Before we charter a train or ship, the owners have to experience it first, to check out the quality and itinerary. There were three things that convinced them they needed to charter trains in Africa for our passengers.

• Bathrooms and Showers: On our Africa luxury trains EVERY cabin has an attached private bathroom. On our Siberia and Silk Road Trains, that we have chartered, only a few cabins included an attached bathroom and shower. the majority of the cabins did not have a private bathroom attached to their cabin. They did have shared public toilets and showers in each car. Having the luxury of having a bathroom attached to each train cabin was impressive.

• Charter Pricing: They offered us huge savings if we chartered the whole train. The normal train portion of your package price, per person in the Elephant Cabin, is $9,670 per person. This is more than a fair price when you consider each luxury train cabin has a private attached bathroom. But, that is not good enough for us. By chartering the whole train, we were able to save our passengers $1,500 PER PERSON. Our passengers pay only $8,170 per person for the Elephant cabin. We also have added an educator and tour managers while still giving you the huge savings.

• Open Lounge Cars: The Siberia Trains and the Silk Road Trains do not include a lounge car for socializing, reading or playing games. Our Africa Train has two lounge cars where guests can gather with large windows to look out. They also have an area where you can step outside onto an open-air deck to take pictures. Impressive is the best word to describe the luxury train.

Money is not the only difference between us and the train company. Their passengers visit 3 countries and go home, when their train trip is finished. It is a shame to go so far in the world and miss so much. Our special Africa Train Safari is a combination of two packages. The train package visits 3 countries. We have designed our own special land package that we have added to your luxury train package. Our special land package has added 3 additional countries, additional safaris, additional hotels and additional touring. Below is a small taste of what we have included in our special land package, that is not included with the train:

• 9 days of additional hotels, buses, guides, entrance fees, safaris, boat rides, educators, tour managers, meals, and more!

• We fly in earlier than the train and start in Victoria Falls. With our extra time we visit Zambia and Botswana for safaris and touring.

• St. Lucia area with Safari boat ride and the Zulu Tribe.

• The tiny country of Lesotho. We travel by 4-wheel drive vehicles through beautiful canyons – from sea level to 11,000 feet to the tiny country of Lesotho. A huge highlight.

• Cape Town with Table Top Mountain, boat rides and three days of touring throughout the area.

Jim and Carol Tyndall, along with Jamie, their daughter (owners of Fun For Less Tours), were able to experience this fantastic part of the world on a private train. At the time, the train was not visiting Tajikistan or Kyrgyzstan. Knowing the train missed the countries of Tajikistan and Kyrgyzstan, they went in early to explore the areas the train missed. Even though they had all traveled to over a hundred countries, they knew almost nothing about Central Asia and its history of the Silk Road. To say they were overwhelmed with the ancient beauty and the people – would be an understatement. To Jim and Carol it shot right up near the top of all the places they have ever visited. After the trip, they agreed to charter the whole train for our groups – BUT, they needed to redesign the train's itinerary and needed to add the countries of Tajikistan and Kyrgyzstan. A train is not like a bus that you can just take a different road, pull over almost anywhere and stop or park. Getting permission to travel by rail, wanting to stop and park your train like a bus is not easy. It took close to a year of working with all of the governments and local train companies to get permission to change our itinerary and add the additional two Stans - Tajikistan and Kyrgyzstan, The only reason this is possible, is because we are chartering the whole train, changing the itinerary, and adding additional nights on the train.

A Few Things to Consider:

• The huge price savings from our chartering the whole train. As far as we know, no one has ever chartered the entire private train through the Silk Road in Central Asia. Chartering the whole train created huge savings. Our price on the train is $1,300 per person less than what the train company charges when it is not a Charter AND they do not include all 4 countries and our improved itinerary! That is only reserved for our charters.

• NO LONG DRIVES! On Jim and Carol’s trip they met many people traveling through the Silk Road by bus. When they asked how they liked their tour, everyone said they loved the sites, and the hotels, but the long drives were exhausting and grueling! They spent ½ of their time or more doing long drives. There were many days of driving that were 6 hours or more before they reached the next area to tour. Then when they arrived, they were given less time than they would have liked to see the sights. WE HAVE NO LONG DRIVES! We will travel by train at night and then tour during the day. Some of the bus travelers they met said they had looked at the train but it only visited 2 of the Stan countries. They wanted all 4, so they went by bus. You will get all 4 Stans without any long drives, plus you will have plenty of time to enjoy the many beautiful sites. Please, Please, Please listen to us. This is the BEST designed tour of the Silk Road, the BEST in hotels, the BEST deluxe train – All at the BEST price you will ever see!! We have chartered the whole train in 2023.
