Ever since then, these restaurant managers, chefs, head cooks and other business professionals have added rich flavors to the menus of multiple local establishments and hospitality businesses. LC offers a Certificate I in Culinary Arts and an Associate in Applied Science Degree in Culinary Arts. Throughout the 60-credit hour/two-year program, students can also earn their one-year certificate in Culinary Arts. Their Culinary Arts Program provides students with the knowledge of basic food preparation, sanitation, hospitality, nutrition, and meal-planning skills needed for working in the culinary field.
Students in advanced courses are guided to learn about international cuisine, buffet theory and production, hospitality supervision, management of food production and services, as well as principles of food and beverage. In an effort to change the student’s future career in the food business, the program requires all students to complete a final culinary practicum course that serves as a capstone of the entire learning experience. The course serves as an internship opportunity that prepares students for the rigors of their impending careers, while providing them with the knowledge and skills necessary to thrive in the culinary business. The future gourmet students are also able to collaborate with college administrators to plan and develop services for special events. If you enjoy making exquisite food or desire to specialize in the culinary field, join the Laredo College Culinary Arts Program this upcoming 2019 Spring Semester.
