DonaldTrump’s NewTeam Going Home For the Holidays?

blue By NADEEN HASID

YOU MATTER AND SO DOES YOUR HEALTH

That’s why starting and staying on HIV-1 treatment is so important.

What is DESCOVY ? ®

DESCOVY is a prescription medicine that is used together with other HIV-1 medicines to treat HIV-1 in people 12 years and older. DESCOVY is not for use to help reduce the risk of getting HIV-1 infection. DESCOVY combines 2 medicines into 1 pill taken once a day. Because DESCOVY by itself is not a complete treatment for HIV-1, it must be used together with other HIV-1 medicines.

DESCOVY does not cure HIV-1 infection or AIDS. To control HIV-1 infection and decrease HIV-related illnesses, you must keep taking DESCOVY. Ask your healthcare provider if you have questions about how to reduce the risk of passing HIV-1 to others. Always practice safer sex and use condoms to lower the chance of sexual contact with body fluids. Never reuse or share needles or other items that have body fluids on them.

What are the other possible side effects of DESCOVY? Serious side effects of DESCOVY may also include: • •

Changes in body fat, which can happen in people taking HIV-1 medicines.

Changes in your immune system. Your immune system may get stronger and begin to fight infections. Tell your healthcare provider if you have any new symptoms after you start taking DESCOVY. Kidney problems, including kidney failure. Your healthcare provider should do blood and urine tests to check your kidneys. Your healthcare provider may tell you to stop taking DESCOVY if you develop new or worse kidney problems. Bone problems, such as bone pain, softening, or thinning, which may lead to fractures. Your healthcare provider may do tests to check your bones.

IMPORTANT SAFETY INFORMATION

The most common side effect of DESCOVY is nausea. Tell your healthcare provider if you have any side effects that bother you or don’t go away.

DESCOVY may cause serious side effects:

What should I tell my healthcare provider before taking DESCOVY?

What is the most important information I should know about DESCOVY? •

Buildup of an acid in your blood (lactic acidosis), which is a serious medical emergency. Symptoms of lactic acidosis include feeling very weak or tired, unusual muscle pain, trouble breathing, stomach pain with nausea or vomiting, feeling cold (especially in your arms and legs), feeling dizzy or lightheaded, and/or a fast or irregular heartbeat.

Serious liver problems. The liver may become large and fatty. Symptoms of liver problems include your skin or the white part of your eyes turning yellow (jaundice); dark “tea-colored” urine; light-colored bowel movements (stools); loss of appetite; nausea; and/or pain, aching, or tenderness on the right side of your stomach area. You may be more likely to get lactic acidosis or serious liver problems if you are female, very overweight, or have been taking DESCOVY for a long time. In some cases, lactic acidosis and serious liver problems have led to death. Call your healthcare provider right away if you have any symptoms of these conditions. Worsening of hepatitis B (HBV) infection. DESCOVY is not approved to treat HBV. If you have both HIV-1 and HBV and stop taking DESCOVY, your HBV may suddenly get worse. Do not stop taking DESCOVY without first talking to your healthcare provider, as they will need to monitor your health.

All your health problems. Be sure to tell your healthcare provider if you have or have had any kidney, bone, or liver problems, including hepatitis virus infection. All the medicines you take, including prescription and over-the-counter medicines, vitamins, and herbal supplements. Other medicines may affect how DESCOVY works. Keep a list of all your medicines and show it to your healthcare provider and pharmacist. Ask your healthcare provider if it is safe to take DESCOVY with all of your other medicines. If you are pregnant or plan to become pregnant. It is not known if DESCOVY can harm your unborn baby. Tell your healthcare provider if you become pregnant while taking DESCOVY. If you are breastfeeding (nursing) or plan to breastfeed. Do not breastfeed. HIV-1 can be passed to the baby in breast milk.

You are encouraged to report negative side effects of prescription drugs to the FDA. Visit www.fda.gov/ medwatch, or call 1-800-FDA-1088. Please see Important Facts about DESCOVY, including important warnings, on the following page.

Ask your healthcare provider if an HIV-1 treatment that contains DESCOVY® is right for you.

