Why this year is the best year to explore India The BEST educator: Dr. S. Michael Wilcox. When Michael went to India a couple of years ago, there were three things that were not available on that tour that we were able to put into our 2015 tour. The famous Pushkar Festival, the Mehrangarh Fort in Jodhpur (the most impressive fort in the world) and the Country of Bhutan tucked into the tops of the Himalayas. The quality of hotels in India can make or break your tour. Most 3 and some 4 star hotels are not up to US standards and are not always safe. Our hotels for the most part beat 5 star US standards. Our hotels are like an oasis with many acres of manicured gardens. Your tour includes real 5 star opulent luxury palaces (built by Maharajas), along with 5 star luxurious hotels! National Geographic created a list of ten places you should see before you die. As part of your tour, you will have the rare opportunity to experience the famous Pushkar Festival that was part of that list of 10. The Pushkar Festival is considered the oldest festival in the world. It has been held annually for over 1,000 years. An astonishing 50,000 camels along with cattle and horses are brought to Pushkar each year to barter and sell. It’s a fascinating and spectacular sight that will rank at the top of your list of travel experiences. Less than 1% of the visitors to India get the opportunity to attend a Pushkar Festival.

There is only one 5 star and a few 1 to 2 star small hotels at Pushkar, so most of the visitors have to stay in tents during their visit to the festival. With our connections in India, we have been given the 5 star luxury hotel for our group to stay in.

The rare opportunity to visit Bhutan has never been offered before by us and we do not know if we will ever have the opportunity again. Bhutan is a small picturesque country located high in the Himalayas with a border to Tibet. It was almost completely cut off for centuries with no roads in or out. You will have one fantastic highlight day in Chiang Mai, Thailand - One of our passengers this year said, “this has been the best 24 hours in my life” after his day in the Chiang Mai area. The day included holding and feeding baby tigers, petting large tigers, witnessing the best elephant show in the world, and riding elephants over the mountain to visit the Long Neck Tribe. As seen in National Geographic, the women stretch their necks by putting metal rings around them. Your second highlight day in Thailand will be the visit to the beautiful King’s Palace and temples.

In Myanmar (Burma)

There are Two fantastic highlight days in Burma: Bagan ruins and Inle Lake. Bagan is probably one of the most amazing sights we have ever seen. Within a few square miles are the ruins of over 2,500 temples and pagodas.

Inle Lake is beautiful and unique. It is filled with floating villages, floating gardens, floating temples and so much more.

There is a less expensive public train that is used by locals and back packers that goes from Moscow to Beijing, BUT you cannot afford the public train and here is why:

• There are no Luxury trains Beijing to Moscow. The public train is a one star or less in quality. You would not enjoy the ride.

Our private train is not a 5-star luxury train, but it is a wonderful first class or deluxe train. It far exceeds the quality of the public train.

• The public train has a schedule to keep. It stops to let passengers off and on. Our private train is able to pull onto a side track for our many full days of touring, and even a couple of nights in hotels along the way. You not only see Siberia, Russia and Mongolia, you get to experience it on the many tours included with our private train.

Comparing apples to apples in pricing:

In 2016 the package directly through the Private Train for their full package listed on pg. 12 is over 9,500. Our complete package that includes everything in the private train package PLUS Michael Wilcox, upgraded hotel in Beijing and Fun For Less Tour Managers is $8,395. That’s over $1,100 less than the normal train package. If the Trans-Siberian Rail is anywhere near your bucket list of places to see and visit – don’t walk to the phone – run to the phone and call us. We are going to be very limited in the numbers we can take.

We plan to add 2 optional extensions: One will be in China the other will be an extension to St. Petersburg. Don’t wait for the extensions; they will be able to be added at a later date. For now, signing up for the train is most important.

PS: With 6 time zone changes - do you go Moscow to Beijing or Beijing to Moscow? It’s a no-brainer: going west, Beijing to Moscow, you gain an hour of sleep or sightseeing with each time zone change. Major Addition To Our China Tour

Last fall Jim & Carol Tyndall (owners of Fun For Less Tours) spent two weeks exploring parts of China they had never been to. They are always looking to see if there are new places to visit or ways to improve our special China tour. Their explorations have made major differences to the way we do our tour compared to other travel companies.

