SuperSpine
The Aim of this project is to enhance campus life for students, pedestrian experience on-site, public realm and the University of South Australia’s identity by implementing street scapes, green courts and attractive vertical campus building. The location of the potential area for future superblocks is highlighted in the masterplan. The campus buildings will remain the same as it is. Additionally, some chosen locations will be replaced with high rise academic buildings as part of an expansion of the present university campus that would combine Magill and City East campuses with City West campus. The future expansion of the campus will focus on four areas which we can relate from the masterplan. Green spaces and buffer spaces will be made available with each proposed building. Second, more trees will be planted throughout the streets within the superblock to prevent cars from entering the site rather than using bollards where there is no car zone. In addition, one thirds of Hindley Street will become a car-free area where students may host events like O’week or University club gatherings and that space as carnival or festive space. whereas rest of the Hindley st will act as time-based activity zone.