What is TRUVADA for PrEP (Pre-exposure Prophylaxis)?

uYou may be more likely to get lactic acidosis or serious liver problems

TRUVADA is a prescription medicine that can be used for PrEP to help reduce the risk of getting HIV-1 infection when used together with safer sex practices. This use is only for adults who are at high risk of getting HIV-1 through sex. This includes HIV-negative men who have sex with men and who are at high risk of getting infected with HIV-1 through sex, and malefemale sex partners when one partner has HIV-1 infection and the other does not. Ask your healthcare provider if you have questions about how to prevent getting HIV-1. Always practice safer sex and use condoms to lower the chance of sexual contact with body fluids. Never reuse or share needles or other items that have body fluids on them.

Who should not take TRUVADA for PrEP?

IMPORTANT SAFETY INFORMATION What is the most important information I should know about TRUVADA for PrEP?

Before taking TRUVADA for PrEP to reduce your risk of getting HIV-1 infection: uYou must be HIV-negative. You must get tested to make sure that you do not already have HIV-1 infection. Do not take TRUVADA for PrEP to reduce the risk of getting HIV-1 unless you are confirmed to be HIV-negative. uMany HIV-1 tests can miss HIV-1 infection in a person who has recently become infected. If you have flu-like symptoms, you could have recently become infected with HIV-1. Tell your healthcare provider if you had a flu-like illness within the last month before starting TRUVADA for PrEP or at any time while taking TRUVADA for PrEP. Symptoms of new HIV-1 infection include tiredness, fever, joint or muscle aches, headache, sore throat, vomiting, diarrhea, rash, night sweats, and/or enlarged lymph nodes in the neck or groin. While taking TRUVADA for PrEP to reduce your risk of getting HIV-1 infection: uYou must continue using safer sex practices. Just taking TRUVADA for PrEP may not keep you from getting HIV-1. uYou must stay HIV-negative to keep taking TRUVADA for PrEP. uTo further help reduce your risk of getting HIV-1: • Know your HIV-1 status and the HIV-1 status of your partners. • Get tested for HIV-1 at least every 3 months or when your healthcare provider tells you. • Get tested for other sexually transmitted infections. Other infections make it easier for HIV-1 to infect you. • Get information and support to help reduce risky sexual behavior. • Have fewer sex partners. • Do not miss any doses of TRUVADA. Missing doses may increase your risk of getting HIV-1 infection. • If you think you were exposed to HIV-1, tell your healthcare provider right away. uIf you do become HIV-1 positive, you need more medicine than TRUVADA alone to treat HIV-1. TRUVADA by itself is not a complete treatment for HIV-1. If you have HIV-1 and take only TRUVADA, your HIV-1 may become harder to treat over time. TRUVADA can cause serious side effects: uToo much lactic acid in your blood (lactic acidosis), which is a serious medical emergency. Symptoms of lactic acidosis include weakness or being more tired than usual, unusual muscle pain, being short of breath or fast breathing, nausea, vomiting, stomach-area pain, cold or blue hands and feet, feeling dizzy or lightheaded, and/or fast or abnormal heartbeats. uSerious liver problems. Your liver may become large and tender, and you may develop fat in your liver. Symptoms of liver problems include your skin or the white part of your eyes turns yellow, dark “tea-colored” urine, lightcolored stools, loss of appetite for several days or longer, nausea, and/or stomach-area pain.

if you are female, very overweight (obese), or have been taking TRUVADA for a long time. In some cases, these serious conditions have led to death. Call your healthcare provider right away if you have any symptoms of these conditions. uWorsening of hepatitis B (HBV) infection. If you also have HBV and take TRUVADA, your hepatitis may become worse if you stop taking TRUVADA. Do not stop taking TRUVADA without first talking to your healthcare provider. If your healthcare provider tells you to stop taking TRUVADA, they will need to watch you closely for several months to monitor your health. TRUVADA is not approved for the treatment of HBV. Do not take TRUVADA for PrEP if you already have HIV-1 infection or if you do not know your HIV-1 status. If you are HIV-1 positive, you need to take other medicines with TRUVADA to treat HIV-1. TRUVADA by itself is not a complete treatment for HIV-1. If you have HIV-1 and take only TRUVADA, your HIV-1 may become harder to treat over time. Do not take TRUVADA for PrEP if you also take lamivudine (Epivir-HBV) or adefovir (HEPSERA).

What are the other possible side effects of TRUVADA for PrEP?

