Tahiti is almost impossible to visit by cruise anymore. At one time Princess Cruise Lines had a small ship in Tahiti offering 7-night cruises. The ship is no longer available. There are a couple of very, very expensive ships that will do a 7 day Tahiti Island cruise, but prices for inside cabins start at over $5,000. Then it really gets expensive - too expensive for our taste! The truth is, we want something no one ever offers, a cruise that includes all of the important South Pacific Islands: Tonga, Samoa, Fiji and Tahiti. Every year we look at all of the cruises offered in the Pacific, but no one ever offers what we want. After looking at hundreds of itineraries over the years, we finally found a cruise we could work with, we just needed to be a little creative to get everything we wanted. The cruise starts in Auckland and travels through the Pacific to Hawaii. The cruise includes Tonga and Tahiti but does not include Samoa and Fiji. With a little creative thinking, we found we could fly to Samoa, tour – then fly to Fiji, tour – then fly to Tonga to board the ship at its first port of call, after leaving Auckland. The ship would then visit two Tonga Islands, the Atoll Island of Niue, the Cook Island and then spend 3 days visiting different Tahiti Islands before heading to two Hawaiian Islands. By combining our land tour and a couple of flights, with a good cruise on Holland America, we have it all - Samoa, Tonga, Fiji, Atoll, Cook Island, International Date Line Crossing, 4 days on 3 islands in Tahiti (including Bora Bora) and a lot of “Fun Days at Sea” with Dr. S. Michael Wilcox, before arriving in Hawaii. This is what we have been waiting for!! Major Addition To Our China Tour Our special tour to china is not a copy of other tour company’s tours. Our tour was designed by Jim and Carol Tyndall (the owners of Fun For Less Tours) after many weeks of exploration in China. Their goal was to make sure you see the best of the best that China has to offer. That is why they included in their tour both the Li River and the Yangtze River - most tour companies make you chose a tour that includes the Li River OR the Yangtze, but rarely if ever offer a tour that would include both! On a recent three week exploration of new areas of China they had not visited, the owners found an area that was so fantastic they had to add it to our tour!

In 2016 we are adding Zhangjiajie to our China tour. China is Jim and Carol’s favorite place to visit in the world. They have been there more than 20 times with groups and on their own explorations. They were amazed at the unique beauty of the little known Zhangjiajie National Forest. They spent three days exploring Zhangjiajie and during that time they saw plenty of Chinese tourists, but never saw any European or American tourists. Zhangjiajie is now their favorite place in China! They had to find a way to add it to our already special China tour. If you saw the movie Avatar, the stunningly beautiful hanging mountains were actually filmed in Zhangjiajie. They filmed the Zhangjiajie Mountains and then cut off the bottoms to give the illusion that they were hanging in midair. The Avatar Mountains do exist and they are in Zhangjiajie China!

Before seating is open to the public to purchase, it is first offered to those that contribute money or time to the Shakespeare Festival. Fun For Less Tours does not fall into this group. After receiving our seat assignments for this year (2015) we expressed our disappointment in the seats that were assigned to us. All of our seats were in the back half of the Orchestra section. We did not have any seats in the front half. We understand why the large donors and those involved in the plays should get first choice. We just wanted to be included in those getting first choice. We told the Festival we needed to be included in the first group for the following reasons: • This is more of a service then a profit center for us. By the time we pay for the hotels, the show tickets, three meals a day, thousands of dollars to rent our meeting space at the Festival, all tipping, money paid to actors for the private seminar, along with the cost of sending many staff members with all of their costs and the costs of Dr. Michael Wilcox – we make very little money. The winner in all of this are our customers AND the Shakespeare Festival. • We asked the Festival to look at the many years of our buying around 2000 show tickets each year, which is 10 times more than other groups have purchased. We felt they needed to consider the large number of tickets we buy each year as our donation to the Shakespeare Festival. • If we could not get better seating we would likely stop coming. Our petition did not fall on deaf ears! This year all of our seats were in the Orchestra, but in the back sections. The Festival has re-evaluated our position for next year. We already have our seats assigned and know exactly what we have to offer and believe us, they are GREAT! We ended up with 3 packages for next year. • Our Gold Package: Four of the plays are in Rows 1, 2, 3 or 4. The other two plays are in great Orchestra seating. NOTE: The Gold Package has already sold out. • Silver Package: Three of the plays are in Rows 1, 2, 3, or 4. The other three plays will be in good Orchestra seating. We still have space in our Silver Package. • Bronze Package: One of the plays will be in Rows 1, 2, 3 or 4. The rest of the seats are not bad, they are basically what we had this year. The Bronze Package will not go on sale until after we sell out our Silver Package. Approximately 40% of our seats are in the Gold Package, which has sold out. We also have about 40% of our seats in the Silver package and 20% of our seats are part of the Bronze Package. Not much difference between the Gold and Silver packages. Dr. S. Michael Wilcox has been after us for many years wanting us to put together a tour that would include the Galapagos Islands. The issue always comes down to space and pricing. We have always prepared our tours about 1 year out and for the rest of the world that has been the right timing, but every time we have tried to put a tour to Galapagos, by land or by ship, one year before our desired date there was never room for a group. Like the Trans-Siberian Rail, if you want to get space for a group you need to start working on it two years before your desired date. Your tour to Galapagos will be in December of 2016.

