The weather couldn’t have been more perfect at the 12th Annual NPBA Golf Tournament held at The Cedars at Dungeness. Thanks to our sponsors and volunteers the event will go down in NPBA history as a great success! First Federal, as the Tournament Sponsor, made sure that the day was sunny and

Calling all cooks! Do you think you have an award-winning recipe for chili? Then plan to enter the NPBA’s Chili Cook-off on Oct. 1 at the Sequim Valley Center, 160 Harrison Road in Carlsborg behind Sears. Go to npba.info to download an entry form. The cost to enter is $25 and cash prizes will be awarded for Judges Choice - $75, People's Choice - $75 and Best Decorated Booth - $25. Full press coverage also will be provided to the winners to showcase your excellent cooking skills! To participate in the Oktoberfest by eating, drinking and being merry, RSVP to the NPBA office at 452-8160 or visit the NPBA website for a registration form. Cost is $5 for chili, beer sold individually. Note that the date and location have changed for this event due to a scheduling conflict with the Sprint Boat Races.

Energy Star Training® Built Green Clallam County has partnered with Clallam County PUD and Peninsula College to bring the following classes to you at a great price. Classes will take place on Sept. 28 at the Lincoln Center in Port Angeles. ■ Meet and Exceed the Code with NW Energy Star® Homes 8 a.m.-noon Meet and Exceed training encompasses an overview of current code and how we got there, along with how building science best practices and performance testing fit into present and future codes. This training’s main objective is to help prepare builders not only to meet the current energy code, but also to stay ahead of the code and future building trends through the Energy Star® program. ■ Build It Tight, Ventilate It Right 1-5 p.m. Build It Tight, Ventilate It Right training conveys an understanding of the importance of air barrier framing and its contribution to overall performance. Attendees will learn how to recognize how a proper air barrier strategy is established and the methods by which tight construction is achieved and tested. Attendees also will learn how to identify ventilation options and the pros and cons associated with each strategy. Backing, blocking and caulking strategies will be addressed, as well as instruction and practice with calculating ventilation requirements. Cost for one class is $25 for members, $45 for nonmembers. Cost for both classes is $45 for members, $65 for nonmembers and includes lunch from noon-1 p.m. To register, e-mail faleana@npba.info or call the office at 452-8160.

Golf Tournament ceremony, players had to choose their top five cards and then the winning hands were drawn. Mike Thomas and John Tweeter held the winning hands and walked away with prize baskets. Linda Alger from Everwarm Hearth and Home served up some delicious food grilled on the Big Green Egg at the 4th hole to tide players over until dinner was served. The NPBA also would like to thank golf chairman John Locke of First Federal and committee member Jac Osborn of by Design Group for all of their work to help make the tournament successful. Also, thanks to Trina Stern of by Design Group for all of her help preparing for the tournament as well as being on-site for the day.
