Bikes and a Baseball Stadium – What do they have in common? Bike Night in York, once a month, on Friday nights, that’s what. On April 9th many of us braved the 50 degree temperature and entered the bike show held at the Sovereign Ban Stadium presented by the York Motorcycle Club. ing temperature tells me to bundle up! This is exactly what Steve and I did, before meeting some friends, and heading West to Battlefield Harley Davidson’s annual Blessing of the Bikes. As I left the event and rode home with my friends I felt prouder then I had in a long time to be an American. God Bless the USA and thanks .to Barbs Harley-Davidm a co Flbp 42 son and all the people who made this ride possible! Later I checked with Barb's H-D to get my facts right. The money raised form this event, $30.00 per person and the Page 19 numerous corporate sponsors who participate is split between the Burlington County Military Affairs and The Phila-
My buddies had been telling me for 3 years, you've got to check out this ride The Armed Forces Freedom ride. They raved about riding on a flight line at McGuire Air Force Base then going right into a party at Fort Dix. Being an old Army guy and serving our country for 8 years got me thinking about all the deployed Military men and women and wanting to show my support I got up early on Sunday morning and headed to Barbs Harley-Davidson. I had been to Barb's before and the ride is normally over an hour but on a Sunday morning it only took me under an hour. When I arrived about 8:30 the first I thing I saw form far away was a hug American flag hanging from the ladders of two fire trucks. Right away I felt patriotic. There were Camden County HOG 8 members directing me a huge Fl binto pa . c olot m already filled with hundreds of bikes. After I parked, I made my way into the dealership. There was cool music playing, Army Hummers lined up, and the bikes were rolling in one after another in groups of 8,10,12. Right away I knew this was something different, the vibe was just there! I went inside to sign up for the ride and there was a long line of people ahead of me so I decided to check out some new gloves. I saw the owner of Barbs talking with some people so I went over to tell her hello and ask if she might have some pull getting me signed-up. She introduced me to a 3 Star General, Ron Coleman, a former Marine who was having his picture taken and who also had a line of people waiting to shake his hand. I was impressed, asked Barb to take a picture and email it to me, she did. I signed up and got back outside. The crowd had grown so big I just stood there and watched the bikes roll in. Walking back to my bike I stopped and shook hands with three of the Flyers Alumni players. They were handing out Flyers bandanas and since the team is the playoffs the crowd swarmed them. you would have thought they were giving out free beer. Beings that I'm more of a football fan I did shake hands with former eagle’s player, Jon Runyun who also came rolling up ion the crowd. I found my friends but, at this point the place was packed, the bikes were lined up between cones and there was no way we could get our bikes together. We got in the food line for some breakfast then forced our way back into the store. My friends did the right thing and signed up ahead of time but the employees were struggling at this point to keep up with the more then 600 people who decided to wait until the last minute.

Back outside ceremonies were starting. First the Pledge of Allegiance was said then we were introduced to the 3 Star General, several Colonel's from McGuire Air Force Base, a commander Sergeant Major form Fort Dix and some volunteers who helped organize the ride. There was a blessing of the bikes, the General and the Colonel's spoke to the crowd and barb gave us all a thank you for supporting the troops. Kickstands went up just after 10 am and the parade of approximately 1200 motorcycles started. Led by State and local Police along with two Army Hummers and the Generals car. Every bike rode out under the hanging flag, there were people lining the streets waving flags and cheering us on. The DJ was playing "Born in the USA", any red blooded American had to be proud to be part of this ride. Every traffic light, intersection and entrance on RT. 295 was blocked by Police motorcycles or cars. There were people on overpasses taking pictures and jumping up and down to get our attention. We made our way through Mount Holly where there was more of the same. Now came the best part. We rode through the main gate at McGuire Air Force Base, around a circle where the bikes split then joined back together on the other side. Then we rode down and air strip and unto a flight line. There were military planes all around us. We rode for a few miles then the 500 or so bikes that were in front of me did a turn and started riding the opposite way on a second flight line directly across form me.

