R E S TO R I N G A N D TRANSFORMING T H E W O R L D ONE RELATIONSHIP AT A TIME
Faith Church believes that all followers of Christ are called to a higher purpose-that as “salt and light we have been called to make a difference in the world. We should be actively engaged in building relationships inside and outside of the church-deeper relationships with God and other Faith Church members certainly, but also with co-workers, neighbors and friends outside the church community. In these relationships we display and share the transforming love of Christ Jesus.

WHAT ARE YOUR NAMES? Scott, Jen, Emma, Evan, Ava and Adele Stevens.
WHERE ARE YOU FROM? Munster.
HOW DID YOU FIRST GET CONNECTED TO FAITH CHURCH? We got connected at Faith through some friends and began attending the Wednesday night service in 2004. We became members in 2005.
WHAT HAVE YOU SEEN GOD DO AT FAITH CHURCH? We’ve seen the Lord’s glory in great ways during our time at Faith Church. It has been such a great place for people to meet Jesus and find new life in Him. Lives have been healed, marriages restored and addictions broken by His grace. We’ve also seen the multiplication of God’s kingdom through multi-site locations.
WHAT DO YOU ENJOY ABOUT THE WORSHIP SERVICES? Corporate worship is a beautiful experience for our entire family. We enjoy encountering the presence of the Lord through our worship songs as well as in the genuine humility shown by the pastors as they teach from Scripture. Also, we are thankful for Faith Kids where our children have had the opportunity to meet Jesus in ways that relate to their specific age group.
WHERE DO YOU SERVE AT FAITH CHURCH? Our family has had the opportunity to serve in a variety of ways during our time at Faith Church. Currently, Scott is an elder at our campus and part of the men’s group, Jen serves in the coffee ministry and small group leadership, and our kids have served in Faith Kids and the Faith Family Market.
HOW DO YOU CONNECT WITH OTHERS AT YOUR CAMPUS? We like to connect with people during the Sunday worship service and are able to go deeper in those relationships during our small group settings. Small groups have been a great catalyst for encountering the Lord through a more intimate community setting. It’s been very impactful to our spiritual and personal growth and we are thankful that Faith has emphasized the small group setting as a place of transformation.
WHAT HAVE YOU SEEN GOD DO IN YOUR LIFE? We’ve seen the Lord piece together the broken parts of our lives and over time, turn it into a beautiful mosaic where His light can shine and His glory can be seen even in the midst of our many imperfections. He has continued to love and heal us and help us in all areas of our lives. Ultimately, He is taking the dead things and bringing them back to life and enabling us to share that story of grace with others.
ANYTHING ELSE YOU WANT TO SHARE? We are excited to see the Lord move into our community with His grace and mercy at Faith Munster in new ways.

REACH UPDATE We are now entering the final phase of giving towards the Reach Project which began in 2014 when the people of Faith Church pledged to give $7.6 million above and beyond their normal tithes and offerings to help spark efforts to reach people near and far with the gospel. As of October, we have received more than $6 million. A number of projects have been completed over the past few years (i.e. constructing a building for Faith Cedar Lake, expanding the parking lot at Faith Beecher, redoing the Worship Center at Faith Dyer, remodeling the chapel at Campagna for Faith Kids at Faith Schererville, launching Faith Santo Domingo, new signs and a new website, and various other upgrades at Faith Highland, Faith Dyer, and Faith Beecher), but we want to highlight some of the recent work that has happened through the Reach Project. We want to reach people of all ages, so one of our needs was an improved classroom for 3-year-olds at Faith Dyer. The old room lacked a restroom, which required volunteers to constantly take the children down the hall to a restroom. Now we have a private restroom in the classroom so there are fewer interruptions and less time wasted. We also built a Family Restroom at Faith Dyer to accommodate those who have special needs for assistance in specific tasks of life. Faith Dyer installed a new sound system, as we had earlier redone the Worship Center facilities and the video system. We have a vision for relationships at Faith Church, so Faith Highland recently redid one of their rooms to serve as a Small Group Room. In addition, the Reach fund enabled us to launch a new campus in Munster, a combination of the Faith Hammond site and Trinity Reformed Church, which included remodeling and publicity. Finally, the vocational school in Brazil that we are helping to build with a ministry partner is in its last phase and should be nearing completion soon. There are still a few things on the horizon that we hope to do. Faith Highland has a space crunch so we have plans to build an addition. A number of other campuses are also growing and have space needs emerging, so the remaining funds we receive through Reach will be used to address those needs and to accommodate new avenues that God may open to reach people.
Thanks for your generosity so far. As we move to close out the Reach project, we want to finish well, encouraging those who made pledges to fulfill the pledges and inviting those who did not make pledges to help us meet our goal so that we might have resources to reach more people with the life-changing message of the gospel.
FINANCIAL UPDATE We are now in the final quarter of the year, so we want to give an update of where we stand financially after the first three quarters of the year. Overall, we continue to track ahead of last year in terms of overall giving, with our 2017 giving about 4% greater than giving in the same period in 2016. As you can see in the weekly totals in the program, this is only about 83% of our giving goal for the year. While we are behind our goal for the year, we set that goal knowing that we historically receive about 33% of our giving in the last quarter of the year, with this last quarter giving making up the gap between our giving and our expenses (which are more spread out through the year). We have been closely monitoring our expenses this year, keeping them largely in line with spending in 2017 and below our budget (we have only spent about 95% of what we budgeted over the first three quarters). A strong finish will help make up the gap between our giving and expenses and will position us to start 2018 well. God’s faithfulness has been evident year after year in providing us with the resources we need through strong end-of-the-year giving, and we trust Him to provide again this year. We want to thank you for your generosity throughout 2017, as lives are being changed through the ministry of Faith Church and our ministry partners in too many ways to name in a short update like this. Your giving makes that possible! We also want to encourage you to finish the year well, honoring God with what He has given to you in the area of finances, knowing that it all belongs to Him.

