Warriors Watch by Wayne “Rock” (of the Marne) Lutz

Supporting our Nations Warriors It was Sunday, May 7th, 2006, when Lance Corporal Adam Conboy called his mother in Philadelphia from Iraq with an unusual request. Living conditions were harsh and Spartan for the Marines like Adam, a Rifleman in the Third Battalion, Third Marines. Adam requested some basic creature comforts, including pillows. He said to his mom, "whatever you send make sure it is in the amount of forty". He wanted to be sure that his comrades had the same comforts that he did. He laughed at his mom’s response and said "get Operation Bedding going Mom." Five days later, on Friday May 12, Adam was killed. Without knowing it Adam had inspired and named his own Memorial Fund. It wasn’t long after his funeral in Philadelphia that Operation Bedding got underway. People react in different ways to tragedy and personal loss. When a life as young and full of potential as Adam’s is snuffed out prematurely, some mothers and fathers would withdraw into their grief and close out the world. And no one can blame a parent for a reaction like that. But others work through their grief in another way – the way that Adam’s mom, Mary Conboy, did. They pour their strength, courage, resources and their very lives into making things better for others in the name of the loved one who was lost. Adam’s funeral in the Roxborough section of Philadelphia was held in an old stone church on the steep hilly roads of that part of Philadelphia, down in the valley of the Schuchyll River. The hooves of a team of black horses clattered on the cobblestones as men in black coats and top-hats drove the black caisson containing Adam’s flag-draped casket to the cemetery across the river. I and about 150 others on motorcycles followed. It wasn’t long after that somber day that Mary Conboy and Gary began to give back. First, she and

her husband Gary (Gary is a rider) joined us for the funeral of Army Sgt. Jennifer Hartman in September of that same year, and Mary shared her special bond – a bond that only Gold Star Mothers can know - with Jennifer’s mother. Soon, the Adam Conboy Memorial Fund’s Operation Bedding got underway in earnest. Donations were solicited and collected. Boxes were packed with items of comfort. Volunteers fanned out and touched the hearts of individuals and companies. The operation very quickly outgrew the shed in Mary’s yard and moved to warehouse space. Today, more than four years after Adam died, Operation Bedding has spread to other states around the nation and has sent more than 10,000 boxes overseas to our fighting men and women. . Mary has shown herself to be one of those extraordinary people who channels her grief into positive action for the good of others, and from the time of Adam’s funeral to this day, men and women on motorcycles have been among Gold Star Mom Mary Conboy’s most ardent supporters. There are plenty of opportunities for the Warriors’ Watch and other riders to aid in a good cause, and the cause of the Adam Conboy Memorial Fund is as good as any you can find. Fellow riders, go to the Adam Conboy website and find out what you can do to support Mary and her efforts. You can get all the information you need at www.adamconboymemorialfund.org Bikers are among some of the most generous and kindhearted men and women on the planet, and associations like the one we have with Gold Star Mother Mary Conboy show that for all to see.

Politics Biker Style

by Charles Umbenhaur A.B.A.T.E.

“What We Are Not…” by Kevin Snyder, State Coordinator, A.B.A.T.E. of PA Over the past several weeks, I have received some correspondence and conversation that makes me want to talk about what A.B.A.T.E. of PA is, and what it is not. The realities of A.B.A.T.E. of PA are that it is a successful yet misunderstood part of the motorcycling community in Pennsylvania. We are the only organized voice representing motorcyclists in Harrisburg. No piece of motorcycle related legislation in Harrisburg goes unnoticed by us, and if we don’t support it, it isn’t going to pass. No one else does that. Not dealers or manufacturers. Not trail riders, sport bike riders, or touring riders. Not one group has committed the resources and effort that A.B.A.T.E. of PA has on behalf of the motorcycling community in Pennsylvania. At the same time, we are criticized for being “the helmet people”, or for not being diverse enough, or for partying too much. Which view is correct? It’s a little of all of that. A.B.A.T.E. of PA was indeed founded with one purpose in mind…modification of Pennsylvania’s helmet law. And it was founded by a bunch of rebels who rode Harleys, had a taste for beer, and wanted to be able to ride their motorcycles without the requirement of wearing a helmet. For twenty-five years, that purpose was the foremost thing on A.B.A.T.E. of PA’s collective mind. A lot of other good things were accomplished along the way, but we’d be lying if we said our Holy Grail wasn’t helmet law modification… On July 6, 2003, A.B.A.T.E. of PA’s world turned upside down at the stroke of a Governor’s pen. For the first time since 1968, experienced adult motor Page 6

