eality television often comes with the stigma that nothing is actually “real”. Nick Hounslow, star on E! Networks hottest new show, Hollywood Cycle, proves to us that he is the real deal. Not only is he making waves in the reality television community, but Hounslow is also a model, fitness guru, and cycle expert. Hollywood Cycle focuses on the famous Los Angeles cycling studio, Cycle House. Nick has been a part of Cycle House since day one. Cycle House is quickly expanding and building quite the cycling empire! Hounslow took some time between his constantly filled cycling classes to speak with MOST about his new show, his modeling career, and why fitness, and cycling specifically, has changed his life. Nick Hounslow started his career at the young age of seventeen when he was handpicked off

the streets of London by Kate Moss’ modeling agency. Hounslow says he was incredibly shy at the time and his mother thought the whole thing was too good to be true. However in a matter of just two months, Hounslow was flying his way to Paris Fashion Week. Thrown into the world of extravagant modeling, the pace of the fashion world took some adjusting to. Although, Hounslow says that he loves fast changes and was used to traveling because his father was in the Royal Air Force, Hounslow says the one thing that got to him was being under the constant pressure of work. For a few months, modeling the time, then having no modeling work for another few months, a change that he describes as a rough adjustment. When asked about his favorite modeling moments, Nick had quite a few that were all across the board. in one day to get the perfect shot, or even riding an elephant while modeling in underwear, Hounslow has had quite the exciting ride. Nick then moved to L.A to become one of Cycle House’s founding members, being a part of the process since day one. Hounslow says. “We did it all from wash towels to mopping the floors.” He said he knew that he would do whatever it took to make Cycle House a successful and soul-filled endeavor. Cycle House quickly became one of Los Angeles new hotspots, gaining clients from all over, including some high profile celebrities. Hounslow says that Cycle House is different from all other cycling studios because of their passion and drive. About Cycle House, Hounslow says, “It is an incredibly intense experience, but we will challenge you and inspire you to be the best that you can possibly be.” Nick says his favorite aspect about Cycle House is his clients, to which he says teach him new things each and every day. “Cycle House would be nowhere without our clients, and hearing that we made a difference in someone’s life is truly humbling”. Cycle House’s fame didn’t stay secret for long, as Cycle House became the center of the

new E! show Hollywood Cycle. Hounslow says the reaction he is receiving from viewers across the world amazes him. Many saying that he and the others on Hollywood Cycle have inspired them to make fitness an integral part of their life. Nick says after the first day he forgot the cameras were even there and he carried on with his day like normal. Nick says the person we see on Hollywood Cycle is the same Nick Hounslow when the cameras are not rolling. There are no smoke and mirrors about Nick’s true passion when it comes to fitness and cycling! Hounslow had always been a fan of sports and athletics as a child, and that passion only continued as time went on. When talking about success and failure in fitness, Nick says, “The key to success is not beating yourself up about it, but getting back up, and moving on”. Another important tip that Hounslow has is to not let the motivation for working out come from a negative place. “Exercise can be used as a form of abuse or punishment for eating something bad the day before, this is an incredibly unhealthy way to live.” Instead, Hounslow says to work out because it makes you feel good and makes you a better person. can give MOST readers is to always be aware of nutrition. Working out is obviously an important factor, but if we do not have the fuel to keep our body at one hundred percent, we cannot thrive. In the spare time that Nick does have, he enjoys doing anything creative, being outdoors, and baking. Nick says his baking is something that many don’t know about him and a trait he received from his grandmother. No matter what he is doing, Nick Hounslow is inspiring others each and every day to make fitness an important aspect in their life. With the exposure that Nick has received from Hollywood Cycle, he wants to make sure that the impact he does make is nothing but positive. In the next five years, Hounslow is unsure where his future will take him. However there is one thing he knows for sure. He wants to make an impact and help others achieve their goals, something he will most certainly continue to accomplish.

7 Quick Tips & Steps to Prep for a Competition Pick a show/show date:

Diet:

First thing, pick a show! Research the different organizations out there and pick one that suits your body type, goals and budget.

Find a diet that works for YOUR body. Learn to listen to your body and what food works well for you. To get ready for the stage, 80% will come from your diet. Say to yourself, “When I walk on that stage, I have done everything I could… no cheating or missed meals.”

Find a Coach: Find a coach that fits your beliefs and values. There are many different ways to get ready for the stage. Do your research and find someone that you align with. Then, you must trust their process!

Get a Diary and Make Schedules / To-Do Lists: Start a journal and document your training and eating. Keep a log on how you feel and if you missed a workout etc. This is a great way to look back as the weeks progress leading up to your show. Keeping a to-do list helps to ensure that you have everything booked for THE day (i.e. tan, hair and makeup, suit selection, hotel fees etc.)

Training: Train SMART! Training does not need to be 3 hours a day slaving in the gym. Nor does it mean that you should be walking out “crippled.” Life will go on and sometimes you will have to re arrange your schedule and you might miss a session… It’s not the end of the world!

The Final Touches: Posing, as with anything else, practice makes perfect. The more time you spend practicing, the better your body will present itself on stage. Choosing the right suit is very important to your overall appearance. There are certain colours that go well with a certain tan, hair colour, etc. The best thing to do is try on different styles of suits with your designer. Make sure that it is custom to YOUR body! You will spend months prepping for stage, why skimp out on the bikini that will make you pop?

Enjoy yourself: This is the most important part! At the end of the day, no one is making you do this. You are choosing to partake in this amazing journey! Take time to reflect regularly and see how far you have come! And… DON’T FORGET TO SMILE ON STAGE!

What to Expect in Her Upcoming Book “The First 30” Before the age of 30, I lived a life most people would both dream for and dread. Looking at the individual I have become today, very few people understand the hardships I have endured. Instead of shying away and being embarrassed, I shed light to inspire others to SPEAK OUT and to not be afraid of life’s journey. I had a difficult divorce (more in my book to come), suffering from a severe eating disorder, suicidal, and forced to move countries with NO job. Starting over… could I do it? Do I want to do it? MFM: As a certified hair and make-up artist, what are your top three haircare & cosmetic must-haves (and why)? KD: Coconut Oil is a huge must have for me, it is really great for your health, skin, and hair. My other two choices would be Nars creamy concealer (a little concealer can go a LONG way) and of course carry a darker nude loose shadow with me that I can use for eyebrows, eyes, lips, or a little cheek color. MFM: In the social spotlight, how does your being a Capricorn present itself (personality/temperament)? KD: Describe yourself in three words. Capricorns are definitely known for their passion and ambition, which i think really reflects me. I have worked really hard to be where I am, and I have never given up. I think I thrive in anything I put my mind to. MFM: What inspired your recent fitness addiction, and which preferred (indoor/outdoor) activities provided desired results? KD: I have always had more of an athlete body, but really starting to eat clean changed my outer and inner body. I got into fitness by trying to eat healthier, and always imagined what I would look like, at my best self. MFM: Tell us about your cheat days? What (sweet/savory) foods entice your tastebuds? KD: I am actually not a sweets person on my cheat days, I like to indulge in popcorn and pizza! MFM: If you had a private party who would the three select guests be (living/dead…not family or love interest)? KD: The Rock, Martin Luther King and Marilyn Monroe. >>>