Serious side effects of TRUVADA may also include: uKidney problems, including kidney failure. Your healthcare provider may do blood tests to check your kidneys before and during treatment with TRUVADA for PrEP. If you develop kidney problems, your healthcare provider may tell you to stop taking TRUVADA for PrEP. uBone problems, including bone pain or bones getting soft or thin, may lead to fractures. Your healthcare provider may do tests to check your bones. uChanges in body fat, which can happen in people taking TRUVADA or medicines like TRUVADA. Common side effects in people taking TRUVADA for PrEP are stomacharea (abdomen) pain, headache, and decreased weight. Tell your healthcare provider if you have any side effects that bother you or do not go away.

What should I tell my healthcare provider before taking TRUVADA for PrEP?

uAll your health problems. Be sure to tell your healthcare provider if you

have or have had any kidney, bone, or liver problems, including hepatitis virus infection. uIf you are pregnant or plan to become pregnant. It is not known if TRUVADA can harm your unborn baby. If you become pregnant while taking TRUVADA for PrEP, talk to your healthcare provider to decide if you should keep taking TRUVADA for PrEP. Pregnancy Registry: A pregnancy registry collects information about your health and the health of your baby. There is a pregnancy registry for women who take medicines to prevent HIV-1 during pregnancy. For more information about the registry and how it works, talk to your healthcare provider. uIf you are breastfeeding (nursing) or plan to breastfeed. Do not breastfeed. The medicines in TRUVADA can pass to your baby in breast milk. If you become HIV-1 positive, HIV-1 can be passed to the baby in breast milk. uAll the medicines you take, including prescription and over-the-counter medicines, vitamins, and herbal supplements. TRUVADA may interact with other medicines. Keep a list of all your medicines and show it to your healthcare provider and pharmacist when you get a new medicine. uIf you take certain other medicines with TRUVADA for PrEP, your healthcare provider may need to check you more often or change your dose. These medicines include ledipasvir with sofosbuvir (HARVONI). You are encouraged to report negative side effects of prescription drugs to the FDA. Visit www.FDA.gov/medwatch, or call 1-800-FDA-1088.

JEFF SESSIONS

South Carolina Gov. Nikki Haley said in 2013 that she was doing “my job to uphold the constitution” by opposing a federal lawsuit that seeks to overturn the state’s constitutional amendment banning gay marriage. The citizens of South Carolina spoke ... they spoke something that I, too, believe, which is marriage should between a man and a woman,” Haley told reporters after speaking at an event sponsored by the S.C. Chamber of Commerce in the Isle of Palms. “I’m going to stand by the people of this state, stand by the constitution, I’m going to support it & fight for it every step of the way.”

BEN CARSON

The Attorney General is the top law enforcement officer and lawyer for the U.S. government. He or she should protect Americans and shouldn’t have animus against anyone. So it is a concern that the Human Rights Campaign has given Sessions a “zero percent” voting record on LGBT rights. This record goes beyond voting for a failed constitutional ban on same-sex marriage and against the repeal of “Don’t ask don’t tell,” as Sessions did, and includes his opposition to expanding the definition of a hate crime to include LGBTQ people. As head of the Justice Department, Sessions could undermine hate crime protections and undo Obama’s directive to schools not to discriminate against transgender students.

NIKKI HALEY

The pediatric brain surgeon & former GOP candidate for President has some, to put it politely, interesting views on many things, including his theory that the pyramids in Egypt were constructed for storing grain. On LGBTQ rights, he’s notably hostile, saying that sexual orientation is a choice, comparing gay sex to bestiality, and opining that LGBTQs have more rights than Christians in America. He’s the choice for Housing and Urban Development (HUD) Secretary. He’s also opposed to non-discrimination laws of all kind, laws he would be tasked with enforcing. As HUD Secretary he could rescind a 2012 rule prohibiting anti-LGBT discrimination in federally funded housing for low-income people, as one example.

d on a l d tr ump’s n e w te a m Although Donald Trump called himself a “supporter” of LGBTQ rights, his cabinet and senior staff will include some of the most anti-gay politicians in the country. On one of the biggest decisions a president can make, the selection of a Supreme Court Justice, Trump suggested he might make same-sex marriage a litmus test for his choice. In January, he told Fox News he would “strongly consider” appointing Supreme Court justices who would overturn the 2015 decision allowing same-sex marriage. He’s also said he would appoint a justice like the late Antonin Scalia. Scalia, you may recall, wrote a blistering dissent against the same-sex marriage ruling, and has ruled against legalizing sodomy. But, then, Trump says a lot of things he doesn’t remember saying. Many people in the know say that his views on many issues are all over the place, and he’s likely to follow the advice of the person he last talked to. So let’s consider some of the people – some deadly serious about rolling back gay rights – who will have his ear and are likely to pursue their agenda independently within their domains.

