THE BIG 3 Whether you’ve been attending Faith Church for a long time or you are a first time visitor, THE PAPER is here to help! Being a part of this church family is a partnership in growth, so we encourage you to be involved in 3 ways:
WORSHIP ON THE WEEKENDS Gather with others to listen to a message from God’s Word, sing, pray and lift up the name of Jesus. Attend a service at one of our campuses. Faith Kids (infant-5th grade) is a safe place where kids can worship Jesus at their level. Don’t miss the opportunity to gather with others and worship each week. Invite a friend.
CONNECT IN COMMUNITY Being a follower of Jesus was never meant to be done alone. Sole-ranger Christianity usually means discouragement and failure. God has provided a better way- Biblical community. Community keeps us encouraged, helps us build meaningful friendships, and most importantly, helps us grow as Christians. This may be through a Mini-Church, Bible study or Serving Team. No matter what your age, God does not intend for you to walk through life alone. Be real. Be known.
SERVE OTHERS Join a weekend Serving Team at one of our campuses, serve in your neighborhood or around the world! God has gifted each of us to do something special. Discover the joy of serving.
By Kay Brucer
Faith Kids is the name of our children’s ministry. It’s also an acrostic that accurately defines our values and supports our vision of Kids Worshiping Jesus for God’s glory:
stands for Fun Activities. means God’s Word is shared with them At their level. promotes Intentional Relationships. denotes a Trusting Environment. shows our desire for a Home Partnership.
Fun Activities are essential in Faith Kids. God created and gave us the gifts of a sense of humor and fun, and He wants us to enjoy them. We see this in our teams and the children at Faith Kids. Faith Kids is all about children learning about and worshiping Jesus At their level. From nursery through 5th grade, children worship each weekend. They sing with enthusiasm to God using motions and dance. In large group, they hear a story from the Bible and learn how they can weave that truth into daily life. Kids experience that God’s Word is for us—to know what God has done and how He would like us to live. They see prayer modeled and encouraged in a non-threatening atmosphere, and they learn memory verses or promises from God together while these truths are hopefully imprinted in their hearts and minds. Faith Kids thrives on Intentional Relationships. Each
child has a mini-church leader on a consistent basis. They relate how God has worked in their life, teach truths from the Bible and encourage children in their spiritual lives. Our teams develop a caring relationship with the children and each other as we serve. Faith Kids is a Trusting Environment. The children know there is a person besides their family members whom they can trust. Families can be rest assured that every person who wears an orange shirt has had references checked and has been background checked, processed through our elders, and trained on child safety procedures. We know that a Home Partnership fuels the faith of kids more than anything we do on the weekends. We believe that the two primary influences in a child’s spiritual development are the church (yellow) and the family (red), and by combining these two influences (orange), we will have a greater impact that either influence would ever have alone. We want to be a starting place for the family as we encourage children in their spiritual walks. Check out faithchurchkids.org for additional resources to use at home. On a daily basis, God reminds me to have a child-like faith. For example: If I’m feeling flustered, a preschool girl who says she loves God with all her heart reminds me of God’s peace. Often times we hear that a child’s experience in Faith Kids brings the family back to church. It’s a testament to the people that serve in Faith Kids. Faith Kids is a wonderful place to serve. If you love Jesus and kids, we have a place for you. God uses us in ways we would never imagine. We welcome anyone to come and see Faith Kids in action during a weekend service. Faith Kids provides an opportunity to connect with children and adults while learning about our faith in Jesus together. After all, we are all learning how to love God back!
For more information or to observe us in action, contact your Faith Kids Campus Director or Phil Krygsheld, Children’s Pastor of Faith Church, at pkrygsheld@faithchurchonline.org.