cyclists had the right to choose whether or not to use a helmet when riding. At that moment of triumph, A.B.A.T.E. of PA’s greatest crisis began. How to you improve on accomplishing the impossible? We think we’ve answered that. Since 2003, A.B.A.T.E. of PA has repurposed itself. We have become “the motorcycle people” in Harrisburg. We work closely with state agencies who wouldn’t give us the time of day when the helmet issue was in play. Legislators don’t introduce bills that would affect motorcycling before finding out where A.B.A.T.E. of PA stands on the issue. Are we still “the helmet people?” Well, Pennsylvania has a helmet law that we support and will resist any effort to change. If that makes us “the helmet people” then so be it. Are we diverse enough? We’ve never excluded anyone on purpose. Have we inadvertently caused some riders to feel excluded? Probably. Do we party too much? Probably. One part of me is bothered that the majority of our chapter meetings occur in bars. Then I think about the American Revolution that occurred more in taverns than churches and I don’t lose as much sleep. A.B.A.T.E. of PA does not and will never have a position on abortion or gun control, health care or campaign funding. We care about and work on motorcyclists issues. That is the only thing on our plate. A.B.A.T.E. of PA is not perfect. We have been at this long enough, however, to have earned the right not to apologize for ourselves to anyone. If you’re one of the 700,000 motorcyclists in Pennsylvania who are not politically active, we’d like you to reconsider. We’d like your help. Where Were You? RALLY AT THE ROCK 3 History dictates that over 500 million years ago there was an ocean on the same land that is now Lake Harmony and Split Rock Resort. Nestled in the Western portion of the Pocono mountains; Split Rock Resort played host to the third annual Rally at the Rock. The event showcased custom bike builders, stunt performers, plenty of parts and accessories, clothing, jewelry, sunglasses, food, libations, and much more. Hey, it’s a motorcycle rally, so yes, you WILL find these types of items to purchase, and great shows, and cycles to check out! The FLBPA “Babe of the Month” winner is Autumn Minkiewicz. Autumn lives in Edwardsville with her two daughters Emilee and Victoria along with her boyfriend Frank, and step daughter Morgan. This was her first show, and she admitted to being excited and nervous during the whole photo shoot process. She did a great job for her first professional shoot. Autumn bartends at Beer Bellies. A few of her photos for entering the contest were sent in from participating at the Kingston Army fashion show to benefit Wyoming Valley Children’s Assoc. Other shots were sent in from posing on Frank’s bike in the garage. The on-line viewers voted, and Autumn was your winner. Congratulations! See this months centerfold!!! Fast Lane Biker PA ‘s “Scoot of the Month” winner is George Svencer. George has been showing his 2004 Ultra Classic for over 2 1/2 years. Originally from Johnstown, George and his fiancé, Candy, live in New Holland. A close friend of his introduced him to “bike bling for a dresser.” It all started from there. He is quick to point out that his bike is an “all year ridden bike.” They both enjoy traveling and meeting new people. Candy tells me that “George is not Page 8

old, because he has an old man’s bike. We have a comfortable ride so I have a seat and not an ass crack to sit on.” It’s obvious George really enjoys sharing and showing his bike for others to admire. He has a collection of 40+ trophies and plaques to prove it. Congratulations! See Feature in this issue. The unsettled weather brought showers late Saturday afternoon and into the evening. Sunday’s forecast was mostly dry with morning drizzle and a few peeks of sunshine. The weather in general brought upon an early exit for some vendors on the last day. But that didnt stop us from having a good time!!! So what exactly is Split Rock? It’s a large outcrop of red sandstone which was a result of the last ice sheet that occurred about 70,000 years ago. Steve and I hiked to the site and enjoyed the fantastic view from the observation deck. If you haven’t seen “the split rock”, be sure to check it out the next time you are in the area. Rally at the Rock 4?? BE THERE. See You in the Fast Lane! Alicia “BBA” Helfrich York, PA

Learn to Play Winning Blackjack #101

For those who are not aware, the State of Pennsylvania will soon be offering table games at their Casino’s. One of the most popular table games at Casinos today is BlackJack. Although it seems to be a simple game, it is not. The house has the mathematical edge and you need to known how to approach each hand to even the odds. To help those of you who are looking forward to the table games to learn the skills and tricks of the trade,we will be featuring one article each month dealing with a different part of the game. Stay with it and in no time you’ll be playing like a PRO.

