1-2, Section 2AA finished 8th We really improved as the season progressed. One of the

goals each season is to make it to Caswell Park and we did that.

2025 SEASON OUTLOOK:

1-0, each week our biggest opponent will be ourselves. If we control the little things before they become big, we will be competitive in every game and have a solid season. We had a bunch of first time varsity players last season and they gained so much experience. This team can go as far as they are willing to work for and believe they can.

COMPETITION:

There are some traditionally strong programs in our section. I’m not focused on other teams. That will all sort itself out. We are focused on being the best we are capable of each day and we want to be there in the end.

KEY PLAYERS:

Pitcher Delaney Thompson is coming off knee surgery and missed last season. She will carry the team as our starting

pitcher this season. Keira Schipper our outstanding catcher will have a great season throwing runners out at second with her strong arm behind the plate and swings a solid bat also!

KEEP YOUR EYE ON:

The two seniors Ava Hahn and

Lacey McCabe will cover the outfield ground again with their speed and agility to run down many outs.

2025 SEASON OUTLOOK:

We plan on being at least .500 this season with hopefully a good playoff run despite the low numbers this season. Also to place in the top three of the conference is a team goal.

COMPETITION:

We feel like we match up well in the conference this season as long as we stay injury free. On the Academic side of things we are very solid with a team GPA over 3.75, so proud of these players that work just as hard in the classroom as they do on the field.

KEY PLAYERS:

Seniors: Kaedyn Judd, Miranda Krystosek. Juniors: Liza Baker, Robynn Schwichtenberg, Miley Roemhildt. Sophomores: Alix Velzke. Freshman: Paetyn Judd

KEEP YOUR EYE ON: Alix Velzke, sophomore, P,Alix gained valuable experience last year and improved every time she took the mound. She improved her consistency,

location, and off speed pitch. She also was one of our leaders offensively. I think she will take a big step forward this season and become a top player in the conference and section.

Robynn Schwichtenberg, junior, catcher - Robynn developed into our top hitter last season. She has a

great swing and is a threat to hit the gaps every time she comes to the plate. She did a great job defensively behind the plate. She does a nice job blocking and framing to help our pitchers out.

Miranda Krystosek, senior, OF – Miranda has good range in the outfield. She is an excellent bunter who can help us with our small ball game.

Kaedyn Judd, senior, 2B/ OF – Kaedyn is a good contact hitter who can help us advance runners. She also is fundamentally sound defensively and will help us improve our defense this season.

Liza Baker, junior, 3B/SS – Liza is an athletic player who will help us with her versatility. She improved offensively last season as the season progressed and she gained more experience. I

We bring back our pitcher/ catcher battery this season and we will rely on them to lead our team. Both Alix and Robynn made good gains last year throughout the season and we are excited to see their continued growth. We had a young team last season and the experience they gained should help us see positive team improvement this year. We should have a quick team that can find different ways to get on base and score runs. We hope to improve our defense and do a better job of limiting our errors. Our goals are to build on the experience we gained last season and put ourselves in a position to be competitive every game.

2025 SEASON

OUTLOOK:

This will be a huge learning year for us. We graduated 12 seniors and have very little experience coming back. Levi Wachal is our top returner and will be our No. 1 pitcher as a junior. Ryan Moelter and Alex Korir also played meaningful innings for us at the end of last year as 9th graders. We will be relying on those three to carry

2024 RECAP:

Conference Record: 9-3 (Tied for 1st)

Section: 1st Place

State: 4th Place

Comments: The 2024 season was a historic one for LSH baseball, as we made it to state for the first time in school history. Our team was led by a strong senior class—nine in

total, with five in the starting lineup—who set the tone with their leadership both on and off the field. It was an incredible group to coach, and for my first year, I couldn’t have asked for a more memorable experience.

2025 SEASON OUTLOOK:

Even though we lost several key starters and leaders from last season, I have no doubt that we can put together another successful year. We have players who have competed at the highest level and understand what it takes to win, along with guys ready to step up and embrace new roles. The talent and dedication are there—we just have to go out and prove it.

COMPETITION: This year, we’re competing in a

new conference, and I believe we have what it takes to contend for a top spot. Several teams in our conference are also in our section, and I expect those same teams to be among the best in the section. In no particular order, I’d say the top teams in the section will

be Belle Plaine, Sibley East, Lake Crystal, Maple River, and LSH.

