blind boy sat on the steps of a building with a hat by his feet. He held up a sign which said: “I am blind, please help.” There were only a few coins in the hat. A man was walking by. He took a few coins from his pocket and dropped them into the hat. He then took the sign, turned it around, and wrote some words. He put the sign back so that everyone who walked by would see the new words. Soon the hat began to fill up. A lot more people were giving money to the blind boy. That afternoon the man who had changed the sign came to see how things were. The boy recognized his footsteps and asked, “Were you the one who changed my sign this morning? What did you write?” The man said, “I only wrote the truth. I said what you said but in a different way.” “I wrote: “Today is a beautiful day, but I cannot see it.” Both signs told people that the boy was blind. But the first sign simply said the boy was blind. The second sign told people that they were so lucky that they were not blind. Should we be surprised that the second sign was more effective? Moral of the Story: Be thankful for what you have. Be creative. Be innovative. Think differently and positively. When life gives you a 100 reasons to cry, show life that you have 1000 reasons to smile. Face your past without regret. Handle your present with confidence. Prepare for the future without fear. Keep the faith and drop the fear. The most beautiful thing is to see a person smiling. And even more beautiful, is knowing that you are the reason behind it!!! ~Author unknown
To our advertisers & readers...Riding season is here!!! As the story above states, Be thankful for what you have. Be Creative. Be Innovative. Have Fun and make eachother smile :-)

PATRIOTS ON TWO WHEELS
You don’t need to ride a motorcycle to support our troops and veterans. But if you do ride, you have a unique opportunity to combine your passion for riding with your desire to show support for the troops and their mission. Here is just the most recent example of the high impact that paint and chrome can have. I received a phone call from one of our contacts at the Fort Dix, McGuire Air Force Base, Lakehurst combined facility in New Jersey. I was informed that there were over six hundred troops returning from Afghanistan, in two loads, 300+ plus in one plane and 300+ in the next plane a few days later. These flights are too big to land at McGuire, so they land at Philadelphia International and the troops then are bussed to Fort Dix where they go through 10 days of demobilization processing before they finally go home. The Warriors’ Watch Riders have a working relationship of mutual respect with both the Department of Defense and the various police departments with which we work. Especially at the Philadelphia International Airport, the Airport police not only know us but they are strong supporters of the troops, so they work with us on the best ways to greet and escort those troops coming home. In this case, each one of these two flights rolled right up to our boots, where we waited to cheer and applaud and wave the flags as they came off of the plane. Imagine this – you have just spend 9 months fighting a tough and dishonorable enemy, spent all that time in a place where everyone you meet might be trying to kill you. You leave that place, finally, after counting down the days on your “short-timer’s” calendar. You board a flight in Afghanistan, that plane lands in Kuwait, then you board another flight that brings you to Frankfurt Germany, and then finally you board your homeward-bound flight. Your plane lands in Philadelphia, and as the wheels touch the tarmac, as you realize that you are finally on American soil, the first sight that greets you as you gaze out the little window us row upon row of gleaming, painted-and-chrome motorcycles, lined up with almost military precision, and standing next to each bike is a patriot holding an American Flag. The lights from the vehicles illuminate the redwhite and blue of the flags and reflections bounce off of the chrome. The plane comes to a halt, a stairway is rolled into place and the door opens. First a group of customs officials enter and do some official signing off on documents, and finally you begin to get off of that plane. As you step through the doorway into the night air, a shout goes up – cheers, applause, and shouts of “welcome home!” “Welcome back!” “We love you!” “Welcome to American Soil!” In that moment, then, the troops know for sure that their service was not taken for granted by the American People, and it almost makes all that time and sacrifice worthwhile. This is the power that you have as a patriot AND a biker – the synergistic effect of adding up to make something bigger than the sum of the parts – Add one patriot Plus one motorcycle plus one flag plus one tired soldier and you get an American Homecoming like only an American can do! The Warriors’ Watch Riders in this part of the country does two, three, four and even five and six rides each week. If you have never been on a WWR Welcome Home ride before, you are in for the experience of a lifetime. That is not an exaggeration. If you have been, then I know you are itching to do it again. We have a chapter in Southeast Pennsylvania, In South Jersey, in Northern Delaware, and thanks to a new State