Introduction

Part 1

Blackjack is a game of skill and this is where you can learn the skills it takes to beat the game. This course will take you step-by-step through the process of learning how to play each hand properly. How and when to properly bet and literally hundreds of other “tricks of the trade”. The skills are not something you have to learn overnight. Take your time and do what is said and soon you’ll be on your way to playing a winning game of Blackjack. The foundation of winning at Blackjack is to utilize proper strategy in playing the hands. “Proper” means that each decision you make on hitting, standing, doubling or splitting pairs is the correct mathematical play for that hand. There is no room for intuition, gut feelings or guessing when it comes to basic strategy; you must make the “percentage” play each time. Even if you’ve doubled an 11 against a dealer’s 10 five times in a row and lost, when that hand comes up a sixth time you must double. Consistency is a big part of playing a winning game, so resolve right now that you are going to make the proper play, regardless if the dealer rolls his eyes upward or the other players at the table groan quietly when you do it. You are there for the money -- there’s no other reason to play blackjack -- and the application of proper basic strategy is going to get that money for you; what others think of your play is not important. The wins at Blackjack come in ‘groups’, so you shouldn’t be concerned when you have a losing session, nor should you feel invincible when you win. A proper mental attitude eliminates the highs and lows of the game, but it enables you to play a solid , unemotional game. When having a losing session (about, 35% of the time), just go away knowing that the casino will take good care of the money and you’ll eventually come back for it. To put it simply, if you are playing a winning game, it isn’t a matter of ‘if ’ you will win, merely a matter of ‘when’ Emotions have no place at the card table; accuracy and patience are the only requirements for getting the $$$. The game of casino blackjack or 21 is by far the most popular table game offered in gambling establishments. If you are just learning the game and are unfamiliar with the rules of casino blackjack or simply need some clarification on the finer points, you’ve come to the right place! This course will tell you everything you need to know to play the game.

Casino Basics-Choosing a Table

Before playing the game, you’ll need to find an appropriate table at which to play. If you’re a newcomer to this process, there are a few items to keep in mind. You’ll want to pay attention to several details about each table that you approach. The most important item is the sign declaring betting limits. Both the minimum and the maximum allowable bets should be clearly posted on a sign on the top of the table. In most casinos, the signs are color-coded to match the minimum bets posted on them: Red for $5, Green for $25, and Black for $100 minimum tables. The currency amounts and chip colors mentioned on this page are written from the viewpoint of a visitor to a casino in the United States. Look around to find a table that suits your bet sizes. Often, you’ll find that the lower limit ($2 or $5) tables are quite crowded. Next, you’ll want to make sure that the table you have selected is actually for blackjack, and not another of the various table games offered at the casino. Blackjack tables will almost certainly have the phrase “Blackjack pays 3 to 2” printed on the table felt…(Warning: NOT ANY MORE! Read about the evils of 6:5 blackjack) here’s a real crisis developing for fans of casino blackjack. Many casinos in the US have begun introducing a rule change that dramatically increases the house advantage in the game. If you’ve been to Las Vegas lately, you may have seen signs advertising “Single Deck Blackjack” at many of the casinos on the Las Vegas Strip. But, there’s a catch. Look out for a sign on the table that says “Blackjack Pays 6:5”. In a normal blackjack game, a “natural” or blackjack pays 3:2. If you bet $10 and draw a blackjack, you’ll be paid $15. However, at these new 6:5 games, a $10 blackjack wins only $12. The next item to observe is the type of game being dealt. Beginners are usually better off playing the “shoe” games where 6 or 8 decks are used. The advantage for beginners in this game is that all of the player’s cards are dealt face-up in front of each player, and the dealer can help with playing questions and decisions. Notice: Once you become proficient at the game, you might want to switch to a game with fewer decks. The casino’s advantage is lower with fewer decks in play. But for now, let’s stick with the multi-deck games for the ease-of-play advantage. Next month -More Basics of Blackjack

HUMOR IN THE FAST LANE

Compiled by the Chief

All jokes are submitted by our readers. We dont know where they came from or who wrote them. Just enjoy!!!

