Editor Turkey maintains its advantages about branding and offering products with high value added, so it continues to be a manufacturer country that are demanded in Europe and global markets. Reinforcing its market domination during the economic crisis through new designs and patterns, Turkey is reaping the full benefits of strategic position in the home textile industry with proximity to markets with high purchasing power. Seeing national industry's future at exporting of products with high value added, domestic manufacturer is stabilizing its market position by ing or R&D and design. Turkish home textile industry had suffered a major setback in manufacturing and sales in earlier period of the crisis, but it achieved to bounce back at short notice. Also European Union economy recovers after several years of recession and it is reflected in exhibitions which are organized in EU. Although it isn't expected a real rise in number of exhibitor or visitors, fairs like Proposte continue to keep their importance. So we think, for Turkish exhibitors, positive reactions about Proposte will be repeated this year, too. Proposte has already been significant for Turkish companies and so it will continue to be after this. We don't expect to see immediately recovering in Europe in terms of exporters, but we see strong evidences of emerging economic buoyancy for EU and it will regain its position in the medium term. Meanwhile I have to say, it's expected that Turkish manufacturers would be affected negatively in some basic products in European market because EU granted the duty free market access under the Generalized System of Preference to 10 countries such as Pakistan, Georgia which will enable them to export textile goods to EU countries till 2017. But as we said Turkey will be able to increase export to Europe through its products with quality, high value added and market advantages.

WHISPER

Imagine a late spring afternoon. A light breeze tiptoes through the air as the sun filters through the windows, leaving faint shadows on the white washed floor. In the distance someone is listening to soft music as dulcet tones float through the air. The curtains rustle in the breeze and you are transported back to happy memories; there are soft whispers of romance and times gone by.

CHIVASSO

This is the inspiration for the latest Chivasso collection, Whispers. Fabrics are ethereal; delicate colours were used to emphasize the beautiful rich historical patterns and designs. This collection has many layers including sumptuous velvets, great solids and exquisite prints. The fabrics are complemented a new range of exclusive wallpapers. While the designs of the collection are inspired by antique prints, the use of varied ground materials make the line highly contemporary and completely original.

Mr. Selahattin Bilen, Owner of Donare Selbi Textile, answered questions of Fair World Home Textile Magazine for Proposte volume... Q - What will you say about Heimtextil, when compared to Evteks? SB - Heimtextil is one of the most longestablished exhibitions in the industry. The leading companies meet in this fair and all industry players follow it closely. These two important indicators make Heimtextil valuable. It has a leader role in the global home textile. I can say that it is more advantageous to reach European customers in comparison to Evteks. But, in parallel with development of Turkish home textile industry, Evteks gains steady and gradually importance. The starting point of East and West, Istanbul also helps manufacturers and customers participate in the fair. It deserves to be among events you have to visit during the year. Both of them are significance events for promotion and vision of Turkish home textile. Q - Could you brief us about contribution of exhibitions to Turkish economy and your trade volume? SB -It helps domestic producers increase their trading and lead up to employment and incentives. So it contributes to Turkish economy. The fact that it's paving the way for new business contacts and currency contribution can be seen as extra benefits. It's also important for Turkey's promotion. I think that exhibitions are a crucial platform for the best promotion of Turkey in the industry.

DONARE SELBİ TEKSTİL INTERVIEW

Q - What do you think of the industry's general situation? SB - I think that Turkish industrialists made a great progress in home textile. We were mentioning simple and products with low added value ten years ago, now we can offer designs and quality that can shape trends. We can reinforce our existing position in global markets by products with high value added thanks to R&D works.

“I think that exhibitions are a crucial platform for the best promotion of Turkey in the industry.”

Q - How will 2014 be for home textile industry, could you assess briefly it? SB - It seems to be a little difficult. Political and economic risks that took place in Arabic countries and our neighboring countries, affect all exporting sectors. Stagnation in first quarter of the year are same for all sectors because of electoral period and political competitiveness, but I believe that markets will stir again after the elections. Also rise in American and European markets can make 2014 a better year than 2013. ®

INTERVIEW DOSTLAR TEKSTİL

WE DID WHAT NOBODY COULD DO IN FLOCK PRINTING! Mr. Erdinç Sert, Dostlar Textile Operating Manager and Chemical Engineer, answered questions of Fair World Home Textile Magazine.

O L F

Q – When did Dostlar Textile establish and could you brief us about the company’s operations? It was established in 2010. We’ve made a foray into the industry with a solid structure and knowledge although it’s a new company

On our operations, we do patterned flock printing on all kind of fabric, mainly upholstery as well as clothing fabric but now upholstery has a share of 80 percent in our production. Frankly, flock printing is a product the industry is afraid of. There were a lot of suppliers that weren’t enough in terms of quality. In recent years, customers faced some problems spalling and peeling. We did various researches on this kind of problems and managed seriously to sort out them. . Looking at the existing situation, I can say that we really made a significant progress because we boosted the sector that was turned away from. I think the main reason is that we attach great importance to quality. Q - What is the main reason that the textile sector choose you?

We are the best in our business. I think there are just two companies on flock printing in sense of quality in Turkey and we are one of them. I can say, the reason is price, quality and especially delivery on time. Q - Are demand just coming from domestic market? Do you work with foreign companies abroad? Yes, we have some foreigner customers but we work mainly with Turkish companies because of the contract manufacturing. All of fabrics that we used and made flock printing on have been sending abroad. Our customers export them to Russia, Ukraine, Iran, Iraq, Libya, Tunisia, Algeria and a lot of countries. We have no direct sales abroad but they export our products.

Mustafa YAĞAR

DOSTLAR TEKSTİL INTERVIEW Q - Do you think that the sector's market share will increase after this stage? Speculations say that flock printing was good just 1-2 years but then the sector is stopped but I don't believe that. As long as you make quality production and make a world of difference, I think it will continue... We, as a company, are going very well, there is no any trouble. If we maintain this quality in coming years, I don't think there will be any problem.

K C O Q - Will we see widely flock products in Evteks Istanbul this year? Of course, the most of our customers will exhibit them on their booths. We have already started to work with many company demanding different designs. Q - Do you think to participate in the fair?

We, as a company, don't think it because we don't manufacture. But I want to add that our customers' stands will be there, so our products will be exhibited in the fair. If we participate in exhibition, it frustrates our customers, but of course we attend always the exhibition as visitor. Q - Do you visit foreign fairs or will you...?

Now we can't attend but we want to attend fairs such us Heimtextil, MooD in accordance with demand. We think it'll benefit us. Q - Do you have an R&D department?

We do a standard job because we make contract manufacturing. There are always R&D works. We are working always within today. Previously washing was a problem for us but we solved it. Now we work on cologne and have a serious success about it. Before, when cologne poured out, a flock was poured with a tab, now there is no any pouring with even fifteen tabs. These are all R&D studies.

Murat TOPUZOĞULLARI

Q - We witness that Dostlar Textile made a really serious progress over three years. Could you tell us your targets? We are growth-oriented company. Customers request us, so we think always over them; research what we can do for customers. When they are achieved, they bring with it success. Recently we purchased a ram, our efforts relating it are also continuing. We will make finish and flip processes and filling material from the outside. If we get any demand, we will use our all opportunities to meet the demand.

Question "How can we increase quality" gains a new answer everyday in our company. We continue R&D works.