Coordinator who has stepped up to take on the job, Dave Birritt, we have a brand-new chapter in East-Central Pennsylvania. If you “join” the WWR (register on our forums and membership database), you will be notified of upcoming rides by email. Sometimes these rides have lots of notice, but most times they are short—notice, sometimes only a day or two, so you have to be alert. Otherwise, go to the main WWR website at www.warriorswatch.org and at the TOP LEFT you will see a link called “Current Ride Plans.” Click on that link and it will take you directly to the area for upcoming rides for the Atlantic states. If there is anything you do not understand, like acronyms and such, please just email me, lutz, at lutz@warriorswatch.org. I will help you out, because the most important thing about honoring our troops is YOU! Page 4

Memorial Day Originally called Decoration Day, is a day of remembrance for those who have died in our nation’s service. There are many stories as to its actual beginnings, with over two dozen cities and towns laying claim to being the birthplace of Memorial Day. There is also evidence that organized women’s groups in the South were decorating graves before the end of the Civil War: a hymn published in 1867, “Kneel Where Our Loves are Sleeping” by Nella L. Sweet carried the dedication “To The Ladies of the South who are Decorating the Graves of the Confederate Dead” (Source: Duke University’s Historic American Sheet Music, 1850-1920). While Waterloo N.Y. was officially declared the birthplace of Memorial Day by President Lyndon Johnson in May 1966, it’s difficult to prove conclusively the origins of the day. It is more likely that it had many separate beginnings; each of those towns and every planned or spontaneous gathering of people to honor the war dead in the 1860’s tapped into the general human need to honor our dead, each contributed honorably to the growing movement that culminated in Gen Logan giving his official proclamation in 1868. It is not important who was the very first, what is important is that Memorial Day was established. Memorial Day is not about division. It is about reconciliation; it is about coming together to honor those who gave their all. Memorial Day was officially proclaimed on 5 May 1868 by General John Logan, national commander of the Grand Army of the Republic, in his General Order No. 11, and was first observed on 30 May 1868, when flowers were placed on the graves of Union and Confederate soldiers at Arlington National Cemetery. The first state to officially recognize the holiday was New York in 1873. By 1890 it was recognized by all of the northern states. The South refused to acknowledge the day, honoring their dead on separate days until after World War I (when the holiday changed from honoring just those who died fighting in the Civil War to honoring Americans who died fighting in any war). It is now celebrated in almost every State on the last Monday in May (passed by Congress with the National Holiday Act of 1971 (P.L. 90 - 363) to ensure a three day weekend for Federal holidays), though several southern states have an additional separate day for honoring the Confederate war dead: January 19 in Texas, April 26 in Alabama, Florida, Georgia, and Mississippi; May 10 in South Carolina; and June 3 (Jefferson Davis’ birthday) in Louisiana and Tennessee. In 1915, inspired by the poem “In Flanders Fields,” Moina Michael replied with her own poem: We cherish too, the Poppy red That grows on fields where valor led, It seems to signal to the skies That blood of heroes never dies. She then conceived of an idea to wear red poppies on Memorial day in honor of those who died serving the nation during war. She was the first to wear one, and sold poppies to her friends and co-workers with the money going to benefit servicemen in need. Later a Madam Guerin from France was visiting the United States and learned of this new custom started by Ms.Michael and when she returned to France, made artificial red poppies to raise money for war orphaned children and widowed women. This tradition spread to other countries. In 1921, the Franco-American Children’s League sold poppies nationally to benefit war orphans of France and Belgium. The League disbanded a year later and Madam Guerin approached the VFW for help. Shortly before Memorial Day in 1922 the VFW became the first veterans’ organization to nationally sell poppies. Two years later their “Buddy” Poppy program was selling artificial poppies made by disabled veterans. In 1948 the US Post Office honored Ms Michael for her role in founding the National Poppy movement by issuing a red 3 cent postage stamp with her likeness on it. Traditional observance of Memorial day has diminished over the years. Many Americans nowadays have forgotten the meaning and traditions of Memorial Day. At many cemeteries, the graves of the fallen are increasingly ignored, neglected. Most people no longer remember the proper flag etiquette for the day. While there are towns and cities that still hold Memorial Day parades, many have not held a parade in decades. Some people think the day is for honoring any and all dead, and not just those fallen in service to our country. There are a few notable exceptions. Since the late 50’s on the Thursday before Memorial