I was walking past the mental hospital the other day and all the patients were shouting, '13....13....13.' The fence was too high to see over, but I saw a little gap in the planks, so I looked through to see what was going on..... Some idiot poked me in the eye with a stick! Then they all started shouting '14....14....14'... Does pushing the elevator button more than once make it go faster? A biker was driving down the street in a sweat because he had an important meeting and couldn’t find a parking place.. Looking up to heaven he said, ‘Lord take pity on me. If you find me a parking place I will go to Mass every Sunday for the rest of me life and give up drinking!’ Miraculously, a parking place appeared. The Biker looked up again and said, ‘Never mind Lord, I found one.’ Biker walks into a bar with a Parrot on his shoulder. Bartender asks, Where did you get that"? "Pennsylvania, they're all over the place" said the Parrot Biker is driving down a back road in Louisiana. A sign in front of a restaurant reads: HAPPY HOUR SPECIAL Lobster Tail and Beer "Lord a'mighty," he says to himself, "my three favorite things An elderly couple, who were both widowed, had been going out with each other for a long time. Urged on by their friends, they decided it was finally time to get married. Before the wedding, they went out to dinner and had a long conversation regarding how their marriage might work. They discussed finances, living arrangements, and so on. Finally, the old gentleman decided it was time to broach the subject of their physical relationship. "How do you feel about sex?" he asked rather tentatively. "I would like it infrequently," she replied. The old gentleman sat quietly for a moment, adjusted his glasses, then leaned over towards her and whispered, "Is that one word or two?"

'Really,' said Charles, 'Now that's a switch! What did she say?' She said, 'Come out from under the bed, you chicken.' A man and woman were having dinner in a fine restaurant. Their waitress, taking another order at a table a few steps away, suddenly noticed that the man was slowly sliding down his chair and under the table, but the woman acted unconcerned. The waitress watched as the man slid all the way down his chair and out of sight under the table. But the woman appeared calm and unruffled, apparently unaware that her dining companion had disappeared. The waitress went over to the table and said to the woman, 'Pardon me, ma'am, but I think your husband just slid under the table.' The woman calmly looked up at her and said, ‘No, he didn’t. He just walked in the door.’ The day after his wife disappeared in a kayaking accident off the coast of Maine , a man answered his door to find two grim-faced State Troopers.. “We know it’s late, sir, but we have some information about your wife,” said one of the Troopers..“Tell me! Did you find her!?” the husband shouted. The Troopers looked at each other. One said, “We have some bad news, some good news, and some really great news. Which do you want to hear first?” Fearing the worst, the ashen husband said “Give me the bad news first.” The second Trooper said, “I’m sorry to tell you, sir, but this morning we found your wife’s body in the bay.” “Oh my God!” exclaimed the husband.. Swallowing hard, he asked, “What’s the good news?” The Trooper continued, “When we pulled her up, she had 6 twenty-five pound snow crabs and 12 good-size lobsters clinging to her.” Stunned, the husband demanded, “If that’s the good news, what’s the great news???” The Trooper answered, “We’re gonna pull her up again tomorrow!

Walking into the bar, Mike said to Charlie the bartender, 'Pour me a stiff one - just had another fight with the wife.' 'Oh yeah?' said Charlie, 'And how did this one end?''When it was over,' Mike replied, 'She came to me on her hands and knees.' Page 18

July & Aug MOOD OF THE MOMENT. I have never seen planets in this configuration before. 7 out of 10 ‘planets’ are involved. The forces that make things happen are in a tug-of-war with each other during this time. Push and pull between Jump and Hold On with a grinding power to Break and Give Birth. Out with the Old and in with the New. It is a kind of Birth happening. Something big and extreme is happening. The world may feel it as an economic collapse or string of natural disasters. It is significant. Something new is coming and the meaning of it will be understood only after it is Here. ARIES. Uranus and Jupiter both moving into Aries now. Uranus is an 84 year cycle and it will be in Aries for the next 7 years. Expected the unexpected. Incredible urge for freedom and individuality. The old and routine bore you now. Jobs and relationships seem like a burden. You have this electric restless feeling that you have to break out of the rut and do something new. Nothing has to be wrong with the old. You just need something new. If you do not break out, you will feel depressed. If you do, then others who need you will feel depressed. What to do.

