This is a brand-new AmaWaterways Cruise we are introducing in 2023. The owners of Fun For Less Tours, after experiencing this cruise and itinerary, knew it should go directly to the top of everyone’s list – we had to offer it to our passengers! Michel Wilcox, who loves France and even speaks French, jumped at the chance to be part of this special cruise and tour. The “Colors of Provence” is the right name. During the summer in Southern France, most every window and building in the villages and cities are adorned in beautiful flowers, BUT the best time of all is when the South of France is covered in Lavender fields. There are certain places in the world that have the greatest highlights in a very short period of time, like being in the Netherlands during the short tulip season or being in Japan during the short Cherry blossom season – that is what it is like being in the South of France during the short Lavender blossom season. You not only experience all the normal beautiful flowers, you will also be blown away with the staggering beauty of the Lavender fields. The best time to see the beautiful Lavender fields is between mid-June to mid-July! We hit it perfectly as we board our AmaWaterways Cruise ship on June 29, setting sail through the heart of the best area to enjoy Lavender fields and ancient cobblestone villages.

The train travels for two full days during daylight hours from Vancouver to Banff through the Majestic Canadian Rockies. The rest of our specially designed tour is not offered by anyone else. We travel by bus and stay in the very hard to get luxurious Fairmont Hotels. The Rocky Mountaineer Train has been voted many times – “The Best Train Trip in the World”! We wanted the best for our passengers, so all of our passengers will be traveling in “The Best Train Trip in the World” Luxury First Class GoldLeaf Train Cars! They offer two classes of service, SilverLeaf and GoldLeaf. MAJESTIC CANADIAN ROCKIES 15 day train tour - August 23, 2022

The Majestic Canadian Rockies by Train was Voted 7 years in a row as “The BEST Train Trip in the World”.

Few, if any have the quality of Hotels we have!

Getting the hotels we want for our passengers has become almost impossible. The Rocky Mountaineer Train Company, with upwards of 900 passengers a day arriving into the different cities, have overwhelmed hotels in many of the cities they visit. Rocky Mountaineer Train Company controls most of the group contracts with many of the hotels in the area. Their volume of passengers has been so high that it has become impossible to fill the large volume of requests for the Luxury Fairmont Hotels. GoldLevel passengers will maybe get two Fairmonts and then have to settle for lesser quality or different 5-Star hotels in the area. At one point, they asked if our groups would be willing to stay in 5-Star constructed tents in an area or two. They had more travelers than they could accommodate when it came to the luxurious hotels. We finally gave up after weeks and weeks of trying different dates seeing if we could get all the hotels we wanted. When they could no longer grant our requests for the Fairmonts we wanted, we stopped traveling with them. We just stopped taking groups. If we couldn’t have what we wanted for our passengers, we weren’t interested. After more than two years of no bookings from us, they took notice and sent someone to talk to us about coming back and booking again. We told them we would come in 2021, but only if they could give us what we wanted, otherwise we have enough going on that we didn’t need them. They said they would go to work on getting us what we wanted. 6 months later, they returned with exactly what we needed, including all the hotels we insisted on at a perfect time of year. We had all of our requests granted in 2021 AND now they have honored all of our requests again for 2022. If you ever wanted to experience the Rocky Mountaineer Train through the Rockies, book now for 2022, the future is an unknown.

MAJESTIC CANADIAN ROCKIES 15 day train tour - August 23, 2022

The mixture of almost every color in the color spectrum is on display. It is truly an experience you will never forget! Weather and tulips blooming can never be fully predicted. History has shown the very best time year to see the best of the Tulips is the middle to end of April. AmaWaterways knows that the cruises, that start after 15 April and end by May 1, have the best opportunity to see the Tulips at their best. We really have to thank Royal Caribbean for the idea of our 2023 optional Japan and Exotic Asia Program. We originally had a Royal Caribbean Cruise and Tour scheduled for 2021 that started in Exotic Asia and ended in Japan. The cruise missed all of Thailand and Cambodia but was able to visit Vietnam and then had 4 good stops in Japan. When the Coronavirus caused the cancellation of our 2021 Royal Caribbean Cruise, we went back to the drawing board to see if we could design our own program that would fill the many important sites missed in both South East Asia and in Japan. What we came up with gave us a lot more of Japan and Vietnam, plus we were able to add Cambodia and Thailand. Our 2023 cruise is going to be on a luxury ship with every cabin the size of a mini-suite that includes a private balcony. Your tour will include many of the important spiritual sites in Israel. You will have the chance to experience Petra on this tour. Petra is one of the Seven Wonders of the World!

Here is a partial list of what you will see and experience:

Jerusalem, the sea of Galilee, Bethlehem, Jerusalem Center, Nazareth, Garden of Gethsemane, Mount of Olives, the Garden Tomb, Mount of Beatitudes, Mt. Carmel, Capernaum, Masada, Caesarea, Antonia Fortress, tour around Temple Mount, Palace of Caiaphas, Jesus’ baptismal area, swim in the Dead Sea and Petra, Jordan! We also visit places others miss or are not allowed to visit. Some even leave off Bethlehem, and most leave off Jordan! One of the sites missed by everyone else is the ongoing excavations of the City of Lehi. A cave was discovered a short distance down from Jerusalem with writings of a Prophet from 600 BC. The Nomad tribes consider the hill above the cave to be a sacred place. As they put it, “Before there was Muhammad there was a great prophet named Lehi and he taught from that hill”. We do not know if this is our Lehi, but we do know this will be a huge highlight as you visit an active archaeological dig. The excavations are on an Army Base. Only those excavating and Fun For Less Tours have been given permission to go onto the site. To see a video on the Lehi excavations go to the Israel section of our website you will find a link.