Day, the 1,200 soldiers of the 3d U.S. Infantry place small American flags at each of the more than 260,000 gravestones at Arlington National Cemetery. They then patrol 24 hours a day during the weekend to ensure that each flag remains standing. In 1951, the Boy Scouts and Cub Scouts of St. Louis began placing flags on the 150,000 graves at Jefferson Barracks National Cemetery as an annual Good Turn, a practice that continues to this day. More recently, beginning in 1998, on the Saturday before the observed day for Memorial Day, the Boys Scouts and Girl Scouts place a candle at each of approximately 15,300 grave sites of soldiers buried at Fredericksburg and Spotsylvania National Military Park on Marye’s Heights (the Luminaria Program). And in 2004, Washington D.C. held its first Memorial Day parade in over 60 years. To help re-educate and remind Americans of the true meaning of Memorial Day, the “National Moment of Remembrance” resolution was passed on Dec 2000 which asks that at 3 p.m. local time, for all Americans “To voluntarily and informally observe in their own way a Moment of remembrance and respect, pausing from whatever they are doing for a moment of silence or listening to ‘Taps.” The Moment of Remembrance is a step in the right direction to returning the meaning back to the day. What is needed is a full return to the original day of observance. Set aside one day out of the year for the nation to get together to remember, reflect and honor those who have given their all in service to their country. But what may be needed to return the solemn, and even sacred, spirit back to Memorial Day is for a return to its traditional day of observance. Many feel that when Congress made the day into a three-day weekend in with the National Holiday Act of 1971, it made it all the easier for people to be distracted from the spirit and meaning of the day. As the VFW stated in its 2002 Memorial Day address: “Changing the date merely to create three-day weekends has undermined the very meaning of the day. No doubt, this has contributed greatly to the general public’s nonchalant observance of Memorial Day.” On January 19, 1999 Senator Inouye introduced bill S 189 to the Senate which proposes to restore the traditional day of observance of Memorial Day back to May 30th instead of “the last Monday in May”. On April 19, 1999 Representative Gibbons introduced the bill to the House (H.R. 1474). The bills were referred the Committee on the Judiciary and the Committee on Government Reform. Petition powered by ThePetitionSite.com To date, there has been no further developments on the bill. Please write your Representative and your Senators, urging them to support these bills. You can also contact Mr. Inouye to let him know of your support.

Rights Rally - What, Where and Why?
It’s pretty hard to squeeze 30 plus years of rally information into a short article. But I will give it a shot.
You have to go back to 1968 when Pennsylvania was blackmailed by the Federal government to enacting a mandatory helmet law for all riders. Up until that time bikers were pretty much left alone, hell, you didn’t even have to have a license to operate a bike. But that all changed when the helmet law came in and bikers in general were unhappy. Unfortunately, they did not think anything could be done about it. Then sometime in the mid to late 70’s a group called MAUL (Motorcyclists Against Unfair Legislation) started up and put together some rallies at the state capitol in an effort to repeal the state’s mandatory helmet law. Those rallies were held on a weekend and entailed pot smoking, beer drinking and even streaking. Everyone had a lot of fun but it did nothing to help secure any true rights or representation for the motorcycling public. Then in 1977 the ABATE group formed in Erie, PA and spread across the state. They took a more serious approach and moved the rallies to a Monday when the legislature was in session. Put an end to six packs and dubbies on the capitol steps and also had to keep an eye out for t-shirts with unacceptable language. Hey, anyone remember those days? Then let’s cut to 2003. Governor Ed Rendell responds to the excellent grassroots lobbying efforts of the organized ABATE statewide group. He signs a helmet modification and in September of that year bikers that were 21 and met the other requirements could now ride free in PA.
Noon May 23, 2011
It amazed me on the first day that you could ride free I saw thousands of bareheaded bikers out enjoying a beautiful balmy day. Funny how they knew exactly when they could dump the helmet but the vast majority of them didn’t and still do not have a clue as to who ABATE is, what they were able to accomplish and the huge amount of cash that had to be raised to reach the goal. Now we have enjoyed freedom of choice for almost 8 years. We have a new Governor and many new faces in the Legislature that for the most part don’t a clue aboutRally helmet laws and bikers and won’t have unless YOU the motorcycling public get to Harrisburg and take part in the Freehave Commemorative Motorcyclists Rights Rally on Monday, May 23, 2011 at Noon at the state capitol.

humor in the fast lane Compiled by the Chief
All jokes are submitted by our readers. We dont know where they came from or who wrote them. Just enjoy!!