TAURUS. There is more to heaven and earth than meets the eye. This is not a time to be so grounded in the material world. Physicists can only find 4% of physical matter. 96% is unseen and unfound. This is a time for you to go for the 96% where reality is. Channels are opening up inside you now for other forms of consciousness and psychic abilities. Clairvoyance and seeing the human aura are possible abilities for you now. Not your normal way of same same in the world, but these are not normal times. GEMINI. You have had a tendency to make a friend with everybody, but now is a time to pick and choose. Look for the people and groups that are into consciousness-raising. Look for the people who are strange, unusual, extraordinary in some way. They stand out in a crowd and somehow seem like they don’t fit. Make a friend with these people, but don’t expect the normal emotional bonding from them that you would with others. They come and go. In this you will find that expanding awareness that you have been looking for. CANCER. Happy Birthday Beloved. Nothing stable outside you now. Everything in an uproar. Change, change, change. Forget about security for awhile as an individual. Band together. Be with family, tribe, or commune. Meet the people in your neighborhood. Form a cooperative with common interests and common goals. Share your resources. All For One and One For All. The energies may not affect you personally, but the people around you will. One thing about you that never changes is that you feel what others feel and what happens to them, happens to you also. LEO. Happy Birthday Beloved. What happens now gives you a new view on things, a new meaning to life, a new consciousness to be aware in a new way. It is a time of awakening. Absolutely positive for you to take a long travel to a new and exotic land. Absolutely positive for you to take a new look at that book you purchased, but you never fully read. Good to take some steps of cleansing the body to clear the mind. Good to join a consciousness group or find an unusual teacher who can open your third eye. VIRGO. Good to pay attention to the material world and to get your resources organized and in order. Next year you will begin to not care about all of that and good now to do what you can do so that you have something to rely upon and not have to think about it anymore. Take inventory and make a plan. Keep your investments conservative, low-risk, and long term. There comes a time when the mind lets go of its grip and you can just melt into contentment. It is not peace that you want or even bliss. Contentment is the highest state of being there can be.

LIBRA.. Saturn in Libra until 2012 right now being challenged by Uranus (change, freedom) and Pluto (crisis, transformation). The energy now is about putting your feet so firmly on the ground that no wind can knock you down. It is about being like a tree with roots so deep, deep, deep that you can withstand any storm. Saturn is the Aloneness of being with the presence of yourself. Saturn is the foundation and the rock upon which to stand. It is a practical, earthy, organizing time to make yourself self-sufficient and strong.

SCORPIO. Ordinary day to day conversation is boring to you now. People are just too superficial in what they say and their words carry no depth. It is the real meaning underneath the words that you want to know. You either question deeper, deeper until they get uncomfortable or you know better than to say anything at all. You are searching for authenticity and depth now and nothing else will do. You have to know the secret. You have to know what is hidden. You have to know the cause and the original source. SAGITTARIUS. The grass may be greener on the other side of the fence, but it is the grass beneath your feet that is important to you now. It is a good time to think small, to see the trees and forget the forest. It is a good time to think near and close. Sometimes you have your eyes so far over the horizon that you trip over the crack in the sidewalk in front of you. Take pleasure in the little, little things in life that you can see, touch, feel, and smell. Come back to your basic six senses and enjoy the routine parts of your life. CAPRICORN. Pluto in Capricorn until 2024. During this time, there will be a process of death and rebirth, of crisis and consciousness, and trauma and empowerment. It starts off with a bang right now with a Uranus (change, explosive) and Saturn (fixed stability) T-Square. All kinds of challenges going on. It is a process of purification and cleansing the superficial until you get to the root and the core. This is where you find the Truth of that which is eternal and never dies. This is where you find your power and transform. AQUARIUS. Revelation and revolution in your mind. This is one of the most creative times of your life. New ideas, new thoughts, and new ways of communicating happen for you now. The 3rd Eye opens up and ‘Eureka!’, you suddenly See. Good to study how the unconscious mind works now with processes like nlp or the 112 meditations of Shiva. Good to search for anomalies and other unusual oddities that do not fit accepted ‘fact’. Good to think outside the box and to trust in sudden leaps in intuition. Good to know what you do not know. PISCES. Soft, kind and caring precious one, Don’t be a thief. Because you are such a good listener, people tell you their problems and suffering. You try to help. Sometimes you try to help by feeling their pain with them. It doesn’t work. Now, two people are suffering. Don’t try to steal people’s suffering. It belongs to them. They earned it and they need it to help them grown. Just listen and Be There for them and receive, but don’t hold onto it and don’t try to take it away from them. What is theirs is and what is yours is yours and there is a difference between the two.

