SUPPORTING OUR NATIONS WARRIORS BY WAYNE “rock” (of the marne) LUTZ
SEPTEMBER 11, 2011 It is hard to believe that this month we mark the 10th Anniversary of the attacks on America that claimed three thousand innocent lives on September 11, 2001. For those of us living in this time, life in American will forever be defined as “before 911” and “after 911.” Our lives, the lives of all of us in this country, changed forever on that beautiful, fateful, sunny, horrible, September morning. Captain Victor Saracini was flying United Airlines flight 175 from Logan International Airport in Boston to Los Angeles. The Boeing 767 was diverted when Islamic terrorists forced their way into the cockpit, killed Saracini and the First Officer, and then deliberately flew into the South Tower of the World Trade Center at 09:03, killing all 65 people aboard and God knows how many in the building. Saracini was from Bucks County, Pennsylvania. His wife, Ellen, was a driving force behind the construction of the only “official” memorial to the 18 Pennsylvania victims of the attacks. The Garden of Reflection was completed and opened to the public in 2008. The Garden of Reflection is a beautiful outdoor construct combining rolling landscape with twin water fountains and teardrop-shaped walkways, with 18 maple trees surrounding the engraved names of the deceased. A large iron piece of the tower is embedded in the drop of the tear, pointing north toward New York. On the 10th of September, the Saturday before the actual anniversary, the Warriors’ Watch Riders will be holding a “Ride of Honor and Remembrance” to commemorate that awful day. The ride will begin at Brian’s Harley Davidson on Route 1 in Langhorne, and will stop at the Garden of Reflection and other points of historic interest in beautiful Bucks County. In the shocking aftermath of that fateful day, Americans everywhere swore that we would, as a nation and a people, “never forget” what was done to us that day. Two wars started, and thousands of American fighting men and women have died in the past ten years fighting to ensure that the terror would never return to American shores. The Ride of Honor and Remembrance will honor all of the victims of 9/11, not only the civilian victims of that day but all of our military who have died since. It is a large, loud, highly-visible demonstration. The roar of 500 V-Twin engines will announce to the world that America Remembers. Ride of Honor and Remembrance: www.rideofreflection.org

humor in the fast lane Compiled by the Chief
All jokes are submitted by our readers. We dont know where they came from or who wrote them. Just enjoy!!
A man is dining in a fancy restaurant and there is a gorgeous redhead sitting at the next table. He has been checking her out since he sat down, but lacks the nerve to talk with her. Suddenly she sneezes, and her glass eye comes flying out of its socket toward the man. He reflexively reaches out, grabs it out of the air, and hands it back.
An old retired sailor puts on his old uniform and heads for the docks once more, for old times’ sake. He engages a prostitute and takes her up to a room.
‘Oh my, I am so sorry,’ the woman says as she pops her eye back in place...
He’s soon going at it as well as he can for a guy his age, but needing some reassurance, he asks, “How am I doing ?”
‘Let me buy your dinner to make it up to you,’ she says.
The prostitute replies, “Well, old sailor, you’re doing about three knots.”
They enjoy a wonderful dinner together, and afterwards they go to the theatre followed by drinks. They talk, they laugh, she shares her deepest dreams and he shares his.. She listens. After paying for everything, she asks him if he would like to come to her place for a nightcap and stay for breakfast. They had a wonderful, wonderful time. The next morning, she cooks a gourmet meal with all the trimmings. The guy is amazed. Everything had been SO incredible! ‘You know,’ he said, ‘you are the perfect woman. Are you this nice to every guy you meet?’ ‘No,’ she replies. . . Wait for it. t’s coming. . The suspense is killing you, isn’t it? She says : ‘You just happened to catch my eye.’

“Three knots?”, he asks. “What’s that supposed to mean?” She says, “You’re knot hard, you’re knot in, and you’re knot getting your money back”.