A man on his Harley was riding along a California beach when suddenly the sky clouded above his head and, in a booming voice, God said, ‘because you have tried to be faithful to me in all ways, I will grant you one wish.’ The biker pulled over and said, ‘Build a bridge to Hawaii so I can ride over anytime I want.’ God replied, ‘Your request is materialistic; think of the enormous challenges for that kind of undertaking; the supports required reaching the bottom of the Pacific and the concrete and steel it would take! I can do it, but it is hard for me to justify your desire for worldly things. Take a little more time and think of something that could possibly help man kind.’ The biker thought about it for a long time. Finally, he said, ‘God, I wish that I, and all men, could understand women; I want to know how she feels inside, what she’s thinking when she gives me the silent treatment, why she cries, what she means when she says nothing’s wrong, why she snaps and complains when I try to help, and how I can make a woman truly happy. God replied: ‘You want two lanes or four on that bridge?” IDIOT SIGHTING: I live in a semi rural area. We recently had a new neighbour call the local township administrative office to request the removal of the DEER CROSSING sign on our road. The reason: ‘Too many deer are being hit by cars out here! I don’t think this is a good place for them to be crossing anymore.’ Story from Collingwood, Ontario. Page 14
I’d just come out of the shop with a meat and potato pie, large chips, mushy peas & a jumbo sausage. A poor homeless man sat there and said ‘I haven’t eaten for two days.’ I told him, ‘I wish I had your damn will power.’ Top tip; if you’re camping in the summer and the attractive girl in the next tent tells you that because it’s so hot she will be sleeping with her flaps open, it’s not necessarily an invitation to casual sex........Wish me luck; I will be arraigned next Monday. I got fired on my first day as a male masseuse today.. Apparently the instruction ‘finish off on her face’ didn’t mean what I thought it did. A fat girl served me food in McDonald’s at lunch time. She said ‘sorry about the wait.’ I said ‘don’t worry Chubby, you’re bound to lose it eventually.’ Snow in the forecast! The TV weather gal said she was expecting 8 inches tonight, I thought to myself, “fat chance with a face like that!” I have a new pick up line that works every time. It doesn’t matter how gorgeous or out of my league a woman might be, this line is a winner & I always end up in bed with them. Here’s how it goes ‘Excuse me love, could I ask your opinion? Does this damp cloth smell like chloroform to you?’

Where were you? Battlefield H-D Blessing of the Bikes
“A Bunch of Bikers Prayed for your Safety this Riding Season.”
The Rolling Saints T.E.A.M. held their 10th Annual Bike Blessing at Battlefield Harley Davidson on April 3rd. It was a cold start to the day. The high reached 56 degrees in Gettysburg. As we rode in we were greeted with smiles and given the traditional “free” Bike Blessing pin. Once we arrived my husband; Steve, and friends; Bonnie and Fred, headed inside to “take care of business.” While we were in the dealership shopping we enjoyed complimentary coffee and donut holes. Just like last year, there was a crowd of bikers who rode in for another “moving” ceremony. Fred Shafer, President of Motorcyclists for Jesus Ministries, started the event. Jen, owner of Battlefield HD commented to me how the Rolling Saints T.E.A.M. put on a great venue every year. I certainly had to agree with her opinion. Many Christian Motorcyclists Associations (CMA) Chapters were in attendance. Chapters from York, Hanover, Chambersburg and Maryland joined in prayer, and spoke of uplifting stories. Following the bike blessing the Blue Knights held their annual Charity Ride. What a great day for a Sunday ride! See You in the Fast Lane! Alicia BBA Helfrich York Page 16

Storming Johnstown: Pennsylvania’s Thunder in the Valley one of the northeast’s hottest rallies JOHNSTOWN, PA-- Tucked within the winding rivers, and the lush hillsides of the Allegheny Mountains, is the city of Johnstown, PA, home to the region’s most popular motorcycle rally, Thunder in the Valley. The June 23-26 rally marks the event’s fourteenth anniversary, kicking off another decade for this “must-see” bike rally. Thunder in the Valley has catapulted Johnstown, PA, once known as the “Flood City” and a major player in the Industrial Revolution, into a motorcycle haven. Located in the southwestern part of the state midway between Pittsburgh and Harrisburg, Johnstown’s rally attracts 200,000 attendees from across the U.S. and Canada. The event is organized and promoted by the Greater Johnstown Convention and Visitors Bureau in an effort to attract visitors to the region and encourage overnight and multi-day visits. “Area residents have really embraced the event,” says Jayne Korenoski, director of advertising for Johnstown’s Convention and Visitors Bureau. “Our elected officials, business people, and local residents are so supportive of the rally and take part in many of the activities. They know that bikers are great people, and they see the value in the event—in selling our area and diminishing any negative perceptions about bikers. Johnstown is a beautiful, thriving area that bikers love and will visit again and again.” Thunder’s itinerary differs each year and the variety of events keeps attendees coming back for more. This year’s featured entertainment will include the Rat’s Hole Custom Bike Show and theme pub and will feature hundreds of specialty designed bikes. Another new act is Burnout King Nick Lee. This one man act is sure to pump up the crowd as his show will include some of his own custom bikes as well as the “Burnout King” himself performing several burnouts throughout the weekend. Also new this year is a Dueling Pianos performance. Coming from Universal Studios in Orlando, FL, they rock the house by playing your favorite song requests. Many favorite entertainers return to Thunder again in 2011. The Michael