In one day, from Oslo, we will take 3 picturesque train rides, sail on a ship through 3 stunning Norwegian Fjords and travel by bus through the most beautiful valley in Norway. One of the most beautiful train trips in the world is the Bergin Rail line that takes you through spectacular scenery and steep mountain passes. It is also one of the highest railroads in the world. The Flam Railway experience drops you down from the steep mountains to the quaint village of Flam. From the village of Flam we board our ship for our sailing of 3 stunningly beautiful Fjords.

This special tour is a wonderful chance to enhance your studies of the New Testament with Dr. S. Michael Wilcox. If you are spending time studying the New Testament in your church or on your own this year – next year would be the perfect time to visit many of the sites mentioned in the New Testament. The tour also includes early Christian history in the areas you are visiting. Below is a small list of some of the highlights you will experience on Dr. S. Michael Wilcox’s Travel of Paul and the Apostles Tour:

· Athens: Paul taught on Mars Hill at the base of the Acropolis.

· Corinth: Paul spent over a year in Corinth working, teaching and starting a church.

· Ephesus: Paul and John were involved in creating the church in Ephesus and other churches in the surrounding area.

· The Island of Patmos: From Ephesus, we will travel by private ferry to the Isle of Patmos, Turkey. This is where John wrote the book of Revelations. Patmos is really a Greek island but it is closer to Turkey than to the mainland of Greece.

· Rome: Paul was held in prison near the Forum of Rome, and it was here that Paul died a martyr for his faith. There are three other wonderful places that we will visit that are filled with early Christian history. All fall into our favorite places to visit in the world.

• Istanbul: Many of the religious sites in Istanbul have both ancient Christian history and ancient Muslim history.

• Cappadocia: Underground cities where up to 20,000 early Christians hid from persecution. The caves cities have up to 13 levels. We will not try to visit all of the many miles of caves or try to visit 13 levels deep, but we will visit enough that this will become a huge highlight day.

• Meteora Monasteries: Our train ride and visit to Meteora’s Ancient Monasteries, built on top of sheer rock pinnacles, will be another huge highlight day.

Most of our passengers enjoy Branson as much or more than New York’s Broadway. You can’t compare one show like “Wicked” to any one show in Branson, but the sheer enjoyment and fun of Branson overall actually outweighs Broadway. The secret to Branson is choosing the right shows. Branson has more live shows than anywhere else in the world. At any given time, there may be over 150 shows to pick from. We have picked our shows after a lot of research, personal experiences, and recommendations from friends that live in Branson. We also look for a variety of shows. With us, you really will get the BEST of the BEST.

Then there are the gigantic price differences between Branson and New York. Hotel rooms near Broadway can easily cost over $400 per room per night. Before we charter a train or ship, the owners have to experience it first, to check out the quality and itinerary. There were three things that convinced them they needed to charter trains in Africa for our passengers.

• Bathrooms and Showers: On our Africa luxury trains EVERY cabin has an attached private bathroom. On our Siberia and Silk Road Trains, that we have chartered, only a few cabins included an attached bathroom and shower. the majority of the cabins did not have a private bathroom attached to their cabin. They did have shared public toilets and showers in each car. Having the luxury of having a bathroom attached to each train cabin was impressive.

• Charter Pricing: They offered us huge savings if we chartered the whole train. The normal train portion of your package price, per person in the Elephant Cabin, is $9,670 per person. This is more than a fair price when you consider each luxury train cabin has a private attached bathroom. But, that is not good enough for us. By chartering the whole train, we were able to save our passengers $1,500 PER PERSON. Our passengers pay only $8,170 per person for the Elephant cabin. We also have added an educator and tour managers while still giving you the huge savings.

• Open Lounge Cars: The Siberia Trains and the Silk Road Trains, do not include a lounge car for socializing, reading or playing games. Our Africa Train has two lounge cars where guests can gather with large windows to look out. They also have an area where you can step outside onto an open-air deck to take pictures. Impressive is the best word to describe the luxury train.

Jim and Carol Tyndall, along with Jamie, their daughter (all owners of Fun For Less Tours), were able to experience this fantastic part of the world on a private train. At the time, the train only visited 3 Stan Countries: Kazakhstan, Uzbekistan & Turkmenistan. The train did not visit Tajikistan or Kyrgyzstan. Knowing the train missed the countries of Tajikistan and Kyrgyzstan, they went in early to explore the areas the train missed. Even though they had all traveled to over a hundred countries, they knew almost nothing about Central Asia and its history of the Silk Road. To say they were overwhelmed with the ancient beauty and the people – would be an understatement. Jamie felt it was the best trip she had taken anywhere in the world. To Jim and Carol it shot right up near the top of all the places they have ever visited. After the trip, they agreed to charter the whole train for our groups – BUT, they needed to redesign the trains itinerary and needed to add the countries of Tajikistan and Kyrgyzstan. A train is not like a bus that you can just take a different road, pull over almost anywhere and stop or park. Getting permission to travel by rail, wanting to stop and park your train like a bus is not easy. It took close to a year of working with all of the governments and local train companies to get permission to change our itinerary and add the additional two Stans - Tajikistan and Kyrgyzstan, The only reason this is possible, is because we are chartering the whole train, changing the itinerary, and adding additional nights on the train. A few things to consider:

• The huge price savings from our chartering the whole train. As far as we know, no one has ever chartered the entire private train through the Silk Road in Central Asia. Chartering the whole train created huge savings. Our price on the train is $1,300 per person less than what the train company charges when it is not a Charter AND they do not include all 5 countries and our improved itinerary! That is only reserved for our charters.

• NO LONG DRIVES! On Jim and Carol’s trip they met many people traveling through the Silk Road by bus. When they asked how they liked their tour, everyone said they loved the sites, and the hotels, but the long drives were exhausting and grueling! They spent ½ of their time or more doing long drives. There were many days of driving that were 6 hours or more before they reached the next area to tour. Then when they arrived, they were given less time than they would have liked to see the sights. WE HAVE NO LONG DRIVES! We will travel by train at night and then tour during the day. Some of the bus travelers they met said they had looked at the train but it only visited 3 of the Stan countries. They wanted all 5, so they went by bus. You will get all 5 Stans without any long drives, plus you will have plenty of time to enjoy the many beautiful sites. Please, Please, Please listen to us. The Rock Mountaineer trains offer two classes of service: The Deluxe Silver Leaf Cars have large windows, good seats and quality meals at your seat, but they don’t come close to the quiet and luxury of the Gold Leaf Cars. The Gold Leaf Train Cars have two stories with an elevator. On the upper floor the windows go from your seat up and over the ceiling to the other side. One of the sites in the Holy Land that only we are able to visit, the ongoing excavations of the City of Lehi. A cave was discovered a short distance down from Jerusalem with writings of a Prophet from 600 BC. The Nomad tribes consider the hill above the cave to be a sacred place. As they put it, “Before there was Muhammad there was a great prophet named Lehi and he taught from that hill”. We do not know if this is our Lehi, but we do know this will be a huge highlight as you visit an active archaeological dig. The excavations are on an Army Base. Only those excavating and Fun For Less Tours have been given permission to go onto the site. To see a video on the Lehi excavations go to the Israel section of our website you will find a link. NOTE: The excavations are now far enough along, there are stairs into the underground excavations.