Where Were You? Bike Night Presented by York Revolution! Another bike night in downtown York was held on Friday, June 11th at the Sovereign Bank Stadium. This month was the most successful one to date. The first one held in April had temps in the 50’s. The one in May had tornado warnings. June was a hit! There were many bikers riding in, and many fans of the York Revolution baseball team walking in. There was a game this night, which made for a fun time; getting the fans to help judge the cycles. The kids loved it! The York Motorcycle Club handed out plaques to the winners. Don’t forget the big event in York on July 3rd. Presented by York Revolution! The parade of Chrome starts at 5:30pm. The Game at 7:00pm. $2.00 on every ticket will be donated to a local charity.

Where Were You? The LCBC Motorsports Show & BBQ FEATURING MORE THAN MOTORCYCLES Of course we're a Biker Magazine, but at this event there were also some really cool vehicles I had to share with our readers. The LCBC Motorsports Show & BBQ held it's 11th annual show on June 12th in Manheim township. Hundreds of exhibitors and thousands of spectators were expected, and I'm sure they reached these numbers. New & antique cars & motorcycles, street rods, trucks, muscle cars, scooters giveaways, food, a DJ, and more; gave the crowd plenty to see and do at this FREE event. Ben Minichino, coordinator and "Partner" of the Freedom Riders, said this event is held the second Saturday in June every year. Mark your calendars. You don't want to miss it. I'll be there again next year. The pit bbq sandwiches were mighty tasty, and inexpensive! I personally like the Freedom Riders motto: "IT'S NOT WHAT YOU RIDE.... IT'S THAT YOU RIDE!" www.lcbcfreedomriders.org See You in the Fast Lane! Alicia BBA Helfrich York

Contest Winner George Svencer-

with his 2004 Ultra Classic

I bought my ride 2 and half years ago when it only had 2800 miles on it. I got over

27000 miles on now. The paint work, done by Chris Cruz was on it. I love dogs so the wolves got me interested, but more so how the art work was done. To me, it looked like it was a picture from a Franklin Mint collection and the low miles didn’t hurt. I always say “what’s the first thing you think of when you hear the words ”Full Dresser”, you may think “OLD MANS BIKE”!” So I took off the lower fairings and upper fairing vents. Made look a little sleeker. I think the full dresser don’t get enough credit!! When I bought the bike, it wasn’t the show piece. Because of the salt air in Florida where the bike was from and I bought it at Classic Harley Davidson in Reading, PA., some of the chrome has been changed out for brand new. What I have now is a bike worth showing! And that’s exactly what I do several times a year. My friend Mike Stone started me on these shows and showed me all the bling bling that can be put on a dresser. He has a dresser 2007 and it looks good. My first show was with Motorcycle Monthly magazine where I won first place there and was totally hooked. Now I do that show twice a year. In 2009 I was invited to be apart of Axis Of Steel in Lancaster, PA and I won the Peoples Choice award and $500 in cash. For a dresser that is one of the hardest awards to win, so winning at a big show like that, where there were 1.3 million dollars worth of bikes I was “SKY HIGH”!! I did the New Holland bike show and cook off where the first year I did not place, but the second year I took next to the top prize which was BEST DETAILED. Carlisle Bikefest I was awarded the Special Recognition award. Harrisburg Shriners show I took first place two years in a row plus Judges Choice. I had a Best in Show trophy from Iron Valley Harley Davidson and another win at a Farm Show Complex swap meet in Harrisburg, PA. Continuing an impressive string of wins, I did the Triple Crown bike night which is Boyertown, Glenside, Lansdale (all in PA) where when you do all three shows, win or lose you get a trophy - I got four trophies including first place in all three shows. When people ask me ‘Do you ride this bike or Page 34