We, along with Michael, have spent many hours trying to figure out the best itinerary, ship or hotels to use. We have come to the following conclusions: • Most of the Galapagos Islands are quite similar. You don’t go to Galapagos to see the islands. You go to Galapagos to see the unique animals, birds, sea life, Darwin and its history. It is not necessary to do 7 to 14 day cruises or tours to experience Galapagos and its wildlife. We decided 5 days of touring several islands would accomplish what we need for our passengers. • Finding space for a good size group even on ships that hold 100 is hard because they will only give you a small number of the less expensive cabins. The cost skyrockets as you go up in cabin categories. • On larger ships it also means when you stop at an island you have 100 passengers going ashore at the same time. • We finally decided to stay on the main island in a deluxe hotel and use it as a base.

This program offers us several advantages:

• Hotel vs ship: Our quality hotel is less expensive than a quality ship. On a ship a few would get the starting prices, but the majority would have to pay for the expensive upgraded cabin categories. • We feel the itinerary we have put together would accomplish all that is most important to see in Galapagos. We can see the wildlife and get a great feel for Galapagos during our visit to 5 of the islands during our 5 days on Galapagos. Additional days and islands is much more expensive and all you do is see the same wildlife all over again. • We plan on having only about 60 passengers. We will then split the 60 into to smaller groups of about 30 passengers each. Each group would go to a different island by boat and then return to the group and base in the evening. Being in smaller groups we hope it will be less crowded compared to the larger ship groups. • Deluxe hotels on Galapagos are limited and not large. We were finally able to get the right hotel to take our whole group (which is not easy) and give us a large enough room at the hotel for Michael to talk to us daily.

This will be one vacation/tour you will never forget. In addition to the Galapagos Islands, we spend 4 nights in the wonderful quaint city of Quito. The Equator is just a few miles from Quito and there is so much to see and do. It is one of the most beautiful areas in the world surrounded by ancient volcanos and the majestic Andes Mountains all with beautiful scenery. Wait till you experience how water flows on different sides of the equator or try to walk without tipping right down the equator line. We absolutely love Quito and all it has to offer. Our nights in Quito will be spent in the JW Marriott luxury hotel. If that wasn’t enough, we will also spend 4 days 3 nights on the majestic Amazon River. Many feel this is the best place to really enjoy the Amazon River. Along with getting accommodations in Galapagos that is always sold out, we had issues trying to arrange our trip to the Amazon. There are only two really great places we feel are the best to take our passengers to. One is a ship called the “Anakonda”, the other is a small deluxe lodge that is located on the Amazon River. Here was the problem. The lodge has only 16 double rooms or can only hold 32 passengers. The “Anakonda” is maxed out around 36 in double rooms. It took us a while, but we finally were able to buy out the whole Anakonda ship. It meant anyone else scheduled had to change to other dates. We also bought out the whole lodge on the Amazon. Their stays are 3 nights twice a week and then they close one day. Not only did they have to cancel other reservations, the day we wanted to start was their normal day off. We had to get them to not only take us, but start on the normal day off they give everyone. This really was a long time jigsaw puzzle to put all this together. Important information: approx. ½ of our passengers will experience the Amazon on a deluxe ship and the other ½ will experience the Amazon from a wonderful lodge.