The billionaire Republican donor Betsy DeVos is not only anti-public school – we’re noticing a trend of nominating those who are opposed to the mission of the cabinets they would lead – she’s also an antigay activist. Her family has donated to anti-gay groups, including groups that advocate for the widely discredited conversion therapy to “cure” gays of their same-sex attraction.

Betsy DeVos

LGBTQ kids have reason for concern, as Devos could remove the protection of favorable guidance in schools, including the Department of Education’s letters that have taken a strong stand against antigay and anttrans policies in school districts.

Steve Bannon

As Trump’s top White House adviser not subject to Congressional confirmation, Steve Bannon will have the President’s ear. He’s been getting deserved consternation for his views on race and his alleged coddling of white supremacists. But as the chairman of Breitbart News Network, he also signed off on antigay stories, with headlines like “Gay Rights Have Made Us Dumber, It’s Time to Get Back in the Closet.” FENUXE.COM : 25

KEN BLACKWELL

Tom Price, a conservative from our state of Georgia has been picked as Secretary for Health and Human Services, Price is antigay, anti-choice, and a leading foe of the Affordable Care Act. When the Supreme Court ruled last year that the Constitution guarantees a right to same-sex marriage, Mr. Price said it was “not only a sad day for marriage, but a further judicial destruction of our entire system of checks and balances.” Last May he posted on Facebook: It is absurd that we need a “federal restroom policy” for our nation’s schools. This is yet another abuse and overreach of power by the #ObamaAdministration.

Ken Balckwell works for the Family Research Council, which the Southern Poverty Law Center has labeled as an anti-gay hate group thanks to its promotion of “discredited research and junk science” meant to “denigrate LGBT people.” At FRC, Blackwell has latched onto rhetoric about the threat of LGBT rights, saying that President Obama is emulating totalitarian regimes by “weakening the family” and “trying to marginalize the church” and even linking a mass shooting to the country’s crumbling “moral foundation” thanks to developments such as “the attack on natural marriage and the family.” In 2006 Blackwell called homosexuality a sinful “lifestyle” that “can be changed,” like that of “kleptomaniacs or arsonists”

TOM PRICE

Price also supported fired Atlanta Police Chief Kelvin Cochran after Cochran was suspended for remarks he made about gay people in a book, calling homosexuality a “sexual perversion” and comparing homosexuality to sex with animals and pederasty. Price signed on to a letter to Mayor Reed, who fired Cochran, arguing that Cochran’s ‘religious freedom’ rights had been violated.

DAVID CLARKE

David Clarke, who is under consideration to run the Department of Homeland Security, believes that marriage equality should incite civil war: “If you call yourself an American, then you have to start a revolution in this country after what happened last week at the United States Supreme Court,” Clarke told his listeners. “If you believe in the concept of self-rule, representative democracy, limited government, then you have no choice at the very least to be part of a revolution that’s going to be necessary to get this country back.”

Though Michael Flynn has said he personally has no problem with gay people, he has also opposed efforts to protect the rights of LGBT service members. In a fiery Republican National Convention speech, he took aim at efforts to respect the gender identity of transgender people in the military. “Way too often, our troops are instead distracted by trivial matters about what word to use, what terminology is politically correct, and what bathroom door to open up,” he bellowed. (In the same speech, he joined Trump supporters in chanting “lock her up,” while demanding that “Crooked Hillary” drop out of the campaign). Weeks later, he approvingly tweeted out a Conservative HQ article Elaine Donnelly, the woman who continues to lead the unsuccessful movement to exclude LGBT people from the military in the name of “readiness,” on the “importance of military culture, cohesion, and core values.” Flynn said Donnelly “nails it” in her screed about how the Obama administration “decided to treat transgenders [sic] as a special, protected class,” subjecting young women to “gender pretenders.”