O’Brian Band, a local favorite, will play their popular Irish pub songs. Wheels & Wings returns to Ebensburg with their bike and car show that also features a wing-off. The Blues Brothers return with their sunglasses, harmonica, and on-stage fun that make their tribute act one of the best in the nation. Chef, author and Harley rider Biker Billy will prepare his favorite hot and spicy meals during live cooking demonstrations. Get with the glow and show off your lights at the Lighted Bike Parade on Thursday night. Numerous other activities including Star Boyz stunt shows, Beaverdale Hillclimb competitions, contests, car shows, parties, fireworks, and much more will be taking place at nearby communities. There is something for everyone at Thunder in the Valley. Promoted as a “family-friendly” rally, daytime activities are suitable for adults and youth alike. Kids are drawn to the children’s area as bikers are to chrome. Youngsters can enjoy activities like face painting, balloon artists, and games while others get air-brushed tattoos or participate in the popular Biker Baby contest. Of course, the biggest draw to the rally is the riding opportunities. With the winding mountains and scenic, country roads in the region, there are many opportunities to open up the throttle and explore! Pay your respects at September 11’s Flight 93 crash site just minutes away, or take your bike for a ride up the world’s steepest vehicular Inclined Plane in downtown Johnstown. Visit with friends on the dinner run; travel on one of the self-guided tours, or help someone in need by participating in a charitable run. For the rally traditionalist, Thunder offers numerous nearby attractions, a grand parade, and plenty of vendors displaying biker apparel, accessories and bike products, along with every food or beverage imaginable. In addition to carnivaltype food favorites, Johnstown is an ethnic town whose churches and fraternal organizations offer Polish, Italian, and German treats that no one should pass by. Johnstown’s bike week offers just as much fun when the sun goes down. Sample hot wings and enjoy car shows, enter contests at the local pubs, or kick off the weekend at a party: Thunder’s fun continues into the evening. Pull up a chair in any Thunder pub and be entertained by the live bands playing crowd favorites such as classic rock, Rock ‘N Roll, blues, and jazz genres, or experience an Irish pub sing-a-long or celebrity impressionist show. Three stages offer entertainment daily from noon until midnight. During Thunder’s first ten years, several rally attendees were so inspired by the event that they persuaded organization members to host state and national rallies here. Past events include the 2008 Gold Wing Road Riders state rally, 2005 Harley-Davidson Owners Group state rally and the 2004 National Rally for Kawasaki Concourse Owners. “News is quickly spreading about the friendly people and the service and hospitality offered in Johnstown,” says Korenoski. “We receive great reviews, and we intend to keep it that way. I think that rally attendees are pleasantly surprised whenever they see the area’s natural beauty and take part in the great variety of events the rally offers. I consider Thunder to be in its infancy. As the event continues to grow, the rally will only get better! ” Johnstown, PA is located 65 miles east of Pittsburgh, PA and is accessible from state routes 219, 56, 403, 271 and 22. Detailed event and lodging information can be obtained by contacting the Greater Johnstown Convention and Visitors Bureau at 1-800-237-8590, or by submitting a request online at www.johnstownthunder.com Page 18

Where were you? vidsons a D y e l r a H ouse Hannum’s H n e p O g rin annual Sp
Spring is in the air, and Hannum’s Harley Davidson of Chadds Ford held their annual Spring Open House on a day that started out cloudy for them, but opened up to plenty of sunshine. Ahhh... I drove, yes drove (it killed me not riding) the 1 1/2 hrs to attend this event. (It was raining at my house, in York, when I got in my “cage.”) Let me tell ya, the folks at Hannum’s are very friendly. I knew I was in Philly territory when I walked in and saw the two large Eagles and Phillies’ flags hanging on the wall. Wow, the inventory of motorcycles at this location had plenty for the eyes and heart to feast on. I was greeted by the helpful staff of good looking ladies behind the counter. Grace Ann, Julie, and Sandi know their stuff, and know how to have a good time. There were members of the Honor Society from the Penn Crest High School armed with paints for anyone willing to transform their face into a work of art. Raffle tickets were sold for a 50/50 to benefit MDA. Outside a DJ was cranking the tunes in the air, while vendors lined the parking lot. There was a swap meet, bike show, and food available among patches, pins, sunglasses, and much more to purchase. By the look of the cycles lined up for pinstriping, Paul, of Design Brilliance, was busy all day with his brush in hand. Rider Insurance, Tri State Media, PA HOG Chapter, and Rolling Thunder PA 1 were also at this open house. I saw many Bikers roll out to participate in Hannum’s traditional “First of the Season Ride” which led through the back roads of Chester County. Be sure to check out their site at www.hannumshd. com Thanks for a fun time. See You in the Fast Lane! Alicia BBA Helfrich York

Where were you? From the Jackpine Gypsies MC,1938 to the Sturgis Roadshow, 2011