just show it?’ it always makes me grin. Since I ride all year round, I like to keep my ride clean and for the Axis of Steel show I worked on it for two weeks trying to make it almost perfect. I knew “That won’t happen (perfection) the paint has riding wear.”I do big non money shows all the way to benefit shows, plus car/truck/motorcycle shows. So far in two and half years I have about 40 trophies. I try to do a show every weekend little to big. What my game plan is to attract the younger riders that dressers are KOOL! So I try to keep my bike sleek, soft and smoothed. I took off as much Harley name as I could. Just look at it and the way it sounds and that is all the more you need.” Since then I did Timonium, Md show I won 1 st place also got a pic with Micheal Smith on my bike. The Gettysburg show was cool I got to meet Mark Boone and got some pics with him on my bike and I took 2nd place for best paint which was great because it was the 1st time award. I didn’t care what place but it was best paint. In the mean time I was doing this other contest and It was your contest! With the help of my family and riding friends and last but not least My Facebook friends from all over the world. I sent a email out to all my friends on facebook not sure of the turn out if any. I got half of votes from 382 FB friends. Fastlane Biker it was a good thing you also being on Facebook I think it would of been harder to get their votes if you weren’t.

ASK THE ATTORNEY ASK THE ATTORNEY By: Lee D. Gaber, Esquire 1-888-CYCLE-LAW LeeGaber@cycleattorney.com

I am often asked; “Does it pay to shop around for the best deal on motorcycle insurance”? As such, I did some investigation comparing my insurance costs against three of the leading motorcycle insurance carriers in PA and NJ; Rider, GEICO and Progressive. I gave all of my information to these companies and requested quotes for two coverage amounts; the minimum amounts required and the amounts which I currently have, 250/500 in liability and 250/500 in uninsured and underinsured motorist benefits. The results were as follows; Rider quoted $272.00 a year for the 250/500 level, which was the least expensive quote for this amount of coverage. At 15/30, Rider quoted $185.00 but it included 15/30 in uninsured and underinsured motorist coverage. What I found most interesting, was that the difference in coverage (15k v 250K) is extraordinary, however the price difference was under $100.00 a year. GEICO quoted $515.00 a year for the 250/500 level, and $136.00 a year for the state minimum but did not include any uninsured or underinsured motorist coverage. The next carrier was Progressive. Their results were presented in a slightly different fashion. When I put in the 250/500 amounts, Progressive not only quoted me the price for those coverages, but also gave me the option to purchase three lesser amounts beginning with the minimum coverage. Progressive ranged from $75.00 to $590.00 per year. When requesting quotes from Progressive, it appeared that the website is designed in a manner that seems to suggest that purchasing uninsured/underinsured motorist coverage is not really important, as they fill in these option boxes with the words “No Coverage”, leading me to believe that many people will simply skip over the uninsured and underinsured coverages and leave the defaulted “No Coverage” selection on their insurance application. Additionally, although offered four separate choices, the only item that really changed was the amount of liability coverage with the exception of package number three which rose to $314.00 a year, that one did include some uninsured motorists coverage but did not include any underinsured motorists coverage. The coverage I have through State Farm at the 250/500 level, runs approximately $580.00 a year, pretty much in line with the quotes I received from GEICO and Progressive. Although it appears that Rider is the most competitive in price, I choose to go with State Farm because only State Farm allows me to “stack” the uninsured and underinsured motorist coverage on my motorcycle on top of my other vehicles effectively giving me 1,000,000.00/2,000,000.00 in um/uim coverage. To me, this option is invaluable and worth the increased premium. Most importantly, I learned that you must be very careful when buying your insurance on-line as there are many questions and you must make your selections very carefully. Additionally, once you receive confirmation of your choices, print it out, and confirm every choice you made. If you are not sure as to the coverages, please feel free to call me and I will be happy to discuss the coverage choices. Finally, last night I saw a somewhat shocking ad by Allstate. The ad showed several motorcycles in the process of crashing and the tag line went something like “motorcycles don’t crash on their own, make sure you are protected” or something to that effect. Allstate then indicated that they sell motorcycle policies for as little as $100.00. Obviously it is an attempt to grab your attention and convince you to buy your insurance from Allstate. However, be forewarned, I can almost guarantee that the amount quoted is for a bare minimum policy which, contrary to what the commercial seems to indicate, will not provide any real protection. It will merely allow you to legally operate your motorcycle. Keep in mind that with insurance, like everything else, you get what you pay for! The less you pay, the less you get. In conclusion, it does pay to compare prices, just be sure you know what you are buying, and that you are comparing apples to apples! I hope this answers this commonly asked question and as always, I hope you find this information informative and if you would like additional information on this topic, or any other, I can always be reached at LeeGaber@cycleattorney.com or 1-888-CYCLE-LAW (1-888-292-5352).