ELAINE CHAO

MICHAEL FLYNN

Elaine Chao has been nominated to the post of secretary of Transportation. Chao served as secretary of Labor for eight years under George W. Bush, and also worked under Bush Sr. She has no voting record, so it’s tough to pin down where Chao stands on the issue of LGBT rights, but her family provides some clues. She’s married to Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell, who led opposition to LGBT rights in the upper house. Chao has campaigned heavily for her husband in the past, so it’s likely she shares at least some of his views on the issue. She also closely collaborates with the Heritage Foundation a fringe group which recently said that gay marriage leads to more abortions.

These are the people who’ll be in charge of your legal rights, the services you access, and your health and safety. Feeling nervous yet? Fortunately, there’s something you can do to stop some of the people on this list from imposing an anti-equality agenda: call 1-844-USA-0234. That will connect you to each of your members of Congress, and you can tell them to oppose the appointments. It’s quick, it’s easy, and it’s a lot more effective than waiting to see what happens. Headed home for the

BY JMICHAEL C. LASALA PH.D.

HOLIDAYS? KNOW YOUR ABCS

a response like, “It’s the holidays, let’s avoid religion and politics and talk about something less controversial.” Also, know when to just “let go of the rope.” When all else fails and family members misbehave, ignore it for now and follow up later with a friend or a partner to vent & get support.

IF

you’re headed home for the holidays, I don’t need to tell you how potentially stressful such a trip can be. Part of the problem is the blast of “Norman Rockwell” images that sell the holidays as a time when families lovingly gather in peace and harmony. The reality for most families, especially those with an LGBT member, is not quite the same. We believe in the magic of the holidays and expect difficult or disapproving family members to (finally!) behave differently this time. When they don’t, it brings up unhealed hurts and points of ongoing battle. This expectation then leads to disappointment with self and family as tensions arise around the dinner table. As fully or partially out gay, lesbian, bisexual, or transgender adults, we have worked hard to gain a sense of selfworth and maturity, and we have an expectation that we will be able to now handle family relationships. However, many of us are often quite disappointed by the reality of a return home, which can inflame wounds around being rejected, or being only tolerated rather than fully accepted. Intrusive questions, snide remarks that indicate a lack of understanding and acceptance, as well as the need to hide from some or all family members are what faces many of us when we return to the old homestead. Now that same-sex marriage is legal in many places, like single straights, we may start to feel pressure from our families to find the right person and “settle down.” 28: December 16, 2016

Mix these factors with the frequent regression to unwanted roles that many, including non-LGBT folks experience: the favored daughter, the scapegoated son, the peacemaker between warring parents--add alcohol, and you’ve got a recipe for disaster. However, it is possible to survive and even thrive during the holidays if you are L, G, B, or T. Here is my “ABC plan for LGBT people during holiday gatherings: • A is for Acknowledgement (and Acceptance.) Try to prepare by acknowledging what the potential arguments or issues might be ahead of time so that you are prepared, at least somewhat. It is worth mentioning that holiday celebrations are NEVER a good time to newly announce that you are gay or transgender. So if you are not yet out, save the announcement until after the holiday visit, and emotionally prepare yourself to be in the closet for a bit longer. If you are already out, try to be prepared for what you can predict will be the bumps in the road. Will your bornagain sister-in-law start spouting biblical scriptures directly or indirectly criticizing your sexuality or gender identity? Probably. Then, bring acceptance to the table by remembering that things are not perfect, they don’t have to be, and you can’t control anyone’s behavior but your own. Heated arguments at the dinner table will not elicit a change of heart (trust me). Find a soft way to respond and gently dismiss such comments with