MFM: Do you advocate for any issue? Have you witnessed or been a part of any social issues, relational or physical? How do/did you overcome/face/deal with it? KD: Over the last 3-4 years I have done a lot of advocacy for Act Against Bullying. I have experienced bullying as a younger teen, and even today. I have learned that people have things going on in their lives that others are unaware of, and always being positive can help you grow and also help you forgive. There are so many options and people you can talk to about how to get help and how to handle bullying. MFM: Beauty and brains. You have them both. Knowing you’re a social media buff, elaborate on your knowledge/ skill in Marketing and Design (schooling/mentor), and who are your style gurus? KD: I did go to school for web design and marketing, which has really helped me develop some social media skills to promote myself as a brand. I try to be one of a kind with my style, but do often pull from styles that are popular- I wouldn’t say I choose from anyone specifically. MFM: Tell MOST readers about your core values and how they have guided you in your profession/personal life? KD: Core Values for me, are making sure whatever it is you do, it will always make you happy. Rather than living just in the moment, I like to also live in the future, so that I always envision where I plan on going, and it helps me reach my goals. I also frequently ask myself “Will this help my future? Will I still support this decision in 5 years?”. People often

make choices based on impulse, whereas I like to critically think before making any decisions- it helps the final decision be the best decision for me. MFM: If you let your guard down, what are a couple of secret things you would be willing to share about multi-dimensional self? KD: I trust too quickly if I let my guard down, I often believe everyone has a better self. I also am very self conscious, which some people are very surprised to find out. I come from “thick” genes and struggled to be “thin” my whole life. It has taken a lot of self control to stay in shape. MFM: Everybody has a playlist. Who’s number one on yours? Favorite track by that artist? KD: I love jazz and soul music, and right now Sam Smith is my favorite. My favorite song would have to be “Latch”. MFM: What is this obsession with sneakers?! What set it off and what are some faves? KD: I have always really loved shoes, however when I was younger it was running shoes. As I got older I started collecting basketball shoes and other sneakers, and it grew as I became an ambassador for Reshoevn8r. There is something about a pair of good sneakers, that outweighs a good pair of heels. My all time favorite shoes are of course my 11’s, which all of my followers know.

MFM: As an MMA Ring Girl, how does it bring out your inner New Mexican-Nacho Libraness? KD: Lol. Any favorite fight?! hahaha I think everything brings out my inner New Mexicanbeing a ring girl is a really fun gig, and defiantly helps me stay in shape. I really love to watch MMA over boxing, especially coming from a town with great fighters like Jon Jones and Holly Holm’s. MFM: Can you offer any advice for those interested in pageantry/modeling, tips on enhancing auditions and applying to agencies? KD: Once you can accept who you are and be comfortable in your own skin, is when you truly love yourself. You have to love yourself before you try asking others to love you. Once you embrace everything about yourself, then others will see your sparkle, and others will believe in you. It’s about confidence, happiness and perseverance.

MFM: Realizing your dreams, in what ways have you grown the most in your accomplishments? KD: I came from a very introvert family, and I was always different and wanted to set these incredibly high goals. I definitely think that I have grown into this crazy, outgoing, funny, social butterfly. I have gained so many skills including being comfortable in my own skin all the way to public speaking at huge events. I went from a dreamer to a do-er

argret Gnarr is Icelands first IFBB Pro athlete. She became a pro competitor after winning the IFBB World Championship in 2013. Her Pro debut was at the inaugural Arnold Classic, Bikini International and there she placed 9th among the best IFBB Bikini Pro‘s in the world. Margret is also a black belt in Taekwondo and has competed several times and is a member of the Icelandic National team in Olympic Taekwondo sparring. She has been doing Taekwondo for over 10 years. MFM: What led you to a life in fitness? MG: I have always been very athletic and played sports since I was five years old. I started in gymnastics when I was five and moved to figure skating when I was about eight years old. I wanted to go to the Olympics when I turned 16, and that was my ultimate dream. However, when I was 14, I hurt my ankle and couldn’t skate for couple of months. When I got better, I went with my friend to try out Taekwondo, and I was completely hooked after one training! After many years of training and competing in Taekwondo, I felt I needed a change. I had been interested in competing in fitness for some time but never had the guts to go for it.

In 2011 I went through a very hard time in my life. I was extremely sick and had been for some time. At my worst I was 47 kg. I was hospitalized for almost 2 months and got the help I needed. After those 2 months, I was inspired to get into shape. I was so skinny and weak still. I remember going to the gym for the first time and feeling pretty insecure. I saw a lot of beautiful and athletic girls at the gym that were lifting much heavier weights than me. I could barely bench press 10 kg!! After about two weeks at the gym, I felt stronger, and I was able to lift a little bit heavier weights. It made me feel so good and boosted my self-esteem; I wanted to go further with this new passion of mine.

There was a figure competitor training in my gym named Katrín Eva, and I knew she was working out with Bikini fitness competitors. After about 3 months I talked to her about doing a show, and she offered to train me for a show in couple of months. Since then I haven‘t stopped! She was my coach for some time, but before the IFBB World Championships I started working with Johann Nordfjord who is my current coach. MFM: You been practicing martial arts for a decade. What impact has Taekwondo had in your life? MG: I could write so much about what impact Taekwondo had on my life. Taekwondo is a huge part of my life, and I practice Taekwondo every single day. Taekwondo saved me as a teenager! I was bullied a lot in school, and my self-esteem was in pieces. I remember going to my first Taekwondo training, and I felt so much respect from everybody in the class. The Dojang was my safe place, and I tried to be there as much as I could when I was a teenager. I don‘t know where I would be today if I didn‘t have Taekwondo in my life. MFM: Why Taekwondo and not, other forms of martial art? MG: I just fell in love with the sport after my first training. I also love the Olympics’ Taekwondo style.

the Olympics. That’s too much for me as I recently turned IFBB Bikini Pro, and I am now focused on competing with the IFBB. MFM: Did you ever think about opening your own school? MG: Yes I have thought about it! Maybe I will open my own school in couple of years. MFM: What is your favorite part about what you do? MG: I do so much, and I can’t pick one thing that I love the most. I love to sing; I love Taekwondo; I love the IFBB; I love my family and friends, and I love being a personal trainer! MFM: What makes competing in the IFBB so special for you? MG: Competing with the IFBB is an amazing experience each time. The IFBB is like a big family, and I have been able to meet so many great people. MFM: What are some of the biggest fitness mistakes beginners can make? MG: Putting too much pressure on themselves! Just enjoy the journey, do your best, and hope for the best. Everything else like placing well at shows is a bonus. Be your own winner each time you compete.

I had tried other forms of martial arts like Karate, Aikido, Kung-Fu and Brazilian Jiu Jitsu, but there was something about Taekwondo that captured my attention.

MFM: Quick advice on how to improve a workout? MG: Change things up. Try adding super-sets and tri-sets to your workout. Try focusing on other types of goals.

MFM: You are a member of the Icelandic National team in Olympic Taekwondo sparring. Any plans for the Brazil Olympics? MG: I‘m not a member this year, but I was a member in 2013. No, I don‘t plan on trying out for

MFM: How do you train while you’re traveling? MG: It can be a challenge, and it depends on where I am staying. Many hotels have a gym, but I usually try to find a gym nearby to where I am staying. If I have no gym to go to I just get a good workout done in my room or outside. MFM: We see on your Facebook page that you sing. Is that a career path you’d like to pursue? MG: Yes! I LOVE to sing! I was always very shy about my singing, but I decided to just go for it

ith the temperatures plummeting outside, MOST takes an inside look at a sizzling supporting actress on one of BET’s hottest dramas. Being Mary Jane, now in its third season, has been heralded as having an authentic and relatable storyline that allows viewers to connect with the characters in a meaningful way. Read on to get an inside perspective into the life of Lisa Vidal, known on Being Mary Jane as the charismatic, driven and ambitious Kara. Describing her career as “Strong, consistent, and rewarding” Lisa Vidal tells MOST, “I have consistently worked on really great projects for thirty-six years now and it has consistently been rewarding for me.” After sighting her fabulous AIDAN dress at the Latino de Hoy 2015 awards, we had to ask who Lisa goes to for style inspiration. “Jackie Kennedy was always my favorite style