LOOK ONLINE FOR YOUR CAMPUSES SERVICE TIMES
Attention All Kids from Infant through 5th grade: Join us in Faith Kids on Easter Sunday! Check your campus communications for service times. Have you ever wondered what Faith Kids is all about? Or have you ever wanted to serve in Faith Kids, but you haven’t been able to commit to serving regularly? This Easter we are looking for additional hands to love on and help us share Jesus’ love with infants through 5th graders at all campuses. Interested? Contact us at kids@faithchurchonline.org.
WHO ARE THE DYKEMA’S? Q. What are your names? A. Tim and Laurie Dykema and our children: Emily and Timmy Q. Where are you from? A. We have lived in Lansing, Illinois for over 20 years and attend Faith Hammond. Q. How did you first get connected to Faith Church? A. In January of 2005, good friends of ours encouraged us to try Faith Dyer. We had just made the decision that it was time to move on from the church we had been attending for 20 years. From the moment we entered Faith, we knew this was where God had called us. When Hammond had its first service, we decided to go and “support” the new campus. By October, we could not deny that God was calling us to move again and be a part of the outreach at the Hammond campus.
Q. What do you enjoy about the worship services?
Q. What have you seen God do at Faith Church?
A. We feel so blessed to have such an amazing worship team and so many anointed and talented people that help lead the congregation into worship and the presence of God.
A. We have seen God draw His people into a closer relationship with Him. We have also seen how Faith Hammond has made an impact on the community and reached those who are in need both spiritually and physically.
Q. How do you connect with others at your campus? A. We have found that the best way to connect with others is by being involved in the different ministries we serve in. Also, we are part of an amazing home group and have been blessed to make some wonderful new friendships in the Lord. Tim also participates in the Men’s Saturday Bible Study - Men of Faith. Q. Where do you serve at Faith Church? A. We both serve on the coffee team, Tim serves on the security team, Laurie on the Faith Kids team, and Emily and Timmy both serve on the Faith Kids team as well.
Q. What have you seen God do in your life? A. God has shown us how faithful He is. Through loss of job, He continued to provide His direction, peace and provision. God has blessed us with amazing children. Children that once were a part of Faith Kids…. and now serve in Faith Kids. He has brought us through grief, with loss of family and trials with work. It is with His mercy and faithfulness that we joyfully meet each new day.
FOUR YEAR BIBLE READING By Andy Nearpass We are about to take a journey, a four-year journey, through the Bible as a church.
THIS IS THE CHALLENGE that we read one chapter a day, six days a week, and work our way through the Bible together. But, why? Why should I read the Bible? Let’s consider just a few reasons. I should read the Bible because it is true. All of it. The Bible is inerrant, which means the Bible is GOD’s Word, and it is without error. The GOD of the Bible (who cannot lie) has given us His Word and it must be true, because He is the Truth. I should read the Bible because, though it is a collection of 66 books written over 1500 years, it is truly one book written by GOD through human agents: 2 Peter 1:21 For prophecy never had its origin in the will of man, but men spoke from God as they were carried along by the Holy Spirit. I should read the Word of GOD because it lasts: Matthew 24:35 Heaven and earth will pass away, but my words will not pass away. The Word of GOD has the power to save the individual and to build up the church, because it is life giving: 1 Peter 1:23 since you have been born again, not of perishable seed but of imperishable, through the living and abiding word of God;
8
John 6:63 …the words that I have spoken to you are spirit and life. Acts 6:7 And the word of God continued to increase, and the number of the disciples multiplied greatly in Jerusalem, and a great many of the priests became obedient to the faith. I should read the Bible because, as James tells us, it is like a mirror showing me what I am really like. I might compare myself to others and try to look good, but when I look into the Bible, I see myself for who I am and how to get back on track to be the person I am meant to be in Christ. When I read the Bible, I find it to be effective, living, and though it cuts, it also builds up, encourages, assures, and comforts. R. C. Sproul has said, “Isn’t it amazing that almost every American has an opinion to offer about the Bible, and yet so few have really studied it.” I have found this statement to be true when talking to people, but also, it is true of me at times. I have often had an idea of what the Bible said about something, only to realize, I don’t know where it said it, and quite honestly, if it really did say what I think I remember it saying. I need to read it and hear what the Lord wants to say to me. Jesus said, “If you love Me, you will obey Me.” I want to read the Bible because I love Christ and want to obey Him. Take a Journey in and through His Word; the Lord wants to speak to each of us. Puritan writer Thomas Watson has said, “Ministers may set the food of the word before you, and carve it out to you; but it is only Christ who can cause you to taste it.” So let’s take this challenge together, and allow Christ to speak to us personally and collectively.

2015 Budget After much prayer, careful planning with ministry leaders and many meetings, the Consistory (governing board) has approved a budget of approx. $7,020,000 for 2015 to allow us to carry out our mission: reach the disconnected, grow the connected. This budget is virtually flat compared to 2014 as we prepare for what God will do in Faith Church through the Reach Project and other strategic efforts. We ask all of you to prayerfully consider your support for Faith Church this year seeking God’s leading as you give your tithes and offerings.

2015 Giving Goals by Site
Here are details for the projected expenses and giving goals by site for 2015:
Faith Church is “One Church with multiple locations.” With the launch of the Schererville Campus in 2014, we now have 7 locations. Over 1,700 people now attend a location other than our Dyer Campus on an average weekend! Multi-sites are a cost efficient way to grow because they combine support resources. In addition to providing start-up capital, the Dyer campus provides ‘back office’ type support for the multi-site locations in the following areas: Administrative, accounting, HR, IT, technical arts, facility care, and ministry planning and oversight.
Beecher: 2015 Budgeted EXPENSE: $401,000 2015 GIVING GOAL: $378,000 - 6% above 2014
Our goal is to have each site become fully funded and selfsupporting. We are making progress to achieve this goal. The multi-site expenses are broken down into two categories: Direct expenses which include staff, facility & ministry costs
Indirect expenses which include allocations determined by the number of Faith Church members at each site for the above noted back-office expenses plus Missions, Mission support shares, Benevolent causes, denominational assessments.
Cedar Lake: 2015 Budgeted EXPENSE: $501,000 2015 GIVING GOAL: $501,000 - 14% above 2014 Dyer: 2015 Budgeted EXPENSE: $4,331,000 2015 GIVING GOAL: $4,611,000 – 2% above 2014 Hammond: 2015 Budgeted EXPENSE: $591,000 2015 GIVING GOAL: $442,000 - 23% above 2014 Highland: 2015 Budgeted EXPENSE: $638,000 2015 GIVING GOAL: $646,000 - 2% above 2014 Schererville: 2015 Budgeted EXPENSE: $312,000 2015 GIVING GOAL: $312,000 (new site) Valparaiso: 2015 Budgeted EXPENSE: $245,000 2015 GIVING GOAL: $130,000 - 33% above 2014
