FR Le concert d’un ciel étoilé : SPECTRA met en musique la fascination pour le firmament. SPECTRA répartit huit musiciens et des haut-parleurs aux quatre coins de la Vanhaerents Art Collection. Pour Atlas Eclipticalis, John Cage s’est inspiré de la collection de cartes d’étoiles publiée en 1958 par l’astronome tchèque Antonín Becvár. Il a littéralement pris ce livre comme point de départ : sur les cartes, il a placé des douelles sur lesquelles il a dessiné des points plus ou moins grands, en fonction de la luminosité de la lumière. La Cartridge Music de Cage est le fil conducteur ici. Pour Tierkreis, Karlheinz Stockhausen se base sur l’astrologie et propose douze mélodies caractéristiques des signes du zodiaque. La composition Voyager I & II de Dirk Veulemans est née de la fascination de l’espace et de la capacité de l’homme à envoyer deux sondes spatiales (Voyagers 1 et 2) au-delà du Système solaire.

NL Een sterrenhemel in concert: SPECTRA zet de fascinatie voor het firmament om in muziek. In een op maat gemaakte setting verdeelt SPECTRA acht muzikanten en luidsprekers over de breedte, lengte en hoogte van de Vanhaerents Art Collection. Voor Atlas Eclipticalis liet John Cage zich inspireren door de in 1958 gepubliceerde verzameling sterrenkaarten van de Tsjechische astronoom Antonín Becvár. Hij nam dit boek zelfs letterlijk als uitgangspunt: bovenop de kaarten plaatste hij notenbalken waarop hij – afhankelijk van de helderheid van het licht – grotere of kleinere punten tekende. Het resultaat klinkt als een veelheid van subtiel gonzende klankstippen in een klinkend uitspansel. Cage’s Cartridge Music is hierbij de leidraad. Voor Tierkreis baseerde Karlheinz Stockhausen zich dan weer op de astrologie. Twaalf melodieën karakteriseren de tekens van de dierenriem.De compositie Voyager I & II van Dirk Veulemans is ontstaan vanuit het ontzag voor de ruimte en de verbazing dat de mens in staat is om twee onbemande ruimtevaartuigen, de Voyagers 1 en 2, naar de interstellaire ruimte te sturen. EN A starry sky in concert: SPECTRA renders a unique interpretation of our fascination with the firmament. In an adaptation specially made for this setting, SPECTRA positions eight musicians and loudspeakers over the length, breadth and depth of the Vanhaerents Art Collection. In his work Atlas Eclipticalis, John Cage was inspired by the collection of sky maps published by Czech astronomer Antonín Becvár in 1958. He literally took this book as a point of departure: on top of the star charts, he placed staves on which he drew larger or smaller dots according to the stars’ brightness. The result is a murmuring multitude of subtly buzzing dots in a sonorous firmament. Karlheinz Stockhausen on the other hand departed from astrology for his Tierkreis. Twelve melodies characterise the signs of the zodiac. Dirk Veulemans’ composition Voyager I & II arose from the awe of space and the amazement that humans were capable of sending two unmanned spacecraft, Voyagers 1 and 2, into interstellar space.