• B is for Boundaries. Do the best that you can to set limits with yourself and others during the holidays. Don’t take on more than you can handle. Too much of what we do with our families during the holidays is about obligation, and can feel forced upon us. If your family does not accept who you are, you owe them nothing, period. Feel free to politely but firmly decline an invitation to a family event if you think it would be better for your emotional health—and do something on the holiday you find to be fun and/or emotionally nurturing, (e.g. visit a friend, go for a long walk, read a good book, binge watch Orange Is the New Black). If you choose to visit, set good limits & boundaries. For example, if you would feel more comfortable staying in a nearby hotel rather than the family home, assert that in a firm but calm way, not in an argument. When tensions arise and you are beginning to feel overwhelmed or out of control, separate yourself. Take a walk; get a breath of fresh air. It can help. • C is for Compassion. Try to have compassion for yourself & for your family. There is a Latin phrase, “Amor fati,” meaning love your fate, which is relevant here. Find a way toward acceptance rather than judgment or perfectionism. If you chose to attempt to maintain a relationship with your family, even if they are struggling with who you are, try to accept them even though they don’t fully accept you—not out of a sense of obligation but because in the long run, arriving at an emotional separation, (“that’s them and this is me,”) may be better for your own mental health. If you just came out to them, give them time and space to get used to the news. Try to cultivate compassion by remembering that some of the family problems and attitudes you are now facing may have been going on for generations, and this may help you gain some perspective and diminish blame. This is the family you have been given, so try to find ways to understand and accept them while maintaining your own integrity. Most of all, remember that at the end of the visit you get to go home. The holidays do not last forever, so do your best to be compassionate to yourself for that brief period of time.

BOOK REVIEW:

“GAME CHANGERS: THE UNSUNG HEROINES OF SPORTS HISTORY” Y

ou can’t bear to look at the score. Whatever it is, it’s going to be close. Both sides are playing well today, and they’re all very talented. Your team might win. They might lose. Or, as in the new book “Game Changers” by Molly Schiot, they might alter the way the whole thing’s played. Growing up, Schiot says, “I thought only men could be champions.” Most popular sports-themed movies indicated as much; so did TV before cable. Few tales of women in sports were widely known, so Schiot, a Hollywood director, searched until she found a “treasure trove of images” that “inspired me to pull theses stories out of the dark.” Take the story of Alice Marble. Marble was a Grand Slam championship tennis winner many times over, but her “post-tennis life” was equally remarkable: shortly after losing both her husband and her baby, Marble became a spy for the Allies during World War II. Althea Gibson was the first tennis player to break the color barrier at the U.S. Open. But did you know that there were a lot of African American women who fought on the courts before her: Ruth Harris, Lillian Hardy, Alfreda Jackson, Clementine Redmond…? Of course, this book includes athletes like Billy Jean King, Babe Didrikson Zaharaias, Nadia Comaneci, Renée Richards, and Diana Nyad. You’ve heard about them, but you may not know that Olympian Abby Hoffman masqueraded as a boy when she was nine years old, in order to play hockey in Canada. You may not know about the abuse the first female pro-baseball umpire got during ump school, the jeers the first female Boston Marathon runner endured, or the record snatched from Kitty O’Neil. You might have seen an in-your-face move by skater Surya Bonaly, but you don’t know what bullfighter Conchita Cintrón did, or that Negro League baseballer Toni Stone cheekily befriended prostitutes while on the road. Because of what an autopsy revealed, you might not know about Stella Walsh at all. And there’s a chance that many of these women couldn’t have reached their goals or made

history without the efforts of Bernice Sandler and Edith Green. Wow, are there a lot of surprises inside “Game Changers.” Even rabid sports fans will find something new hiding here, in part because author Molly Schiot includes mini-chapters on women athletes in a huge variety of sports. Fans will find everything from the archery to zooming race cars, balls to boats, journalism, hiking, climbing, skating, and coaching. Nearly half of this book consists of photos of women athletes in action or in peril; many of them embraced dangerous feats and many were the target of men who thought they didn’t belong on the field. Schiot also treats readers to a few interviews with and by pro female athletes. In addition to sharing it with any young girl or teen in your life, this large coffee-table-sized book is one you’ll be proud to own and display. The minute you’ve got “Game Changers” in your hand, you’ll know you’ve scored. By: Always Overbooked... Hey Girl Hey! Holler Poodles!

Fall on our knees ladies! The holidays are upon us and I am bloated with acceptance. With these technological devices and disdragtions everywhere, it occurs to me y’all might need some advice on navigating the holiday dating scene. Listen up girls!

