The most beautiful building in the world, with over one billion colorful mosaic tiles, is part of this tour. The tour is filled with hundreds of UNESCO World Heritage Site buildings, most covered in colorful mosaics and some even in goldleaf. There are even ancient walled cities still intact. Why We Have the BEST Silk Road Tour

There have been two ways to travel the silk road through Central Asia. By bus and by train. When we started working on this tour we talked to many that had traveled the Silk Road by bus, we wanted to know how much they liked their bus tour. They all said the same thing - They loved the sites but absolutely hated the extremely long exhausting drives on bad roads to get from one place to another. They all felt a private train would be a much better option! The owners of Fun For Less Tours experienced the Silk Road by private train in 2015. They absolutely loved the train, it would travel by night from one place to another and then they would park the train during the day so you had time to see all the fantastic sites. There was only one drawback to the train Jim and Carol went on – it visited less countries than doing it by bus. We wanted to do all the countries AND we wanted to do it by train. The only way we could do that was to charter the whole train and design our own itinerary that included the additional countries. It took us six months to get permission for our private train to enter the additional countries we wanted, we now include all of the countries that would be done by bus. We are the only ones in the world that offers a private train tour that covers China, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Uzbekistan, Tajikistan and Turkmenistan. We were the first to ever bring a private train into Tajikistan and Kyrgyzstan – the only other way to visit all these countries in the past was by vehicle that often involved many 10 hour drives in one day on bad roads. Chartering the Whole Train Gave Us FANTASTIC PRICING When the owners of Fun For Less Tours went on the Silk Road train in 2015 that visited only 3 countries, there were 16 passengers from the USA on the same train. They knew we were preparing for a group in 2017. They also knew we were going to add the Silk Road in China and most likely visit additional countries that were not included on our 2015 train trip. They asked what we might be charging our group when we put it all together. There was no way to be accurate, but we could give an estimate as we knew what our costs would be in China and had some estimated pricing for the train. We took our train cost estimate, added extra for additional countries, added China, added our best guess on airfare in China and then gave them our best guess price. Their program was a 14-day tour, we estimated our future program to be a 20-day tour. They were shocked, at our estimated pricing! For the same cabin category, without China, educator and additional countries we planned to include, they had paid almost $3,000 more per person than we estimated we would charge our passengers for everything. We not only have the best tour for the Silk Road, we have the best pricing! Chartering the whole train created huge savings! We have the best price possible!

Why NOW IS THE TIME We contracted for three chartered Silk Road Train Tours. 2017, 2018 and 2019. We have already taken 2017, we have only 8 spaces left on 2018, but we have just started to sell 2019. When 2018 and 2019 are sold out, we do not know when we will be able to do this again. We have not been able to get a contract for 2020 as they are using their train in other parts of Europe. We do hope we will be able to charter the train again in the future, but no one knows. Xi’an was the ancient capital of China and the start of the Silk Road. Xi’an was where the Emperors lived during the time of the Silk Road. If you look at the map above you will see our tour starts in Xi’an and then flys to Dunhuang, which was a major crossroad on the Silk Road. In Dunhuang the Silk Road splits into three major trails. We will take the Northern route, which is the absolute best route for experiencing ancient ruins and staggering beauty. From Dunhuang we take a high-speed train to Turpan, then on to Urumqi by bus. From Urumqi, we will fly over the 14,000-foot mountains that separates China from Central Asia into Almaty Kazakhstan (the 9th largest country in the world). Almaty is where we will find our PRIVATE DELUXE Train waiting for us.

We will travel throughout Central Asia by our Chartered Private Train - almost every stop was part of the Silk Road! We will actually be traveling through 5 of those countries: Kazakhstan (the 9th largest country in the world), Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan, Uzbekistan, and Turkmenistan. There are two other countries that end in Stan THAT WE ARE NOT VISITING – Afghanistan and Pakistan. It is critical to understand the difference. The 5 Stans we visit were part of the Soviet Union from the 1800’s until 1991. After 70 years of Russia’s no religion policy, there are very few that practice religion, be it Christian or Muslim.

The Silk Road brought riches to Central Asia, which was used to create some of the most beautiful buildings in the world. The owners of Fun for Less Tours were in Branson 4 times in the last two years, twice to prepare for future groups and twice with groups. You need to know they love Branson! They find the Branson experience more fun and enjoyable than Broadway. You can’t compare one show like “Wicked” to any one show in Branson, but the sheer enjoyment and fun of Branson overall, outweighs Broadway. Then there is the gigantic price differences. Branson shows are usually between $30 and $40 for prime center seats and around $60 for Dinner Shows and Silver Dollar City’s two shows. Compare that to one show on Broadway for prime center seating (if you can get them) they can easily cost $200 to $400 per show. Several of the shows we attended during our week of previewing shows, had groups from Utah attending the same show. In all cases, those groups were sitting in the back section of the theater and one time even on the back rows. We never buy the cheap seats – all of our seats start on row 2 and go back in the center section. We buy the best seats!!!!