setter,” she gushes, “But I also love Olivia Palermo, Jennifer Lopez, Christie Brinkley and Rosie Huntington-Whitley.” So what keeps Lisa going back to the gym during these cold winter months? “Fitting into my fabulous clothes is my fitness inspiration! I would hate not being able to fit my cute dresses and tight jeans!” We could not agree more. Lisa’s son, Scotty Cohen, is a sponsored fitness competitor, online coach and personal trainer. When asked how this has influenced her own workout regime Lisa says, “His discipline in the gym is amazing, he is at the gym every day. He takes his workout very seriously and I admire that!” Athletics have always played a prominent role in the time they spend as a family. Lisa tells MOST, “I love doing outdoor activity with my kids! We go skiing, ice skating, swimming, bike riding.” She emphasizes, “Soccer has always been a part of our lives; all three of my kids play it.” So how does the actress and mother of three stay fit between takes on set? “I’m always trying to perfect the tone of my legs and butt. Everything I eat goes there!” Looking for some inspiration at the gym? Lisa tells MOST that her go-to pump-up artists are Pitbull, Sean Paul or Rihanna and her fitness roles models are Christy Brinkley, Jennifer Anniston, and Jennifer Lopez. As snow falls outside and stores change their displays, it turns out we’re not the only ones daydreaming about afternoons on the beach. Lisa tells MOST that her dream vacation is in Hawaii. MFM: In what ways do you feel that your current acting roles combat Latina stereotypes? LV: Kara, the character I play on Being Mary Jane is an intelligent, ambitious, workaholic woman who just happens to be Latina. She could be any ethnicity and everyone would still relate to her. Kara is definitely not the typical stereotype


Latina we are used to seeing portrayed on the screen. She is complicated, layered and modern in her thinking. MFM: What advice would you give to other young actresses who are facing restrictive stereotypes today? LV: My advice to younger actresses is to be picky, make good choices about the character in as far as, if the character is stereotypical is she integral to the story? Are you going to get enough screen time to show your work? If the answer is no then it’s not worth it to subject yourself to playing yet another stereotypical role. Sometimes you have to say no. MFM: How do you relate to Kara on Being Mary Jane? What aspects of your own life do you bring to the role? LV: I relate to Kara’s ups and downs being a working mom. It’s hard to balance it all and feel like you’re doing a good job. Kara sacrifices a lot more than I’m willing to though, but I get her. I truly understand wanting to have it all! MFM: How does your fitness routine change while you’re shooting a season? LV: When I’m shooting it’s actually hard to stick to my regimen because my work hours are long and erratic. So I’m careful with my eating and I just try to fit it in wherever I can! MFM: What can we expect to see from Lisa Vidal in the next five years? What types of roles do you hope to play? LV: I hope to continue working on great shows and films and I’d like to add directing and producing to my roster. I’ve also always wanted to be in a film musical because I’m also a singer and it has always been my first love. I love to play roles that champion and fight for justice and the underdog. A few of my upcoming projects are Rosewood and the upcoming feature film Victor.

Any mother or father understands the struggles of being a full-time parent. How does anyone find the time to do anything other than being a parent, especially trying to get back into your body? MOST Fitness catches up with the busy bee Justine Switalla as she tells us more about her passions along with her family, fitness, and food. Justine Switalla shares with us what it is like to be an avid fitness lover and full-time mommy, as well as how her goals have changed, and what she plans to do next. When talking about her diet and exercise routine Justine shares, “Tuning into your body is very important” pregnant or not. With the first trimester of her pregnancy, she was unable to stomach protein and felt nauseous, like many any other pregnant woman. However, as her pregnancy progressed, Justine was able to eat a healthier diet, which gave her more energy and made her feel better about her body. Pregnancy is different for every woman and different for each pregnancy so it is important to listen to your body. Justine tells us that she was lucky to have a good pregnancy with her son, Leo, and certainly enjoyed being pregnant. Fingers-crossed that she is still as fortunate next time around! How she finds the time to work out during her pregnancy, and now after, and to work, is proof of her program! Now that her son is older and in daycare, Justine has been able to get back on top of her gym schedule and organizing

meals since she gets the luxury of working in the comfort of her own home. Lucky mom! While pregnant, Justine tells us it was an easy transition as being healthy is her lifestyle – “I believe that if you are in decent shape and healthy prepregnancy, it definitely helps you with the recovery and getting back into shape post-baby.” If you would like to know how Justine continued her workout, she tells us a little about her Fit Healthy Mums Online post-natal program that helps with abdominal separation as well as pelvic floor strength. In regards to exercise and training, Justine tells us she was not able to do much in her first trimester, but progressed once she started having more energy. She then began exercising more frequently throughout the weeks. During this time, she still had the energy to teach weight classes along with RPM (Rhythm of Powerful Music) cycling classes –What a powerful lady!

Along with working out, Justine mentions her take on organic foods and the meals that people put in their body while remaining fit. She does not always eat organic. Eating organically can be expensive. As a big believer in eating ‘everything in moderation’, Justine believes you don’t need to cut out food groups or count calories – “everyone should enjoy life and indulge in the food you like from time to time!” Many people are worried about calories consumed versus calories burned and Justine has trained herself to just, as she says it, “Eat real food and eat intuitively.” She only eats when she’s hungry and fuels her body with what it is craving. This comes with a well-balanced diet of complex carbs, good fats, lean proteins, fruits, and vegetables. Don’t be fooled though, Switalla knows how to wind down and enjoy red wine with cheese and crackers every now and then. “I live by the 80/20 rule, so Monday through Friday, I eat healthy and on the weekends, I tend to relax more! I never feel deprived of anything; that is not a way to live life!” This part-

time system works for her as it keeps her healthy and full of energy and satisfied, something we can all implement. If you are looking for a meal that is equally satisfying that provides great nutrients, check out this favorite meal of Justine’s! It’s called the Green Veggie Slice which you can find in her Fit Healthy Mums program. You can make it yourself by mixing 1 zucchini, 1 small head of broccoli, and 1 bunch of broccolini in a food processor. Then add 6 – 8 eggs, ¼ tablespoon coconut oil (melted), 2 teaspoons pesto, and ½ cup gluten free self-rising flour. Feel free to add sea salt, pepper and feta cheese for taste. Lastly, bake at 160 degrees for 30 – 40 minutes until cooked and golden. This is a super quick and easy recipe that’s also a hit with the kids! As a fairly new mother, Justine does not train people like she used to. Now she solely provides training online and her new business Fit Healthy Mums is thriving. Justine tells us, “I love that I can help women from all over the world get into shape and that I get to do it from the comfort of my home.” This allows her to spend more time with Leo, and enjoy him while he is little. Children often mimic their parents, so parents must set a good example. Justine and her husband, Matt, have created a healthy lifestyle that they hope their son will follow. Justine tells us she thinks it’s important for parents to be fit so that they’re able to keep up with their children - “It makes me sad to think that there are unhealthy parents out there who miss out on loads of fun time with their children because they can’t keep up and have no energy.” With two fit parents, imagine all the energetic adventures this family has! Justine and her husband plan to collaborate together and train other couples online and teach them to live the way they do. Already, they run seminars together. Matt helps with her online VIP clients while Justine humbly brags about how motivating her husband is. With the work ethic he has, Justine says, “it excites me when I think about what we can actually achieve together!” Although Justine’s program is exclusively online and motivating clients can be a bit harder, it does not restrict her effectiveness. She explains that

It is important to find the perfect trainer that works with you on all levels, and Justine goes above and beyond to make that connection. In Justine’s past of being a fitness model and while competing, she learned so much from all of her experiences. These days, people think they can be successful overnight, but that is simply not the case. When it comes to being fit, there is another aspect that comes with it: health. Justine reminds us to “learn to trust the process and know that every set back happens for a reason. It takes a lot of hard work and determination to be successful and it’s not always easy.” Justine herself used to over-train and under-eat until she realized her obsession was not a healthy way to live. Once she became a mother, her priorities changed. She was no longer spending hours at the gym and

obsessing over her food intake. With a balanced diet and structured training, she tells us right now is the best she’s ever felt! She explains it’s due to her being happy with herself and her body and not stressing about things that she can’t control. “I like to be honest with my followers and share my lows as well as my highs; I believe that being genuine and real about life is the best way to empower and inspire people.” Not all fitness gurus eat healthy all the time nor have a life outside of the gym. When Justine isn’t in the midst of working out, she enjoys coffee catch-up with friends, wine dates, and traveling. This mom still has a life! She loves working on her business. Justine is passionate about what she does, and says it doesn’t feel like work. She feels there is no excuse not to put in the work, and that anyone, with dedication, can get amazing results.