Mary Edith Pitts’ Holiday Dating Do’s and Don’ts

1. DO set up a Grindr, Growlr or Scruff Profile. If you ain’t a pretty girl, use somebody else’s picture cause everybody needs love. If you ain’t got no iphone, yo ass is screwed! 2. This is a game so never ever show your true feelings! When you see a guy you like, DO NOT initiate contact. Stand in a corner all meek and mild-this gives the impression you are shy, pristine and virginal. If you is too forward, he’ll know you is a slut! 3. When yo man approaches you to speak, remember, you is a lady! DO let the purse fall out yo mouth and let the sibilant ‘SSSSS’ run free. He knows you is a lady and likes it! 4. DO NOT shower before your date. That way if things start getting heated, you’ll remember yo ass is stank and is off limits. Remember poodles, it is an outright sin to go butt bumpin on a first date! “Keep yo legs closed to married men.” 5. DO have 1, 2, or 7 drinks before your date cause girl, even I can smell your ass! If you’re drunk, you won’t care. But Damn! 6. When you go on your first holiday date to Cowtippers, Joe’s or Roxx, DO make sure you tell your date you forgot your wallet cause a lady ain’t supposed to pay. Keep drinking cause you know he is starting to make your panties wet! 7. When he takes you back to his place, run to the bathroom and DO an emergency cake test. If your finger comes out clean, wash yo ass with soap and toilet paper. That way, when he sees the tp residue, he’ll know you washed! I recommend red and green paper for the holidays. 8. After your date is done, DO text AND call him frequently to tell him you loved your holiday date. If he doesn’t return your calls, he’s just playing a game. Show up at his door to let him know you mean business!

Love and Lashes,

Gay News At A Glance DEVASTATING NEW REPORT FINDS 40% OF TRANSGENDER PEOPLE HAVE ATTEMPTED SUICIDE

Copyright Getty Images

A devastating new major survey of transgender people shows that 40% out of the 27,715 respondents have attempted suicide at least once in their lifetime. That is nearly 10 times the 4.6% attempted suicide rate among the entire US population. One-third of the trans people say they have been mistreated when they attempt to get medical care. Also, one in five (18%) who had contact with a medical professional about their gender identity reported that the professional tried to stop them from being transgender. The figures was among the findings in the National Center for Transgender Equality’s 2015 US Transgender Survey which also looked at such things as discrimination, harassment, violence and employment of transgender people. The data was compiled from among

transgender people in US and three US territories as well as some military bases. ‘The report findings are devastating and unfortunately not surprising,’ said Victoria Rodriguez-Roldan, director of the National LGBTQ Task Force’s Trans/ Gender Non-Conforming Justice Project. Among the reports other findings: 14% of transgender people — more than one in 10 – who disclosed their transgender identity to their family were sent to a professional to stop them from being transgender At home, 10% of transgender people who were out to their immediate family report that a family member was violent towards them because they are transgender, and 8% were kicked out of their home. At school, 54% of transgender people report being verbally harassed, 24% report being physically attacked, and 13% sexually assaulted. 33% of transgender people who saw a health care provider had at least one negative experience related to being transgender, such as verbal harassment or refusal of treatment. 33% report not going to a health care provider when they needed because they could not afford it. In places of public accommodation, 31% of transgender people experienced at

least one type of mistreatment in the past year, such as being denied equal treatment or service, verbally harassed, or physically attacked. One in three transgender people (29%) report living in poverty, compared to 14% of the U.S. population. 15% of transgender people report being unemployed, which is three times higher than the national average of 5%. ‘The rates of suicide attempts, poverty, unemployment, and violence must serve as an immediate call to action, and their reduction must be a priority,’ the report states. ‘Despite policy improvements over the last several years, it is clear that there is still much work ahead to ensure that transgender people can live without fear of discrimination and violence.’

Demons have possessed advertising executives to make them push the gay lifestyle – at least if you believe a Colorado Republican.

‘The Bible tells me to “have no fellowship with the unfruitful works of darkness, but rather expose them”.’

Gordon Klingenschmitt, a disgraced former Navy chaplain and elected member of the Colorado House of Representatives for the 15th district, made the claims on his Pray In Jesus Name’ program.

Exposing evil, Klingenschmitt says, is the purpose of his program, and he and his audience also ‘discern the demonic spirit and pray the scriptures in Jesus’ name.’ In the past, Klingenschmitt has said gay activists wanted to steal people’s souls and also claimed gay people ‘should be discriminated against’.