Previewing the shows ahead of time is critical to offering the best experience possible. The biggest problem in Branson is the sheer number of shows. There are often 100 shows going on in Branson. Of that number, maybe 20 are great, and another 10 are good, the rest can be ok to less than ok. When choosing shows to preview, we looked at lists of shows offered by other companies from Utah, along with Trip Advisors recommendations. We also called those living and working in the show business in Branson, for their recommendations. Many of the shows on other Utah companies lists fell to the bottom of our list after seeing all of the shows. We chose not to take our passengers to ‘The Presley’s,’ ‘Shoji Tabuchi Christmas Show,’ ‘Hallmark’s Maxine Christmas Carol’ and more. Many of these shows were okay, but definitely not great. We chose the BEST SHOWS.

The excitement, fun, and relaxation of a Mississippi paddle boat cruise combined with the study of the Civil War with Dr. S. Michael Wilcox. This fantastic paddle boat cruise starts in Memphis, Tennessee and travels the Mississippi to New Orleans. The Majestic Canadian Rockies Rocky Mountaineer Train travels 2 full days during daylight hours from Vancouver to Lake Louise in the Rocky Mountains. Very Important Information: We simply wanted everyone including the SilverLeaf passengers to stay with our GoldLeaf

passengers in the 5-star Luxury Hotels (as listed on the next page). It took some doing, but we finally made it happen. The only difference between Gold and Silver is the class of service traveling from Vancouver to Banff. At the end of the two days on the train, both groups will join together. Our BEST Seating Ever Before seating is open to the public to purchase, it is first offered to those that contribute money or time to the Shakespeare Festival. Fun For Less Tours does not fall into this group. After receiving our seat assignments for this year (2015) we expressed our disappointment in the seats that were assigned to us. All of our seats were in the back half of the Orchestra section. We did not have any seats in the front half. We understand why the large donors and those involved in the plays should get first choice. We just wanted to be included in those getting first choice. We told the Festival we needed to be included in the first group for the following reasons: • This is more of a service then a profit center for us. By the time we pay for the hotels, the show tickets, three meals a day, thousands of dollars to rent our meeting space at the Festival, all tipping, money paid to actors for the private seminar, along with the cost of sending many staff members with all of their costs and the costs of Dr. Michael Wilcox – we make very little money. The winner in all of this are our customers AND the Shakespeare Festival. • We asked the Festival to look at the many years of our buying around 2000 show tickets each year, which is 10 times more than other groups have purchased. We felt they needed to consider the large number of tickets we buy each year as our donation to the Shakespeare Festival. • If we could not get better seating we would likely stop coming. Our petition did not fall on deaf ears! This year all of our seats were in the Orchestra, but in the back sections. The Festival has re-evaluated our position for next year. We already have our seats assigned and know exactly what we have to offer and believe us, they are GREAT! We ended up with 3 packages for next year. • Our Gold Package: Four of the plays are in Rows 1, 2, 3 or 4. The other two plays are in great Orchestra seating. NOTE: The Gold Package has already sold out. • Silver Package: Three of the plays are in Rows 1, 2, 3, or 4. The other three plays will be in good Orchestra seating. We still have space in our Silver Package. • Bronze Package: One of the plays will be in Rows 1, 2, 3 or 4. The rest of the seats are not bad, they are basically what we had this year. The Bronze Package will not go on sale until after we sell out our Silver Package. Approximately 40% of our seats are in the Gold Package, which has sold out. We also have about 40% of our seats in the Silver package and 20% of our seats are part of the Bronze Package. Not much difference between the Gold and Silver packages. The Silver Package will also sell out, so don’t wait!!

We will start our fantastic Church History Tour in Palmyra, the Sacred Grove, and the Hill Cumorah. We will then follow the legacy-rich path of the saints from Palmyra to Kirtland, on to Independence, Far West, Adam-ondi-Ahman, Liberty Jail and then finally into Nauvoo and Carthage. We will not be traveling by wagon train - we are going to fly from Kirtland to Independence! Flying eliminates two full days of traveling by bus (and two months if traveling by wagon.)
