LITTLE COMETS DIGIPAK ANALYSIS
This is the front cover of the digipak for an indie rock band, Little Comets. unconventionally the name of the band isn’t on the front cover of this, but being a fan of the band the design of this allowed me to recognise that it was by Little Comets. The image on the front of this is atypical as it doesn't include an image of the band. It simply includes an image that they have used in previous merchandise and tours which is why it is recognisable for the fans. The only text on the front of the digipak is the name of the album ‘Life is Elsewhere’. They have used a hand writing style font which represents their individual style of music. The image of the cut out paper is unique and adds a 3D effect to the front cover. The background image is monochrome meaning the small lines of colour within the paper stand out well.
Here is the inside of the digipak, and the insert along side the CD itself. You can see that they have carried through the same monochrome colour scheme as well as the handwriting style font. The font has childish connotations but also implies that the design has been made by the band themselves, which makes the audience feel connected. They have also used the same paper cut out on the front of the insert to the front cover of the digipak. This shows they’re following through a theme. The insert adds a range of images to the digipak as there aren’t any on the actual inside. They have kept to a minimalist theme within the digipak, by only including white text against a black background.