OVERCOMERS BY: ALEX CLAUSING
A
little over a year ago, Darcy Krygsheld had a vision of what is now a ministry at Faith Church known as Overcomers Ministry. Led by a team of four, the passion behind this ministry is for individuals who are in treatment of serious illnesses and their caretaker(s) to come together, receive support, pray, worship, have fun, and be in community with one another.
Overcomers Ministry meets the second and fourth Monday of each month, and also hosts several special events. For example, they celebrated their one year anniversary with a picnic and had a great turnout. Thanksgiving was also a special time of community for the Overcomers as they celebrated with a warm meal together while blessing and honoring one another. Several times throughout the year they come together for a night of praise and worship as well. Those who take part in the Overcomers Ministry come from many different backgrounds. Andy Nearpass, one of the leaders of Overcomers, explained that about half of the group’s members are from Faith Church, and half are from the community or other churches. That is what makes Overcomers Ministry unique. In fact, it is because of this ministry that several individuals have come to know Christ. When asked about a specific memory/moment that stuck out to him, Andy spoke of one individual who was struggling both physically and spiritually. The night he opened up about his struggles, the other members came together and put sticky nametags on him to represent the support system they would be to him in his walk through the remainder of his life. Some time later when this member had passed away, the group attended his funeral and each had a sticky name tag to place on his body. It is in times like this when a group of individuals becomes a family. Together, they go through moments that are good, bad, humorous, challenging, questionable, and strengthening. It is awesome to know that God has been present and faithful through each of these moments. Faith Church members are invited to pray for the Overcomers Ministry. Specifically, prayers for each member and caretaker during the times that are especially difficult in their battle against a serious illness. When an unfavorable medical report is received, or there is the loss of a group member, it is hard on everyone involved in that individual’s life. Pray for strength of the group members, leaders, and family/friends of those involved. Also pray for the ministry as a whole as it heads into its second year; pray that it continues to be a time of positive community for the leaders and members. What a special part of Faith Church the Overcomers Ministry has been and is becoming. Our God is an awesome God as He remains faithful and gracious through this ministry and every ministry that is part of Faith Church as we build one relationship at a time.

BEHOLD THE WONDER BY: RYAN MATTHYSSE - WORSHIP & ARTS DIRECTOR
F
aith Church values the arts because they afford us a range of expression and emotion. More than any other time, the Christmas season is immersed in art, lending itself to abundant sights and sounds that resonate deep and stir us from within. Thus, Behold the Wonder, a venue showcasing the beautiful truth of Christmas in unique ways and various forms, was born. Behold the Wonder serves as an outreach event across multiple platforms. It is about reaching out to the unchurched in a season when they tend to be more welcoming and soft to Jesus. (Who is that family member, co-worker or friend who needs to experience the thrill of hope afresh this year?) Also, because families come together at Christmas, Behold the Wonder is reaching out and bringing together our church family across all campuses. Our great hope is that within these doors hearts will be pliable and people will connect with God and each other. . . no matter their faith journey or their church affiliation. From the young to the old we want all to experience His profound love and grace in unprecedented ways! Behold the Wonder is our celebration of the transforming power of the Christmas story! This 90 minute family-friendly, high-energy, multisensory event features some of your favorite Faith Church musicians paired with the finest talent in NWI performing timeless classics and modern tunes. This is a musical and visual feast giving profound tribute to the only one worthy, and it is designed for all (yes, kids too!) to take pause as we near the most wonderful time of the year!
This musical Christmas production will provide a multi-sensory experience, telling the Christmas story in a unique way as we prepare for the greatest gift on earth - Jesus! Tickets are only $5 each (seating is limited).