12 tips to help you to become a Fit and Healthy Mum 1) Set realistic goals, make sure that your goals are achievable! 2) Be kind to yourself and forgive yourself when you slip up. The quicker you can dust yourself off and move on the better! 3) Don’t compare yourself to anyone else’s journey. Be you and embrace being unique! 4) Prepare your food & be organized with your meals. Planning ahead always works well! 5) Eat an array of fruits, veggies, protein, good fats and complex carbs. Your body knows what to do with real food so cut out the processed foods and just eat real food! 6) Stop doing crash diets and looking for a quick fix, you want this to become your way of life so that the yoyo dieting stops and so you can feel fit and healthy for life! 7) Incorporate Strength training into your program, try and do 2-3 weight training sessions per week. 8) You don’t need to spend hours in the gym or out on the road doing your cardio, do some short high intensity interval training (HIIT) 64 ||

The petite Italian model is one of those fortunate souls who grew up in a fashion world full of creativity and hard work. Born and raised in Genova, Italy, Viviana is the daughter of world famous clothing designer, Sergio Soldano who has designed clothing and furs for famous actresses and top models such as Gina Lollobrigida, Elizabeth Taylor, Ursula Andress, Joan Collins, Raquel Welch, Monica Vitti, Virna Lisi ,Veruschka von Lehndorff ,Grace Jones, and many, many more. Watching her parents work as hard as they did to achieve their dreams made her realize that anything is possible if you devote yourself to your passions. Experiencing the world of high fashion modeling at a very young age, Viviana realized it was something she wanted to pursue and was able to start modeling work, traveling throughout Europe and Japan. However, at five feet four inches, Viviana realized she couldn’t necessarily do runway shows, but modeling was still an option, just a different type, geared more towards commercial, glamour, and fitness. Viviana is also always working on a lot of her own projects from her personal website, to posters, and greeting cards, and has also started selling some of her own stock photos from all around the world. Viviana is a chameleon, always offering a variety of different looks in all of her photos, including her mermaid collection. iviana eventually moved to Orange County, California and continued to pursue an acting and modeling career, but then slowly found herself getting involved in the fitness world. She got her personal training license and started working as a personal trainer/ nutritionist and continued modeling as a part time job. One day she went to see a bodybuilding contest where one of her friends was competing, and from the second she stepped on stage Viviana knew it was something she had to try as well! Starting in 2002 she competed four times, and earned her way up to the National level in Figure by 2005. Unfortunately, she had to quit competing then because she did not have her USA citizenship at that time, and could not compete in a National show. It was very upsetting for Viviana as she had worked so hard to get to that level. However, in 2012 she started competing again, but this time tried a division called Physique in which she had to be a little more muscular than Figure. Fortunately, on her very first show which was NPC Los Angeles July 2012, Viviana was able to earn back her National position again by placing 3rd, and since she had her citizenship was able to go to her first National show in Las Vegas! She then went on to do her second biggest National show in Atlanta, GA in November 2012. In 2013, she competed for the first time for a new federation, WBFF on July 20th, in Sacramento, California. She entered 4 classes and placed top 5 in all of them. After that,

Viviana got really busy with more modeling gigs and working on some TV projects, so decided she would take a break from competing and maybe come back on the WBFF stage in the future. In 2014, with her husband as a partner, Viviana started her own dog foundation, Amore For Dogs, as she has always had a passion for dogs and animals, and desired to help other dogs in need. Their purpose is to raise money for dogs around the world and Viviana figured out a genius

For the 2015-2016 year they made their first 16-month calendar, featuring their dogs and some of the other dogs they have rescued and sponsored. With Viviana’s caring nature and ability to turn any idea into gold, it’s no surprise that she has already made her foundation a success and MOST Fitness Magazine is excited to feature her as our cover this issue and learn about all things Viviana!

MFM: Have you ever desired to work in the world of fashion design or design something yourself, taking after your father? VSF: Yes off course I have. Growing up in the fashion world is all I knew by the age of 14; I even went to a school of fashion design, thinking that it was the right thing to do, but it just wasn’t my passion. My dream was to be a professional dancer and to model, as those were my passions, but now it’s kind of funny because a lot of the dresses

and jewelry I wear, I actually design myself and have someone else make them for me! I do love it, and I am even thinking of making my own pet wear line one day for my foundation, Amore For Dogs. MFM: Your father Sergio Soldano was a world famous clothing and fur designer, how did his success impact your life and your own success in business today? VSF: Growing up in his world of fashion and being surrounded by beautiful famous people all the time made me want to become one of them. I wanted to model and started doing so at a very young age, traveling all over Europe and living a pretty glamorous lifestyle. When my parents divorced, I decided to move to the USA with my mother and still wanted to turn my dreams more into reality. My father taught me by showing me that you can live your dream and passion and be happy forever, because that is how he was, he lived his life for his work; he loved his work

so much, even if it was HARD work, LONG hours, and HUGE sacrifices, he was still living his dream. Because of that, he was the happiest man in the world! I think it is not so much about how successful you become, but it is how happy you are at the end of the day, and how much you are happy with yourself and what you have done, knowing you have given 100%. My father will always be my inspiration, and he will always give me the strength I need. MFM: How would you describe your personal style? VSF: I feel our clothes can express our character; I have a very relaxed, comfortable personal style, but then also a very feminine sexy/elegant style; it all really depends on the occasion. I like to wear nice workouts clothes most of the time during the day and when I am running errands, but when I have a special occasion or event to go to I like to look like a movie star at the Academy Awards.

MFM: What is your favorite exercise? VSF: SMILING!!! :) No I am kidding, I do have a favorite exercise- I love running outside; for me it’s like therapy, and it relaxes me. When I am at the gym doing weight training, I love to work on my back, feeling those big, strong muscles working hard. MFM: What do you do for fun/ relaxing? VSF: I love to get professional massages; I get one once a week, and I also swim in my pool, which is very

relaxing for me. For fun I love to spend time with my dogs. We have 5 dogs, so I take them to the beach and play, and we always have a blast. Our dogs range from size large to size extra small, but they all get along just fine so it’s really easy to take them anywhere; it is so much fun. I am a total dog lover. MFM: Describe what you eat on a typical day to keep a gorgeous physique. VSF: Eating has always been a challenge to me, because of the hard and crazy diets I had to do during pre- contests. It took me a while to learn how to eat properly and healthy off contests. For the past 8 months, I have been working with a nutritionist and personal chef Tina Richards, owner of Fit to Go by Tina. She has me eating every 3 hours, and my meals mainly consist of proteins and greens with a variety of choices, but all low sugar. It’s always changing. I eat all low sugar fruits by 2 pm, and protein load for muscles 30 minutes after my workout. MFM: Describe the most interesting photo shoot you ever did for Simple Green? VSF: When we shot for the TV commercial- it was a 3 day shoot, and I got to work with both my mom and my husband. It was a long, fun, shoot. I had to clean, clean, and CLEAN all day

long for 3 days, do the laundry, wash the dishes, and all while smiling and looking good. It was a lot of fun, and a lot different than a fitness or fashion shoot! MFM: What is like working next to your husband, Bruce FaBrizio-President/Founder & CEO of Simple Green? Do you work well together? VSF: Yes, we are like two kids when we are together! We have a lot of fun; we travel to a lot of the biggest industrial shows around the world, with all his top guys and stay in some of the best hotels, go to some of the best restaurants, and travel on a private jet. I usually work with them, and it’s a lot of fun for me since I have a lot of background in trade show and promotional modeling.

