior. The digitalisation of the Porsche interior, which began with the 918 Spyder, is now available in the Stuttgart-based manufacturer’s four-door saloon.
The Panamera 4S is a beautiful machine. Boasting a 2.9-litre V6 twin-turbo engine, this is a completely new development for the beast which produces 440 hp, available at 5,650 rpm and represents a 20 hp increase from the previous model.
The second we put our pedal to the metal on the open roads, this car blazes down the highway with great control, speed and, most of all, smooth release. We feel liberated just by driving it!
Reaching 100 km/h in just 4.4 seconds (4.2 seconds with the Sport Chrono Package), the Panamera 4S has a top speed of 289 km/h –how’s that for mind-blowing?
All Panamera engines have been redesigned to produce more power, whilst significantly improving fuel economy and reducing emissions. An NEDC combined fuel consumption of 8.2 – 8.1 l/100 km (186 – 184 g/km CO2) means that the new Panamera 4S offers a fuel saving of up to 1.0 l/100 km or 11 per cent in comparison to the first generation model.
The eight-speed PDK enables an even better gear ratio spread alongside a reduction in fuel consumption, because the seventh and eighth gears are designed as engine speedreducing overdrive gears, with all models reaching their top speed in sixth gear. Less time spent pumping gas and more time for punching in those miles!
The Panamera 4S applies its power to the road via Porsche Traction Management (PTM) – a permanent, fully variable all-wheel drive system. Tuned to the specific driving situation, PTM sensors continually monitor wheel speeds and perfect performance on dry roads as well as in wet conditions. Although it’s well and truly summer here in the Gulf, we tested the PTM capabilities on both gravel, tarmac, and (with the help of a water hose) wet surfaces – it worked perfectly with the wheels adapting to every different driving condition. Winner!
Recognisable sports car aesthetics which make up the typical Porsche flyline in the new Panamera include pronounced shoulders, athletic flanks and an extremely fast roof line that is 20 mm lower at the rear. LED headlights and larger wheels also add to a sporty look.
The sharpened exterior includes a completely new front-end design, with a crossbar in the radiator grille emphasising the car’s width and an arrow-shaped bonnet that features a prominently contoured powerdome.
The rear of the vehicle now further highlights the Panamera’s four-door coupé credentials, distinguishing it from a conventional saloon. The standout, for us, is the three-dimensional LED rear lights that include integrated four-point brake lights, interconnected by a narrow LED strip, which result in a distinctive night design.
The luxury saloon drive experience is taken to a new level, through the functionality and easy interaction of the new Porsche Advanced Cockpit.
Its intuitive user interface, makes operation of the communication, convenience and assistance systems easier than ever. The
12.3-inch display touchscreen marks the next stage of development for the Porsche Communication Management (PCM) system. For the benefit of the driver, front and rear passengers, classic hard keys and conventional instruments have been significantly reduced. Instead they have been replaced with touch-sensitive panels and individually configurable displays.
In keeping with the overall concept of the Panamera, the chassis unites the cruising comfort of a luxury saloon with the performance of a true sports car.
The Panamera 4S does an excellent job of harmoniously balancing sporty performance, comfort and luxury, for sports car drivers who appreciate four doors and four seats.
A truly attractive offering in its segment, Porsche succeeds in delivering another motoring icon.