2011 Harley Davidson Heritage Tour (part 2)
By: Alicia “BBA” Helfrich
Part one of my story was in last months Issue. I had the honor and privilege of riding a short distance, of the last leg, of the 2011 HD Heritage Tour. Story Brief: let me start by mentioning Knighthawk Tours, LLC. Partners, Wayne Block, President; and Jeff Ji, Chief Operating Officer, formed Knighthawk Tours, based in Wayne, PA. This company’s specialty is hosting tours through China, on motorcycles! There first tour occurred in 2008 and was called “Ride to Confucius.” Knighthawk Tours mission statement as quoted from their website. “Our Mission is to provide Harley riders with well planned routes through China that exhibits scenic views, rich cultural history, welcoming people and opportunities to meet local riders. In addition, we plan to expand trips to other areas and provinces in China.” On June 16th, 18 Chinese HD enthusiasts started their 14 day riding tour in the United States on 15 rented Harley Davidson motorcycles. The PA Tourism Office issued the official invitations, and with the sponsorship of Knighthawk Tours and Harley Davidson, their journey began. Carefully planned out, and professionally well coordinated, the experience took these privileged riders to destinations “All Americana.” The majority of these riders are all very successful business people. Their travels in 14 days took them to: Milwaukee, Chicago, Skyline Drive and Harrisonburg, VA; Warsaw, IN; Cleveland, OH; Cooks Forest, Mansfield, Wellsboro, Philadelphia, Harrisburg, York, and Lancaster. Part 2: Joining us at a stop were the Valley Forge and Bucks County H.O.G. Chapters! What a site. John Spittle, of York, led the 50 plus motorcycles, me included, through a portion of Lancaster County, which consisted of riding the plank boards through two covered bridges. The Lancaster ride was cut short due to the rented Harleys having to be returned at Brian’s HD outside of Philadelphia. Time was tight. We pulled along the shoulder of the road and riders took advantage of snacks and beverages before heading east to Philly. This is where John, his wife, Sue and I said our goodbyes to everyone. Everything happened so fast, and before we knew it they rode out of sight, and then there were three. There we were, Sue and I putting our cameras in our saddlebags, as John waited in the distance. I stood there in disbelief. I didn’t want the excitement or the camaraderie to end. I asked Sue, “Please tell me there were a group of Chinese riders and HOG memPage 8
bers here just seconds ago!” I made new friends in the two days of my experience. Though only a few Chinese riders spoke English, our friendship was sealed with hugs, kisses, bowing, sign language thumbs up, and my signature 2 finger peace sign. There are many people too numerous to mention that I came in contact with during this Heritage Tour. I thank all of you! Most importantly I would like to acknowledge and say thank you to Wayne Block, and Jeff Ji of Knighthawk Tours. Your generosity will not be forgotten. Friends; John and Sue Spittle, without your initial email I would have not known about this tour. To Wolf Printing; Greg, thank you for coming through in the final hours, and to Road Captain; David Potter. Your quote to the group: “This is the power of HOG, friendship and brotherhood” will stick with me forever. Dave, great job on leading the group through the journey and destinations. I emailed Jeff asking him for his final thoughts and this is what he had to say: “From Ride to Confucius to HD Heritage Tour 2011, Knighthawk Tours helps to create bondage among HOGs. I am thrilled to be co-organizer. Wayne Block is my partner. He is our President. He plays an instrumental role. We have one common passion, that is riding Harley. I am hoping more riders will join us to ride HD both in US and in China. We are speeding up our efforts to make HD motorcycle available for US riders in China. We will make announcement on our web site soon. All Chinese riders treasure their experience in HD Heritage Tour. They want to express their thanks to US HOGs, media, The Motor Company and many HD Dealers who hosted so warmly for us. Many of them want to come back again. Valley Forge HOG and Beijing HOG formed the 1st International sister HOGs. This is their effort. There are 8 HD Dealers in China. I hope I can find 7 more US HOGs to be the sister HOG’s of China. Thanks again.” One final note: There will be a mini documentary on this Heritage Tour in the very near future. Thanks for the Memories. See You in the Fast Lane! Alicia