MFM: How did it feel the first time you finally got to do a National Show in Las Vegas and after in Atlanta, GA? VSF: It was GREAT, an amazing feeling to be on stage at the two biggest national shows of the year, looking good and surrounded by the top contestants from all around the country. I felt like a winner right there, and there was no competition for me. After all the hard work and finally being there all I wanted to do was smile and enjoy the moment, and that is all I cared about. It was a beautiful achievement that I was able to accomplish in my life and in the world of fitness.


to 5 times a week. I would also like to add another one, which is very important to me, and that is to learn to relax and spend at least one hour a day in contact with nature. You could take a walk to the beach or a park and just enjoy the nature around you- the sun, the wind, the rain, and talk to God while doing so. It is good for your spirit and soul. MFM: How does it feel during a fitness competition when you are on stage? Do you get nervous? VSF: I usually get nervous while I am waiting to go up on stage, but once I am on the stage I feel fine. I love to be on stage and entertain, so for me it is just another photo shoot or a dance; as long as I look good and feel good, I am ok. MFM: When was the last time you visited Italy? VSF: My family and I go to Italy at least once a year. We just got back this past September from visiting Portofino and then we traveled down the Amalfi coast. I also always do a photo shoot everywhere I go with photographer George Kontaxis, who always travels with us. Last year we visited the island of Sicily and Malta, and the year before we visited Sardinia and Corsica, all on a private yacht for two weeks, both amazing trips.

MFM: As a personal trainer, what nutrition deficiency do you find most common in your clients? VSF: Iron is a big problem- lots of people have an iron deficiency and don’t even know it. They feel tired and fatigued and don’t realize that is the cause. Many people just become vegetarian and cut out meat, but don’t know how to replace the iron with other foods. MFM: What are your 3 best suggestions to stay healthy? VSF: Drink lots of water, sleep at least 8 hours every night, and do some intense cardio exercise 4

MFM: You have a foundation called “Amore For Dogs” who was your first dog, and how did you get a passion for helping these animals? VSF: Yes, I started Amore for Dogs with my husband about two years ago. I have always loved dogs; I had a Bichon Frise for 14 years, and she was my baby, the love of my life, and her name was Amore. She was with me every day and night, traveled everywhere, and was always there for me. After she passed, I missed her terribly, and my life changed without her. I met my husband while he had 4 dogs, so with my Amore we had a total of 5 dogs. Once she was gone, I started rescuing dogs, and it was like she was guiding me and telling me what to do from Heaven, so I decided to start this foundation and try to save as many dogs as I could. I raise as much money as I can and donate it to shelters and rescues around the world, and I named the foundation after her, AMORE FOR DOGS, which means “love for dogs” in Italian.

Every time I save a dog I feel like Amore brought me to her to rescue, like she knows I can handle it, and save this poor animal. It is a wonderful feeling to be able to do that, so I combined my modeling passion with my passion for dogs and assorted photo projects such as Amore for dogs 2015-2016 calendar to be marketed for fundraising. MFM: If you could book any acting or modelling gig right now, what would you love to do? VSF: I have always wanted to be in a comedy movie; I love to make people laugh! Or I would love to be a host for a reality TV travel show or a dog show. MFM: Tell MOST Fitness what we can expect to see from you in the next couple of years. Future projects/plans? VSF: I always have so many ideas and projects running in my head. I am currently working on

doing more shows and bringing in more money in for my dog foundation, and I am also working on publishing a new greeting card collection for Amore For Dogs. I also got offered a few small parts in a few movies. “A picture is a story. Or at least it should be.”

Trinity’s father was traveling musician. He tried to make it big and had played with a few names people may recognize, but never hitting the “big time” like every talent dreams of. He is still chasing that neon rainbow. On the other hand, his mom was the glue that held the family together.There were times when Trinity, the oldest child, filled in the gaps for his parents. So when he needed to escape reality, it was through comic books. Ironically, what started as a parental-last-ditch-effort to get him to read (which worked), became a lifelong love affair with pictures. Each frame told a story—a micro version of what was happening in the larger plot, and all the pictures together told a larger story. In the 1980s, Trinity was in love with the stories themselves. But by the 1990s, he began following certain artists with certain styles, appreciating their nuances of how different techniques were used to tell the stories.

After graduating high school, Trinity floundered for purpose. Opting for family tradition (that skipped a traveling musician generation), he decided to join the Navy. Inspired by comics, he trained in Search and Rescue. The images in his mind included heroically jumping from helicopters to rescue someone. Perhaps a damsel in distress? No, too sexist; a family—to rescue a family stranded at sea! However, the Navy had other ideas and posted him to a nuclear control command where, never once, did he get to jump out of anything. It was there during training, where he met his wife, also an active duty sailor, and began their own family that needed more mundane rescues. After five years, the Greers decided military family life wasn’t working. Using his G.I. Bill and working his way through school, Trinity earned a bachelor’s in film and animation from the Rochester Institute of Technology. A job offer with a trendy

production company in San Antonio, Texas, motivated a post-college move. Although his employer changed a few times over the years, Trinity was always seeking to grow creatively. He made a few short films and even won an award at a film festival for one of them. Also having worked on some interesting documentary films, Trinity’s creative focus had shifted from drawing comic book panels to recreating them in photography. Now, when Trinity Greer gets behind the camera, he captures the dynamic movement seen in comic frames. His desire to capture everything is such that, “no speech bubble is necessary; or maybe the observer is left wishing there was a speech bubble because they deeply want to know the thoughts of the subject made mysterious. MFM: Your father is musician. Do you play any instruments yourself? TG: Actually no, both my wife and two children play instruments and sing, however I do not. I have always been more visually oriented. I want to take what I see and reimagine it, repurpose it, because I am an editor and animator, both by trade and training, so I have a sense of timing and visual rhythm. Yet, having grown up in a musical family has taught my ear to hear good versus bad sounds; but sadly, music is not my art form. MFM: You have always been fascinated with comic books. How do you translate the vision into your images? TG: I think about how I can work with a model of extreme ability, like a Parkour, or CrossFit athlete, and also about how I can create an interesting sense of the character through the environment. Mostly the influence is about moving my camera around and collecting as many angles as possible to tell a dynamic story. MFM: Who is your favorite comic book hero? TG: That is a difficult one to answer. I was always

more interested in the stories told and the art of the books. The Batman, Spiderman, and X-Men, were my mainstream favorites. However, I was more into alternative comics: the Sandman (written by Neil Gaiman), the Crow, and a couple of miniseries such as: “The Master,” that is about a samurai done in an ink wash style and “Meltdown,” a Havoc and Wolverine miniseries which was done in a messy watercolor style. It was like reading and looking at a Cohen brother’s film MFM Do you have any desire to make more short films, or do you plan to stick to photography? TG: I am too committed to multimedia to give any of it up. With both film and photography, images are images, and stories are told in motion and stillness. I am in the middle of a documentary about boxing: “What happened to Tyrell Biggs.” It shows the world of sports—the post champion years—all centered around the 1984 United States Olympic Boxing Team member, Biggs. He is the only super heavyweight gold medalist in the history of boxing, and he is sweeping floors at a community center in Philly. That place has a boxing >>>

club that is building the next generations of boxing champions, and they didn’t really know who he was. We have been in production for a couple of years, and now we are in the editing stage. We hope to be in festivals by the end of the year.. MFM: What did you learn the most out of your military career in respect to advancing your photography? TG: The military taught me to be disciplined, work hard, show respect, and it will take you places. It also taught me that adaptability is a crucial skill and requires a flexible mindset. Strange as that sounds about the military, one must understand the rules and know how to work both inside and outside of that system. Plus, I often worked on nuclear command and control systems as an avionics tech, deployed in the field away from support. Responsible for all the equipment on board that aircraft, we had an officer that answered directly to the President demanding a fix for

any given problem. It taught me how to handle pressure and strong personalities. MFM: Did your military background lead you to specializing in fitness photography? TG: I have only focused on that area in the last five years. Skateboarding as a kid and reading skate magazines have a lot to do with my understanding of extreme sports athletes. Military fitness experience at the Naval Aircrew School taught me about getting through to the finish. But really working with the Alpha Warrior obstacle course and some of the great athletes from Tempest Free Running Academy (Brent Steffensen, Brian Orosco, Evan Dallard, and Kacy Catanzaro) really peaked my interest again in fitness. MFM: What skills are important for a successful career in fitness/sports photography? TG: You need to understand your subjects and

their sports and the knowledge of what to capture and when to capture the movement.