ASK THE ATTORNEY By: Lee D. Gaber, Esquire 1-888-CYCLE-LAW LeeGaber@cycleattorney.com Let me begin this month’s column by wishing everyone a very Happy and Healthy 2011. I have been receiving some calls regarding the new “ObamaCare” and what it means? Truth be told, I don’t think it’s clear as to exactly what is included in the new bill. However, one of the benefits effective January 1, 2011, is that children of participants in group health plans are now eligible to remain as dependents through at least age twenty six. There are other changes that will also become effective in January and I recommend that you ask your insurance company for a list of any and all changes. You may find some changes to be helpful, while others may have a negative impact and should be addressed before finding yourself in a position where the change could be detrimental. On another note, like many of you, I am covered by an HMO and I recently received an update advising me of a “Guest Membership” clause in my policy. Prior to this notice, I had never even heard of “Guest Memberships”. However, for those of you who have children on your plan, but they are living away from home, i.e. attending college or for some other reason, understanding a “guest membership” is important. Simply put, guest membership is a temporary courtesy enrollment in another HMO plan that allows members living away from home, to receive the full range of benefits from the HMO plan covering the geographical area they are living in. This is an important issue because most people are not aware that many health plans, including almost all HMO’s, have a limited geographical area in which they will allow you to seek hospitalization or medical benefits. For instance, I found out that my HMO only allows me to seek medical care, without special permission, if the care is provided within a five county area contiguous with the county in which I live. Apparently, if I require treatment outside of this area, I must receive special permission prior to receiving care, in order to have my bills paid for by my primary HMO. By signing up for this benefit in advance your dependents will avoid the need to seek permission for their medical care to be paid for by your primary health carrier. Those of you who regularly read my column know, I am a strong advocate of full insurance coverage. Additionally, I also advocate full disclosure to your insurance companies of all factors both positive and negative, before you purchase insurance. This way, if you ever need to present a claim, your insurance company will not be able to deny benefits based upon some obscure fact that you failed to disclose prior to purchasing the coverage. I would much rather disclose any negative facts prior to the purchase of a policy and deal with the ramifications then, rather than have an insurance company attempt to deny a claim based on a non-disclosed fact. I hope you find this information informative and if you would like additional information on this topic, or any other, I can always be reached at LeeGaber@cycleattorney.com or 1-888-CYCLE-LAW (1888-292-5352).

Thunder in the Valley速 Roars Through Johnstown FLBPa.com / SePtemBer 2010
What do you do on 102 acres?
You walk around the annual summer Carlisle Bike Fest at the Carlisle fairgrounds. That's just what thousands of Bikers did the weekend of July 23-25. This is another bike event that falls on my list of the top three "must attend" motorcycle events. This show had plenty to feed your appetite for motorcycles, and much more. Tradition has it that my girlfriend, Angie, and I take the first day off from work, the Friday of the three day event. We saddle up and hit the road early in the morning to get that front field parking, because we always find ourselves back at our bikes to unload our goodies we purchased. Saturday, we invite our husbands and friends to join us, but Friday is our day to shop, and meet people for hours. It's an all day affair, and we look forward to it every year. Demo rides were popular. I watched Kawasaki, Yamaha, and Victory round up the riders and off they went. Page 20

The 13th annual Thunder in
the Valley took place in beautiful downtown Johnstown, PA on June 24th through the 27th. During the four days of this nationally known rally, bikers flooded the streets of Johnstown from all over the country, with visitors from as far away as California. Visitors even enjoyed free live music, foods from vendors from across the state, and of course the abundance of motorcycle gear and accessories. Some of the bands that preformed at this years rally included the ever popular Mini Kiss, who just recently stared in a nation wide Dr. Pepper commercial with KISS. Other bands

