The Northern Ontario Sportishing Centre is a contemporary structure, with floor-toceiling glass windows offering a panoramic view of Regina Bay. Form follows function, in this grand design by David Nelson (Nelson Architecture) and the visitor perspective is strongly influenced by the great outdoors. The Northern Ontario Sportfishing Centre (NOSFC) is a play to see and be seen. The interior does not shy away from the history and heritage of the region: antique fishing boats, vintage motors, and old lures pay tribute to the rich and colourful past of all of those who have ever fished on the lake. A small room has been lovingly painted with
Speaking of stories: Here at the NOSFC, visitors can watch videos and learn more about five classic fish species (Northern Pike, Walleye, Lake Trout, Muskellunge, Smallmouth and Largemouth Bass) found in the Lake of the Woods region. Looking for a place to hang socially? There is always someone to talk to at the Northern Ontario Sportfishing Centre. Here you can sit on the comfy couches and connect to wi-fi (it’s free): post to Facebook, upload pictures on Instagram, and tweet about “the big fish”.
It is one of the only golf courses where the adventure begins before your hit the first tee! Here at White Moose Golf Course, an avid sportsman can head out on Lake of the Woods, pull up to a dock in Long Bay, and walk right up to the clubhouse. Touted as one of the Top 14 golf courses in Northwestern Ontario, the White Moose Golf Course, carved out of the Whiskey Jack Forest, is a 9-hole, Par 35 course. Taking a road trip? White Moose Golf Course is located about 7kms north of Sioux Narrows. Pack your golf clubs, book your tee time, and take a drive along the
scenic, picturesque King’s Highway 71. Just like the town, this small 9-hole golf course rivals the bigger 18-hole courses – and just like the town that it is close to, stakes its claim on the idea that “bigger isn’t always better”! Artists from the communities of Nestor Falls and Sioux Narrows have their art on display and for sale at the NOSFC. Bring a camera – you never know when a small herd of deer might be passing through. Or take a stroll down to the waterfront and enjoy the sights and sounds of Lake of the Woods. We promise, you will not be disappointed. So, whether you come by water or by land…a memorable experience is waiting for you at the Northern Ontario Sportfishing Centre in Sioux Narrows. #did you know: In the late 1800’s and early 1900’s, people traveled to camps, lodges and resorts on Lake of the Woods by steamer boat. The birch bark canoe was the main mode of transporting goods vast distances via waterways. Created by the aboriginals that inhabited the lands, the birch bark canoes were later used by the voyageurs. The voyageurs, fur traders of European descent, traded European goods with aboriginals for beaver and other animal pelts. A birch bark canoe is on display at the Fort Frances Museum, located on Scott Street in Fort Frances.

Great Eats Food is the centre of most gatherings and here, we’re no different. We love good food! Surrounded by the lake, family farms and great hunting spots, we have the freshest of the fresh! While here enjoy some local walleye caught in one of our pristine lakes. Fresh Walleye is second to none. This easy cleaning fish is a dream: fun to catch and better to eat! Great for a shore lunch or your dinner table. Ask a local for their favourite way to cook this delicacy! Make sure to pick some wild blueberries to take home, you won’t regret it.
ÂÂ At La Place Rendez-Vous the Northern Ontario Walleye is an absolute must or try their everpopular wild rice soup, it’s a house specialty ÂÂ The spicy perogy pizza at Boston Pizza has a long list of fans here in Fort Frances and their jambalaya fettucini definitely deserve a taste