OUR BEST ADDITION EVER! Zhangjiajie National Forest

In 2015 we are adding Zhangjiajie to our China tour. China is Jim and Carol’s favorite place to visit in the world. They have been there more than 20 times with groups and on their own explorations. They were amazed at the unique beauty of the little known Zhangjiajie National Forest. They spent three days exploring Zhangjiajie and during that time they saw plenty of Chinese tourists, but never saw any European or American tourists. Zhangjiajie is now their favorite place in China! They had to find a way to add it to our already special China tour. If you saw the movie Avatar, the stunningly beautiful hanging mountains were actually filmed in Zhangjiajie. They filmed the Zhangjiajie Mountains and then cut off the bottoms to give the illusion they were hanging in midair. The Avatar Mountains do exist and they are in Zhangjiajie China!

The perfect cruise at the right time of year!

In 2013 there were only September sailings into Canada. The cruise line called them Fall Foliage Cruises, but it was too early to see any fall foliage. For 2015 The cruise is at the right time of year to have the best chance to enjoy the many fall colors. Michael loves Canada, especially since his wife was from Canada. He did a cruise a few years ago to Canada. He has wanted to return every year since, but with his busy schedule it has been hard to fit it in. For 2015 we have been able to work it out that he is able to return one more time!

What you will see and experience on this fantastic cruise begins in New York and goes up through the New England States into Canada. One of the best ports of call they have included that is left off of most Canada cruises is Prince Edward Island and home to beloved Anne of Green Gables. Starting in 2012 environmentalists created strict regulations that every large ship had to burn a special biodegradable fuel. It required large ships to be dry docked for almost two weeks. During that time they would have to empty the unacceptable fuel, physically go inside the large fuel tanks and manually scrub away any old fuel.

It was such a headache, Princess and other cruise lines stopped going to the Antarctic. For 2012, 2013 and 2014 Holland America continued to return, each year suggesting this would be their last. When our group was there this last January, they stopped suggesting they might not return. So for now, it looks like it has been popular enough to continue taking one or two sailings each year. When will it end, no one knows, we just know the environmentalists don’t want the big ships in the area. So don’t put it off because it could end suddenly, plus every year it becomes more expensive.

If they ever end, it would mean the only way to visit the Antarctic would be on small 2-star ships that cost about $12,000 per person without airfare for an 11 day cruise. Our whole 25 day cruise/tour on a deluxe Holland America ship, even when you include airfare and shore excursions, is a lot less than the cost of a 2-star 11 day Antarctic cruise without airfare!

2015 Season at the Utah Shakespeare Festival The Adams Shakespearean Theatre will feature three plays by William Shakespeare, playing from June to August. First is the Festival’s continuation of its History Cycle with the fourth play in Shakespeare’s theatrical chronicle of England and its kings: Henry IV Part Two. Henry IV Part Two picks up where Henry IV Part One left off. Theatregoers won’t want to miss this epic family drama that ultimately leads up to the War of the Roses.

Also in the Adams Theatre will be two of the Bard’s greatest works, King Lear and The Taming of the Shrew – two shows on opposite ends of the theatrical spectrum. One demonstrates a mighty king who falls into a state of tragic disintegration and madness while the other is a witty, slapstick comedy about the battle of the sexes.

In the Randall L. Jones Theatre will be Rodgers and Hammerstein’s captivating and Pulitzer Prize winning musical South Pacific, as well as Amadeus, Peter Shaffer’s brilliant fictionalized account of the lives of composers Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart and Antonio Salieri. You will also enjoy the hilarious comedy Charley’s Aunt by Brandon Thomas.

We will start our fantastic Church History Tour in Palmyra, the Sacred Grove, and the Hill Cumorah. We will then follow the legacy-rich path of the saints from Palmyra to Kirtland, on to Independence, Far West, Adam-ondiAhman, Liberty Jail and then finally into Nauvoo and Carthage. We will not be traveling by wagon train - we are going to fly from Kirtland to Independence! Flying eliminates two full days of traveling by bus (and two months if traveling by wagon.) Along with our own prepared manual, each bus will have qualified educators and escorts that have been to the Church History sites before.