Week e k i B a v r Delma LAMAPALOOZA
So what does this mean? The definition is: Latin American Motorcycle Association Celebration. And WOW, what a celebration it was. LAMA York held it’s 10th Anniversary Lamapalooza at the Local 1872 UAW on September 4th. I was there, and so were a few hundred other bikers too. 010 e r 2 The areas covered, I was told, are: Bethlehem, Harriso Balone. There are seven chapters of the LAMAS oinc tPA / m o c burg, Lancaster, Philadelphia,BPoconos, Reading, and York. a. FL P As I enjoyed meeting and making new friends among the crowd, I found myself reading plates from many States. I saw tags from Florida, Illinois, Maryland, New Jersey, and New York. I was invited to the Reading 8 Page Chapter’s 1st annual open house the next day. Unfortunately, I had another commitment. I ‘m sure that would have been a hell of a good time too. The LAMAS know how to through a party. Music heard throughout the grounds by the DJ made the event all the more fun. Many members busted their butts preparing fabulous food for such a large gathering. (I have a hard time cooking for two. Good thing I wasn’t in the kitchen. By the way..... I bought a new helmet sticker that day that reads “ I Don’t Cook, Who Cares.”) This Celebration was held from 12 noon until 11:00PM. Mark your calendars for next year if you want to join a fun motorcycle event. You have all day to get there. Some real close competition at the bike games was wildly amusing to witness. Trophies were awarded as well as door prizes. 1st place: A 6x12 Landscape Trailer 2nd place: A Vizio 32” flat screen TV See You in the Fast Lane! 3rd place: An Olympus camera 4th place: A Canon DVD camcorder Alicia “BBA” Helfrich 5th place: $100.00 York 6th pace: $75.00 7th place: $50.00 Page 22 FLBPa.com / octoBer 2010 Page 36

On Saturday, October 9th, by 10:15am riders were on their way for a beautiful ride through the countryside of York and Lancaster counties. The ride included two State parks, river views, and plenty of fall foliage. Food, poker hands, and a silent auction were waiting for the bikers at Kline's Run Park, along the river, in Wrightsville after the ride. Oasis of Hope is "a faith-based safe house specifically designed to restore lives and build life/occupational skills for victims of domestic minor sex trafficking” Debbie Colton, the Founder of Oasis of Hope, and Tracy Hagen Powell, and the 45 people who attended rose over $2200.00 with all the proceeds used to build and open the Oasis of Hope House. The house will be built in a secluded part of northern PA. U.S. Assistant DA, Gordon Zubrod spoke about "Realities of Local Busts and Needs." Another speaker was Nancy Winston, Director of Shared Hope International. www.sharedhope. org This benefit sure opened my eyes, and dismissed my ignorance of human trafficking. This doesn't just happen in "other" countries. It's going on right here in the United States of America. Yes, your daughters are, and can be victims of this horrific business.

SCOPE OF THE PROBLEM: (Taken from the National Report on Domestic Minor Sex Trafficking) * At least 100,000 children are used in prostitution every year in the United States. * The average age of entry into prostitution is 13 years old. * Prostituted girls are often controlled by a pimp who recruits them into sex trafficking by posing as a boyfriend, caretaker, and protector. * The three primary manifestations of child sex traffickingin America are: pimp-controlled prostitution, familial prostitution, and/or survival sex. Story & Photos by Alicia (BBA) Helfrich
After the Hershey Toy Run I saddled up my horse with my overnight bag in tow, and rode directly to Philadelphia. I did mention it was Toy Run season, right? I reached Philly by 6 pm, checked in and got my directions in order for Sunday, November 7th, 30th Annual Delaware Valley ABATE Toy Run. I’m having difficulty with words trying to describe this event which had thousands of bikers participating. This has to be my most memorable ride to date. I’ve seen overflowing fields of cycles in my time, but the sea of bikes that lined up for the escorted route on Columbus Blvd. and Spring Garden streets was breathtaking! I met riders who rode in alone, and riders who came in, let me say groups, and not packs, for this cause. This Toy Run has the reputation as “America’s Largest Rolling Toy Run.” Santa Claus and the Philly Phanatic were among many who led the parade to The Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia. (CHOP) Arriving atP CHOP had me thinking of how Page 10 FLB a . c o mand / D seeing e c e m B the e r children 2010