I just got back from the Sturgis Bike Rally. How can that be you ask? It’s not until August. Ok, so I didn’t go to Sturgis SD, I went to the Sturgis Roadshow (SRS) in Harrisburg, PA from April 15-17th. From the Black Hills of SD to the rolling hills of PA, this event was special. It was presented by Motoring USA, nice to meet you John Dietrick, and by the Legendary Buffalo Chip, nice to meet you Greg Smith, and the Loud American Roadhouse. The Official host of the Sturgis Roadshow was Drop of Ink Tattoo and Piercing. www. dropofinktattoo.com We pulled in Friday at showtime, 3:00PM. It took several hours for the place to start rockin’. All weekend the Custom Chrome International Bike Show displayed an awesome array of motorcycles. Competitors had to wait until Sunday afternoon for the judging. As I walked down Main street I stood back and watched the bikes roll in. You knew when another rider was cruising into the farm show arena. The rumble was a welcoming sign. Over at the Tattoo Cafe, ink was dropping. It was nice meeting Jamie and his crew from Drop of Ink, who have locations in Mechanicsburg and Shippensburg, PA. Tattoo enthusiasts were seen sitting and laying on chairs and tables while talented artists created that special piece. A “Taste of Tennessee” was felt at the Jack Daniel’s Experience. In addition to touring the mobile museum you could purchase the Old No.7 Brand. I personally had to experience a shot of the new TennesPage 34
see Honey. (Ok, it was more than one shot.) By this time my stomach was talking to me. Steve and I headed to The Loud American Roadhouse. I had previously read the description of the legendary steak tips in the Sturgis Roadshow magazine, and I couldn’t wait any longer to taste these marinated tips that were “lightly breaded and flash fried.” Ok, these steak tips are worth the trip in itself to Sturgis! Tender and tasty. They were orgasmic. All weekend the show had entertainment. The Tropic Beauty girls were strutting their stuff on stage for the Miss Sturgis Roadshow Model search. The Hula girls were seen tempting fans at a shot to keep the hula hoops around their waists. Friday night wrapped up with the boys from Northern California called TESLA. They were fan-tastic, and rocked the house! Saturday was just as exciting. Performances were held throughout the day even with the rain. Artist Scott Jacobs was at this event! I’m still talking about his paintings. Words to describe his artwork are hard to find without placing the “F” adjective in front of jaw dropping, amazing, unbelievable, breath taking, and the list goes on and on. I’m telling you, Scott is extremely gifted. You must check out his website and videos to see for yourself. www.scottjacobsstudio.com This is the first show he displayed the largest collection of his work. I’m told he brought 80 pieces. Page 35
By this time I’m back to the Loud American for more steak tips and alcoholic beverages. It is another day, and hey, it’s a tough job finding the right photo to snap, while making new biker friends. A girl gets hungry and thirsty. One lucky winner’s ticket was pulled to win the SRS Bike. From the suspension to the paint, Eleven different companies from the motorcycle industry helped to build this bike. Just who was this lucky winner? Congratulations to Phil Firth of York. (hey, my hometown!) Phil was a weekend pass holder which qualified him for the drawing. Phil told me Bachman & Turner drew him to the show. He is a huge fan. Phil knew he wanted to enjoy the SRS all weekend so he bought his weekend pass on line in March. Phil’s ticket was actually the second one to be pulled. The first ticket pulled was a no show. You had to be present to win. I spoke to him four days later, and he is still in shock he won the bike. He told me the only thing he ever won was $500 at bingo. Saturday night the Buffalo Chip had top entertainers performing again on stage. Bachman & Turner along with STYX cranked out the music to a crowded arena. There’s nothing like a great concert. Sunday, I think folks were home cleaning up after the horrible rains and flooding from the day before. I was thrilled to meet the famous photographer, Michael Lichter. Michael’s photos tell the true story behind the biker’s lifestyle of motorcycling. This soft spoken man is certainly a powerhouse when it comes to photographing Sturgis. His resume is very impressive. Did you know he was a jazz drummer Page 36
before concentrating on shooting bikers and bikes? He also has ten books to command bragging rights too. As much as I enjoy photographing motorcycles and people myself, I had to purchase Michael’s book called STURGIS with the foreword by Peter Fonda. Michael is a world class photographer in my opinion. Please check out his site. www.lichterphoto.com It was time for the bike show awards ceremony. Competitors were anxiously waiting for the honor to hear their name to be called to the stage. Famous custom bike builder, Dave Perewitz, took to the stage to help with the awards. Dave, it was great seeing you again! (You sure know a good thing when you feel it. My friend’s mobile massage booth enjoyed your company. Thank you.) There were four classes: Championship, Modified Harley, Jammer Old School, and RevTech Performance. Trophies, money, and merchandise was awarded. Judging was “based on a combination of peer group review and industry VIP judges.” Will the Sturgis Roadshow be on the road next year? We all have to wait and see. In the meantime, I keep referring back to my personal note inscribed by Michael, in my book. “For Alicia- It is time to make the journey! See you in the Hills.” I’ll See You in the Fast Lane, or on Main Street Sturgis! Alicia BBA Helfrich York Page 37

MOOD OF THE MOMENT. When it rains it pours. As I write this March 11, Japan has suffered an 9.0 earthquake with 30 foot high tsunami waves. Bali got a 6.5 and reports from Taiwan say the ground is shaking all day and all night. Something like 11% of Japan’s 55 nuclear reactors having radiation problems. This is an Awakening of the Rim of Fire and is a perfect metaphor for Uranus moving into the sign of Aries exactly on that day. This combination of planet and sign is an explosive, reckless energy that affects both planet and personality. When Uranus goes square Pluto, the disruptions and changes intensify. They come within one degree of each other this summer of 2011 and are exactly square each other the summer of 2012. The handwriting has been on the wall for a long time now. The Maya say we are in the 5th World Age. The Hopi say we are in the 4th. It is a natural cycle of civilization. The more advanced we become, the more vulnerable we become. Not a problem, just a fact.