In the broadcast, he encourages viewers to join the Religious Rights boycott of jewelry retailer Zales.

PREACHER: PEOPLE WHO MAKE ADS THAT INCLUDE GAY COUPLES ARE POSSESSED BY DEMONS 38: December 16, 2016

The jeweler recently featured a lesbian couple in their advertising campaign. According to the former military chaplain, the advertising executives behind this campaign are possessed by demons, driving them to promote an ‘ungodly’ thing and attack and redefine ‘the institution of marriage’ as part of the ‘leftist agenda’. ‘They are deceivers fooling the American public and we need to expose that as wrong,’ he says. ‘The Bible says this in Ephesians chapter five. I’m just doing my job, right?

One of his most outrageous claims, however, that Don’t Ask, Don’t Tell should never have been repealed. At the time, Klingenschmitt quoted Pentecostal Chaplain John Kauffman, who claimed gay soldiers couldn’t serve effectively in war zones because they were ‘taking breaks on the combat field to change diapers, all because their treacherous sin causes them to lose control of their bowels.’ Klingenschmitt became a Religious Rights activist after he was court-martialed by the Navy for repeatedly violating rules prohibiting him from wearing his uniform while attending political events.

BRADY BUNCH ALUM SPEWS HATE

Brady Bunch actress Susan Olsen has been fired from LA Talk Radio for her using anti-gay slurs against a gay actor in a Facebook message made public. The politically conservative Olsen, who played Cindy Brady on the classic sitcom, was incensed when out actor Leon Acord described her as a ‘Trump fanatic’ and called for her to be fired from the radio show in Facebook post. He accused Olsen of spreading misinformation. She sent him a private message calling him a ‘faggot’ more than once and a ‘pussy’ among other crude insults.mAcord screenshot the messages and made them public. The station said in a statement on its Facebook page that it had ‘severed ties’ with Olsen but did not use her name in sharing the news. ‘LA Talk Radio takes pride in its close and collaborative relationship with the LGBT community, and will continue to provide a home for those who have hopeful & positive messages of togetherness and tolerance to share with our listeners.’ ‘We will not tolerate hateful speech by anyone associated with our radio station and have severed our ties with a host that veered off the direction in which we are going.”

TRUMP WILL ROLL BACK OBAMA’S LGBTI RIGHTS PROTECTIONS Donald Trump has nominated half of his cabinet so far, and every single elected official is against LGBTI rights. So it might not come as a surprise that a senior Republican has said the next administration will roll back President Barack Obama’s executive orders to protect the LGBTI community. Obama has signed executive orders outlawing discrimination based on sexual orientation and

gender identity, as well as one providing guidance to schools urging to not discriminate against trans students. The Trump administration will be able to remove these executive orders to allow homophobic legislation to pass. A senior Republican, Oklahama Representative Steve Russell, is hoping to pass the Russell Amendment that would allow people to discriminate against LGBTI people based on religious beliefs. He said: ‘These issues will be resolved, and we have gotten some very good assurances moving forward. I am certainly encouraged by the signs that I am getting from the administration that is inbound.’ Trump has not commented on Russell’s claims.

NORTH CAROLINA GOVERNORELECT ROY COOPER CALLS FOR REPEAL OF HB2

North Carolina Governor-Elect Roy Cooper is calling on the state’s legislature to repeal House Bill 2, the state’s sweeping anti-LGBTI measure. Cooper, currently the state’s attorney general, defeated incumbent Governor Pat McCrory who finally conceded the close race. ‘With this election, North Carolina is on its way to repairing its reputation. Let’s finish the job and repeal HB2,’ Cooper said at a victory rally on the campus of North Carolina State University on Tuesday night. The crowd of around 650 people erupted in cheers at the suggestion, according to ABC 11. McCrory suffered politically for his staunch support and defense of HB2, a so-called bathroom bill aimed at transgender people. The law forces transgender people to use a bathroom matching their gender at birth. HB2 has cost North Carolina on multiple fronts. The NBA is among the sports leagues to move events out of the state and big name musical acts such as Bruce Springsteen canceled concerts. Lambda Legal, which is among the groups challenging HB2 in federal court, applauded Cooper’s call of a repeal. ‘Every day that HB2 remains on the books, this shameful law encourages discrimination against tens of thousands of LGBT people.”