I was always old school having only liked Shovels and Pans but after watching new wave builders on TV I thought man I can do that. So I started with a 8 up 4 out 38 degree neck and of course and old school rigid frame from Krafttech. I only had so much money and wanted a modern power train and for the money I went with Revtech 100in. I know very un-American but I did install a Eldebrock Dual 38mm carb set up very American. Just about all assembly was done “In House yea in my kitchen after all what Edmund at Keystone Performance took care of wiring and brakes and a lot of my dumb questions. Just kept it clean and simple after 6yrs. on the road it still turns heads and gets my blood pumping. See you the road-----DCZ

Temperatures over 100 degrees on Friday (high 102, low 81), “put a hurt’in” on the attendance of the Carlisle Bike Fest. I’ve been riding to this event for six years, taking the Friday off of work, and hitting the three day event. I can not tell a lie. It was a ghost town on opening day. It was a darn shame, because Carlisle Events put on a great fest, and the vendors hope to sell their goods. There wasn’t much action this day. Most of the people were trying to keep cool under their tents with their fans, and there were cooling stations set up around the fairgrounds as well. Saturday was a different story with the temperature a few degrees cooler. (high 97, low 78) The grounds were filling up with bikes as they lined up at the gates to get in. The 10th Annual fest didn’t disappoint us. The weekend line up of festivities included the stunt team, StarBoyz, Biker Billy whipping up his cooking creations, Live music as bands performed on the grandstand stage, and world champion Frisbee dogs were showing off their high flying stunts too. The bike ride-in show awarded 1st, 2nd, & 3rd place winners in more than 25 classes. Riders were seen taking demo rides on Star, Victory, Yamaha, Suzuki, and Kawasaki cycles. Did you register to win one of two motorcycles? Saturday a 2010 Kawasaki Ninja 250R was awarded, and Sunday a 2011 Nightster went to another lucky winner. Garage-Girls’, Sara Liberte, presented the Ultimate Biker Makeover to the Grand prize winner, Pat Henderson, and Runner-up, Mary Pinkerton. These winners were 2 of 30 people who entered this Ultimate Biker Makeover. Riding apparel, cleaning products, and motorcycle accessories were awarded to these two lucky ladies. Visit www.garage-girls.com to read their winning stories and list of prizes. The Rat Rod Revival, a swap meet, biker games, burnout contest, the Miss Carlisle Bike Fest contest, Industry guest speakers, seminars, and much much more were part of all the excitement. Despite the heat, which I love, Carlisle Bike Fest was another great year, and I’m glad I could be apart of it. If you missed this year, plan on riding your motorcycle to next year’s fest from July 20-22, 2012. See you there, AND.... See You in the Fast Lane! BBA Helfrich York

Hunter Fest
Yvette Leisenring is a strong individual. She stood on the stage telling her brief story about her son’s child abuse at his young age of 2 ½, when a man she was dating abused Hunter, her son. Hunter now lives with his handicap as Shaken Baby Syndrome affects his physical and mental being. Yvette speaks openly about child abuse and neglect, because she “wants to help others to see the signs to prevent this from happening to other children.” Hunter is now 11 years old, and he’s a Hoot! His smile and laughter warm your heart. As I was being introduced to him, he decided he wanted me to hold his leg brace. In exchange, I gave him some “Watch for Motorcycle” stickers. He lit up like a neon sign. What a great spirit he exuded. Let me back up a few hours before, where Hunter Fest Cycle Cruise started at Hooter’s on route 30 in York. There I met Jared, Godfather to Hunter, Nick, Taylor, Brian, Ricker, Lonnie, Rhonda, Rick, Ryan, Eric, and Joleene. This group of riders braved the dark clouds and sprinkles as they left the parking lot. The event was rain or shine. The destination was Naylor’s winery in Stewartstown. The $15.00 admission, along with all proceeds, went to child abuse and neglect. This was the third annual, and this year the proceeds were being shared with The Lehman’s Center, and Penn State Hershey Medical Center Shaken Baby Syndrome.