challenging at that time. It would not have been possible without the support of my awesome wife.

MFM: What are your favorite camera/lens combinations? TG: I prefer the 16-35 mm and a full-frame camera, or the 24-70 mm for coverage. This is a go-to lens for action shooting.

MFM: Your editorial sets tell stories. Do you plan them in advance or do they come naturally to you on the set? TG: I always come to the set/location with research (know my subject, location, story) and a plan. However, sometimes I have to reassess that plan per the various changing details or location of the event. I can fall back on the research. Some compositions I have thumb nailed; therefore, I still have the basic components of the story, and the details just provide the seasoning. I am always willing to let the day go where it takes me once >>>

MFM: What was the most memorable challenge while attending the Rochester Institute of Technology? TG: Both the cold weather and going to college as a husband and working father of two were

I’ve captured the main thumbnails I have planned. That way I have what I need. Then I can relax and let serendipity takeover. But the truth is, when you are working for a client and dealing with real talent, you don’t have time to find the story on set. Your subjects normally have too much to do in a day. You shoot the plan, remaining open to serendipity, but you can’t rely on it. MFM: Describe a typical day on the set of one of your shoots? If you had to choose, what has been your favorite shoot to date? TG: I arrive with my gear, assign tasks to an assistant or crew (if I have them), and then will walk the location to understand the light and space, reviewing my notes. I consult with my Helios app to understand the positioning of the sun. Once my talent arrives, I start chatting with them and then layout what I would like to accomplish for the day. Listening to their feedback, I modify if I am pushing their limits. Letting them prep, I will start to lock in my light prep for the first setup. Then I will test the shot movement myself so I can understand

the physical demands of the movements or holds. I never want my athletes or models to feeling endangered. They know their bodies, and they will push themselves without me forcing them into a bad situation. With some big names they have pushed too far. You can’t allow them to get hurt, especially if they are in their on-season. I keep in mind that they will tire before me, so I will push to “get the shot,” but I do my best to build recovery time in between setups. MFM: You said that you always dreamed of rescuing someone and being like your comic book characters, yet your time with the Navy didn’t work out like that. Have you found in some way that you still have “rescued” someone in a different context or have gotten that same thrill and satisfaction in another way? TG: I mentor a lot. I work with folks who are interested in creative careers and hence, I will invest in them. That is probably as worthy an exercise, and it doesn’t require anything bad to happen.

MFM: How do you stay in shape yourself? Favorite exercises? TG: I let myself go pretty badly when I was mostly an editor, sitting in a chair 8-16 hours a day. My diet was terrible; I never darkened a gym’s doorstep. That changed when I started working around the fitness professionals. I was working on a “Biggest Loser” Run-Walk program when Dan Evans, a Biggest Loser contestant, got me back into running. Then I worked for Alpha Warrior with Brent Steffensen who taught me some killer body weight workouts. I met Shelby Jones as he modeled on a shoot, and he introduced me to CrossFit. Shelby’s local gym, Jones N 4 CrossFit, has opened a whole new world to me. Weightlifting, gymnastics, and metcon (aerobic, metabolic conditioning) were never boring workouts. I try to hit the gym six times a week around my shooting schedule. I lost 30 pounds of fat and replaced the difference with muscle, and I went from a 46” waist to a 31”. Now I am starting to compete in Highland games and Olympic lift completions. My favorite exercises include: Kipping Muscle-Ups, Deadlift, Snatches, overhead squats, and handstand pushups-all things I could not do two years ago!

MFM: Can you give MOST Fitness Magazine readers your best tip(s) for continuing to grow creatively? TG: Remain curious and read widely. Don’t doubt your experience, but never stop learning from people. They might show you a nuance that will change your understanding. Look for ways to remain a student while you build your mastery. Teach or mentor. I often learn as much teaching and vocalizing my process as I do from doing my process. MFM: What are your plans for the future? TG: I plan to keep shooting fitness and growing the scope of my work. I am always experimenting. Also, I hope to do more motion projects. After “What Happened to Tyrell Biggs” is finished, I hope to work on another film. I have a bunch of irons in the fire. MFM: How can MOST readers find you on social media? My name is Claudia Virgil, I am currently 28 years old and live in Phoenix, AZ with my loving Husband, Jake and our two Red nose pit bulls,Titus & Tatum. Background Growing up all through my high school years I never had any weight issues. I lived life without any concern of my physical appearance. It was not until I reached my sophomore year in high school, which my weight started to creep up on me. Over the course of about two years I gained about ten pounds. I started to become selfconscious of my looks. My clothes were not fitting as they were intended to. I knew I needed to shed some body fat but I had no idea how to go about it. Naturally, like most high-school girls, my first thought was to reduce my daily caloric intake. Little did I know, I was about to embark on a downward spiral of various eating disorders for the next five years. I was jumping around from fast weight-loss remedies to low-carb diets, extreme cleanses, food restricting, binging, and purging. From this I developed anxiety, depression, anger, jealousy and self-hatred. I hated who I became. I thought that I would forever live life in a constant battle with my weight. I felt like there was no escape, but I knew that I needed to change my life. I was not sure how or if it was even possible.

Journey to a fit and healthy lifestyle Countless diets and years of starving myself, it was time to put an end to that vicious cycle. I made a promise to myself on July 14, 2010 that I would do anything possible to overcome my old habits. I knew it was not going to be an easy path, I knew there would be a lot of slip-ups. I had a hard time trusting myself that I would make this change but I knew how badly I wanted it and how hard I would have to strive to stick to it! My main focus was to work on my relationship with food and begin eating properly, regularly and more often. I also knew I needed to begin a workout regimen that would keep me consistent. I asked my husband (boyfriend at the time), to show me how to properly lift weights. After two weeks of showing me the ropes, I decided to do my own research and put together my own workout plans. Now five years later of consistent training and proper nutrition, I have become a completely new person.


Accomplishments After my second year of training I decided to take on the challenge of competing in my first NPC Body Building Competition. Taking home the 1st place trophy motivated me to continue and enter three more shows placing 1st, 2nd and 5th. After all I had been through and overcome, I felt the urge to help others volunteering as a Health Coach for “The Daniel Plan: 40 Days to a Healthier Life”. My employer asked me to be the Regional Health Lead for The American Cancer Society Active for Life Program. Overseeing a 10 week health challenge for 600 co-workers encouraging them to live an active life and make healthy food choices. One of my biggest accomplishments in 2015 was starting my own business as a Personal & Online Trainer. Along my journey I have had many accomplishments and have overcome many obstacles. The greatest joy now is being able to help others through their journey and experiencing the change with them! The feeling I get by helping my clients transform their lives, become stronger and gain confidence is unexplainable. I feel honored that they chose me to be a part of their journey! I want to be able to reach out to as many individuals as possible and make an impact in their life!

