Our owners had heard about the stunning AmaMagna ship, but had never personally experienced it until the summer of 2024. It far exceeded every expectation. It is the most impressive river cruise ship ever built. It is DOUBLE the size of AmaWaterways' other luxury river cruise ships. With it having double the amount of square feet of other ships, this is what they did with all the additional space: Approximately 25% of the additional space was put into additional cabins. The other 75% was used to make every cabin larger and more luxurious, along with additional restaurants and lounges. Stunning could be an understatement when it comes to the beauty of many of the Philippine islands. There are over 7,000 islands that make up the Philippines, don’t worry, we are not going to try and see them all. We have hand-picked some of the best islands to see and experience. Before we charter a train or ship, the owners have to experience it first, to check out the quality and itinerary. There were six things that convinced them they needed to charter trains in Africa for our passengers:

• Open Lounge Cars: The Siberia trains and the Silk Road trains do not include a lounge car for socializing, reading or playing games. · Pushkar Festival: With so few days in a year that the 1,000 year old festival is held and so few places to stay at, the out of the way Pushkar area, very few tourists are ever able to experience the Pushkar Festival. Most have to stay in tent camps, but we have one of the few 5-star resort hotels for our passengers. This is only available to our passengers because of connections the owners of Fun For Less Tours have in India.
· Maharaja Palaces: Many of them are so stunning that they become an attraction unto themselves. We usually leave early and return around 4pm back to the Maharaja Palaces. This gives our passengers time to leisurely explore the beautiful grounds, take a swim in some of the beautiful swimming pools and enjoy dinner on patios overlooking the manicured gardens.
· The Country of Bhutan (Extension): Few, if any, tourists ever get permission to visit Bhutan – stepping back in time where little has changed in hundreds of years. This is an optional extension, but if you have time and have the money we highly recommend it. Bhutan wants to limit the number of tourists. One of the ways is that they charge $200 a day per tourist, in addition to any visas, flights, hotels and other expenses related to the trip. That means, with our group staying 4 nights, we are paying between $800 and $1,000 per person just for the right to enter Bhutan. Expensive, but we believe it is worth it.

Royal Caribbean introduced us to the possibility of doing Japan from a ship. But, as we studied the itineraries offered by ships, all missed some of the best areas of Japan and NONE that we found would be there during the beautiful Cherry Blossom Season. Colors and Castles is close to the right name of this tour, the true name should have been the Mid-Evil Walled Villages and Castles during the Colors of Provence season in Southern France. There wasn’t room to put this as our heading. During the summer in Southern France, most every window and building in the villages and cities are adorned in beautiful flowers, BUT the best time of all is when the south of France is covered in lavender fields. There are certain places in the world that have the greatest highlights in a very short period of time, like being in the Netherlands during the short tulip season or being in Japan during the short cherry blossom season – that is what it is like being in the South of France during the short lavender blossom season. You not only experience all the normal beautiful flowers, you will also be blown away with the staggering beauty of the lavender fields. The best time to see the beautiful lavender fields is between mid-June to mid-July! We hit it perfectly as we board our AmaWaterways cruise ship on June 25, setting sail through the heart of the best area to enjoy lavender fields and ancient cobblestone villages. The China Cultural Village is a huge hit with our passengers, and it also has several great shows. • Zhangjiajie Mountains: We were the first ever to bring American groups to Zhangjiajie. This is likely the most beautiful place on Earth. It is where they filmed the floating mountains of Avatar. Yes, those mountains actually exist, they filmed them at Zhangjiajie and then cut off the bottoms to make them float in the movie. This is a highlight of highlights in China.
• Both the Yangtze and the Li River in one tour. Usually, you have to pick the Li River or the Yangtze; you can’t do both. If you are going to China, you need to do both. The Yangtze River is more impressive than the sailing through the inside passage in Alaska.
• 8 Phenomenal Cultural Shows: in Beijing, Xian, Zhangjiajie, Shenzhen and Guangzhou. Other companies charge extra for the shows, we include them all!
• REAL 5-Star Luxury Hotels and Cruise Ship: In China hotels and Yangtze River cruise ships can assign their star rating more or less on their own - many companies passengers end up in hotels and cruise ships on the Yangtze that state they are 5 star but in reality are more like a 3 star. All of our hotels are 5 Star PLUS and our Yangtze Cruise ship's cabin is a mini suite with private balconies.
• The ancient walled city of Pingyao: China’s best-preserved ancient walled city. The whole town is a UNESCO World Heritage Site. It is often called a living museum. Even though the ancient walled city is many hundreds of years old, the buildings are all lived in. The first banking system in China started in Pingyao. This will be a major highlight.
• Pandas and the Guangzhou Zoo Shows: A great place to see Pandas is at the Guangzhou Zoo. The Zoo also has many animal shows to enjoy. We will also enjoy a fantastic evening show across from our luxury hotel.
• High-Speed Trains are faster than flying: By the end of 2022 China was close to having 30,000 miles of high-speed rail lines. High speed trains travel between 120 to 220 miles an hour. We used to do 5 airplane flights inside of China. By the time you add the drive through traffic to the airports, the hours before the flights, along with the drive time back into the next city – in every routing, traveling by high speed train has become faster than flying. That doesn’t even take into consideration that the vast majority of our flights were over an hour late. The trains have more comfortable seats, more leg room and you get to enjoy the beautiful China landscapes when traveling by train.
• High-Speed Train baggage issues: China’s High-Speed Trains have only a small area around your seat that can handle American’s small carry-ons – which is the size of what the Chinese would take as a suitcase. There is no room for large suitcases without having to eat up your leg room. Then there is the massive headache of loading and unloading buses, dragging large suitcases through train stations, along with having to lift your large suitcases on and off the trains. We are the only company we know of that has solved this issue. Your suit cases are taken from your hotel room in one city and will magically appear in your hotel room in the next city. We have your large luggage trucked from your hotel room to your next hotel in the next city. You are free to travel on the high-speed trains with your day pack or small carry-on –without having to handle or worry about your large suitcases.