After I met Hunter and his mother I met Kristen, Jared’s wife, and Hunter’s Godmother, along with their two children. Wow what a fest. The sun came out and it got hot. There were activities for all ages. You could really see the enormous effort that was put into this great cause. Local bands, games, face painting, a karate demo, bounce houses, a dunk tank, vendors, food, a silent auction, raffles, a beer truck, and more were at every turn on the winery property. Several covered pavilions kept everyone cool. The list of donations from businesses and individuals was over 100. See for yourself at www.hunterfest.com In addition to meeting many great kids and adults I was introduced to “Squeeze”, a 90lb. 13’ Albino Burmese Python. (At full size he will reach 120lbs, 15’.) You don’t want to miss next year’s fest! Yvette’s spirit is just as bright as her son Hunter. She told me “I’m hoping it (the fest) gets bigger and bigger every year. I’m disappointed the weather scared people away, but next year is another year.” Thank you all for brightening my day! See You in the Fast Lane. Alicia

By: Alicia “BBA” Helfrich DRIVE RIGHT Motorcycle & Car Show
August 6th was a rainy day in York, Pa. This didn’t stop Steve and me, among other car and cycle enthusiasts from attending DRIVE RIGHT’s semi annual Motorcycle & Car Show. Many people were seen with their umbrellas, even the little ones. Vendors, tattoo artists, a live band, and more were at the DRIVE RIGHT location on S. George Street. A block away at Morgan’s House of Twins, the A-Team performed their stunts. Cars and bikes also lined up at the burnout pit, and made some hellish smoke and noise while shredding their tires. Craig Albright, owner of DRIVE RIGHT, has three locations in York. He hopes to attract even more people at the next event. He told me vendors are welcome to free spaces. (Thanks again for the shirts Craig.) This show also offered a 50/50 and raffle to benefit cancer and Transveres Myelitis. Are you looking for a car or cycle in the York area? By: Alicia “BBA” Helfrich Hagerstown MD Bike Week
JULY 14-17TH Every once in awhile my motorcycle and I head “across the border.” That would be Maryland. Living just 20 miles North of the Maryland Line, I like to check out some bike events in that State too. On July 16+17 I met some of my Maryland friends and we rode to Hagerstown Bike Week known as “The Best of the West.” The official welcome centers for this bike week, which was a four day event, were Barefoot Bernie’s, Cancun Cantina West, and Hager Hall. Among other taverns, pubs, and restaurants, Hager Hall’s Conference Center was where most of the action was found. Inside and out, the festivities were non-stop. Custom bikes, vendors, motorcycle gear, Live music, and the official bike week tanks, T’s and thongs were abundant. A tattoo and piercing parlor, outdoor beer garden, and fashion show were part of the line up as well. I purchased my official Hagerstown Bike Week tank top and pin to add to my collection, especially since this was the first annual! Drink and food specials were offered all day and into the night. My friends spoiled me which made for an even wonderful, memorable time. Thank you Jabo and JV. It was an unbelievable surprise when I ran into a girlfriend from Lancaster, PA in the ladies room. (You can imagine the giddiness that went on at the bathroom stall.) This was an unexpected biker bash that wasn’t on my summer agenda, BUT isn’t that what it’s all about? Get out, enjoy the ride, explore, and you will find a fun time! See You in the Fast Lane! Alicia BBA Helfrich York, PA

MOOD OF THE MOMENT. We are the 24th species of human being that we know about and new ones are being discovered all the time. We are the only one left standing and we don’t know why the others disappeared and became extinct. We are not the best, not the smartest, and not the peak of evolution. The human brain has been shrinking for ten thousand years. Neanderthal and Cro-Magnon had bigger brains than us. The Boskops of 10,000 BC had childlike faces and a 2000 cc brain with an estimated IQ of 180 (Wechsler IQ tests don’t go beyond 145). Thousands and thousands of cultures and civilizations have come and gone. Maybe only 2% do we know about and only 2% of those have been excavated 2%. What has been gained has been lost over and over again. The seas have risen and fallen and mountains too. The Pluto-Uranus square that started at the time of Fukushima will peak in 2013. The next time you feel the ground shake beneath your feet, you may look around you and ponder the impermanence of all things. Now, what was it you said you wanted in life? Freedom. You have got to have it. Freedom From authority or control. Freedom To explore every opportunity and to see how green the grass is on the other side of the fence. Freedom-From security or relationship. Freedom-To be whoever or whatever you want to be when you want to be it. Freedom-From fear. FreedomTo go beyond your own limitations. Uranus-Pluto time. There comes this incredible urge to get out of the box. The paradox is that the instructions on how to get out of the box are written on the outside of the box. You are supposed to be comfortable. It is correct for you. This is a period of abundance for you and good feelings about yourself. The fog of where to go and what to do has lifted and if you look around you now, you can appreciate what you have got. It is enough. You can be content. This is how you become comfortable, to appreciate, to be content, and to feel good about yourself. The juice is being with children now. Maybe being the wise ole story teller or being a child again yourself is the way. Maybe contacting that part of you that is always eternally innocent. Well, first thing to say is to maybe put some attention on your spending habits. Tendency now to impulse buying or more than usual outflow. The more important thing to say is that the more you learn, the less it is going to make sense. Hard to put it together and make meaning out of it all. The more you talk, the less you will be understood. The more you listen, the less you will hear. It is a time of strong curiosity for you. You have to know and yet you do and yet you don’t. The paradox is that a little guardian angel is guiding you through all this. Well, well, well, aren’t we moody today. Best thing is to go out and spend some money on yourself and get into a shopping satori. You tend to be too cheap on yourself. Always saving for a rainy day so much it would take a monsoon typhoon to loosen up those tight pockets of yours. Take yourself for a date, splurge on yourself, treat yourself to the goodies of life that life is for. Your natural inclination for security can sometimes make you a little bitchy. Let go and let loose. Security doesn’t work too well in a world like this any way. Spend the money and enjoy. It is not the last. There will be more.