MFM: How did you get started in the fitness field? CV: I wanted to feel confident in my own skin and not feel anxiety from fear of food. I wanted to find hope for a happier life. My past relationship with food had me on a roller-coaster ride with my weight. Years of jumping from fast weight-loss remedies to low-carb diets, extreme cleanses, food restricting, binging, and purging. I had developed anxiety, depression, anger, jealousy and self-hatred. I hated who I became. I began to make healthier food choices and exercise daily. Doing so was not an easy task but I trusted that if I stuck to it that I would see a brighter outcome. After a few months of weight training I began to notice a change in my physique and so did others! This was the spark that lead to more motivation. Fast forward almost six years later of consistent training along with proper nutrition and I have become a completely new person. Along my journey I have inspired many family members and friends. My transformation was living proof that change can happen. I began to receive messages Via FB from women that wanted my help. Over time, my leisure time was consumed in helping others with their fitness/ nutrition needs/goals. Having a full-time job in the corporate world limited my time to helping others. That is when I decided to leave my full-time corporate job and start my own personal training business. MFM: What motivated you to get into competitions? CV: After my second year of weight training I wanted to set a goal that would challenge me to a higher level. I actually had no knowledge of competing. Other peers at the gym would ask if I was prepping for a competition. I went home and Googled competitions. I found a local show which I attended. I figured this would help give me better insight on what it is all about. After sitting though the show, I was inspired to compete. I was nervous to make the commitment because I still doubted myself. Never in my LIFE did I ever think I would feel confident in a swimsuit, let alone on stage in front of an audience. Competing was one of the best decisions I have made. I learned more about myself in the 12 week prep than ever! My advice to anyone thinking about competing, do not do it to “get in the best shape of your life”. Sustaining a prep diet and physique is not realistic. Compete because you want to challenge yourself mentally.

MFM: What is your philosophy on Nutrition? CV: I believe nutrition comes first. Without proper nutrition your body does not function properly. Making smart food choices, you can help protect yourself from numerous health problems. It’s the cure to many diseases. I also believe that this is key to achieving your fitness goals. Proper nutrition gives you the fuel you need to perform better in your sport. You can spend countless hours in the gym but if your nutrition is not fine-tuned, the results will not show. If you’re looking for a tone physique or abs you answer is found in eat clean and tracking your macronutrient intake! MFM: What is your number one tip for healthy eating? Be creative with your meals. Eating healthy should never be dull or bland. People fall off track because


they feel that eating healthy is not as appetizing or that it gets repetitive. There is almost always a way to turn something unhealthy into something healthy. My Instagram is full of ideas on being creative with your food. Craving tacos, burgers, fries or maybe dessert? Check out my page! I provide recipes on how to fulfill these cravings without the guilt! MFM: What do you consider your greatest achievement so far? CV: This is tough to pick one, as I have had many great achievements. I would say starting my own personal training business. Ultimately, my business is a reflection of all my past achievements. It is very fulfilling knowing I can now spend full-time helping others along their journey to becoming fit and healthy. MFM: Holidays are around corner, what is the best way to avoid gaining weight around this time? CV: Plan your workouts! It is easy to get buried in the

endless Holiday tasks. If possible, plan your workout in the morning, before your busy day begins. Also, I like to pre-plan what I will and will not indulge in. I love sweets so for me indulging in savory food is not as tempting. I usually resort to eating the leanest part of the meat and supplement this with some roasted vegetables. If I’m not sure what will be cooked at the party, I usually bring a healthy dish to fall back on. Also, I be sure to drink plenty of water. Many times thirst can feel like hunger. I save my indulgence for desserts. I usually pick one (or two desserts) that I want. I think it’s good to satisfy your cravings in moderation. Otherwise, you may find yourself caving and binging on these foods. Some ways to distract your mind from food is to encourage your family to go outside and enjoy the fall weather or plan a family trivia/ Pictionary game around the fireplace. One of my favorite is Taboo. Anything that will help eliminate majority of your time spent around the table and your mind occupied on other things!

MFM: Describe a typical day for you. What type of exercises do you include in your daily routine to stay in shape? CV: I like to start my day with my workout. This helps me feel more energized throughout my day. Plus, it give me a sense of accomplishment before the long list of tasks begin! My late mornings/ early afternoons consist of working on my online training programs and my evenings are usually spent at the gym training my clients. I am a firm believer in weight training. Ultimately, this is what keeps me in shape (along with proper nutrition). I plan my week with a split schedule to target each of my muscle groups. Majority of my exercises consist of super-sets. I don’t like to rest too long between sets. This gives me a better pump and I feel that I can really exhaust my muscles this way. I usually couple this with the stair master or any high intensity movements like plyometric or intervals (HIIT). Doing so challenges my body and keeps it guessing, otherwise I hit a plateau. I like to track my distance and time completed, this way I know what record time I need to beat. MFM: What are your top 3 favorite exercises and why? CV: This is tough. If I had to pick, I would stick with compound movements. These create the greatest change in body composition, because more muscle groups are recruited and used per exercise. These three favorite exercises target every major muscle group. 1) Barbell (back) squats – This works all the major muscles including your glutes, quads, and calves. It also helps strengthen your core and back, since these muscles require to stabilize the bar. 2) Barbell walking lunges – This is a high intensity exercise that also works all your lower-body muscles, abs, and back. It is a great addition to a leg workout as they help increase stability and balance. Lunges are a staple for both of my weekly leg days. Your stance in this exercise will determine what muscles are used. The longer the step, the more the hamstrings and glutes will be used, and the shorter the step, the more quads will be used. 3) Barbell bench press – This works all the major muscles in your chest including your shoulders and arms. This was my secret to increasing my rounded shoulder caps! 96 ||

MFM: Do you have a supporting team that helps you stay focused? If yes, who are they? CV: Yes, I do. When I first began my journey it was a rough road. I very quickly learned who my true friends were. Many people envy you for your success and do not understand the fit journey. I had to surround myself with people who supported me and had some of the same goals. My Husband is my greatest supporter. He has supported me through all my struggles- from the time when I was battling my eating disorder to my fit and healthy transformation. My family is another big supporter. They have continued to show me love and support in ways I cannot thank God enough! I am also grateful for the support I receive from those that I have inspired along my journey, they are some of my biggest motivators! MFM: Your Nutrition Philosophy: SS: My nutrition philosophy has been the same for years now-to eat protein packed food. I eat 3 meals a day and snack on almonds, apples, and I love yogurt. MFM: Your body secret: SS: I take care of my body, mind, and soul so I can be here for my kids and husband for as long as I can help it.


MFM: Do you workout with a trainer? What are some of your favorite routines? SS: I don’t workout with a trainer. I feel like when I workout, it’s my time. I just focus on the muscle groups and tune everyone else out. It’s definitely great therapy for me. MFM: Best advice anyone has given you so far in fitness training: SS: I would have to say the best advice I have been

given is that it is all about deposits, and withdrawals in life. If I eat a piece of cake that was 700 calories that day, then I better get ready to do a lot of cardio. It really helps me on a daily basis. My girlfriend Lori Harder gave me that great piece of advice. MFM: How should you eat and work out to shred? SS: How I eat and workout to shred is to incorporate cardio sessions. My diet remains the same. I really enjoy eating clean; I’m happier because I control my sugar levels, and my skin looks good. I don’t drink alcohol as well unless it’s my anniversary.