ARIES. You are the power house of the Universe anyway and now you intensify. There are no bounds and there are no limits. This is a most significant time in your life. No compromise and no prisoners taken. You become the person you were born to be or you die in the attempt. Break your bonds and break your chains. Break your routine and break your habits. Break anything that keeps you in a box. Your own Individuality is within your grasp now and you will have the power and resources to carry through. TAURUS. Happy Birthday Beloved. The first stage of your energy during this period is to really, really go deeply, completely into your no-mind unconscious intuition where words and proper nouns have no pull and cannot grab you. Absolutely the best time for meditation in May because in June your energy comes out into the world again in a very loving way. It is a kind of love that shows itself in appreciation for what you have and a forgetfulness for what you have lost. It is a kind of love that is the vital ingredient of the greatest achievement of all achievements…..contentment GEMINI. Also Happy Birthday my smiling friend, the friendliest creature ever born of all human creatures. You are having a problem of abundance. This is such a time of meeting friends for you that you may not have time for them all. Friendship overload. You are the messenger, but the paradox is that this is not the time to know yourself what the message is. Your goals, objectives and purpose are unclear and unknown. No problem. You don’t need to know. Just keep communicating. Keep smiling. Talk to us.
LIBRA. Love comes, love goes. Love stays, love leaves. Love for the many, love for the one. Love comes in all shapes and forms and tastes and all the colors of the rainbow. Sometimes it is so pitch black you cannot see and other times it is so bright you cannot see then either. What to do. Love is always there, but you are not. It is an undefinable, unpredictable, always unexpected quality of life that we are here on this Earth for. This is the story of your life at this time. Relationships become complicated. Uranus opposite your sign for the next 7 years means each person has to relate through their Individuality SCORPIO. The impulse for self perfection is strong inside you now. You have had enough of living stupid in this life and the urge to eliminate your faults and bad habits to uncover the gold is strong in you now. Uranus in your 6th House now indicates the best strategy for eliminating your faults is to not do that. Do not eliminate them. Change them. Use their strengths and advantages in another way, in the right context. Like an opponent in Tai Chi, you use the momentum of their rushing at you to help them go another way.
CANCER. Your life is about achievement and struggle now. Time to work hard, very hard, without much nourishment from the outside. Time to find that power within yourself to climb to the highest peak. Just the foothills will not do. Tackle the impossible and you will feel the touch of it in your hand. Reach for the sky and you will be breathing in the clouds. Fear is not your enemy but gives you strength. Deprivation is not a problem because it shows you the abundance you have forgotten you will always have.
CAPRICORN. Which comes first, the Home or the Work? Your life is about the Work, but you need a Home to do that. Or do you? This is a time to find out how free you can make yourself to follow the work. Jobs are stationary, but The Work is mobile and flowing here and there and then and now. You need to be free to follow your work, not your job. The Work is the most important objective for you now and in the most intense possible way. The joke is that when you finally reach the mountain top, there may or may not be a comfortable place to sit down.
LEO. You have the potential for understanding your higher purpose and the meaningfulness of your life now at this time than at any other. Not a good time to sit at home and turn on the tube. Better time to travel to a far, far place to discover what you carry with you always but cannot see at home. Good idea to take this trip even if you can be gone just a short, short time. Take the ticket and take the trip and get in touch with your beliefs and presumptions. Write them down. Altogether, they point to a single, all encompassing Truth for you. VIRGO. Welcome to the Gap. Mind the Gap please. This is gah gah time as Neptune goes into Pisces opposite your sign. Neptune dissolves everything material that it touches. It dissolves the ego, it dissolves the mind. In everyday life it is called confusion, but what it really is, is a reunification of the spiritual with the source. It is going to be an intense reunification with the primeval sexual energies of all the planets in the 8th House arousing the kundalini and the forces of life energy itself. It is a tantric time. It is a mystical time.