Where Were You? Wyoming Valley MC SPCA Run By Autumn Minkiewicz The 14th annual Wyoming Valley Motorcycle Club SPCA run was held on Sunday June 13th, 2010. The day started out hot and humid with a threat of rain looming over us. Despite the call for rain 550 bikes registered to sponsor this wonderful event. Registration took place at the SPCA of Luzerne County in Wilkes-Barre, PA between the hours of 10am – 1pm. The hour run left the SPCA and headed up Jumper Road to Suscon Road to 940 in the Pocono’s. From 940 it went to 115 in White Haven to 437 to Mountain Top. From Mountain Top you than proceeded down 309 to Bentley's. However no sooner did we start to pull out did the skies open up on us getting everyone soaking wet. Sure made the ride more interesting and harder to see. At this point the ride started to split up between people who headed home for 4 wheels, people who looked for the closest neon or dry coverage and people who dared to complete the whole ride. As we pulled into Bentley’s we were slowly started to dry out. Strawberry Jam was greeting us with music. The Hamburgers and hotdogs were being grilled and handed out to the hungry riders, compliments of Bentley’s. Pocono Mountain Leather was on hand selling merchandise to riders if needed. We did get another downpour and sideways while we were there. The band did have to break down for a bit and cover their equipment. All in all it was a great day with great friends to support a great cause. A little rain never hurt anyone and amongst friends it isn’t so bad. Thankfully no one got hurt either. A big thanks goes out to the Wyoming Valley Motorcycle club and all the wonderful sponsors who donated their time, effort and support. Will see you next June for the 15th Annual SPCA Run!!

Where Were You? DESTINATIONS KNOWNFOR A GOOD CAUSE Troy Rosenzweig is 42 years young, and has a Life not like yours or mine. Troy suffers from Crohn's Disease. He has had eight surgeries over the past eleven years with this challenging disease. Troy's mom, Joyce, told me he almost passed away in October from complications. When my friend, Heather, asked me to join her on a Benefit Ride for him, I was there. Talk about a fun time! We rode from town to town with stops at: * Finley's Tavern - Seven Valleys (the Host tavern) * The Racehorse Tavern - Thomasville * Dylan's - East Berlin * Goofy's - Spring Grove * The Glenville Inn, Glennville Many giveaways were handed out at the end of the ride. A BBQ chicken dinner with all the fixings topped off the day. Raffle ticket numbers were being called out for over an hour. There were some awesome prizes that bikers rode home with strapped to their iron horses and stuffed into their saddlebags. The time came for the 50/50 raffle. A number was pulled and called out. No one came forward. So they called the number again, AND again. The crowd was starting to stir. The pot was a big one. Hey, did anyone think to ask the "chicken man" outside, who was tending to the great looking birds on the grill; what "his" number was?! Wouldn't you know....... we had a winner! Over 80 riders participated in Troy's benefit ride, and over $4,000.00 was raised. Way to go! The money donated will go toward on going medical treatments, and medications. Get out there and support at least one or more charity rides this season. It's a fabulous feeling getting involved, even if it's only for a day. See YOU in the Fast Lane! Some Roads Came Out Shining By Rusty Sprocket Been down a road or two full of twists and turns roads that were there to teach me lessons I needed to learn Took some of those roads fullthrottle… knew I was goin’ too fast burned quickly through some pleasures then wished I had let them last… Highways and byways I rumbled down like life was one big race flittin’ from cover to cover not knowin’ a settled place Took to some dark and stormy roads I knew I never shoulda run but they came out shining after the rain… like smooth silk ribbons in the sun