2025 SEASON OUTLOOK:

We have a good group of seniors returning that were a big part of our success last year and a talented group of juniors that will be ready to step in and contribute. 2nd Doubles: Cameron Melnychuk, 12th grade; Max

3rd Doubles: Easton Truman, 10th grade, Graham Peterson, 12th grade

KEY PLAYERS:

Carter Borovsky had a stellar season last year, making it to the Final Four of individual sections with his doubles partner, Joe Grant. He’ll be playing 1st singles this year,

switching off to 1st doubles sometimes with our other top players. Carter’s individual regular season record last year was 11 wins and 1 loss, as was the same record for the entire doubles squad last year.

Theo Menk is our returning singles player who played 3rd singles last season, and is now playing in the 2nd singles spot. I expect great things from Theo this year. He plays with confidence and consistency and should win several matches for the team this year.

Eli Bengtson is our returning 9th grader who played 4th singles last year and is now up to the 3rd singles spot. Eli had a strong season last year finishing 10-2, and placing second in the 4th singles category at the Big 9 tournament.

KEEP YOUR EYE ON:

Niccolo Paitoni is a senior on the team this year, a 12th grader and an exchange student from Italy. He will be trading off between 1st singles and 1st doubles this year. He’s got a nice kick serve, consistent slice volleys, he’s a great poacher, and has hard, consistent groundstrokes. I’m excited to see him compete this year!

2024 RECAP:

Basically the same team that we had the previous year, because no seniors graduated. These guys worked so hard in the off season to bring their level of tennis to the next level and it really showed. Record was 3 – 7 last year, and this year we finished 8 – 2 in the Big 9 Conference, 10 – 2 overall. Our doubles guys were undefeated this season, except for Mayo. Even in our 3-4 loss to John Marshall, the doubles were still undefeated. Amazing!

At the Big 9 Tournament, 4 out of 7 positions finished either second or fourth place: First and Third Singles finished 4th place out of 12 players in their respective brackets, Second Doubles also finished 4th place out of 12 doubles groups in their bracket. 4th Singles and 3rd Doubles finished 2nd place out of 12 positions in their brackets. Our team was awarded a 3rd seed in the Section 1AA Tournament behind Mayo and Lakeville North because of our great success this season.

We had a first round Bye and home advantage lost a heartbreaker to Century 3-4.

For Individual Sections, our team avenged the loss by going far in the brackets at Lakeville South High School that day. Three out of four positions had first round Byes. First Singles and Second Doubles won their first matches and made it to the third-round quarter finals. First Doubles won both their matches that day and got the right to go to the Final Four in Rochester the next day.

Although they lost both matches, they played their best tennis going up against the elite players of Section 1AA, and won more games in those final sets than they did during the regular season against those opponents.

2025 SEASON OUTLOOK:

I want to instill the values and principles in my team that the Gustavus Tennis Team instills in their players, which are positive attitude, sportsmanship, and best effort. Instilling these values and

adopting systems and strategies to help us through tough spots in matches should help us on our journey.

We have a strong team this year, and I expect us to go far. We should finish in the top third of our conference somewhere, hopefully towards the top again.

COMPETITION:

As always, Mayo is the gatekeeper to going to State, so they will give us our best challenge. I also expect both Mankato teams, as well as John Marshall, Century, and Owatonna to give us some tough competition. Our strategy last year was to win all three doubles matches and one of the singles matches, usually 4th singles, to win the match. This year it will be a little different. I expect to have a good mix of strength in both doubles and singles.

Finished 2nd in the Big South Conference

Finished 3rd in Section 2 AA meet

Placed 6th at State 2AA meet Graduated Corbin Herron, 2 time State Champion in the hurdles now competing at the college level and doing well there.

2025 SEASON OUTLOOK:

We have a number of State participants returning with their eyes on a higher placement at the State meet, hopefully we can build a relay or 2 that can compete at that level also. We have a number of younger athletes that will have to step up and play some roles for varsity competition.

COMPETITION:

We could be in the running for the conference meet if we can get some points out of all of the events. In the Section, Mankato East always has a strong squad as well as Mankato West and

Humphrey,
Marshall. Our Section is very competitive in track as four of the teams from our Section placed in the top 15 at State.