AQUARIUS. It is a communicating, communicating time for you now and learning, learning basic information good for you to know. It is people you talk to who give you this information and the best people to be talking to are your friends and neighbors and and brothers and sisters in your life. Everyone of them is a piece of the puzzle. This is a time for Awareness and Awakening, not Enlightenment. A&A happens in little ways talking, listening to little people who carry a bigger truth than they know. Re-new your connections to these people and see what you find. PISCES. My heart goes out to you Pisces folks. My Capricorn part has always wondered and worried about you making it across a busy street. It seems like you don’t know who you are or where to go or what to say, but somehow you make it through life just fine. Pisces doesn’t have the biggest ego the gods ever made. That is why you have one foot on Earth and one foot in the Other Dimension and you are so incredibly kind. Neptune is the planet ruler of Pisces and Neptune has just gone into Pisces for the first time in 165 years. What is left of your ego melts away during the next 14 years and only All-Is-One is left.
Page 38
SAGITTARIUS. If you weren’t so lucky, you would be dead on a rusty fish hook by now. You have taken so many risks and unknowns in your life and now the planets are saying ‘Do More’. And even though you are a friendly person, you do it alone. Group tours take the spirit out of Adventure and whatever takes the spirit out of Adventure takes the spirit out of you. Your life has always been more than a spiritual journey. It is about having a Spiritual Adventure. Time to take that risk again. No risk, no Adventure.
HUMAN
DESIGN

ASK THE ATTORNEY By: Lee D. Gaber, Esquire 1-888-CYCLE-LAW LeeGaber@cycleattorney.com Given that riding season is finally in bloom, I want to touch on the topic of DWI/DUI as many riders will end up at destinations where alcohol is being served. I feel that it is my duty to inform all of you that the penalties for DUI/DWI are getting harsher and more expensive every year. Though I have written on this topic in the past, it again merits discussion given the .08 limit in most every state. For many of us, this means that two beers or drinks in rapid succession will put us very close to the limit, especially if not ingested with food. While the penalties for a .08 to a .10 may not be terrible in some states, especially if it’s your first offense, two beers often leads to three or four and that’s when we start getting into trouble. The penalties for driving under the influence vary widely from state to state however, in NJ, in most cases, a first offense will trigger a minimum seven (7) month license suspension and fines upwards of $1,000.00 plus attorneys fees. Adding insult to injury, if you are a PA resident charged with DWI while riding in New Jersey, you will not have the opportunity, even if it is your first offense, to utilize the ARD program usually offered to first offenders in PA and in most cases will have your license suspended for one (1) full year in PA. Normally first offenders in PA, not involved in accident, will be eligible for the ARD program which requires drug and alcohol evaluation and fines but rarely a license suspension. However, this program is only available one (1) time, after that, in PA if you are convicted of DUI within the next ten (10) years, you will do a minimum of five (5) days in prison and receive an automatic twelve (12) month license suspension along with extensive fines and penalties. If your blood alcohol is higher than .10 and you are charged with a second offense within a ten (10) year period in PA, the mandatory jail term grows to thirty (30) days, and another one year license suspension. Similarly in New Jersey, Delaware and Maryland, for each subsequent offense, the fines, potential jail time and the license suspensions grow harsher with each offense. Now I know that every one of you reading this column understands that if you are convicted of DWI/DUI, there are penalties. However, experience has taught me that most of the public doesn’t understand how severe the penalties and license suspensions can be. Furthermore, unlike most other criminal offenses, there is very little room to plea bargain on a DUI/DWI, as most states have mandatory fines, jail terms and license suspensions. As a result, many clients are very upset when they learn that they may lose their license for up to a year, even for a first offense. Given that an ounce of prevention is worth a pound of cure, please be careful and if you know you may be drinking, a designated driver is always a great idea!!! I hope you find this information informative and if you would like additional information on this topic, or any other, I can always be reached at LeeGaber@cycleattorney.com or 1-888-CYCLE-LAW (1-888-292-5352). Sincerely, LEE D. GABER, Esquire The one and only, “Cycle Attorney” Page 40

got strep? Know the signs of Pediatric Autoimmune Neuropsychiatric Disorders Associated with Strep
Sometimes when children present with difficult behaviors they are given a mental health diagnosis without considering whether an infection might be the root cause of the disorder. When the child’s behaviors are the result of strep antibodies attacking the basal ganglia of the brain, the condition is known as PANDAS: Pediatric Autoimmune Neuropsychiatric Disorders Associated with Strep. Once the condition is triggered by strep, subsequent exacerbations can be caused by other bacteria or viruses such as the flu. Here are some of the symptoms of PANDAS.