What to say. Hard, crazy times are sometimes hard, sometimes crazy, sometimes both. Into everybody’s life a little rain must fall. The question now is if it is acid rain or bird pee. Now is a time when you tend to be too hard on yourself, to blame yourself for what others do, to be self critical and fault finding with yourself. It is okay to get into this space. It has its value. But don’t linger. Get into this space, get the facts and get out into another space of forgiveness and tolerance. Love yourself anyway. You deserve to be here as much as the trees and mountains. The more you share, the more you receive. This is a people relating time now. Time to be friendly to others and to let others be friendly to you. This includes partners and lovers particularly. Remembering to be romantic is good. Remembering to be generous is good. Showing your vulnerability and letting yourself receive are good. Coming closer to the other is coming closer to yourself. The time is ripe to feel joyousness in the presence of the other. The paradox is that the more you expand, the eternal question arises, “Is it better to give love or to be loved?” There is more juice for you now in washing the dishes and cleaning out the closet than in contemplating the meaning of the universe. Chunk down. Pay attention to the little things of daily life. Use your microscope and put your telescope to the side for awhile. Remember the story, “Master, what did you do before enlightenment?” “I chopped the wood and carried the water,” the Master said. “Master, what do you do after enlightenment?” “I chop the wood and carry the water,” the Master said. It is the ordinary that you don’t see any more that is the most extraordinary of all. Capricorn is about time. We have run out of time. Capricorn is the builder. The whole infrastructure needs replacing, the aging bridges, the rotting pipes leaking methane beneath the city streets, the aging nuc plants. Capricorn is about making a plan. Disinformation and changing presumptions make that impossible. Capricorn is valuable for the building of civilization, but is at a loss when it is falling down. This is a time when you cannot rely upon anything outside of yourself even more than before. The juice for you now is to learn how to play.
Go for it. Strike while the iron is hot. The time is right and the stars are with you. Put your energy into it. Follow your plan, honor your ambitions, and respect your ego. Be a little self centered about it, because once you have what you want it, you tend to be very generous about it. We all benefit by your self centeredness. Your job is to go out and get it and then to share it with others. Beautiful. We love you for it. One strategy in all of this is to associate with those who already have what you want and that puts you in the window of opportunity. Somehow it rubs off.
You already know. You already know what you need to know. The trouble you get into is trying to explain it to yourself or others. Mars going into Leo opposite your sign indicates others get angry with you for no good reason I can understand. You are not competitive. You are not angry or greedy or arrogant. You are deep within your subjectivity and you have found a truth which cannot be explained or understood with words. Loads of planets coming into the 9th House. Good time to be a professor or to travel to a far far place to hear a guru say what you already know
Happy Birthday Beloved. The paradox now is that all of that analytical good-boy thinking and accumulation of facts and techniques has led you to a point where all of it becomes kind of mystical. Think you have been mystical and dreamy before? You ain’t seen nothing yet. The big dream is on its way. Neptune transit is coming. The solid ground beneath your feet dissolves away, but somehow you are able to walk on water. Save your pennies, save the most you can, and then use those savings to take the long journey to the Garden of Eden that calls to you.