How is your campus reaching out to the community this holiday season? Beecher Thanksgiving and Christmas Meal Baskets through the Faith Family Market Frosty Friends drive for Christmas. This is similar to Angels of Hope but the gifts come back unwrapped and then the clients (about 20 from the Beecher community and some from surrounding towns) come and “shop” (they make the selections but all clothes & toys are free) for gifts for their family. The Beecher MOPS group (along with other FC MOPS groups) have also partnered with MOPS groups in Texas that were affected by Hurricane Harvey. Beecher MOPS group has been collecting donations to provide gift cards to a Texas mom to replenish food supplies and help offset the cost of damage to her home. In addition, they will be providing gifts for her two children this Christmas. NAMES GIVE MEANING BY: ANNE CONTERAS - SMALL GROUP DIRECTOR
18
E
iffel Tower, iPhone, Home, Google, Pizza, Rain and Bible. Names--everything has a name. Names give meaning to a person, place, or thing and can elicit emotion and memories. Some names are common place and known by all; others can be insider names that create a sense of obscurity, a feeling of the unknown. Here at Faith Church we are continuing to move in the vein of Relationship - being known by God and by others. We want people to feel welcomed. Therefore we are doing our best to erase the obscure insider language that can alienate a person from being known because the name of something is unclear. If you have been around Faith Church for any number of years, you may have heard the name “Mini-Church” mentioned. What is a MiniChurch you may ask? A Mini-Church, as hinted at by its name, is a Small Group. In our effort to make things clearer, however, we are moving away from the name “Mini-Church” in order to erase what could be seen as “insider language.” We feel we should call it exactly what it is-- a “Small Group.” What hasn’t changed is what happens in a Small Group. A Small Group is a place where people support and care for one another, a place to apply God’s Word to your everyday walk with the Lord, a place for discipleship as well as a place to serve with one another or to serve each other. We don’t want people to miss this opportunity to connect in Relationship with God and each other. The only question we hope you’ll ask is “How can I connect to a Small Group?” To find out more, visit our “Find a Group” link at: WeAreFaith.org or look for Small Groups listed in this very issue! We pray you become known by “name” in a Small Group!

FAITH SANTO DOMINGO UPDATE BY: DAVID MOJICA Blessings in the sweet Name of Jesus, After two ferocious storms brewing and unleashing their fury through the Caribbean in the past 6 weeks or so, by God’s grace, Santo Domingo was virtually untouched. During this time, the bulk of our mission work in public schools came to a halt, but we have since ramped up our efforts and God is blessing our work. FC Santo Domingo distributed over 1000 Bibles in the last few days in 3 schools, as part of the celebration of the National Day of the Bible (in 1569 the first Bible in Spanish was printed). We are thrilled to report that our church planting efforts should be ready to launch in a few weeks, and that our Saturday programming (English class, dance and soccer clinics) had a target date of October 14. We have a great line-up of volunteers to spearhead this effort at this second mission site. A third and fourth school site for new planting work is already in sight to begin in early 2018. It’s exciting to note that a new crop of leaders is being trained and is stepping up in significant ways all from the harvest field. The Lord continues to add new people to our fellowship. We are also ramping up our efforts to train and unleash new small group leaders to start new home groups. Virtually everyone is involved one way or another in a small group. Five to six new disciples should be ready for baptism this month. Pastors Bob, Dave Weemhoff, Corrie Vos and I had s a video conference where where we discussed the possibility for a short mission trip this summer with folks from Faith Church. So, pray for these possibilities and opportunities where God’s name will be exalted and children and families would be impacted for eternity. If this is the case, we would have a roster of sites for real Kingdom-sized impact in Santo Domingo but also in other cities where God has given us favor to enter and start something there as well. We are thinking of Barahona (our church made a mission trip there two months ago and many came to Christ- this is three hours south of Santo Domingo) and the other possible site is Puerto Plata (three hours north and where a godly couple wants to partner with us). We believe that
a short mission trip to the D.R. from Faith Church this summer would generate great excitement and serve as a transformative experience for both the U.S. churches who will join and for the communities that will be impacted. We are on target in the power of the Spirit to plant a total of five churches by 2020. Continue to pray for us as we immerse ourselves in proclaiming the gospel boldly in different communities and enter the territory of the evil one by snatching from his grip the spiritually oppressed. We are in a spiritual warfare but are seeing the fruit of our labor--the oppressed set free and God’s abundant protection and guidance. Pray for an abundant harvest and for God to send to us campus pastors!
Grace and peace from Faith Church Santo Domingo.