2024 RECAP:

Second in the conference meet to Marshal, Fourth in the section 2AA meet East, West and Marshal placing in the first three spots. Very tough conference and section and I thought we finished the season

on a high note with many PRs at both the conference and section meets. We broke four outdoor and four indoor school records during the season as well.

2025 SEASON OUTLOOK:

I would like to finish in one of the top three spots in both the conference and the section. I realize that might be tough but I think we might have a bit more depth this season which could help us score a few more points in both meets.

COMPETITION:

I would think Marshal is the

conference favorite with St. Peter and Waseca close behind. East has had a lock on our sections for the past several years and I don’t see that changing this season. East is very well coached and has many outstanding athletes. That is a deadly combination that is difficult to beat. West could make a run at the section title as well but I give East the edge.

2024 RECAP:

The 2024 season had many exciting performances. Section 1AA in Track provided great opportunities for our track team. Goi Ruei finished the year running strong, as did Grant Fitterer in the 800 and 1600. Ruei graduated last year, and Fitterer is back leading our distance runners for his Jr.

year. Eric Borchardt made a huge splash coming in as an 8th grader to lead TCU sprinters.

2025 SEASON OUTLOOK:

Many individuals on the team will contribute heavily in both Field events and Running events. With the loss of seniors who contributed across events there are holes that we will need to fill. However, we return a solid group with experience. Many top-five performances were posted last year. Those athletes returning look to put their names in the TCU Record books. Goi Ruei will be considered one of the favorites to come out of Section 1AA in the 800, Rafael Balcazar and Eric Borchardt will compete for a top slot in the 400m. In field events, a couple sophomores to watch will be Corday Freeman in the throwing events and Soren McNamara in the pole vault.

COMMENTS FROM THE COACH:

As with other sports our numbers are a rollercoaster. An unusually large group of “new to track” athletes has helped our

numbers and we are hopefully starting to build a larger JH program to feed our team in the future. We have new members of the team who have not been in a varsity track meet. We have a strong core returning and have many athletes with the potential to score points. Coaches are excited to see what the Big South Conference brings. Once we are able to actually get outside, it will be fun to watch how the team progresses throughout the spring. There are many spots that opened up this year due to graduation. Our goal is to improve on our conference and section performances from last year. TCU Track and Field hopes to have success in both the Big South Conference meet, as well as the Section 1AA meet.

GOALS:

We are always looking to improve. Individual athletes will be working hard to improve their “Personal Records” and push to score points at the conference meet. There are many individuals and relays that were getting close to the school records last year as underclassmen. It is quite possible to see some of the TCU School Records fall this Spring.

Tri-City

STRENGTHS:

We are returning many athletes with experience. Experienced members of the team allows coaches to move past basic instruction to details with form and technique. Our upperclassmen will also be great mentors to the younger runners. Distance runners are returning after posting a strong Cross Country season. Depth and experience will provide a boost to our relay teams as well.

CONFERENCE OUTLOOK:

All teams in the conference have strengths in various events. We hope it to have balance throughout the events which will hopefully enable us to push for a top conference finish. Marshall, St. Peter, and Waseca look to be the favorites, but look for TCU to be competitive in our first year of the Big South Conference.

SECTION OUTLOOK: TCU will be able to compete in preliminary races at the section meet and it will now be a two-day Section Meet. We have many athletes with the ability to make it to the final races. I look for our team to have a successful Section meet, and hopefully a trip to the State Meet

The distance events will feature a strong group of athletes competing for varsity spots. Many of these Raiders were part of the state-qualifying crosscountry team last fall and are eager to carry that momentum

into the spring season. Isaac Schleif will play a key role in the mid-distance relays and the 800m, while seniors Soren Murphy-Pearson and Connor Kobes bring valuable leadership to a young group. They will compete alongside junior teammates Jason Aldorfer and Fletcher Aylin for spots in the 4x800 relay, as well as the 1600m and 3200m events. In the sprints, McCoy Weitz and Ben Flory will be important contributors. 2025 SEASON OUTLOOK:

Team goal is to finish in the top 1/3 of all the teams at every meet we are in.

Team goal to finish at a higher place at the True Team meet, Conference and Section meet then we did last year. Our coaching main goal is to help our athletes become the best version of themselves. We ask all athletes to make a goal every three weeks. We want them to try to PR every time they step on the track, either during practice or meets. We want them to be good stewards of our school.

