Before we had to cancel all of our 2020 Passion Play Tours and Cruises, we had 12 groups scheduled on Romantic Danube Cruises that included Oberammergau and its Passion Play. It is the biggest fully preserved castle in Central Europe. Add the “Sound of Music”, Wolfgang Mozart, along with the UNESCO World Heritage Old Town and you have a city that needs to be at the top of your bucket list. • Munich, Germany: The old town with its impressive Marienplatz square, has been the center of Munich since the 12th century. It is the Bavarian Capital, home to centuries-old buildings and the history that involves Mad King Ludwig and his family. • Neuschwanstein Castle: We plan to see this fairytale-like castle, often referred to as the Disney Castle. The fairytale look of the Neuschwanstein castle inspired Walt Disney to create the Magic Kingdom Castle. • Austrian Lake District: One of the most beautiful picturesque areas in the world. • Vienna, Austria: Its artistic and intellectual legacy as shaped by residents including Mozart, Beethoven and Sigmund Freud. The city is also known for its Imperial Palaces, including the Schonbrunn Palace that we will visit. • Budapest, Hungary: Split by the Danube River Buda on one side and Pest on the other, became known as Budapest. Another beautiful city with so much to see and experience. One of the biggest highlights will be viewing the city after dark on the Danube River as the whole city lights up. • Oberammergau, Germany: Simply put – this is the highlight of highlights in 2022 with its once in a lifetime Passion Play. The Famous White Pass Train to Skagway This is an Alaska adventure, like no other! You may have enjoyed a wonderful Alaska cruise in the past, BUT you have NEVER experienced Alaska and Canada’s Yukon Territory like this. We have a great relationship with Holland America Cruise Line. They have a really good land tour of Alaska and Canada’s Yukon Territory that they combine with a special 4 night Inside Passage cruise that sails through the best of Alaska’s Inside Passage. This is a brand-new AmaWaterways Cruise we are introducing in 2023. This might be the ultimate experience; the study of Christ through the Holy Lands combined with Oberammergau’s Passion Play. This once in a lifetime tour will visit many sites that others are not able to see when they go to Israel. For example; the City of Lehi excavations, located a short distance down from Jerusalem. This is where caves were discovered with writings on the inside walls. It was determined that the writings were by a prophet in hiding that dates approx. 600 BC. The Arabs have considered the hill above the cave to be a sacred place. As they put it – “before Mohamed there was a great prophet named Lehi and he taught from that hill.” Even the archaeologists in Jerusalem now call the area Beit Lehi. We do not know if this is our Lehi, but we do know this will be a huge highlight as you visit an active archaeological dig. The excavations are on an army base. Only those excavating and Fun For Less Tours have been given permission to go onto the site.

MAJESTIC CANADIAN ROCKIES 15 day train tour - August 23, 2022

The Majestic Canadian Rockies by Train was Voted 7 years in a row as “The BEST Train Trip in the World”.

Few, if any have the quality of Hotels we have!

Getting the hotels we want for our passengers has become almost impossible. The Rocky Mountaineer Train Company, with upwards of 900 passengers a day arriving into the different cities, have overwhelmed hotels in many of the cities they visit. Rocky Mountaineer Train Company controls most of the group contracts with many of the hotels in the area. Their volume of passengers has been so high that it has become impossible to fill the large volume of requests for the Luxury Fairmont Hotels. GoldLevel passengers will maybe get two Fairmonts and then have to settle for lesser quality or different 5-Star hotels in the area. At one point, they asked if our groups would be willing to stay in 5-Star constructed tents in an area or two. They had more travelers than they could accommodate when it came to the luxurious hotels. We finally gave up after weeks and weeks of trying different dates seeing if we could get all the hotels we wanted. When they could no longer grant our requests for the Fairmonts we wanted, we stopped traveling with them. We just stopped taking groups. If we couldn’t have what we wanted for our passengers, we weren’t interested. After more than two years of no bookings from us, they took notice and sent someone to talk to us about coming back and booking again. We told them we would come in 2021, but only if they could give us what we wanted, otherwise we have enough going on that we didn’t need them. They said they would go to work on getting us what we wanted. 6 months later, they returned with exactly what we needed, including all the hotels we insisted on at a perfect time of year. We had all of our requests granted in 2021 AND now they have honored all of our requests again for 2022. The mixture of almost every color in the color spectrum is on display. It is truly an experience you will never forget! Weather and tulips blooming can never be fully predicted. History has shown the very best time year to see the best of the Tulips is the middle to end of April. AmaWaterways knows that the cruises, that start after 15 April and end by May 1, have the best opportunity to see the Tulips at their best.