You are so precious. If anyone is kind and caring and remembers peoples’ birthdays and give little thoughtful gifts, it is you. It is because you are born without much ego. It is so you can melt and blend with the other without the ego getting in the way. Your life is about love, not about materialism that keeps us apart. Your life is about surrender to the cosmos and all that is. Neptune entering Pisces now dissolves the ego even more. You become part of everything except where you are. Good to have friends and partners that love you and protect you. You are precious and worthy of all the love we can return.

ASK THE ATTORNEY By: Lee D. Gaber, Esquire 1-888-CYCLE-LAW LeeGaber@cycleattorney.com
This months’ column is different from my previous columns in that I am choosing to be a little more self-indulgent. I simply want to share with you the trip I just experienced wherein my wife and I spent a week traveling through Italy. For those of you who have had an opportunity to visit Italy you know what a beautiful country it is and for those who may have an opportunity to go, I would encourage you to do so. To tour the Vatican, see the Sistine Chapel and walk through the coliseum is an experience that I will never forget. What amazed me most about the Vatican was the sheer amount of artwork and of course the paintings by Michelangelo. These paintings need to be seen to be fully appreciated. The other aspect that I found amazing was the unbelievable number of motor-scooters. In both Florence and Rome, there were at least as many scooters as there were cars, however, surprisingly few motorcycles of any make or model. Virtually every street has scooters parked side-byside in every possible spot. Unfortunately, I am not sure there are any rules of the road in Rome or Florence with the exception of, if it appears as though you can squeeze your car or scooter into a space to beat out the vehicle next to you, you do it! I don’t think I would ever attempt to drive a car or motorcycle in these cities. On a more relevant topic, I am a member of a chat-room called “Biker or Not” which is a social networking website for Bikers. I have found some very relevant information on this site that would be of benefit to many of you. Most recently there was a discussion about insurance and the appropriate price to pay. Some were complaining they were paying too much, and some were bragging about how little they were paying. However, I failed to read any discussion about the type of coverage one should have and the importance of the coverage. It seemed that most were concerned simply with the cost. For those of you who read my columns on a regular basis, you know that I am a huge advocate of purchasing as much insurance for your motorcycle that you can reasonably afford. Although nobody likes to pay insurance premiums, if you are going to spend a couple of hundred dollars for insurance you might as well spend a few bucks more and make sure that you have the coverage you need if and when you ever need it. So as part of this discussion, I put in my two cents stating that while price is always important, the types and limits of coverage you purchase should be the primary concern when purchasing motorcycle, or any other, insurance. I am not going to go into the specifics of coverages in this column as I have stated my preferences many times before, however, I want to reiterate that when purchasing new motorcycle insurance, or switching companies, the price of the coverage should NEVER be your primary factor. Given the tough economic times, every one is looking to save money but the cost difference between a minimal policy and a policy that provides decent coverage, can often be as little as $4-$8.00 a month. For many bikers that ride motorcycles costing $10-$25,000, an extra $4-$8 dollars a month shouldn’t put too much of a dent in anyone’s wallet.
In closing I would like to add that we will be making an appearance at the Diversified Riders Block Party and BBQ on August 27th in Ambler, PA and then at Lansdale Bike Night on Saturday, September 10, 2011. Should you attend either of these events, please look for our booth and stop by to say hello! I hope you find this information informative and if you would like additional information on this topic, or any other, I can always be reached at LeeGaber@cycleattorney.com or 1-888-CYCLE-LAW (1-888-292-5352). Hot Potato Salad with Bacon Submitted by: jammiej, Pa. Ingredients: 6-8 even-sized waxy potatoes; pinch salt; 4 slices Canadian bacon, diced; 1 onion; 2/3 cup of white wine vinegar; 2/3 cup of water or beef broth; 3 tablespoons of sour cream (poptional); Salt and pepper; 2 tablespoons of chopped parsley Directions: Boil the potatoes in their skins in lightly-salted water to cover. When they are just tender, drain, and peel while still hot. Cut into thin slices and place in a serving dish. Fry the bacon in a large skillet. Meanwhile, mince the onion. Once the bacon is pale golden, add the onion and continue to sauté slowly, until transparent but not brown. Remove the pan from the heat, and gradually pour in the vinegar and the water or broth. Bring to boil and remove from the heat. Stir in the sour cream, if using, and pour the mixture over the potatoes. Lift the potatoes so that the dressing runs over them evenly. Sprinkle with salt, pepper and parsley. Serve immediately