COMPETITION:

I don’t really worry about the favorites in any of our meets, I just want my athletes to compete at their best level every time they step foot onto the track. Whatever event they are in, I am looking for them to try to PR.

We are typically one of the smaller teams in our conference and section. The events we compete in we always perform very well. Usually we place in the top four in the events we are competing in. Our problem being we can’t always fill up all events and that hurts us in the overall team scores.

KEY PLAYERS:

Owen Matejcek (11th) Owen

finished 10th in the Big South Conference and dropped his scoring average from 42 to 39 last year. He also qualified for his 1st Minnesota 2AA State tournament finishing in 46th place out of 88 golfers. Owen will be counted on as a captain and we will rely on his leadership and work ethic this year. Owen played a lot of summer golf and is hopefully

able to take another step forward this spring.

Ethan Moreau (10th) Ethan finished 15th in the Big South Conference and lowered his scoring average from 42 to 39 per 9 holes last spring. Ethan has worked on his golf all year and narrowly missed a State qualifying birth last spring. Hopefully this will be the spring where he takes that next step and reaches his goals. Ethan needs to improve his mental mindset while golfing in order to take that step. We will need Ethan to stay calm and consistent for the team this spring.

Kalvin Barfknecht (9th) Kalvin got a little bit of varsity experience which should really

help him be a big part of this year’s team. Kalvin dropped his scoring average to 42.5 last spring and we will need him to lower that by a couple strokes per 9. He will need to be consistent and stay away from the blowup holes to help this team reach its goals.

Kade Mata (8th) Kade will have some big shoes to fill this spring for the Saints. He had limited varsity experience and will hopefully be a big part of our team scores this season.

Kade had a 9 hole scoring average of 43.1 last year as a 7th grader and we are hoping he can lower that this spring. Kade plays a lot of golf and should be a mainstay on the Saints varsity team for years to come.

Isaiah Homrighausen (8th) Isaiah will hopefully make the transition to becoming a varsity golfer this spring. He works hard and played a lot of golf this summer and we will need his scores to improve

from a 2024 scoring average of 45.

Brek Wachal (9th) Brek played a few varsity meets last spring and will hopefully be a steady part of this springs varsity team He averaged a 45.1 last spring and he will need to be more consistent and steady and really work hard on staying away from the blow-up holes.

2025 SEASON OUTLOOK:

With the giants being in a new conference this year it is hard to know how we compare with the other teams. However, I am confident that both our boys and girls’ teams will be very competitive and hard to beat. We have a lot of talent on both teams and have experience which is very important in golf. We lost our number one player last year, Ayden Christ. he will be hard to replace as a player and leader on the team, but I feel our new captains will step up and take over for him. We have all the same girls returning this year and look to improve their scoring average overall as a team.

Individually I feel we have quite a few players on both sides that

can make a good run to compete at the state championship this year in Jordan. Allison Cink and JD Reinhardt have been shooting some low scores in the off season look for them to make a good run at sections in New Prague. We have 46 total players, which is the highest turnout for golf Le Sueur has ever had. The future looks bright for the GIANTS golf program.

and provide much needed competition at the varsity level. As a young team we really need to improve our decisionmaking, course management, our shot selection, and our mental mindsets while on the course. Improving and really practicing our short games will also be a difference maker as we strive for our team goals. Our key focus for this team is to develop a much better mental mindset and the ability to move on from a bad shot or a bad hole quickly. Having a positive demeanor and showing good body language is a trait that all great golfers are able to do and we NEED to improve on that and our older players will need to set a good example for our younger players. We will need to control what we can control and not focus on the things we cannot. Our goals as a team have not changed for several years. Our goals are to outwork and improve more than the other teams in our conference and section. If we can do that, we have the talent to compete for the Big South Championship

once again and compete at the Section 2AA tournament in June. If we can improve in these ways, our 2025 season could be a good one for the young Saints golf team!

COMPETITION:

The favorites in the Big South Conference include Marshall, New Ulm, and we hope to compete for the championship as well.

As far as the Section goes, Holy Family and Southwest Christian will be 2 of the best teams in the state once again. We hope to improve as the year goes on and be competitive with those 2 teams by the Section tournament.