MFM: Your healthy cheat? SS: My healthy cheat is definitely sushi. MFM: Name 5 things keep you motivated and focused in your training. SS: Five things that keep me motivated and focused on my training are: feeling great, aging gracefully, my husband and kids, looking as good as I can in my clothes, and my love for working out. MFM: How many days of the week do you train and what is your training routine Monday - Friday like? SS: I train every other day in the gym. Days when I don’t go to the gym I walk my dogs or ride my bike; I love to be outside! MFM: What are some of your fitness goals for the future? SS: Lengthen my muscles and work on my flexibility.

y parents paved the road for me on which I traveled, but now I am shaping my own path to greatness. I am a hairstylist with a unique attention to detail, giving my clients the perfect look for any situation. Just like in my work, in the gym I train rigorously and with equal passion and dedication, paying attention to every aspect of the body’s aesthetic to reflect the beauty that I see in life. As a child I was imbued with my Spartan heritage from my Greek grandparents. It came with a rich culture, tradition, and history-all things that I continue to relate to. My father inspired me with his motivation and pride to honor our Greek ancestry through his own tremendous successes with body-building and modeling. When I look in the mirror, I am proud to have Norwegian blood pumping through my veins from my mother as well. I have a duty to honor my heritage, which has survived through countless wars and other adversity to finally make it to me today. This drives my unstoppable motivation to achieve greatness in any challenge that lies before me. Ever since I came out of the womb (with a six pack too of course), I was baptized into the dominion of aesthetics. When I look back at old family photos there is not one picture where I am not striking some kind of pose. My father had made it his life mission to influence me in the world of body building, aesthetics, and anything to do with alpha testosterone male attributes. He embedded this way of life so deep into my subconscious that he would joke around and even tell me that he selected my mother

as a suitable mate because she had excellent lower body muscle genetics and she was of Viking/Scandinavian decent (another alpha warrior culture). He was lacking in that department so he wanted to, and I quote “genetically engineer” an offspring, and she was worthy of his “seed.” Surprisingly enough, he never had to “per say” ever push me into my men’s physique competitions, but he was always supportive of whatever decision I made. But you see it was so ingrained in my DNA, that I didn’t need any more motivation than what I had already convinced myself I was destined to become. He always said despite what you want to believe in this world there is the way things should be and then just the way things are; unfortunately we live in a very shallow and narrow minded world where aesthetics rules almost every facet of our lives, even if we don’t realize it. We are compelled to desire beauty in any form. I think he was on to something. My first show was The Cutler in 2013. I was so inexperienced despite having my father (a champion in his day at body building) by my side. This is because he wanted to see how bad I truly wanted it and pretty much just let me do everything on my own, kind of like throwing me in the water and learning how to swim. I was so nervous and so concerned that I wasn’t going to be prepared enough, so it ultimately led me to commit my biggest mistake which was also my greatest learning experience. I over did it with both cutting the calories and doing too much cardio. I was so concerned about being razor sharp and so lean that I ended up just looking like a well-defined skeleton. I placed dead last. Being

discouraged, I wiped my tears feeling like I had failed my namesake and the honor of my father. However, when talking to my father after the show with tears in my eyes and a heart full of sorrow he told me one of the greatest lessons I needed to hear, and it stuck with me till this day. He said, “son, in life, when you have bad experiences, you should be extremely grateful instead of discouraged, because from pain arises growth, and you cannot grow without immense pain.” He also said, “Don’t say you’re having a bad day, say you’re having a character building day!” So after feeling lost, in the dark, and defeated, I arose from the ashes once again, but even better and stronger. A year later I placed top five in the Maryland State and top five in the East Coast Classic. Not a victory, but not a defeat, but still not where I wanted to be. I was at least making some forward progress and realized that I wanted to continue training and competing despite being more interested in a modeling career at the time. So after another long hard year of excruciating, grueling training (this time my dad was training me because he now knew I

was “worthy” of his teachings) I competed in the gladiator, coming in the biggest and fullest ever. I had brought a formidable physique to the stage, but unfortunately the judges saw otherwise. I ended up placing top five again. My father felt like I got robbed, but I had already gone too far to give up. So four months later, after making some tweaks and adjustments, I competed in the Maryland and East Coast again. I ended up in the top three, qualifying me for nationals which I will be going to in Miami in November. As far as my training regimen goes, after eight years of training, I tried many different routines and philosophies. The one routine that works best for me is the one my father always swore by. And that is Mike Mentzer’s high intensity training perfected by Dorian Yates, doing the most amount of work in the least amount of time. Basically, it requires doing one body part a week, 2-3 exercises max per body part. The only disadvantage with this is that you have to have a training partner because we do a lot of negatives, forced reps, drop sets, super sets and rest pauses. As far


as my diet is concerned for off season training, I like to stay at around 10% body fat by doing 50% carbs, 40% protein, and 10% fat from 5000 calories. For my contest diet, I do 60/30/10 from 2500-3000, depending on how much cardio I’m going to do that day. But remember I have a very fast metabolism so it has to be tweaked to each person. You see the moral of the story is years went by, and I was just a tiny little snow ball on top of a very high mountain (AKA Mt. Olympus) that my dad (aka Zeus himself) had pushed me off of, exponentially getting bigger and stronger small steps at a time with consistency and dedicating my life to this concept. It truly is working and paying off. I grew up in a decent, affluent, middle class area, as a spoiled, only child who knew no limits and no boundaries. You could say I had wonderful childhood, but despite the amazing upbringing, I was unfortunately diagnosed with major depressive and panic disorder when I was eighteen. This left me in a state of hopelessness and melancholy and sent me to the hospital several times because I was convinced I was dying even though I wasn’t. People knew something was wrong, and I was not myself; I had no zest or passion, just a zombie sleepwalking through the day. It is hard to describe this disorder, but the best way I can put it is you know what gives you depression and panic is not a real concern or what normal people would be fearful of. But rather, it’s just that the chemicals in my brain told me otherwise, and it was always a constant battle to overcome the chemicals. I had gotten to the point of no return on my lowest of lows, and all I wanted to do was to give up. But there was a little voice inside my head, the voice that my father had instilled deep inside my subconscious. This voice was stronger than any disorder or any other feeling a human could possibly feel. I picked myself up, and realized I will have to find a way to turn this disorder into an advantage. I turned it into an advantage by getting extremely angry. I became so angry that no matter how tired I was or how down I was feeling, the anger drove me forward with a burning desire for glory. Nobody has a perfect life. Everybody has their own problems. Some people just know how to deal with it in a better way. You see the voice my dad had put in my head had made me feel an existential desire to become a demi god at all costs-my ultimate mission to honor Zeus himself. www.MOST mag.com || FITNESS

Some of my most major desired goals from this fitness endeavor are to have it lead me into some kind of modeling or acting. I would also love to meet the godfather of aesthetics, Frank Zane (well actually it was Steve reeves, but he is no longer with us unfortunately), when bodies were all about proportion and symmetry. This is why I am so excited to compete next year in the first NPC classic physique showdown, where I can finally show my legs and show the full package! I would ultimately love to be in some kind of war movie or anything to do with epic greatness. I’ve been watching war and martial arts movies for my whole life and would love nothing more than to be in one and further continue to solidify the legacy. For now in the immediate future I have some photo shoots set up in LA. Another thing I will be doing is making YouTube videos on all kinds of things aesthetic related. I will have things such as: training video tutorials, diet and nutrition advice videos, trolling videos (obviously something that involves shirt off), and even motivational videos. Conclusion: Don’t confuse your path with your destination. Just because it is stormy now does not

mean that you aren’t headed toward sunshine. I learned something super important; my success depends on doing my best-not just once in a while but consistently. Losers live in the past. Winners learn from the past and enjoy working in the present to become better for the future. If things are getting tough, it’s likely because you’re venturing into new areas and getting out of your comfort zone. This is a good place to be and will help you get the most out of life. The secret to competitive success is no secret at all. It all comes down to sound preparation, a step by step process, and focusing throughout all the hurdles, peaks, and valleys. Success is about dedication. You may not be where you want to be or do what you want to do when you’re on the journey.
