the field of science fiction illustration. The organisation of the study modules and the additional workshops and discussions provided by the MA helped me crystallise my idea.

How has the MA helped you improve your practice and what is the most important thing you learnt?

The MA Illustration: Authorial Practice allowed me to define what my future path in the world of illustration and book design would be. It helped me trust my instincts and follow my interests, exploring the subjects I consider important.

Would you recommend the course to others and, if so, why?

Beside being able to develop my professional practice, the MA is also a great place to meet people with similar interests, coming from different backgrounds.

The time spent there has been an opportunity to connect and make friends.

I also think that the MA has benefits for people following a commercial career, as the skills and experience I picked up on the MA allowed me to get a job as a graphic designer for an advertising agency in Sofia. In turn, this job allows me to support myself while further exploring and building my own artistic practice.

Now that your book has been published, what do you plan to do next?

Following the publication of Licitus I have been able to work on further projects in the field of science fiction. The latest project was to design the new Bulgarian cover for The Three Body Problem, a science fiction book by Liu Cixin that won the Hugo Award for Best Novel in 2015. I hope to continue combining my commercial work in the field alongside my own

artistic projects.
